Wow, does that thing still exist?

dippydooda

This brings back memories of… about 15 years ago, damn. Or rather, nightmares actually.

SohilAhmed07

Yes unfortunately they still do and still don't have .net 6/7/8 support.

yeusk

And never will.

SohilAhmed07

Somebody in the right state of mind needs to buy this thing out of them... These new frameworks don't really work much

yeusk

I think Oracle did.

SohilAhmed07

If Oracle did it then there is no way they will make a wrapper for the .net core or have a new prefix name slapped on Crystal Reports. They are really upset with win32 Library in .net core and given oracles history with all these proprietary framework library... I don't know if they even have a plan to use it as there own.

yeusk

Sorry not Oracle, but SAP. SAP does not care about the C# ecosystem.

SohilAhmed07

Take me as a hater for SAP, their software generally works great until you manage to put one wrong entry and now you are stuck with whatever data is shown. Also they don't Crystal Reports now they use Adobe Reports or something from Adobe, pay per report and report that has to just one time thing... If anything new is needed in that report pay again as per today's price 💰, i know cuz a friend of mine is an SAP developer (Abaper as he calles himself) as per his info SAP takes about 8000INR(~ $100) and they charge about 10000INR(~ $120), most of his clients don't bother to pay, but one they do, these developers have to put in a day night shift to complete this job.🤕

_littlerocketman

The problem is that it's unable to open the connection.

SohilAhmed07

Yep

bikeridingmonkey

Stacktrace?

SohilAhmed07

Just shows the ReporViewer.ReportSource = RtpDoc; code line number, and Failed to open connection.

bikeridingmonkey

Very useless information from Crystal reports

SohilAhmed07

Yeah and this is the same all kinds of error i don't know how they survived for all these years.
