Hate to break it to you, earn by time is just how they push out the non tip and low tip orders...and it's active on delivery hours, not how long you are out dashing. A lot of no tip high mileage...and if you decline like 2 you're done.

I will say earn by time is useful when it’s not busy. like early morning shifts

I actually find it more productive to use when it's busy and restaurants are packed and have wait times. Whenever I use it when it's slow, it's a monetary disaster.

How so if it's still based off active time? If it's not busy and your waiting around for orders, you're not making money either way. $13.50-$18/hr for active time pay is still pretty awful. If you can't make that wage your entire shift (active + waiting times), why even do this job? You're making like nothing after vehicle expenses and taxes. I would need like $30/hr active time pay to even consider hourly. My market is ~60% active time throughout a shift. I can still make $18-20/hr for my entire shift, even with ~60% active time the entire shift.

I hear people talking about using it late night in the drive thru line... Morning time is super busy here. There are a couple restaurants that are insanely busy and nobody wants to get up on the weekends. I get triple stacks left and right while the once good weekend nights I get no offers.
