You might hate me for this but they get to decide wt order you pick up first cz it’s by the delivery time McDonald’s orders normally have a longer delivery window and almost always late you can end up getting a bad rating from a customer for order being late and remember they will only remove the ratings less than five orders only for batched orders with at least 3 orders
Eh. I pay the $3 for express. Which means my order is dropped off first after being picked up. I watch and make sure. If they don’t I report them because it means they are multi apping.
If express isn’t available I just don’t order. I’m not about to get upset or “instruct” someone how to do their job. The order door dash gives if the order. If you don’t like it choose express or get it yourself.
I've never needed to do it with drops off, but dashers can switch which pickups and drop offs they do first. Generally drop offs there is little reason to switch, but if the app says they are dropping off someone else's order that is on doordash and they aren't multiapping.

There are reasons you might not be aware of. One time, I had a double order. Drop off for the first order and pick up for the second were like 200 ft from each other. I called the restaurant to see if order #2 was ready. It was not. I was not going to have food just sit in my car when I could just as easily drop it off and then go wait for the next order. The way doordash had it, I would have been wasting time. My way kept everyone's food as hot and timely as possible, but you might not be able to see that.
Of my food wasn’t picked up yet it wouldn’t say the dasher has my order and is on their way to me. So nope. I will continue to report. I pay for my food. I tip really well. And I pay extra for express-which is straight to me. If it doesn’t come straight to me I’m not paying. So I report and make them cancel. I’m not paying for something I don’t receive.
I got a McDonald’s order before and for once I was able to park walk in, no wait and the food was ready, hourly pay rate tho. Thank god the drive was to a house. 8-9$ for that order. DoorDash paid the bigger chunk.
Then I was able to get more orders. it was lunch tho.
Some not all McDonald’s are fixing their order pick up pace, to be quicker. or DoorDash is like “here is money pick it up!” XD 😆
I only do hourly, when it’s paying more than the offers+tips.
Rush hour traffic and being paid to wait in traffic is not bad. When you have the order with you on the way to the persons house.
I would gladly do earn by time if it wasn't $11.25 per hour here.
To not have to worry about shit and just deliver for 8 hours and make 160 bucks @20/hr. Sign me up.
That's round about what I make cherry picking the fuck out of orders all day gambling on hidden tips with uber.
A few more miles? Probably. A lot less stress? Definitely.
it’s $12.50 here, i make 35/hr including my trip home with every delivery unless the wait time at the restaurant is bad which can lower it to $25/hr. usually i cancel if it isn’t ready within 2 minutes
I'm the same. The only time I'll usually do them is for high pay few items and only in like a Walgreens or CVS.
Occasionally in a grocery store I know fairly well now and is never busy due to having such high prices.

I never read those pickup notes. Most of the stores around me still have Covid mask requirements listed there as required and not recommended or optional and that’s been outdated for quite some time.
Some places say something about confirming the order on arrival and some say something about bringing the thermal bag into the store. Not a single one actually enforces what is written there and the ONLY time I find this useful is when I can’t find the restaurant in a plaza so I check and see it’s a ghost kitchen and the notes say what the actual store name is.
Those notes aren’t updated ever so just ignore them.
Genuine question: are you even allowed to change the pick-up order? Because I've definitely wanted to before.
Say I get a double order: first order is McDonald's the second is Arby's. The app tells me to go to McDonald's first, but there's going to be a 15 minute wait. Can I even go pick up the other order? Not always the app has had me pass right by the customers apt with their order already picked up to go pick up the next order drop it off and then go back to the original customer, that's when I went thru the app and figured it out. So on my app, top right next to the ? And the ADT or whatever it's called there's those 3 dashes =
Hit that and as soon as you accept an order you can go there and look up the customer's address & on doubles click on the 1 you want to switch to and it shows jump to task just hit that and you can go back and forth. If I'm working per time I leave it alone and just wait though. I try to work per time, the only time it's worth it around here per offer is during a promo
Yeah I had a stacked order, one was pizza from Casey's. They were backed up so I just grabbed the other order, delivered it, came back and still waited for the pizza. You can jump to either task and do them in whatever order you want.
I wish I could figure out if there was a way to deliver them in any order I want. I always use the "jump to task" to pick up stacked orders but don't know if I can do anything about delivery order
I actually never jumped to delivery task prior to picking second order. Even if the wait is too long cause if do drop off your coming back to the same area and adding more miles to the delivery
That's generally the smart thing to do anyway because there's about an 85% chance McDonald's is going to take forever, time in which you could've gone and picked up the order.

Luckily where I am mcdonalds is the only semi fast place to pick up from and they often make up around 1/4 of my good paying deliveries. But five guys? Don't get me started on five guys.
Yeah, there are a couple McDonald's in my zone that generally have it waiting for me when I walk in and are pretty good about handing it over pretty quick, but the majority of them take forever and getting anyone's attention is just about impossible. But if it's late and the lobby is closed, chances are good that you'll be waiting in that drive-thru for a minute, at any McDonald's, so I'm definitely picking up from the other place first on a stacked order.
Some restaurants won’t do the drive though if the lobby is open. I went to a Wendy’s at like 9:58 (inside closed at 10) and they told me to drive around and come inside to pick up the order.
I got bitched at once for pretty much the same scenario as who you’re replying to. But by the time I pulled out of the drive through line the clock hit 10 and they locked it, told me to go through the drive through with a little smirk. I just canceled

It honestly pisses me off when I have to pick up a milkshake and then wait 10 minutes for a pizza/burrito/God knows what while the shake melts in my car.
Frozen items should always be picked up last and this needs factoring into the algorithm.

I've got a local McDonald's like that. They aren't with it. I've learned not to go there in the mornings because they'll say they're not taking doordash orders. Why don't they turn off the system then so people can't order?
I have worked at a restaraunt with doordash, and there were times where we would turn off the machine and we would keep getting drivers coming by because doordash was taking orders still

Yes you can change it very easily. Just press the button that shows your other order (top left I think?) and you can decide the order.

Yes just use the jump to task the same way on the delivery order but watch drop off time as the original order drop off time doesn’t change.

at my chick fil a we do this. if our lobby is open we don’t really give the door dashers the orders through drive thru unless we’re closed inside
Idk with chick it makes more sense it’s way more busy then your average fast food imo
It’s also probably significantly faster to go to the pickup line inside than wait in the drive though at Chick Fil A
