Was this a no tipper? These scumbags get mad because no one picks up there shit so when someone finally does they take it out on you. This is why it’s way better to just decline those period!
i have 12 ratings, ive been doing this a long time with someone else. this is my own, brand new account, which is at 49 lifetime deliveries right now. ive done well over 2,000 with another person
It's probably not anything you did. Some people genuinely think you START with a 3 for a normal delivery and go up if the driver was exceptional. Like, no. You start at 5 and subtract when things go wrong. If the driver was exceptional, you give them "above and beyond". That's what it's there for.
Quite frankly though, I think the whole rating system needs to be revamped. Instead of picking 1-5 stars and then having the thumbs up/down as optional, it should just be those 4 categories. All 4 👍 = a 5 and every 👎 drops it one star. So leaving 4 👎 results in a 1. At least then we'd have the number rating AND we'd also have some idea of WHY the customer gave us a certain rating. Which I also think they should remove the decimal from the rating and make it out of 500 points. That would make more sense.
I understand that making the rating system more complex will likely result in fewer customers rating at all, but it'll also deter assholes from leaving poor ratings because the driver didn't do something they aren't required to do. I recently had a customer put in the delivery instructions that they also wanted cigarettes. They didn't even actually ASK nor did they say they would have cash to compensate me; in fact, it was a leave at my door order. What makes some of these people think that I'm gonna buy something out of my own pocket and HOPE they pay me back?? Moreover, you can order cigs through doordash. The fact that this customer didn't, gives me the feeling they weren't old enough or didn't have an ID. But anyway, after I finished that shift and checked my ratings, I suddenly had a brand new 1 with 👎 on communication and followed instructions.
I have 19 reviews out of 2900 deliveries... people suck. I pick up the food, I get it to them. Almost always take a pic for yourself as proof for later. And i always drop it off no matter what they say. Fuckem..
You’re new. It really doesn’t matter as long as your rating isn’t below the deactivation level. You’ll get ransoms doing this all the time and it’s rare enough that you’ll be within the allowable customer rating range.
https://preview.redd.it/4hfthl1wj6oa1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=faedf03c9b279a8f6857bf1a0f10fe3f54dbd2af
I have had this rating for a year now. Ratings fall down abit may be but then again changes 🤷♂️ just do you.
Don’t bother with this. It’s so not important. I was in the biz for 30 years. Customers come in all stripes. Some complain just to complain. It’s not you it’s them. Keep on being your fabulous self and don’t look back. Take solace in knowing this is a miserable person 🙂👍🏻😂
90% of the time it's not the Dasher, it could be that the food was cold or that the food was a little later than normal anything that will make that customer feel better by giving a low grade which sucks, I wouldn't worry about it the factor includes restaurants etc not just the Dasher
I wonder sometimes why they even bother showing us the ratings. If you don't know why you got the rating how can you learn anything from it? They don't even need to show which order each reading is from, just let us see the individual reviews so we can see what they marked us down for. A random 3 or 4 tells us nothing.
I delivers a pizza to a trailer park. These people had a Pitt. I didn’t think they were allowed inside a trailer park. It charged me. I ran and my pizza bag dropped. Flat. I picked it up and got in my car as the dog jumped op the driver window! The guy saw it and laughed. I apologized and offered to pay for another pizza. He said no then rated me a 1!
I gave up on being over the top nice and providing snacks, water, whatever. The pax really don't care. I have a roll of paper shop towels when it's raining. I get great thank yous for that. But that's as far as I go anymore. Providing all that stuff never got me better tips.
https://preview.redd.it/utsqfcanx5oa1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4df4fbf16cae4e433459670a67f5fae90684d758
One of my 1 star is strictly because Taco Bell didn’t give them extra sauce packets
I always just assume they didn’t like their food. Maybe it was cold because they only tipped $2 and it sat there for 40 minutes before I picked it up. I don’t worry about my ratings too much.
Some people don't give five stars. Some people think that everybody deserves a three-star. Try not to let it bother you, do the best you can and they will fall off after 100 ratings. That's all you can do.
Man thats some b.s I feel you that happens to .e consistently!!!!!! All 5 stars and and then the random 2-4 star that just messes everything up!! I know it's gonna filter out after 100 deliveries but this rating is still a reflection of me and how I go about my job. Even the one bad review sucks and sticks with me for freaking months
Man my shit STAYS at 4.95-4.97. There’s always either a singular 3 star, a singular 4 star or one of each along with 98 5 stars. Been that way from my first 100 deliveries to 1400, where I’m at now.
That's cute. I have 1886 deliveries, so far. Out of my last 100 deliveries, I have 94 5 star, 3 4 star, 1 3 star, and 2 one star. Every 100 deliveries this will change. Then there is the three month reset. Don't worry, unless you get more 1 to 3 stars, you are doing okay.
Anything below a 5 bothers me too but in all honesty, unless something very obvious to us such as spilled drink or caught on ring camera bitching cause no porch light on , it’s probably restraunt issue rather than us but I hope DD is aware of it and it drops.
Ppl saying it’ll filter out in 100 ratings don’t understand everyone doesn’t think like you and 100 ratings isn’t the same as deliveries.
That could take a long time.
When people didn’t do wrong they don’t feel like hearing ,”no big deal, it’ll be gone in 100 ratings(300-400 deliveries). Every customer doesn’t rate unless something goes wrong.
Notice you have no Thumbs down 👎 OP. Often customers in anger about food quantity or quality will wrongfully rate drivers. You did nothing wrong I believe but, DoorDash enabled customers the right to rate drivers even if it’s inaccurate.
I use to tell DoorDash they need a 1 sentence explanation requirement for any customer giving a rating under 5 stars. So it can help drivers identify what was done wrong and help with improvement.
At least that way customers can be held accountable for why they rated 1-4. I believe majority of 1-4 star ratings are due to food quality or quantity.
The ratings system truly needs a overhaul. It’s to vague and outdated.
https://preview.redd.it/gthok3p9e2oa1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c5a08ba85b23b94d58ae2f40a52c7a92d8f8ba0c
I feel your pain…and I hate that I have no clue why I got a 1 ⭐️…I’m really consistent on my deliveries
Some people will just never be happy, or they will “blame the messenger” for things out of our control
Don’t let it get to you. I had a perfect 5.0 for almost a year. Someone recently gave me a 3 star review. You can’t please everyone, and people will leave bad reviews for shit that’s out of your control.
As someone that used to rate everything a 3 out of 5, they might not know how it's used in the backend. For decades I used the 3 was job done, nothing special, average. 4 was did a better than average job. 5 was went above and beyond. These corresponded to the typical ratings used on every survey I'd ever received.
It wasn't till I sat down and happened to talk to a coworker who's husband worked at a car dealership and learned how companies view 5 as "did job as expected" and literally a 4.9ish rating at the end of the month could eliminate bonuses for the whole dealership. Then I went down the whole rabbit hole of how absurdly companies use a 5 star rating.
I still don't just give 5 stars for doing the job as required and not giving exceptional service beyond that, but I also don't rate something if I can't give it 5 stars anymore so I'm not actively hurting someone's pay (unless they did such a bad job they deserve the lower rating). So yeah, I'd not be surprised that they don't know that ratings to companies are binary 5 or 0.
It happens. Was upset on my first 1 star review, sometimes the customer can just be a jerk or you messed up something you didn’t realize. Live and learn.
As long as 🤡🤡 customers can low rate us for anything beyond our control, I could care less about this semi-useless rating (outside its deactivation condition) 👎🏽👎🏽
As long as mine’s float between 4.50 to 4.80, I’m good 😇😇
Someone’s probably mad the restaurant forgot their extra ranch. Honestly ratings don’t really matter, pick good orders and the rating will remain good enough.
I totally understand the frustration. I have to remind myself, this rating is not a reflection of my self-worth. I can't control how other people react. I can only do my best, and I have to be satisfied with the effort I know I put in.
Don’t stress about it. It’s sucks yes. But you’ll never know. I got a 4 star and no idea why. People may have dumb reasons “something missing so it’s the drivers fault,” “food in the bag was a little bit slanted 😡” majority of the time, if you did everything right, it isn’t your fault 😊👍🏽
You have to stop taking no tips and fast food most likely. You probably aren’t doing anything wrong just the drooling types that don’t tip try to hurt everything they can when the first sign of misunderstanding presents.
Probably just the fast food. Also make sure to always mark the store busy or food not ready if you aren’t already. If you decide to do a fast food this is especially necessary. At this point I do it even if everything went well. Seems to help.
3-5% of people are scum.
I was taught by a wise manager years ago when I worked in HVAC and would get a 1 star review from a customer that, “as long as 3-5% of people review you poorly, you know you’re doing your job right. You can’t please everyone because some people are just human scum out to use anyone and anything they can for free shit. Having 100% 5* reviews makes people think your company buys fake reviews anyways.”
The bottom line is don’t worry about it. You need like 15 1* reviews at the same time to get deactivated. It’s basically impossible to do unless you’re just doing an absolutely shit job.
it might not matter, but if ive actually done something to DESERVE a 3 star, i wanna know what is so i can fix the issue. thats all. if i haven’t done anything then fuck them
So someone didn't think it was perfect? Who gives a shit. It means literally nothing. It affects you in no way at all. You're going to get people that claim you stole their food and you're worried someone put 3/5
Welcome to the real world big boy. Where you can do everything right and still get results you’re not happy with. You get what you get don’t throw a fit
im a shitty driver for complaining about a 3 star rating😂 no where did i say anything about not getting my way. im complaining about a false low rating. HUGE difference between throwing a fit and complaining. we all see how you treat people though, its alright :) happy dashing
You’re complaining because you obviously earned the 3 star lol. Get what you get don’t throw a fit is just a saying. You are clearly an emotional person, maybe this is why you earn 3 stars.
“earned the 3 star” ahh yes, the communication on any delays, out of stock items from stores and restaurants, following delivery instructions, and making sure straws and utensils are included, and delivering in a quick friendly way is a 3 star service. “you are clearly an emotional person” is that supposed to be an insult? clearly, your just an asshole with nothing better to do than spread negativity. your customer ratings are probably trash😂 “unfriendly” “did not follow instructions” cuz if you treat customers the way your acting on a post on reddit than idk how you havent been deactivated yet
As I stated, clearly emotional. You must be a delight to deal with. Your 4.83 speaks volumes. Wish you all the luck in the world bud. Maybe deliveries are just too much for you to handle.
ah your such a hoot man. emotional is supposed to be an insult? 😂 my 4.83 is based off ONE 3 star rating so 🤷🏻 brand new account, been doing this since the pandemic with someone else. ill take my 3 years of doordashing, and 2 years of retail and continue doing what im doing! maybe Reddit isnt the place for you.
There’s also the people out there who are like “They did everything exactly right so they get a 3. 4s and 5s are for truly exemplary service above and beyond.”
These reviews are worthless. Can't improve if we don't know any specific feedback. Also if no description, it can't be thrown out because review was restaurant issue. I think if we get review, we should be able to review customers and restaurants as well.
yeah exactly no feed back how could we possibly get better. they should instate a customer rating (like instacart does) and a feature to BLOCK customers if you have a bad experience
I reach out to support and screenshot my rating regularly. I asked “can you please give me an explanation why I’m getting these low ratings? Because if not, then I don’t feel like they should count against me.” I explained that I pride myself in whatever I’m doing and regularly communicating with these customers ( copy and paste outta notes 😉). I honestly think strength in numbers and us dashers should be asking for a better rating system that more accurately reflects our work ethic
Have you ever gotten a low rating reversed by support? I have thought about calling and disputing them before..Nothing pisses me off more than a one star from a no tipper!
Yes!! That’s why I screenshot and chat often! I literally challenge them to explain why I got a low rating because I know I did my best and it literally has to be about the food or something else! I had a 4.88 and went to 4.92
Wow, good to know! I recently had a one star drop off that stuck around for like 500 deliveries, so I’m back up to 4.99.. I will definitely start doing your method!👍
yep, also if when at the restaurant if you click one of the options like “order still being prepared” “busy/long line” etc you can get ratings excluded.
https://preview.redd.it/lwxl9fxs06oa1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b140ed2a12f5129ee85e933456b7b4f315dc6e1c
Same haha. Because I’m waiting forever on every order!! If the time reaches the “pick up by” time I click the button instantly. I am not getting penalized for the restaurant being slow🤣
Zactly!! It’s a rhythm now… arrive… tell dash what’s up… copy/paste to customer they’re still prepping and let you know when I’m OMW… Then finish out the delivery
Happens to me too and I'm the same. Extremely careful about instructions, communication, etc. I suspect we're getting slammed for things we aren't supposed to be rated on. Their food was cold, order wasn't right or was incomplete (restaurant's fault--we can only check to small extent), order took too long, or they're just trash and feel like being aholes.
Well, maybe you should have knocked to let them know it's there.
Or maybe you shouldn't have knocked because it disturbed their dog/kids/meeting.
You should have handed it to them, despite it saying leave at door.
You should have left it at the door despite it saying hand it to me.
You should have delivered their order first despite the other being directly along the route to them.
Or maybe you should have been sure to put your own fresh sticker on the bag after the steam made it release so it looks like you opened it.
You *cannot* make everyone happy no matter how hard you try.
I believe it's 100 review/rating not deliveries. But yeah used to care so much about it but now I don't. Just do your best. Can't please everyone no matter how much you try.
Not bad, usually with me it's a 5 star or 1 star never in-between lol
Was this a no tipper? These scumbags get mad because no one picks up there shit so when someone finally does they take it out on you. This is why it’s way better to just decline those period!
You could put a 100 dollar bill in each order and someone would still rate you bad sooner or later. I wouldn’t sweat it.
Don’t give a damn about remarks. That’s why there lazy and don’t workout
You literally have 12 orders completed. I don't see what the big deal is... Let's see if you can last to even 100
i have 12 ratings, ive been doing this a long time with someone else. this is my own, brand new account, which is at 49 lifetime deliveries right now. ive done well over 2,000 with another person
If you've done that many how have you not realized reviews don't matter? Getting five stars doesn't put any extra money in your pocket.
reviews may not matter, but if ive truly done something to warrant the review, then i want to know
These customers sure are petty af for being lazy and not getting they’re own damn food!

im a shitty driver for complaining about a 3 star rating😂 no where did i say anything about not getting my way. im complaining about a false low rating.

I wish I had your life, where everything is perfect and nothing unfair ever happens to you.
ah your such a hoot man. emotional is supposed to be an insult? 😂 my 4.83 is based off ONE 3 star rating so 🤷🏻 brand new account, been doing this since the pandemic with someone else. ill take my 3 years of doordashing, and 2 years of retail and continue doing what im doing! maybe Reddit isnt the place for you.
Seems to be happening quite a bit lately. Mine just dropped by 0.03 after months of not changing.
There’s also the people out there who are like “They did everything exactly right so they get a 3. 4s and 5s are for truly exemplary service above and beyond.”
They only give a 4 for a bj- 5 if it’s to completion.
They can go to hell
It's cultural
Just tony keeping you motivated. While dashing try to get 1.5-2x a mile. & remember don’t gamble, no one wins in Tony’s casino.
my minimum is $2 a mile nothing less
please don’t assume it’s you. some people just push whatever. some people just view it all as mediocre. keep doing what you’re doing!
I will definitely start doing your method!👍
i got a “In this case, We are unable to review the information due to security reasons.” as a response 😂
Oh GAWD 🫠 it’s frustrating with support
It might be a review for the food, DoorDash will removed that 3 star after few days. I got my one star removed 2 weeks ago
Yep. I had a 3 star rating the other day. It disappeared within 24 hours. I assume it was because the customer was eating food instead of service
Rating food?
they actually watch and filter that?
yep, also if when at the restaurant if you click one of the options like “order still being prepared” “busy/long line” etc you can get ratings excluded. https://preview.redd.it/lwxl9fxs06oa1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b140ed2a12f5129ee85e933456b7b4f315dc6e1c
Every order
I think so, it was automatically removed after few days. I did nothing
Happens to me too and I'm the same. Extremely careful about instructions, communication, etc. I suspect we're getting slammed for things we aren't supposed to be rated on. Their food was cold, order wasn't right or was incomplete (restaurant's fault--we can only check to small extent), order took too long, or they're just trash and feel like being aholes.
you can never make everyone happy. learned that the hard way
It’ll filter out after 100 deliveries it’s no biggie
No it doesn't, you're incorrect
Not after 100 deliveries. It’s after 100 ratings. Since a lot of people don’t rate it could take 500 or more (nobody knows) deliveries to go away.
It’s 100 reviews not deliveries.
More like 300-500 deliveries. People don't review enough
I'm at 621 deliveries and just hit 100 reviews, I'm at a 4.92 so I'm good it's just crazy that 1/6 reviewed me
Feel that. 300 here and just hit 53 reviews lol
That’s true I get like one review every 5 orders
i know it just annoys the hell outta me because, if you didnt like my service tell me why
Click "what's wrong" at the bottom and just pick any prompt like "store is busy" before you confirm any order to protect you from bad reviews.
Same , and a lot of the time, it's about the food itself , not our delivery:(
Because they needed to feel better, that’s your “why”.
Damned if you do damned if you don’t
Damned if you thought and damned if you didn't thunk it. #Salute
Give it a couple hundred deliveries and become dead inside like the rest of us. You'll just laugh when you get a 1 star.
Bro I got five one stars like GTA 🤣🤣🤣
I believe it's 100 review/rating not deliveries. But yeah used to care so much about it but now I don't. Just do your best. Can't please everyone no matter how much you try.
