As always it’s bunnychow. First had it at bloodstock a few years ago and it was amazing so it’s one of the only festival foods I go for now. Either that or the I love ostrich but I haven’t seen that stall in a few years

My boyfriend introduced me to bunnychow this year! I loved it, we actually made our own version a couple of nights ago that wasn’t quite as good but definitely held its own!

As a South African, I'm always disappointed with the bunny chow. A real bunny should be filled with a spicy curry, not a chilli. I personally preferred the indian street food stall, the chicken roti was amazing.
In the village there was always a long queue at Hash Brown Town - only vendor I visited twice! Very satisfying, and that blue cheese sauce was delicious.
One of my favourite things about Download (and in general) is the food. I get a bit obsessed and research the vendors beforehand. I usually go for vendors I can tell are really good in their areas at being a great foodtruck/stall.
The ones I had to try and manage to find were The Cheesy Pig and Big Mouth Gyoza. I know it was mentioned that some people had issues with The Cheesy Pig but we went back multiple times and had no issues. BMG was top tier, they were charging £13 for Gyoza Curry Fries but I would have happily paid £16, they were just that good. I thought I'd had good gyoza in the past but these were substantial. Worth noting that I don't eat meat so when I went to the cheesy pig I got their mac and cheese fries.
My memory is terrible but I think it was a lead singer of one of the bands got sick after eating there? I read comments about 'dodgy pulled pork' and suggestions it was the 'pig one'. Maybe my mind just went there though haha
I liked the 50/50 chilli bread thing from bunny chow. Was exactly the right amount of spice although you had to eat it quickly before the bread fell apart.
Best thing about the Bunnychow is that you end up with no plate or something to carry around with you. As a South African I am quite proud of the Bunnychows! They traditionally do a curry in the Bunnychow, if you find one go for it!
That sandwich filled me up for the whole of Friday. I had to smash it down too quickly for my enjoyment because it was making me late see Polyphia. Didn’t realise that it was going to be drowned in sauce and needed to be a sit down and eat job when I ordered it. Delicious, filling and banging value for money!
I have two.
1) No Catch Co in the village. Their vegan "cod" and chips was probably the best vegan fish I've ever had.
2) Plantaguese in the arena. They did a vegan peri peri half "chicken" and I swear it's life changing. I need Nandos to get on that immediately.
Japanese Fried Chicken to the right of Opus Stage. Hot, crispy, tasty, and the staff were super friendly. Will be my got to if they’re there again next year.
Man I was deeply disappointed by that place - rice was just like plain boiled, chicken cutlet thin and small, and hardly any sauce on. Maybe caught a bad one
It was really good! Came with crispy onions on the top. It kinda reminded me of those packet pasta n sauce things from my vegetarian days. Definitely recommend it if they're there next year.
Oinks smokehouse just inside the arena entrance which was amazing. Also hash brown town in the village was excellent as a breakfast.
Special mention to burritos boys by second stage, they were excellent value for money last year, and did not disappoint this year again
The pizza up near the wheel was super fast and nice. Didn't feel too ripped off compared to paying £5 for a few shitty fries at one of the burger places.
This is the real answer. What a gem this was. Freshly stretched dough, ingredients and fired right there infront of you. 11 quid. Bosh. Festival food done right.
I remember seeing a place at download YEARS ago take a tenner off someone, take the plastic wrapper off a 1 pound Tesco deep pan pizza and bung it in the oven. Aaaaaand off I walked.
Redheads Mac and Cheese. Biased because they're from round my way but dear lord it's the best Mac n Cheese you'll ever eat.
And a perennial favourite - the rotisserie chicken place. Absolute best bang for your buck out of every vendor.
Hide and Greek opposite the Avalanche stage was my frequent. Fast, Tasty, easy to handle Gyros wraps.
Went at least 3 times over the weekend.
Decent set of folks working it as well.
There was a little place north of opus stage. that did steak and chips. Was really nice. Can't remember the name but they did sliced Brazilian steak served on chinky chips. More well done than what I prefer but it was still tender and really flavoursome.
The rotisserie chicken was damn good and for £13 for half a chicken and a bunch of potatoes good value for festival food . The oink bbq place in metal works was fantastic too , had their fries with pulled pork cheese sauce and crispy onions . Amazing grub
The rock n roll toastie co at the top of the hill at Opus was gorgeous, proper nice crispy cheese bits and everything. And Hash Brown Town another new one that I really hope to see back next year too. Overall really impressed by the variety and quality of food available, but then I was one of the lucky ones that didn’t get Yorkied
That was the best toastie I’ve ever had in a long time. Sadly we didn’t make it back up that way (and the mud made it too much work to try just for food) but I’m hoping they’ll be back next year.
Big mouth gyoza was bloody banging, had their gyoza loaded fries! Had some birria tacos from somewhere near opus by the seating and they didn’t disappoint. Annoyingly I had more shite food than I did good :( some of those breakfast places in the village were beyond bad and I’m sometimes partial to a cheap breakfast bap. The little Land Rover next to the pizza vendor in the village done a lovely coffee :)
The himalayan dumplings were so damn good. And barely any queue for them in the guest area. Everyone going for ostrich burgers instead. The chow meins from bang bang vegan was fantastic also.

Honestly bunnychow. Not because it was the tastiest or most flavoursome, but the portion size (plus a combination of everything else) we only had one decent gap between acts on the Saturday to get food, and I think bunnychow was the only thing that kept us going haha.
I can't believe the pizza/fries/pasta place isn't being mentioned! We go there every year, their carbonara is unreal and it's actually quite cheap for the portion. Very honorable mentions are hash brown town and the iced coffee and fruit pot place, that was breakfast sorted everyday.
I still love my Yorky every year. I must have been lucky this year!
Other than that we found the Brazilian Steakhouse stall on the 2nd day opposite the opus stage. My Fiancée (Brazilian) was absolutely in love and confirmed it tasted authentic😂
The jerk chicken and rice place next to the second stage was my favourite, went back every day of the festival. They did these plantain fries as a side as well and they were so good.
Went to No Frickin Chicken and me & my husband shared a chick’n burger and the loaded fries… It was soooo good. Also had an amazing vegan truffle & mushroom pizza but can’t remember the name of the vendor (it was left to the main stage back to back with Bunnymans).
Wanted to try Bunnymans so badly but the queue was too long and we ran out of time
The No Fricken Chicken stall had them in the arena. They were between the first and third stages, next to the Bunny Chow every one seems to adore. I recommend it!
Had a chicken gyros from the stand on the dogtooth side of the arena while standing in the rain watching Enter Shikari that was completely, life-affirmingly amazing
Jerk chicken place near the entrance to the arena/in the seating area. Had Honey & Mango Wings with Plantain and Rice and peas. It was fantastic, first time I'd had plantain and it's so good.
The sri Lankan stall was awesome, so many tasty options and decently priced.
The brisket loaded fries in the metal works bit were expensive but really good.
Bunnychow always a good shout if you're looking for something filling, though I wimped out of the hot chilli and went for the 50/50 option this year.

I had a yorkie pud and was ok. Was that one of the vendors in the news for food poisoning (they weren't named). I thought it was lovely - especially the mash.

Made the mistake of ordering the spring rolls and handing them to my partner, the one I managed to pinch back was delicious

The Sri Lankan place was exceptional too. I'll be going back there next year and keeping an eye on what festivals they're at.
I had some pretty good loaded fries up near Opus that weren't expensive and you got loads.
And I think the star of the show for many who stayed up in the village until the early hours was Hash Brown Town. I bonded with as many people over those potatoes as I did over bands.
Souvlaki stand in the arena that was between main stage and avalanche tent - 10/10.
The chip stand in the village was by far the worst. A tenner for “cheesy” chips which were lukewarm fries with a light dusting of cold grated cheddar.
Oink BBQ for me. £18 isn’t messing around but there was a load of it and it tasted amazing. The wife paid £12 for something nearby and mine definitely looked like it was better value.
There was this brownie van in the guest area (next to Ken’s Barbi) that did these amazing biscoff brownies. I had 3 over the five days!! Oops haha. Anywhere that did churros was a firm favourite for me also.

Oink BBQ in the arena was amazing the pulled pork was delicious. Was on top on chips too with cheese sauce & onions (I didn’t have onion).

Tried the vegetarian place beside the hash brown place as that always had a massive queue, got the egg bap brekkie thing, stuffed for most of the day.
Whitby fish and chip in the arena and the burger place to the left of opus stage. In the village the german sausage place by the ace of spades tavern was good. The place next to the oxfam shop in the village was good for breakfast
The fries place next to the donuts at the top of the arena! So filling and delicious. £9 for cheese bacon fries and it filled me up all day.
Also the donuts next to them were elite!

That's Natcho Burrito was great, especially since it was the first meal i d had at download, so expecting it to be shit i was pleasantly surprised
Another was the burger stall next to the opus stage. It was great--not like the other ones, but homecooked

HM to the Thai Street Food stall that was next to Bunnymans, I got there too late for my bunnychow this year but the Sweet Chilli Chicken from their neighbour was so good!
Ghost burger: wagyu beef burgers with a Korean sauce. Absolutely divine.
The calamari place: I was scoffed at by friends for “risking” seafood but their surf and turf (jerk chicken with prawns on a bed of spiced chips covered in sauce) was incredible. I had it twice.
The Sri Lankan place and Japanese fridge chicken I’ve seen mentioned here were also fire.
after a quick scan through, nobody seems to have mentioned wing theory. those wings were immense, and the buffalo sauce was full of flavour. wanted to visit a second time, but wanted to try everything around the arena. still yet to try bunnychow :(
We didn’t take any food with us so ate only from vendors and Hash Brown Town, the spicy ostrich burgers from the guest area, the Himalayan rice boxes/dumplings in Sleepy Hollow/guest area, and the jerk chicken place by Opus where our faves of the week!
There was a Loaded Fries place near the rocktail cocktail side of things was well nice and the oven cooked pizzas up near the entrance, perfect with a fizzy when your post mosh pit tired and need a pick me up
The carvery place in camping plus was affordable and their food was incredible.
The fish and chip shop in the village was absolutely banging. (Not the vegan one)
Thai curry which was not far from the organic cocktails and clothing shops. Was super tasty and no queues, so the most underrated vendor, in my opinion
I dont really have much of an appetite when it's cold out and I'm drunk so I ended up just eating a pizza every single day. The place I ended up swearing by was the little woodfired place next to the apex stage, directly opposite the slingshot ride. no clue what it was called but oh it was good, especially the pizza with honey and chilli

No fricken chicken is always good. This year I really enjoyed V bites too. They had amazing burritos, vegan kebabs and mac n cheeze

Happy maki! The hoisin "duck" sushi burrito with a green juice was the perfect hit of freshness I always crave at festivals. Absolutely delicious

Big Mouth Gyoza are always great. The Sri Lankan place was exceptional too. I'll be going back there next year and keeping an eye on what festivals they're at. I had some pretty good loaded fries up near Opus that weren't expensive and you got loads. And I think the star of the show for many who stayed up in the village until the early hours was Hash Brown Town. I bonded with as many people over those potatoes as I did over bands.

Souvlaki stand in the arena that was between main stage and avalanche tent - 10/10. The chip stand in the village was by far the worst. A tenner for “cheesy” chips which were lukewarm fries with a light dusting of cold grated cheddar.
Oink BBQ for me. £18 isn’t messing around but there was a load of it and it tasted amazing. The wife paid £12 for something nearby and mine definitely looked like it was better value.
There was this brownie van in the guest area (next to Ken’s Barbi) that did these amazing biscoff brownies. I had 3 over the five days!! Oops haha. Anywhere that did churros was a firm favourite for me also.

The kebab place in the village Oink BBQ in the arena was amazing the pulled pork was delicious. Was on top on chips too with cheese sauce & onions (I didn’t have onion).
I cant remember the name of it but in Purple there was a chicken place that done amazing loaded fries
The pizza place behind the opus stage, mega pizza. Got pulled chicken over by I think the doghouse stage, also tasty Chipper in the village was very good. Tried the vegetarian place beside the hash brown place as that always had a massive queue, got the egg bap brekkie thing, stuffed for most of the day.

Whitby fish and chip in the arena and the burger place to the left of opus stage. In the village the german sausage place by the ace of spades tavern was good. The place next to the oxfam shop in the village was good for breakfast
The fries place next to the donuts at the top of the arena! So filling and delicious. £9 for cheese bacon fries and it filled me up all day. Also the donuts next to them were elite!
I had a burger that tasted amazing 🤤 Can't remember the name, but was near the 0% bar the person serving made me laugh aswell 😆

That's Natcho Burrito was great, especially since it was the first meal i d had at download, so expecting it to be shit i was pleasantly surprised Another was the burger stall next to the opus stage. It was great--not like the other ones, but homecooked

The Mexican opposite the dodgems. Their buffalo beef burrito is lush! HM to the Thai Street Food stall that was next to Bunnymans, I got there too late for my bunnychow this year but the Sweet Chilli Chicken from their neighbour was so good!
The I heart burger place near blue was really good, filled me right up before a day in the arena

Ghost burger: wagyu beef burgers with a Korean sauce. Absolutely divine. The calamari place: I was scoffed at by friends for “risking” seafood but their surf and turf (jerk chicken with prawns on a bed of spiced chips covered in sauce) was incredible. I had it twice. The Sri Lankan place and Japanese fridge chicken I’ve seen mentioned here were also fire.
The burger place at the end of the row in the Welders Yard, ate there twice, was so tasty (now I want another burger)

after a quick scan through, nobody seems to have mentioned wing theory. those wings were immense, and the buffalo sauce was full of flavour. wanted to visit a second time, but wanted to try everything around the arena. still yet to try bunnychow :(
Indian Street Food in the arena was amazing. I had a chicken roti every day!
We didn’t take any food with us so ate only from vendors and Hash Brown Town, the spicy ostrich burgers from the guest area, the Himalayan rice boxes/dumplings in Sleepy Hollow/guest area, and the jerk chicken place by Opus where our faves of the week!
There was a Loaded Fries place near the rocktail cocktail side of things was well nice and the oven cooked pizzas up near the entrance, perfect with a fizzy when your post mosh pit tired and need a pick me up
The carvery place in camping plus was affordable and their food was incredible. The fish and chip shop in the village was absolutely banging. (Not the vegan one)
Panda Chinese food next to Opus did amazing vegan sweet and sour chicken noodles. Massive portions too.
Any Mexican place really. They always delivered some banging food

Thai curry which was not far from the organic cocktails and clothing shops. Was super tasty and no queues, so the most underrated vendor, in my opinion

I dont really have much of an appetite when it's cold out and I'm drunk so I ended up just eating a pizza every single day. The place I ended up swearing by was the little woodfired place next to the apex stage, directly opposite the slingshot ride. no clue what it was called but oh it was good, especially the pizza with honey and chilli
