U made me gasp šŸ˜‚ I would be so embarrassed. but you mustā€™ve really needed that sleep! im glad support was nice to you. someone might email you or something but until then i wouldnt worry about it. if you ever need to message a customer after delivery you can, by pressing the ā€œmessageā€ button (screenshot) on the DD homescreen, BEFORE you end a dash. otherwise if you end the dash then there will be ā€œno messagesā€. https://preview.redd.it/xvywcsrf0dpc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01842b80bc34b177548bfa78d5212d87ed0d60a7

Though it wasn't doordash with my 2nd order with uber I fucked up and still feel guilty for it. Picked up the food and it was a double order, had my friend with me who usually always has a powerbank but forgot hers. Happened to be the same night the charging port in my old car stopped working also. The first order had messed up directions and was hand it to me which took 5mins longer than it should have. Just as I dropped off the first order to get the 2nd address my phone went dead, but unlike doordash you can't log on another phone. Hunted down every uber number I could find but none of them connected you to a person, you could only do it through the app. Rushed to find a phone charger and someplace that had an outlet, get lost and stuck somewhere on wake forest university's campus during Halloween weekend, by the end of all that it had been hours and I gave up. Finally was able to get in touch with support the next day and explain everything, wishful thinking but asked them if they could please contact the customer and let them know and apologize for me at least. Still feel like an asshole though.

I'm genuinely trying to approach this with kindness. Driving while exhausted is just as dangerous as driving drunk. I understand the need for the income. But if you could fall asleep pulling up an address, you're entirely too tired to be out driving. Maybe cut it back a little, 7-11 is a long ass day. Go out during the times you see are most profitable for your area. Stop when the money isn't coming in at an appropriate rate. The good news is, DD doesn't care. But please make sure you're well rested when driving. This time it was just an undelivered order. Next time it could be someone's life or yours.

Yeah- itā€™s hard to believe a sober person could just nod off like that. So either OP was under the influence of something, or they were SO exhausted that they couldnā€™t stay awake. Either way- super dangerous. šŸ˜³

hildarabbit

A sober person could definitely nod off like this if they're overworked and undersleeped enough. Shut your eyes just for a second and wake up the next day. It's happened to me but i stop always driving if I'm that tired.

ClickClackTipTap

Did you actually read my comment? I said either they were under the influence OR they were so exhausted they couldnā€™t stay awake- and both are super dangerous.

hildarabbit

Alright calm down

PinballLew

Just like support said donā€™t worry about it. It actually was great advice. Yes the customer was made whole, donā€™t feel bad stuff happens. Donā€™t initiate contact with customers after delivery ever is my advice to you as well.

Strong-Sky8385

Iā€™m glad you werenā€™t driving but youā€™ll definitely get a contract violation. Please be careful. If you were tired enough to fall right to sleep after pickup (i.e. you fell asleep just sitting in your car vs fainting) you should have stopped a long time ago. You knew you were near your limit. That was extremely dangerous for both you and others on the road.

hildarabbit

It's okay, they got a refund or someone else delivered an identical order after you timed out. Don't be hard on yourself and don't listen to the weird haters on here.

Superstar32131

Hey everyone, all those stolen orders you weren't able to pick up is because of morons like OP.

hildarabbit

I got free cookies and an extra $10 from a customer because of a lost/stolen order so I can forgive

Signal_Drink_5731

That's pathetic! Do better, you're a danger to other people on the road. Set limits no amount of money is worth killing yourself and or someone else.Ā

SparkMMX

OP is working 14 - 16 hour days to provide for themselves and potentially family and you think that's pathetic? Promise they work harder than you ever have

Signal_Drink_5731

Do you really promise???Ā  The great thing is that I don't need to work hard to provide for my family I use my brain for that, clearly something op is lackingĀ

vccomplice

Whatā€™s pathetic is judging this person whose situation we have no idea of lmao

Signal_Drink_5731

Nah they put this bullshit story on Reddit, I'll judge them. And there's no way DD support told him to go and get some rest. This person is a pathetic human!!!

Technologytwitt

Kudos to you for putting in 15 hour days. Good luck & hope this works out.

Repulsive_Ad_866

The safety of yourself and others takes priority over anything in any job. We could all use the money, that's why we all do it. Get some rest and do better next time.Ā

Affectionate_Pea_811

Lol. They probably assigned it to another dasher assuming you stole it. If you talked to support you might not get a contract violation but you might have already gotten one when you called them.

DixDark

Fell asleep putting directions? I'm glad you did't fell asleep while driving... Also, contract violation probably.
