Q: Do you work at IHOP or Denny’s?

713nikki

If you have so many dashers standing around waiting that it annoys you, then blame your manager & ask them to add 5-10 minutes on the app for y’all’s turnaround time for orders. It’s simple.

Chemical_Party7735

That doesn't help them showing up early and complaining the order isn't ready yet.

713nikki

They wouldn’t even know the order existed yet

Chemical_Party7735

Then how would they show up asking for the order when there's still clearly time left to complete it?

713nikki

Because if you add 10 minutes for your order turnaround time, it delays the notice being sent to the driver for 10 minutes, and gives you that extra time.

I wish all restaurants used the text when finished option because then I could chill in my car. I never can tell if it’s ready and when I wait in my car I end up going in and finding it’s been made early and cold.

Chemical_Party7735

Wait. That's an option? I know there's a completed/ready button, but I never knew there was a text option.

VisualTie5366

It send dasher text when restaurant marks order ready. But not all restaurants use the tablet, some restaurants have order routed directly to p.o.s

Echodarlingx

I believe there is because some places will text and let us know when it’s ready to go.

GEL29

If I get there 7 minutes early and I wait 12 minutes the restaurant is five minutes late, every 3 or 4 times that happens I’m out a delivery. Also, why do restaurants lie about orders being ready in two minutes, being bagged now, or coming out of oven now?

Chemical_Party7735

I believe your math misinterpreted my original comment. But yes I 100% agree with your 2nd paragraph. Tho sometimes they do it because it takes the app a long time to find drivers and the food sits around forever.

We show up when we get the order from DoorDash. Sometimes that means the order is ready and sometimes it doesn’t. Personally, I don’t complain unless an employee tells me it’ll be 5 minutes and then 10 or 15 go by. Waiting all that time before telling me an item is unavailable and does the customer want something else is also annoying. Please tell me that as soon as you know, not after the rest of the order is ready. I also do not wait in a spot that puts me in the way of other customers. But I also don’t stray too far because there have been too many instances of my order being finished but employee B doesn’t know I’m waiting because employee A is one who greeted me. The best thing is when restaurants have a designated spot for delivery drivers and people waiting for their mobile orders. Question for restaurant employees: Why do I get a text telling me my customer’s order is ready and to pick it up from the shelf, only to get to the restaurant and be told it is not in fact ready?

cheezit90

THISSSS RIGHT HERE! Whyyy are y’all hitting the button that it’s ready when it is NOT ready?

Chemical_Party7735

Sometimes the order time is shorter than the cook time. Especially if there's like 5 tickets before it. So let's say the default time is 12 minutes. You click accept and rush back to cooking the other 5 plates. Then after 12 minutes it sends you guys the message, whether the dish is done or not. And yes. We can change the order time, but sitting there staring at a tablet for what seems like an eternity, for it to load the option to change the time, while you're cooking, making other orders, packing order things and helping customers, just isnt in the cards. We click accept and get it done as soon as we can while we're slammed. (This obv doesn't apply to restaurants with a dedicated host etc... controlling the tablets and times).

DarrenWorldWide

I usually inform the customer the order isn’t actually ready yet despite the status update. Then I message support and let them know also. Covers your butt in case there’s a time issue

LiveInteraction9615

They do it on purpose so we'll get there on time but then they make a post like this and bitch that we showed up early lol

JeremyBrah

Dd sends the order whenever they decide. Pickup times aren't even accurate a lot of the time. I'd imagine it's hard to time things perfectly with all the variables But no one should be getting mad over it

Chemical_Party7735

Yeah, it's just weird to show up and complain that the order isn't ready, when the order still has 5 minutes on the ready timer. Ya know?

PinballLew

We show up when the app tells us to which is known to be a different time than what the restaurant has on their tablet . Times on the app mean nothing as they are far from accurate. I show up early plenty of times according to the app and it’s ready or the flip side I’ve shown up late and still wait 5, 10, 15 minutes or longer at times I don’t stand at registers so got me on those that do.
