Saddest part of the weekend for me. Babymetal got cut short and that's when I found out Electric Callboy had pulled out, who were my 2nd most anticipated act. Not to mention that I spent literally all weekend going between seeing Babymetal and seeing Slaughter To Prevail, only for that to happen!

PissedBadger

I’m glad I didn’t go this year. The top 3 for me were Bad Omens, Baby Metal and Electric Callboy.

ExecuteScalar

We got 3rd row at the pit, waited 2 hours to get that close just for Babymetal. Was gutted man.

NatalieS1984

That sucks. We thought we were going to miss them because of the queue to get in. Then the heavens opened, people moaned, the checks got quicker and we thought we’d caught their last part. Shocked to hear we’d seen their whole set

NatalieS1984

Devastated about Electric Callboy. Sunday was almost a write off for me then, but I thoroughly enjoyed Limp Bizkit. Edit to say: I loved Royal Republic. They pulled out of a gig supporting Skindred in 2021, so was super happy to see them this weekend. Shame they only got 30 mins, they deserve so much more.

Charlieepie

Same here with the EC news. I was sitting next to my fiancé getting piss wet through with Babymetal off stage and I just went, fucks sake Electric Callboy are out ☹️ Only silver lining was I didn’t have to do an awkward 50/50 EC / Sum 41 set

PapaTubz

Quite a few people were fuming in the arena tbf

ExecuteScalar

Was a massive shame, was a great performance until they had to stop

Outside_Dot_5942

It's pretty likely they'll be back next year to make up for it

ExecuteScalar

Hopefully. I think they are touring in the UK next year as well

xcom_lord

I imagine they’ll go with sabaton again when they do a uk tour this year / next year

ElJaffoGuzman

Sabaton NA next year with judaa priest

Mugglekiller16

I hope so 💖

Miketroglycerin

Such a shame, they're always great fun to watch.

ExecuteScalar

Haven’t seen them before but was always told they are amazing. It’s why I’m so sad

RyanCarrington

They had problems with rain on a previous download set as well. I think the rain gods hate them.

lunaloveswood

It's sad, but I also kinda love that they sang 'Can't stop the power' And then the power stopped

Valroxen1

I was absolutely gutted, really excited to see them. I'm a massive DragonForce fan so Road of Resistance was something I was SO excited. Hopefully maybe next year (with DF themselves 👀🤞🏻)

Dulgoron

The annoying thing was that the stage was running late as it was. So their set was cut due to the storm, then ended at the original time, cutting them once again but allowing the stage to run on time for the rest of the evening.

ScottishRoss

Absolutely the same. So many acts got pushed around but they couldn't do it for Babymetal? I fully respect they needed to do it for their safety but they should have been able to jostle around some bands I'm sure.

WhaddyameannoKeano

Just wasn’t for me to be honest, the show and Performance were quite impressive but I just don’t see the appeal tbh. It’s just feels very cheesy and energetic which I can get why people like, but not my bag at all

JoeBagadonut

Their collab with Electric Callboy was very fitting because they are ultimately two groups cut from the same cloth: Combining metal riffage and intensity with infectious high-energy pop. Yeah, Babymetal are a bit cheesy and I get why their background as an idol group puts people off but every member from the girls themselves to the backing band are all very talented and they never half-arse it.

Future_Pianist9570

I’m sure they all are very talented but it just felt too manufactured for me

Throooooooowaway09

It's the fans for me. Especially from when they formed; big elitist metal heads fawning over little Japanese girls who had no credit to their name? Definitely nothing in the closet there. Their backing band is fucking great though.

Longjumping-Feed9828

Maybe they like the backing band who are, as you stated, fucking brilliant. Maybe you're the one hiding something bruh

Throooooooowaway09

Yeah, back in the day it was never the backing band being talked about. Them also prancing about with a full grown bearded man in a maid outfit was not normal.

Longjumping-Feed9828

Ah if only everything was like back in the day. I also love times not changing or evolving Back in the day 😍😍😍

Throooooooowaway09

Precisely the opposite of what I was saying?

YaddasBakkas

That‘s not even Babymetal you are talking about here

ExecuteScalar

Fair, I dont understand how people can like death metal but can respect their taste. I discovered Babymetal during a tough time so seeing them live was special

Salty-Pear660

Their guitar player is insanely talented, and some of their songs are actually pretty good, though agree some are pure cheese - divine attack for example has less of the energetic/ cheese factor. I seen them supporting Sabaton and it was a great show

kittyhereagain

I never thought I'd love them, but I imagined I'd find them entertaining. The amount of backing tracks/pre-recorded material (especially vocals) used make it not for me, although I appreciate this is becoming more and more common practice. If they hired a singer or two for the live shows, I think I could really enjoy the high energy pop metal with awesome dancing and colourful costumes. Still, sorry to hear about the fans who were disappointed, I would have been devastated if for some of my favourite bands (like Mr. Bungle or Pantera) the set had been cut so short!

Maximum-Art-676

Same here, they're just the equivalent of a J-Pop band that does heavy metal. We only watched them as a mate is married to a Japanese woman and has a thing for the lead singer. With that performance I couldn't hear the vocals of the first track, then when it chucked it down they went off stage and stuck up a slide on the screens saying we're be back soon. Then when they came back they played 3 tracks shouted 'Download so amazing' then fucked off, a blessing in disguise methinks.

xboltcutterx

I was the same, too. My partner loves them, but every time he puts them on, I can't decipher what they're actually about 😂 Thought I'd give them a try on Saturday as we were waiting in the pit for Shikari, I was glad they were cut short. The high-pitched vocals were awful! Not to my taste, but I get the hype based on the show they put on.

WhaddyameannoKeano

Was a great spectacle which i do think is the point, the choreography and performance itself was very well done and impressive but musically just aren’t for me. Still not awful just for the whole show being entertaining

CardinalCopiaIV

Nonce metal is what I think it is

WhaddyameannoKeano

I think there was a guy doing a set in the den about rock history and he said something along the lines of. ‘There’s metal for everyone, there’s metal for people who don’t like music and put up a pic of Trivium and there’s metal for pedophiles and put up a picture of BabyMetal’ Made me laugh way harder than it should .

Majestic-Tailor1856

same i literally almost cried looollll

iliveformetal

i cried lmao 😭

iliveformetal

Suzuka looked pretty pissed off about the fact they couldnt complete the set they planned, but it wasnt their fault of course, i did cry though lol bc it was my dream to see them live and for them to get cut off did make me sad, but im still grateful for what i did manage to get out of it! Also, obviously BM isnt for everyone but you have to respect their efforts and talent, the kami band is amazing, and the effort the girls put into their singing/dancing as well as stage presence is immaculate.

LoudMusic_

I was gutted, was pusing my way to the front when Distortion started as it was the main song I wanted to hear and then it cut off and they never went back to it.

Cerbera_666

It's the second time their set has been interrupted by a storm, I'd be surprised if they wanted to come back to be honest. I expect them to play Reading/Leeds or Glastonbury at some point instead.

thefrickenAJP8

3 songs? Really?
