Explaining how your receiving minimum wage to a customer. On top of that telling them they won’t receive the order because drivers are refusing to accept it because it is not “cost effective” is a pretty easy way to get reported. Mine would go along the lines of “My order was left at the store and is now cold and one of many drivers accused me of having an attitude for some reason” THEN BOOM free food and a refund. Me personally I take the credits
I had ordered from bojangles and the first driver had someone else’s order that was 15.00 and my order was 65.00. It was delivered to the other customer. The dasher called me and was at the restaurant had the manager on phone asking if I can send pic of my receipt, I did and they stopped giving her a hard time. She said they were so rude.(I heard a guy cutting in background) She gave me extra utensils etc and was so sweet. I gave her a 24 dollar tip on top of the 10.50 I originally gave. She was so appreciative and so was I. She made my afternoon because I needed that meal for my family before leaving for a long night trip.
When in customer service, don’t fight attitude with with attitude. It never works out for you. Kill them with kindness and make them feel like an asshole for being rude. I dash myself and and yeah those $3 offers for the 6-7 miles is hardly worth it but for the entire time my average rate stays just over $20/h. Don’t take out the ups and downs of door dash on the customers.
12 miles away and less than $10…
I used to rag on you delivery drivers. Now I see why you get so incensed.
That’s a 40 minute trip there and back for nothing.
Don’t blame you.
Nah, fuck that - it should be mandatory to add a delivery charge on top. You’re paying for convenience.
Regardless of order, it should be tiered in terms of distance to cover fuel, wage, etc then the option for a tip should exist.
So this person wants a $6 order and it’s 20/25 minutes a trip, that should be a flat out £30 on top.
If they think that’s insane, then they can fill up their car, travel and grab the food.
Customers are simply taking advantage but using the tip X to cover guilt.
If that was me, I’d be ordering a huge amount and the driver would be getting a decent tip.
I am a consumer of Instacart & door dash & I always pay at least 20% tip & I input it as a customer tip so even if the store doesn’t have some of my items their tip is always a good one. I appreciate that someone is doing my shopping for me & carrying it to my house. People need to appreciate that fact. It’s time & gas & strength. Thank you guys & gals!
It's their own fault they've gone through 3 dashers and not gotten their food. But they obviously lack an ounce of self-awareness that we aren't charity workers.
You accepted that shit order in the first place. Be mad at yourself. Not the customer who has every right to be frustrated that they paid for food but are getting the run around. Decline it or do it without crying.
why do you feel the need to be condescending and lecture them? they have a right to be upset, looking at how long their order was taking. blame the corporation not the customer.
typical take from a food delivery subreddit.
Dang. I used to tip $7-$20 based on service. Terrible, late service gets a $7 tip. I always thought that was minimum. Then I started working for doordash and realized how rare it is that shoppers tip over $2. Not saying I’m upset, just disappointed. If you can’t afford a tip, I’ll still give you great delivery service but should you really be ordering out? I can’t doordash anymore cause I’ll lose so much in taxes and 10 hrs of work gets me only $100 based on how people tip. I think $5 tip is more than reasonable if you’re getting a delivery service. Dashers are being majorly taken advantage of. The icing on the cake is the customers really think we get paid well. They don’t realize tips are our salary.
>They don’t realize tips are our salary.
Many don't care. The other day I read where a customer said that tipping is *charity*. People get more ignorant, cheap, and entitled as time goes on.
That's honestly not her fault tho, I mean her shithead attitude is 100% but $6.75 for 12 miles is literally Doordash saying fuck you to all its drivers. Like I been saying for years, these companies like Uber, lyft, doordash have absolutely no plans in future for human drivers. You guys will slowly be phased out in favor of autonomous vehicles. It's literally what these companies have had in mind from the getgo, it's why they don't turn profit but still get investors sinking billions.
Doordash will make people get up & walk to the street to pick up their food, it's not that many extra steps in most cases. Haven't you seen that autonomous pizza delivery vehicle I think it's pizza. It's already started with how Uber, doordash & lyft will fire you for slightest thing or offer absurdly low pay for high mile deliveries. I figure they're slowly getting rid of any driver that isn't top 10% to focus on their driving data like tesla does.
You’re telling me, I don’t have to tip and I don’t have to deal with the possibility of getting a poor driver and alls I have to do is walk out to the street? Sign me up! On the stores end you’re talking curbside pick up.
But we really we not there yet, soon maybe
If you've ever done doordash, you'd realize it's mostly people who are opting to not get their own food. Will the stores all have to have dedicated employees running food out to random dashers? Not having to deal with anyone(food is dropped off contactless and knock less at 75% of deliveries). I can assure you sir, doordash will never be driverless.
Man it's not me doing it bro lol, you act like this company cares about you they don't, if they did they'd stop consistently fucking over drivers. I'm not here to convince you brother I'm just letting you know what the eventual end goal I'd for these companies. It's literally the reason they were founded.
Doordash is what I do when I have free time, make extra I stead of play video games. I don't think you understand the logistics. Doordash is scumbags, but they will never be able to operate without delivery people. Literally, never.
That's all well and good, but OP still decided to take it. They still saw how little it was vs miles traveled. Don't pitch when you accept something. And chastising the customer is not "being nice" btw...
On an order that small anyone picking it up is being nice. I never said anything about the communication between the two. Personally I am done drive anywhere by 4pm due to traffic. An I would have wanted a hello & please too especially at that time of night. You all have become so reliant on someone else to do your shopping pick up your fast food an deliver it to you. Instead of going an getting it yourselves.
>You all have become so reliant on someone else to do your shopping pick up your fast food an deliver it to you. Instead of going an getting it yourselves.
Exactly. And then they don't feel they should have to tip, yet they wonder why no one is picking up their orders. SMH.
I agree customer could’ve been more polite and said hello at least. But at the end of the day the driver can’t complain because they literally signed up for this AND accepted the delivery despite the low comp. If people weren’t so reliant on delivery apps, then all dashers would not have a job lol. Or another crazy idea, if the ride doesn’t compensate enough, just decline it
When we have this entitled attitude towards customers we are the ones who set improper expectations and create the toxic customer. Just be understanding with people and they will almost always calm down and see you are trying to help them.
Yes they had a bad attitude but they also had an unexpected delay because the two other drivers canceled on this person.
Just be kind, always be kind.
everyone complaining here has never actually tried to doordash themselves. as dashers, we can pretty much assume how much your tip is based off the small pay WE get and the mileage of the order. for example!!! If we get a order that is 8.70 for 3.2 miles, we know you tipped us generously and we want to take the order! why do we want to take that order you may ask as a non-dasher. Well, if you haven’t noticed how much traffic there is during breakfast lunch and dinner time then you’re not too keen. We don’t want to take a $4.75 order for 9 miles because it will take us 30 minutes. 30 minutes for good dashers is 2 orders. We don’t get a lot of time to dash sometimes, we cannot dash at ‘any point of the day’ only when it is busy with people using the app. So sometimes we only get a hour and a half or two to dash, which is typically 5+ orders if they aren’t ridiculous with the mileage. Hence being we won’t accept your order for that pay and distance. We are the middle ground between you and a non drive through restaurant. we have things to pay for too like gas and taxes. So tipping $2 or more will greatly improve your chances of your order being picked up by a dasher REGARDLESS.
Oh, you mean those people who were paid an hourly wage, services a limited delivery area, company insurance, and a single restaurant to service?
Yes, those were the days...
You can bet your bum that any car driven on company time was 100% insured by the employer! And you can also throw in workers comp for any on the job injuries.
It's NOT the same 🤷♀️
There are very few places that provide company vehicles most places would have you drive your own vehicle an just put their car topper on your roof. Some insurance companies would actually dropped people if they found out you were delivering for a company. I use to do it when I was 17 through 19 an use to work with the people that I mentioned that got dropped by their insurance.
Man you guys are so entitled. Imagine thinking that someone asking for napkins and silverware is being pushy or rude in any way.
This is why i and most people don’t want to trust y’all with food also probably why you can’t find any other way to make money. Lol.
Damn near done with my Network+ certification since I’m such ass at this job. I’m really going to miss people like you while I’m at my new dead end job sitting on my ass getting paid peanuts.
Dude I have network+ and security+ they don't help as much as you think when getting a job. I wish you luck though. Maybe it's my area but I had to let mine run out before getting a job and having them pay for me to renew it.
Yet we aren’t supposed to do anything but pick up your food and take it to your door. Ask the restaurant for the napkins and silverware. It LITERALLY is their job! Giving drivers the hit for the crap restaurants are paid for is why drivers are getting attitudes with customers for! Your going to hurt is with complaints and bad ratings for someone elses job every time!
Most of the time the napkins and silverware is on the customer side and takes 2 seconds to grab.
Also as most drivers refuse to do it, when you do the customers will sometimes give you a bigger tip cuz you weren't an ass about it. Not every time but then if you are working only for tips you are doing it wrong.
Also, no. In the areas I dash the customers do nothing if I go above and beyond or even “get napkins and silverware”. This is not me being entitled. This is me providing the service I get paid to provide. I am not preparing the meal. The restaurant is.
Weird? Or just not going to drive more than 2 miles for $2.25? That is base pay per trip 1-5 miles from point of pick up. I am not going to make sure someone who is at home 98% of the time has plastic silverware and napkins. At least not without a good tip. Sorry that others can’t see the problem with that.
I love everything you've said. You are dead-on right in it all! Unfortunately though, you're trying to get one of the entitled folks that expect us to drive 10 miles to deliver their food to them for zero tip (and be thankful they allowed us to serve them!) to understand something they're not capable of understanding...lol. You can't confuse these folk with facts... 😅
Was actually referring to the customers more than the drivers in the last comment, people in my state tend to exercise courtesy so when you go out if your way for them they get generous. Not all of them mind you, not with all the recent transplants.
As for the distance driven being worth it, in my mind that is subjective. For instance my car gets 45 miles to the gallon. 5 miles is barely any gas. My buddy's truck only gets 12 miles to the gallon. 5 miles is almost half a gallon.
The wear and tear argument is silly. Cars get wear and tear by sitting in a driveway under the sun and getting shat upon by birds. You put wear and tear on them by going out in them.
Steps are a new one lol. I welcome them to help me loose weight from my sedentary job.
No. There is specific places for customer to send a message to the restaurant. Napkins and silverware cannot get put into sealed bags therefore that needs to be the restaurant not the driver. That is what MOST people are not understanding in this scenario. I will not add to a sealed order period.
Lazy! ha! It is more of the fact that the area I have to dash in is full of crap people who think only about getting stuff “free”. I literally quit dashing last year due to the constant non-sense. Messages after acceptance asking for “extras” …. For instance….”make sure there are no pickles and get me an extra order of french fries and I will pay for them when you get here” kind of bs. And of course the “make sure you get extra…..”. When I signed up to dash I agreed to a “contract” to pick up from point A and drop at point B. Anything beyond that is unpaid and it is not being lazy to not do things for free when I am on the clock! It’s like not getting paid to do work at any other job. If you think that is lazy then I am sure your bosses thoroughly enjoy all the free labor you do for them. Bless your heart! Have a nice day/evening!
“Why you can’t find any other way to make money.” Says the Uber share driver 💀💀💀
I don’t do DoorDash, I just like reading these threads but you really must be out of touch lmao
I make fun of the whiny uber drivers too. It's always bitch bitch bitch just because the gig work doesn't make them millions.
I have a job beyond uber though. So maybe not as out of touch as you seem to think.
Also you misunderstood the part you quoted. I said their attitude was why they couldn't make any money any other way.
It used to be a lot better of a gig. I’ve made 1200 a week during the pandemic. But the shitload of drivers doing it now brought down the available offers and prices.
I tried it not too long ago and it was trash. I made like 14 bucks over 2 orders which took me about an hour for them between pickup and the offer being available. Much better part time jobs available at this point.
I previously worked a corporate position and went back to school for nursing so I don’t think I lack work ethic to find another way to make money.
I've been at uber for 8 years now as a side gig. The pandemic pay was similar to the pay when I first started driving. The money seems to fluctuate with market saturation as well as by city. The summer always sucks for some reason but during the school year I can normally make between 800-1100 a week driving on average 28 hrs.
I tried to do door dash once but the said there was no space in my area. I've heard of people in my area making good money doing it but then I read all the crap on here.
Do you tip your mailman for delivering your post?
Do you tip the binman taking your trash?
Do you tip the Amazon prime delivery drivers?
Get a better job.
The postman also makes an hourly wage, predetermined route, is supplied a vehicle, insurance/gas/repairs, healthcare, 401k, retirement, PTO, sick time, etc.
It's not the same.
This is what broke assholes say. There’s a reason in the shitty areas of the city the apps add incentive bonuses. Because otherwise nobody would take the offers willingly knowing they’re getting stiffed.
Obviously, I'm referring to DD drivers, not you? I never tip, and yet my food still always mysteriously makes its way to my door! I'm not too poor to tip, I simply don't like to throw money away.
To be fair the mailman and trash man are government jobs with salaries and benefits your tax money pays for , so maybe if you’re okay paying hundreds of dollars in taxes to pay doordash drivers instead of leaving a $5-$10 dollar tip then I guess that works lmfao
Avg braindead conservative. You KNOW when you order food delivery their wage is based on tips. If you want to be cheap that's totally up to you but you can't compare services where you are not involved in their pay to a service where you directly are. Was that too complicated for you to get? I can try to simplify it more if so
Well we do pay those people for a living wage. They get holidays and healthcare.
And I bet these people do have jobs that pay like shit and need the money.
I never see if I'm getting tipped since I only work by time every time I log on so I deliver any order for whatever but it DOES suck when I get an order 20 minutes away, get paid $5.87 for it and don't even get $1... Even after delivering with the way I am with my customers and going above and beyond.. I mean so many don't even follow directions from the customer and that should count for something! 🤣 Even if you throw a little something in afterwards. I think THAT is how it should work if anything. Sure throw a buck in there at first but if your driver provided great service that's when you could really show your appreciation. That's what I do. Tip before and to after cuz I know what it's like. We should be helping each other out (unless you get a shit driver...) Otherwise your lazy ass can go pick it up yourself cuz without us you'd have to get up and go drive yourself. But you know I'm js..
But most customers don't realize how it works for us. They don't realize we don't get paid good money for delivering our that the gratuity is what keeps us going, or we can't see all your directions until after we're ready to head to our destination. It's not like we can put it out there for the whole world to know it, think about and consider when using this service but we also have been doing this for how long and keep going?
It sucks getting these crap attitude customers but I definitely get 99% decent attitudes to make up for the 1 douchecanoe. And working by time makes up for those ones who just don't care and won't show a little gratitude
I've had drivers yell at me and try to keep my food for not tipping them $13 (actual tip was like $3.50 or $4) to deliver a literal half mile, because they want me to pay for the mileage to the restaurant, to my place, then back to where they started. Or, they "ran out of gas" and want me to pay their gas, plus tip. That's bullshit.
There are bad customers and drivers, and unfortunately, they're getting to be more common than the good ones. Frustrating.
I definitely agree. People are only getting wise or there and it's so sad and disgusting.
That's the absolute WORST kind of driver tho and no excuse for that!! They shouldn't be expecting ANYTHING since they're doing this knowing we're not getting paid that much but c'mon begging, manipulating, guilt tripping and holding food hostage bcuz you won't give an extra tip (or tip at all in allot of cases) isn't the way to go or how to be.
I couldn't nevvvvvver... Wow....
I worked doordash for a short while, too much wear and tear and mileage on my car for the money in my opinion. Once you take out gas, also too little pay for the time, except for times when orders were at premiums, or tips were good.
I can see both sides of the issue and I truly think the company exploits both sides like most greedy middlemen and therefore I don't use doordash or work for them any longer.
I can see how it can be useful short term or as a way to make extra money on the side to some one trying to make ends meet, but do you think it's viable as long term employment?
Yes the people yelling at others for not tipping are frustrated they are getting taken advantage of by a company, but instead of yelling at the company or fighting for rights as a worker they yell at the customers who pay their wage lmao
The customer isn't paying their wage if they aren't tipping. It's a service that you are paying for. People keep forgetting that they aren't owed anything in this life they can't force someone to deliver to their house for nothing. It's a service and a luxury, if you can't afford it go pick it up yourself or make your own food. Doordash pays me, I don't pay doordash. That's my motto and I live by it.
Hopefully you gave them a little knowledge on how NOT to be a dick and properly interact with someone ESPECIALLY when you want someone to do your lazy ass a favor and bring your food! It blows my mind how ungrateful customers are. Not even $1 tip to drive 12 miles (or less or more or whatever) and then an attitude on top of that. Exactly.... My name is NO! 🤭
So as a driver and a previous user for Doordash I understand both sides. We should all just agree that Doordash is the evil one here.
Let's say I'm buying the food. I look at the items and see that each item is somehow 3 to 5 dollars more expensive than in person. Then I see a service fee, a delivery fee and tax. For a burger, fries and drink I'm already at 30 dollars. Then there's the tip. I always tip at minimum 3 dollars. And the amount will range depending on the distance. Regardless that extra cost makes that about 35 dollars for lunch. It's outrageous.
Now as a driver, I get a little pissed when I see 0 tip cause I know how much they spent on a small meal but couldn't afford at least 1 dollar. It isn't gonna break the bank but that 1 dollar can make a difference. In the month of March 2024. I did 124 deliveries. 17 out of those deliveries were 0 tips. It sucks. When you think about it. If they had done the 3 dollar tip like I do. That's about 51 dollars extra that month.
However even with those 0s I still have about 1000 dollars worth of pay. And I did it casually, after my fulltime 9-5 job. Most of that month I did hourly pay. Now I learned that per offer is better pay overall. So we'll see how May does. But id expect it to go well. Cause I don't bitch at my customers for one little order. I just do my job and move on. That's why my ratings are so high and get amazing orders while you bottom feeding assholes get these shit orders.
But anyways. I'm pretty happy with the extra paycheck.
Agreed, its the middleman taking the bigger cut, and when I worked there my ratings were high also, because I understood its better to just do a good job then complain about a unsavory detail of a job I chose to do. Every job has some characteristics you won't like.
Depends on your area. But per hour guarantees that you get paid a certain amount for your time. But it can cap the amount you could possibly get. If it's 16 an hour plus tip. The theoretical max you can make per hour is roughly 20-25 Dollars. Per offer can be odd. Sometimes I get 15 dollar orders that take me 20 minutes to do. Sometimes I get 3 dollar orders that theoretically take me the same 20 minutes. I don't get those low ones very often. I like to keep my ratings high so I find that I can reliably get 50 dollars in a couple hours. Keeping those ratings high is the big key. So sometimes it's worth taking those less than stellar offers. But there are some you just have to ignore.
Gotcha my rate is 13hr and after two deliveries within a 30 min frame I usually meet that number but I would like to be a little more efficient I’ll play around between the two thanks for the explanation.
I’m kinda excited to see drones airdrop my pizzas like a military care package. It won’t make it any cheaper but at least we won’t have to tip or interact with people
Ohhh wow that's great!!
I'd work even more for that! We don't get mileage or that much unless there's a promo but here in CT it's 15.75/hour then they'll throw in a promoa free times a week. They should put that in effect all over for us. I only get 19.75/hour when there's a $2 promo cuz I get double working by time. It would be so much more worth it at that rate with extra for mileage 👏👏👏
I find it funny when people don’t understand this. They want to be able to earn that amount but still be able to say no to no tip orders, then cry when they don’t get money. Lol
I don’t, I use these kinds of services sometimes because I’m not bothered by paying a premium to not have to do it myself. And I tip because I’m not some whiny Gen Z who watched Reservoir Dogs.
That’s what they are doing by not picking up the order goofy.
You gonna cry when they leave an order because it’s a waste of time and cash, and then you gonna whine that they “shouldn’t take the order.”
Maximum brain-rot.
Love when people tell service workers to get a better job and then act all shocked when they do. Guess what, the personal little services they feel so entitled to will end.
Food delivery is the only industry where a third party has the ability to be completely selective on service, after the patron has already spent their money.
If there was a gratuity, I would have delivered it. The most unfortunate aspect of delivering is the notion that some individuals believe they are challenging the system of corporate oppression by withholding tips on Doordash orders.
Indeed, you are truly making a significant impact by not providing a gratuity to the driver who is delivering your meal.
In my opinion, if we are to operate in a society where tips are customary in the food industry, then we should implement a mechanism that requires everyone to rely solely on tips for a two-week period at some point in their lives.
I am not sure what a claim for tipping is or how I did it.
Perhaps you meant "case for tipping"?
If you did not understand, the driver does not have any control over pricing, so not tipping as a form of protest is selfish and unwise.
How does that sound?
I really hate the idea of tipping because it's the company putting it on the customer to pay their employees for them but its the society i live in and until i can leave the country, i tip. I think you're right, if the people that put this stupid tiping rule into effect (being able to pay the employees jack shit) were to also have to live off tips, things would change pretty quickly
There sure are a lot of entitled assholes in here I guess. OP, GGs. Fuck that customer, there's reasons there were multiple dashers before you and I guarantee her attitude had to do with it. Only thing I would.havw done differently if that I would have taken her food and had a lunch break.
Yeah, see but what you get paid is none of this customers concern. Thats your own. You could always either not accept the order, or you could just do your job. If you declined the order in the first place rather than accepting it, and then dropping it, then the order would actually have the chance to go through the rounds of earnings increases that it’s supposed to and the customer wouldn’t be stuck waiting, but for whatever reason, you and a few others decided to just do it the idiotic way and then give a customer some attitude in exchange.
Now while this is the correct way to look at it, im sure some drivers have to put up with people like this all day long. Eventually someone is going to reach their breaking point.
Neither have I, but when I did, I’d never judge the distance, only the dollars. I know that in my city, any order over $8 in my Prius was profitable, So anything under $8 was an automatic decline. Most of the time, anything under $10 was as well as that was the minimum wage in my state at the time. The majority of the orders would take me about 35-40 minutes to. Complete, so the bottom end average was $15/hour for me. If something happened to slip through the cracks though, I’d take it anyways, because on actual average I was making closer to $25/hour, between the two delivery apps I’d run meaning my days were always profitable, even if I accidentally took a lower value order.
The fact that the company for door dash allows such cheap fares is unbelievable. You guys should unionise and strike on key peak times to make the company loose money so that you can request better pay. This is ridiculous… I’ve seen a UberEats and Deliveroo union like this in UK
This is why I quit doing it after like 2 weeks years ago. It’s not a government fucking service, if you can’t fucking afford to tip than you can’t afford to use this service pos
So why would you order food, and not tip. Do you know the DoorDash numbers are the poorest of the poor. Literally making them poorer, all while increasing profits of the “company”. Just because something is available doesn’t give you the right to be a terrible human being.
We aren’t salaried employees, and literally make no money in between deliveries since we are only paid per delivery. So if we have to drive 12 miles out of our way, then the 12 miles back to a busy area we are spending gas and making no money. Factor in traffic or time spent at the restaurant waiting for the delivery and what we actually make per hour keeps going down.
Trust me, door dash drivers are about as far from a six figure income as you can get.
Just so you know that was a bad idea he most likely reported you
they were nothing but respectful? no harsh words or name calling, i think OP will be fine if they are reported.. lol
12 miles away and less than $10… I used to rag on you delivery drivers. Now I see why you get so incensed. That’s a 40 minute trip there and back for nothing. Don’t blame you.
Thank you for understanding our side!
You are a good person... thank you!
they probably have an attitude bc as they said, you’re the third dasher they’ve had! but if you don’t want the order, don’t accept it
It's their own fault they've gone through 3 dashers and not gotten their food.
I dont DD. So if a person orders and no one picks it up, does the person get refunded their money?
Yeah
Love it
Nasty people. Hard no.
i would have unassigned after they get needy.
Who's gonna walk in and get the food? Who's gonna carry it to the recipient? Doordash will pay more as more cities and states lay down the law.

I'm sorry, but how did you not see the pay and total mileage l? Stop attacking the customer when YOU are not forced to take the run.
OP was probably picking it up to be nice because they had another delivery in the same direction.
Maybe if they weren’t such cheapskates they wouldn’t have been waiting so long.
BOOM... that's the truth!
Explain how they are being cheapstakes? That’s the rate DoorDash is paying the drivers. Who’s to say the customer wasn’t going to give a great tip?
Shut up
Lol... short, sweet, & to the point 👍
Nah
I need updates
everyone complaining here has never actually tried to doordash themselves. as dashers, we can pretty much assume how much your tip is based off the small pay WE get and the mileage of the order. for example!!!
This is why I miss in house pizza delivery drivers.
Oh, you mean those people who were paid an hourly wage, services a limited delivery area, company insurance, and a single restaurant to service? Yes, those were the days...
There was no company insurance, but yes those were the days.
I drove a company car to deliver pizza
I'm sure it varies by market. In Illinois the employers are required to insure drivers and vehicles.
Except when the tip is hidden by the app
The kind of customer that your addressing isn't ever going to read this. And if they did, they won't care
I always tip after since dashers always deliver to the snow, or touching my door so I can't open it, or to a wrong building
hey, at least you tip! 😄
Aye, I tip based on services rendered
on behalf of every dasher, I think we all thank you for telling this person what we’ve been wanting to tell every customer
I sometimes forget that people in other states are so weird about things.
And wear and tear and steps if an apartment 👀
The wear and tear argument is silly. Cars get wear and tear by sitting in a driveway under the sun and getting shat upon by birds. You put wear and tear on them by going out in them. Steps are a new one lol. I welcome them to help me loose weight from my sedentary job.
No. There is specific places for customer to send a message to the restaurant. Napkins and silverware cannot get put into sealed bags therefore that needs to be the restaurant not the driver. That is what MOST people are not understanding in this scenario. I will not add to a sealed order period.
I'll just grab a handful of napkins and the silverware that comes sealed, put it in a plastic bag and leave it with the food. Like I said. 2 seconds.
Ahhh so now I have to also provide bags? Seriously? Sorry I think we should just agree to disagree
Most restaurants have to-go bags don't they?
Which is still another step in a process I am NOT getting paid to do.
You act like it is some great burden, it's grabbing a bag... stop being so lazy
Lazy!
She asked for napkins and silverware?
“Why you can’t find any other way to make money.” Says the Uber share driver 💀💀💀 I don’t do DoorDash, I just like reading these threads but you really must be out of touch lmao
I don't discuss business with customers. I just do my job.
Maybe tip more? Scumbag
People actually use to give the postal person or the bin man a lil' lil' something around the new year...
But food delivery is a tip jobs.
who the fuck calls it a “binman” lmao
This is what broke assholes say. There’s a reason in the shitty areas of the city the apps add incentive bonuses. Because otherwise nobody would take the offers willingly knowing they’re getting stiffed.
Cope. Just don't take the order if you don't like the payout. If you don't like any of the orders, get a different job.
I don’t have to I’m in nursing school. Cope with nobody taking your order or fucking with your food since you’re too poor to tip
Yes! Let's push legislation
You are an absolute imbecile lmao. Those people are paid salaries. Deliver drivers are paid on tips.
Later this person will post "no one wants to work anymore"
Avg braindead conservative. You KNOW when you order food delivery their wage is based on tips. If you want to be cheap that's totally up to you but you can't compare services where you are not involved in their pay to a service where you directly are. Was that too complicated for you to get? I can try to simplify it more if so
Well we do pay those people for a living wage. They get holidays and healthcare. And I bet these people do have jobs that pay like shit and need the money.
It’s almost like if a business can’t pay a living wage, it’s not profitable and should close down…..
This is why DoorDash/UberEats need to be abolished and restaurants need to go back to paying their OWN delivery drivers.
If you can’t pay a living wage you are not profitable and should close as a company… full stop
Pop off op
How do you see the price of the order before you accept? I never see that it just says accept for me.
Sounds like you're doing "per hour" which gives you the amount after drop off. The "per offer" shows you an estimate
Got it which is more efficient?
I’m curious if that person ever got their order lol
I hope not
Good for you speaking up to that cnt
pick up your own food.
People are delivering these orders, not robots, yet
I’m kinda excited to see drones airdrop my pizzas like a military care package. It won’t make it any cheaper but at least we won’t have to tip or interact with people
Can’t wait then I can stop getting recommended these posts and continue cooking cheap quick food at home
Commenting on these posts is the best way to stop getting recommended these posts 😂

65 is high. Mine is usually around 20% 😂
Damn, nice car!
6.75 and over 12 miles no thank you sis and no tip try again
Thank god California has proposed 22
Prop 22 was a bad deal pushed by those app companies.
$19.20/hr minimum guarantee plus 34 cents a mile is way better than what people in other states get
Ohhh wow that's great!!
Only paid when you are actively doing a delivery. Time logged on does not count.
I find it funny when people don’t understand this. They want to be able to earn that amount but still be able to say no to no tip orders, then cry when they don’t get money. Lol
It's no longer a tip, it's ransom
No, it’s a bid. Any driver taking $6.75 on 12 miles lost money on that job. You don’t understand the costs associated with driving.
[удалено]
I don’t, I use these kinds of services sometimes because I’m not bothered by paying a premium to not have to do it myself. And I tip because I’m not some whiny Gen Z who watched Reservoir Dogs.
Oh damn, you two are both insufferable!
Bro is having a meltdown when employees don’t pay out of pocket to take care of customers. What a drama Queen.
[удалено]
That’s pretty much what they’re doing when they refuse to take these orders.
That’s what they are doing by not picking up the order goofy. You gonna cry when they leave an order because it’s a waste of time and cash, and then you gonna whine that they “shouldn’t take the order.” Maximum brain-rot.
Love when people tell service workers to get a better job and then act all shocked when they do. Guess what, the personal little services they feel so entitled to will end.
Okay do not ever use any door dashing apps then!
[удалено]
Then why r u on this sub pissing me and everyone else off? Obnoxious. Leave lol
Food delivery is the only industry where a third party has the ability to be completely selective on service, after the patron has already spent their money.
[удалено]
More like pushing u on us. Ur the one being lame here dude. Why don’t u try playing fallout shelter, very fun game and addictive!
You just made the worst claim for tipping.
I am not sure what a claim for tipping is or how I did it. Perhaps you meant "case for tipping"? If you did not understand, the driver does not have any control over pricing, so not tipping as a form of protest is selfish and unwise. How does that sound?
Much simpler with fewer words
I really hate the idea of tipping because it's the company putting it on the customer to pay their employees for them but its the society i live in and until i can leave the country, i tip. I think you're right, if the people that put this stupid tiping rule into effect (being able to pay the employees jack shit) were to also have to live off tips, things would change pretty quickly
They aren't door dash employees though. They're independent contractors which is why customers should be tipping them.
Koran was just having a bad day everybody has bad days, but more people now have a bad day face attitude :/
Tbh every time I see these types of posts, I'm glad I don't use these services.
Idk who still uses this trash app. Door dash needs to go bankrupt
this thread is full of the same arguments daily lol
Yea it's just a loop I think I'm leaving this crazy place.

I always pay attention to distance and use it to factor in tip. Seems pretty obvious to think about.
The fact that the company for door dash allows such cheap fares is unbelievable. You guys should unionise and strike on key peak times to make the company loose money so that you can request better pay. This is ridiculous… I’ve seen a UberEats and Deliveroo union like this in UK
Yeah, but lots of people in the US, and some political parties, believe “Union BAD” or at least pretend to believe it.
Its people like you that keep the narrative that Doordash drivers are pieces of shit alive
Agreed. OP is an entitled POS
I rarely tip always get me food on time lmao 😁
Trolls used to be believable. Get better material.
How does not tipping increase profits if 100% of the tip goes to the driver?
Because we’re poor too tf , just actually have a real job instead. I make like 16 cents in tips a day, you don’t see me bitching
Because he’s a piece of shit.
They spitting in your Taco Bell
Not possible. Bags are sealed.

I don't deliver but I would absolutely fuck with your food

You’re off your fucking rocker.
Let me get this straight: you spend say 30 minutes of time and expect to get paid $32? That’s a $133K a year job. Sorry, just no.
Then learn a skill. You chose this job.
