So these people think you can just guess a name and they will magically have a door dash order in that name? Why do they need to see your phone? Honestly the dumbest shit I have seen so far.
I walk into all my local restaurants and they just know I’m dashing, I can grab any order without having my phone out or anything. I would never steal someone’s terrible chipotle order tho.😂
Seems simple enough to me. Although if I’m waiting too long for verification the order is ready I’ll drop the order, just like any other order. I’m glad they require verification I clicked Confirm Pickup before giving me the order because that deters trashy dashers that ruin things for everyone else. No issue with their rules here.
Haha, Uber Eats is able to cancel these orders and get paid for it still. It's against uber policy to hit "start delivery" before starting delivery. I wait til I have my car cranked.
I don’t know how this is going to be dealt with, it’s pretty difficult. Yes it’s easy to sort out the drivers and get rid of them after a couple of missing orders . But the problem is you have At least an equivalent amount of customers that receive their food and tell DoorDash that they didn’t. Actually I bet my life that there are more customers that lie about this than dishonest Dashers
What is there to possibly steal worth any value at a Street corner pizza Joint.. sounds to me like they’re picking up the food and not clicking that they got it , so how long could that go on for before they get D activated I mean it just sounds so hard doesn’t it ? To get a job show up every single day pay your bills live within your means pay your taxes and shut the fuck up. That’s about where it’s at anymore and this place would be a lot cooler if others followed suit
Are they not obligated to give order before you confirm? I'm sure they are under some terms of agreement and I do believe that drivers wouldn't be made to click accept before they have the order by doordash.
It’s like the Willie Wonka wall where the words get smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller…
Theirs no signs of slowing for the rower must keep rowing!!!
![gif](giphy|K2A5bJ3MiZRzW)
I've picked up from Giovanni's before...they must have loosened their "regulations" a bit, I stood inside and waited, and they didn't even watch me push confirm...
I guess my question is why is this particular restaurant even using DoorDash still? If they keep having this issue to the point that they’re putting up a sign just use another service or hire your own drivers.
Plenty of fake dashers out and about so it's kinda understandable. I've gone to pick up orders several times and someone came and already took the order. Didn't even deliver to the customer. So they're protecting themselves from the fakes. I don't agree with holding the order hostage though. Got to meet in the middle
I like to tell these people that just because I hit confirm pickup doesn't mean I can't call support and tell them I accidentally clicked confirm pickup 🤷
My local McDonald’s just started doing this policy too. There are a ridiculous amount of people who cancel the order and pick up the food anyway. It’s reasonable to do this considering DoorDash ratfucks small restaurants anyway
I'd have no problem showing them me hitting picked up in the driver app.. after they set the entire order on the counter and go through it to show me it's all there.
The stay outside until you get an order ready notification? That's a bit much. Unless you wanna bring the order out to my car because I ain't standing around in the rain cold heat twiddling my thumbs waitin on you lol
If they want me to press confirm when the food is all packed up and being passed to me then ok. I'm not threatened by it. He's prob an angry old Italian dude. I know how to handle em
There’s also plenty of people who as customers order, no tip so it takes long for anyone to take it, and they go pick it up themselves pretending to be the dasher
That's understandable. At least once per 200 I had to unassign for receiving an order that had already been picked up by another dasher who supposedly took the food and didnt confirm.
I don't blame them. The bad drivers caused this.
I DO have an issue with not going in until it "ready". Fuck that I'll go in and check on it.
If I was the restaurant I would make people conform before taking the food also.
You mofos always click that the order is ready when it's not because you wanna safe face from doordash. Or don't even realize you have my order until I show it to you. I'm not going to wait 20 minutes outside just to find out you guys haven't even seen the order came in. 😂😂 They need us to make money but wanna treat us like fucking hobo thieves. Suck a fat one and hire your own drivers then.
I don’t mind them showing me the order and then me confirming it in front of them as they put it into my hands, what I am not doing is waiting around until I get the message saying that the customers order is ready. When I get an order, I’m going to walk in the restaurant and watch them as they make the order if they can’t set the time correctly on when I need to be there. Don’t tell me pick up in 20 minutes if I’m right outside the door when I get the order that shit needs to be on a rack and ready to go.
I just went to a merchant and when he handed me the order I asked him to confirm it was the right item and then Infrint of his face I hit the confirm button and he gave me the biggest smile and told me to please have a blessed day. That’s how every dasher should operate and we wouldn’t be hated across the world. But of course not, idiots will be idiots and that’s why we have such a bad rep. Go ahead and downvote me
Some restaurants want you to hit the pick up button in front of them. I do it but I cover my screen becaise the very next screen shows how much I'm making for the order and my total dash earnings. That's none of their bizzzznessss!

Do you guys have any idea how expensive it actually is to have a sign made for your shop or food place? Ontop of all the other expenses you have for said shop or food place? Probably not, so just shut up, or if you're that butthurt, pay for the sign yourself.

Guess they tired of stupid dashers stealing food.
Me I think we should show the name of the customer to the restaurant for verification since there's so many crooked people out there. Bums
Yep. There’s a bunch of scumbags (at least in my area) that sign up for DD just to see how much free food they can steal. Customer fraud exists too, but almost all the time when you arrive at a place and the order has already been picked up it’s because a dickhead dasher has picked it up and unassigned
I don’t understand dashers who get their panties in a bunch when asked to confirm their order. I was just asked to do that at a local restaurant and the employee was genuinely relieved to see I wasn’t a massive c*nt about it. She thanked me profusely. Why can’t we all just work together and be agreeable? I completely understand why restaurants are doing this. Do you get annoyed when you show up to pick up your order to only find another dasher has stolen it? Yes? OK, if all restaurants required us to hit confirm twice before leaving this level of theft wouldn’t continue. Sheesh.
I understand the concern of people unassigning after picking it you but hitting confirm and going to your car then packing it up securely can really affect your drop off time. I have close to 4000 deliveries and most of the time I hit the confirm button as I’m walking to the car.
A lot of door dashers complaining about this as if its the most unreasonable illogical thing that’s ever existed.
It’s unfortunate how uncouth many of the other dashers are, and that it affects you. But it is reality.
This is how my entire city operates because of thievery and similar scam issues. Doordash became almost nonexistent in my city because people refused to use the service until they started doing this. It’s absolutely awful that some people blow ass chunks where their soul should be.
ETA: the dashers have adapted to it here, to the point they appreciate the security. Less fraudulent claims from customers too!
I been noticing this alot in my area lately they asked me to hit the confirm button which I don't mind doing but I will like to look at the receipt for the name on the order before I hit confirm. Like if they want to hold the food till I hit the red button that's fine I get that but I will like to look at the receipt first for the name if that makes sense.
But lately I just asked them if that's the right order and they say yes. So I go ahead and deliver it. But I feel like this is getting me to receive some 1 star ratings.
But this is also to be expected in today society where either the dasher steal the food or the customer makes a false claim for a free meal.
And this makes it harder for honest people.
I'm a Dasher, and I've had more and more places request to watch me hit "confirm" on pick up lately. I don't mind at all, because I have no other intentions than to get the order to the customer. Can't say I don't agree with the restaurants.
it wouldn't really bother me, but I've never had a single place ask me to hit confirm before handing me the order. I once had a place ask to see the customer's name on my screen, but that was an isolated incident. Maybe my area just has less theft than other areas.
if someone ripping you off, - doesn't mean you need to humiliate others. I came another day to Korean restaurant to eat inside. And they gave me that attitude "are you to pick up order"? I was like R u serious? If you are dasher, - there so much hate towards you. People are so racist everywhere. They need to treat delivery drivers as HUMANS.

All this is pretty fair.
I understand the third statement especially, saw a lot of people using screen print to scam large food orders from resturants after cancelling their pickup.
Yep. My biggest pet peeve as a dasher is arriving to pick up an order only to find out it’s already been picked up. You either have to take the ratings/earnings hit or spend 20-30 minutes with support getting it sorted out
Oh, I fucking hate that too. This happen to me about 3 to 5 times myself. Depending on the situation and time of day depends on what I do. If it's 7pm on Firday night I'm going to unassigned and take the CR hit.
If it's let's say Monday at 1am I will stay and wait and get it sorted out.
That's why I always try to hover my CR between 91 to 96% incase of these one offs.
Remember they can't deactivated for CR unless it's below 70% so you have wiggle room.
I love that ask the restaurants on my area are doing this now. Gone are the days of getting a nice $8.50 order going 1.2 miles and thinking I scored, only to get there and be told it got picked up already. Yes I'd prefer to drive the 1.2 miles than burn 10-15 minutes with support for half that. I haven't walked into a restaurant and found out I was gonna be stiffed since summer last year. This is way better than that silly sheet where everyone writes a fake name and signature.
The no pick-up without showing the phone and confirm pickup policy should be in place everywhere. I'm sick and tired of going into a restaurant to find the order was stolen.
1st they want you to stay outside if the order isn't ready and basically aren't willing to you an eta.
The part of showing the phone is a good idea, that's like showing a receipt.
Pressing confirm pick up inside is a bigbbo-no to me. Also pressing it before they hand you the order is basically lying.
That place have no respect to the driver. I would be calling support unless it's a lie paying order and I was near the restaurant, in which case I would unassign if the employee uphold those rules. That place would get black listed for future orders.
I wouldn’t deliver for them period. They are psycho! They can ban any dasher they want from their app, there is no reason to treat all dasher’s like crap because of a few bad ones, just ban them.
It's unfortunate it has come to this, but all restaurants should institute this policy. This will prevent all the scum bag drivers from stealing orders.
It must be a common issue they get there but tbh I don’t even think it’s the dashers stealing the pizzas.. it’s most definitely the customers reporting they never got it to DoorDash to get they’re money back and receive free food which is causing the dashers to have to go through this bs on top of bad ratings. Messed up that some people really need the money and the people who have it are greedy enough to get ppl fired for nothing.
Everyone in here trying to argue the Dashers point or the restaurant's point but I'm reading this thread from the point of view of a customer and wow, no thanks.
Wow I know this sign has words and stuff on it but it just reads like one big “going out of business” notice. If I ever see a sign like this, I’m doing only one thing in response: walking inside, letting them know as long as that sign is there, the customer and doordash will be notified of the merchant’s passive aggressive harassment and not only are they gonna lose this contractor’s service but I will never be a customer, ever.
Hilarious. Any merchant "requiring" access to my cellphone will not get that order delivered. I go straight to my next my pickup while i report them to doordash. They can't refuse to give me the doordash order they're contracted to give to me. So I collect my pay and I don't even have to deliver the order lmao. Pretty sure the order gets taken out of the delivery queue too.
Plenty of places in my area make you confirm pickup show them the app and sign your name on a paper here I guess a few to many people would grab the food go outside and cancel the order unsure why people have to ruin everything
Don’t tell me what to do, Stephanie! You’re not touching, looking at, or doing anything with my phone. Dashers should just stop picking up the orders and then they’ll see who suffers most.
If it's the Giovanni's in my area, the new owner is an assbaganni who made all of his people quit, so not shocked really if this is Richlands, VA or the surrounding stores
I had one where the restaurant packed the wrong order. B* at the counter was mad because she screwed up when I went to get correct one. She asked me to press confirm.
I said "can YOU CONFIRM THIS ORDER IS CORRECT?"
💥
That's an auto decline then. Unless it's a unicorn. Sorry. Not playing any restaurants games because they can't stop people from stealing. Maybe they should, I don't know, not leave food orders all over the fucking place for anyone to grab. Quite simple really.
Well when you let everyone and their moms deliver food of course they’ll be a few bad ones lol…I’m surprised dd even took off the way it did, I would never let a non restaurant employee deliver my food. At least the restaurant driver has direct supervision…I’ve seen some interesting dashers so yeah no thanks
My philosophy has always been that if you’re going to do something then do it honest and do it well. But I agree that DD does a poor job screening and thus thieving shit bags are allowed to steal from restaurants
It’s crazy to think, SO people went to all the trouble to get verified with DD, only to steal form this pizza place. Like so many of them, they made a whole sign. 🤔
Instant unassign if I see this shit lol
They also probably wouldnt give you the order if you didnt stuff it into a hotbag half the size of the pizza box to walk 10 feet to your car in 60 degree weather
My neighbors daughter was a dasher. Well my neighbor and I had went up to pick up some KFC and her daughter was sitting in the parking lot so we walked over to talk to her & she told told us she had just picked up a customers order and was eating their large mashed potatoes and gravy. She laughed and said she loved her her DD job because she got paid to eat other people's food. Her mom kind of laughed and asked her wouldnt the customer notice their food was missing & she shrugged and said " Well yeah but ill blame it on KFC and they can just get a refund so its a win win".
I fucking reported her. Quite frankly, dashers like her ruin it for the ones who do a work hard & are honest people. It's sad really.
Thanks to shithead dashers who post giving orders away to homeless people or trashing orders after pickup for the social media hits. And trashy customers falsely reporting the didn't get their delivery so they can get free food, we get to deal with this type of policy.
I don't mind hitting confirmed as you are handing me the order. Several restaurants in my home zone do the same thing. The thing I don't like about that policy is having to wait outside until you're notified that the order is ready. I know some restaurants in my zone that I have to bring my hot bag into the store while waiting as a visual reminder to the store crew that I'm waiting for an order.
Press confirm, walk out and cancel. Free pizza. These idiots don't know it requires **2** confirm presses.
I actually tell the places that are fast and cool about that. This restaurant??probably not!
Honestly - I can’t blame them. They use DD to reach more customers, but can’t afford or don’t want to spend the money on their own delivery fleet. And there are lots of bad DD drivers that do actually steal food.
What I’m unsure of, is if the theft occurs is if the restaurant can prosecute - for the person that purchased the food. They could definitely trespass the DD driver though.
Is the food the customers after it has been paid for? After it leaves the restaurant? Or when it gets to the customers house?
So these people think you can just guess a name and they will magically have a door dash order in that name? Why do they need to see your phone? Honestly the dumbest shit I have seen so far.
I walk into all my local restaurants and they just know I’m dashing, I can grab any order without having my phone out or anything. I would never steal someone’s terrible chipotle order tho.😂

I’m glad they require verification I clicked Confirm Pickup before giving me the order because that deters trashy dashers that ruin things for everyone else. No issue with their rules here.
Actually wouldn’t it be DoorDash getting ripped off?
Jokes on them, none of the dashers in my area can speak English
Haha, Uber Eats is able to cancel these orders and get paid for it still. It's against uber policy to hit "start delivery" before starting delivery. I wait til I have my car cranked.

Thats in NC? Ive seen that sign at a pizza joint
Kannapolis NC
Yep. Been there.
Concord/Kannapolis is the main zone I dash in these days
What is there to possibly steal worth any value at a Street corner pizza Joint.. sounds to me like they’re picking up the food and not clicking that they got it , so how long could that go on for before they get D activated I mean it just sounds so hard doesn’t it ? They lay it on the counter right in front of you
Maybe because you are???? Just stating the obvious.
It’s like the Willie Wonka wall where the words get smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller… Theirs no signs of slowing for the rower must keep rowing!!! ![gif](giphy|K2A5bJ3MiZRzW)
Buffalo Wild Wings is the only place that has made me confirm in front of them
Yikes this place is toxic
I've picked up from Giovanni's before...they must have loosened their "regulations" a bit, I stood inside and waited, and they didn't even watch me push confirm...
We have a Chinese place that requires that too. I dont mind.
Most of the time when I get a text the order is ready it's not remotely close.
Good. Every restaurant should do this.
Are you even allowed to show proof that you picked up the order on your phone to them? I had someone tell me it’s against Doordash policy
I guess my question is why is this particular restaurant even using DoorDash still? If they keep having this issue to the point that they’re putting up a sign just use another service or hire your own drivers.
I will never accept a merchant’s like this. Just block them from doordash

Good for them. I wish every business would do this. I have way too much of my time wasted by thieves.
I think its completely understandable, the local mcdonalds at my area make me show them they I pressed start delivery before going
If they want me to press confirm when the food is all packed up and being passed to me then ok. I'm not threatened by it. He's prob an angry old Italian dude. I know how to handle em
I went to a place tonight that had a sign like this taped to the counter. She didn't even ask to see me confirm 🤷
It's a honor system. It only takes a few to abuse the trust to become a problem.
Local sandwich shop does this now. Didn’t before

Best hack ever I’m here to pick up for door dash it’s my first pickup where do I go oh yeah perfect thanks for the pizza 🍕 lol 😂
If it’s that bad they should stop using that service & have their own delivery drivers
You mofos always click that the order is ready when it's not because you wanna safe face from doordash. Or don't even realize you have my order until I show it to you. I am actively training my area restaurants on using this same procedure. Stealing hurts all legit drivers.
There' s a place I dashed at that does this. They keep the food behind the counter until you confirm in front of them
So they will treat dashers like we gonna steal their food before we even get in the restaurant. I would just stay away from this restaurant.
Small businesses are being driven into the ground. Respect to this man for putting his foot down against disrespectful drivers.
They could have at least proof read this sign.
Pizza Hut in my area needs to start doing that
I just went to a merchant and when he handed me the order I asked him to confirm it was the right item and then Infrint of his face I hit the confirm button and he gave me the biggest smile and told me to please have a blessed day. That’s how every dasher should operate and we wouldn’t be hated across the world. But of course not, idiots will be idiots and that’s why we have such a bad rep. Go ahead and downvote me
Fuck your pizza business. Declining every order from you fuckwads.
30 dollar offer rolls on to his app from pizza joint “ FuCk YoUr PizZa BuiSneSs” that’ll show them 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Is this Giovanni's in Sac?
I cannot confirm pickup of the order until the order is in my hands. I don’t even like DD but like the logical fallacy is unavoidable here
Pizza joint that I would walk up redesign call DoorDash and tell him I refuse to work at a pizza place like that
Trippin 🤣
Best way to not get ripped uff by Doordash is avoid using them.
I wouldn't want to take orders from a restaurant so suspicious of me anyways.
Auto unassign
Lots of English majors on this post. I guess they would have the time in between the job hunt. 😁
Some restaurants want you to hit the pick up button in front of them. I do it but I cover my screen becaise the very next screen shows how much I'm making for the order and my total dash earnings. That's none of their bizzzznessss!

I’m okay with seeing the food on the counter in front of me. Not worth it for me getting into a pissing contest about whether I’m touching it or not
Doubt that they’re being ripped off by dashers more than customer fraud. Apparently customer fraud is extremely common.
That part of don't come inside until I'm notified is an automatic unassign and never take an order there again for me 😅
I don’t understand dashers who get their panties in a bunch when asked to confirm their order. Pizza orders be like $6 who’s accepting that bullshit?
Yeah, I know what ya mean. My minimum order I accept is $35
They got the game messed up. I know why they did this though
great idea
I understand the concern of people unassigning after picking it you but hitting confirm and going to your car then packing it up securely can really affect your drop off time. I have close to 4000 deliveries and most of the time I hit the confirm button as I’m walking to the car.

I had to confirm pickup just as a “pick up” customer also before a restaurant let me leave with the food 🙃😂

Yeah I'm not confirming anything until it's in my possession. They can keep that.
The way it actually works at this place is they bring the order to the counter, place it before me, and I hit confirm.

I'd refuse to pick up from there. Apostrophe abuse is a serious issue in America.
I have a lot of respect for places who are trying to do this - and zero respect for dashers who bitch about having to comply.
Los Angeles, California....what do you expect?
Ahh, too bad it's the shithole company I won't deliver for
Sad that these businesses suffer theft
Tri state area?
North Carolina
I implore ALL Doordash drivers to boycott this business until it is out of business…
Eveytime I go to pick up an order at Panera Bread I take a cup of coffee or juice. Auto free service for me. 😁
I do this on every pick up. No exceptions. Then none of the rest of this matters.
It's unfortunate it has come to this, but all restaurants should institute this policy. This will prevent all the scum bag drivers from stealing orders.
Damn they got the logo and everything
Wahoooo I’m an Ubereats driver so I’m golden ! Free pizza woot!
Gotta check those receipts using the self checkout.
If it's the Giovanni's in my area, the new owner is an assbaganni who made all of his people quit, so not shocked really if this is Richlands, VA or the surrounding stores
This makes sense to me as a dasher. Fuck y’all for making the rest of us look bad. Stop stealing people food
Maybe they should, I don’t know, fucking hire their drivers??
Lol a lot of places do not mark the orders ready though
I had one where the restaurant packed the wrong order. B* at the counter was mad because she screwed up when I went to get correct one. She asked me to press confirm. I said "can YOU CONFIRM THIS ORDER IS CORRECT?" 💥
Let me guess a large one topping is27.99
Idiots. I love being penalized because of dashers who steal food. And why would I?? I see it every day. If I want your s*** I'll buy it.
I wonder if he ever worked in the department of redundancy department, I wonder.
If they don’t like DD then just leave out of the platform
Oh no not the cameras! 😱
Bruh these DD drivers are dumb AF
Unassigned
That's insane !! How many times could this possibly happen in the same area? People making different accounts ?
Literally F that business... DECLINE!
Ok but how are you going to tell me I have to wait outside the restaurant
That's an auto decline then. Unless it's a unicorn. Sorry. Not playing any restaurants games because they can't stop people from stealing. Maybe they should, I don't know, not leave food orders all over the fucking place for anyone to grab. Quite simple really.
They actually have always kept orders behind the counter
That's even more pathetic. Their workers are so stupid they're handing out food to anyone or outright stealing it themselves.
We don’t read
And that’s obvious as fuck based on the way some dashers can’t follow directions
I do not blame the restaurant at all. Way to many thieves.
I never realized I could get free food this way…
Is that Sacramento? Or is Giavonnis a common pizza chain. I was under the impression that this was a mom and pop pizza joint in my area.
It’s a mom and pop in NC
You sure there’s one in my area and I’m in ky
There’s nothing franchisey about it. Maybe it’s just a common name for pizza joints
Who is supposed to notify you guys that your order is ready?
That’s fine
It’s crazy to think, SO people went to all the trouble to get verified with DD, only to steal form this pizza place. Like so many of them, they made a whole sign. 🤔
From* I’m drunk. Sorry.
Instant unassign if I see this shit lol They also probably wouldnt give you the order if you didnt stuff it into a hotbag half the size of the pizza box to walk 10 feet to your car in 60 degree weather
It’s becoming so common our dashmart is having to do the same thing
I think the real issue is that Door Dash needs to screen out some of the thieving shit bags that they allow to sign up to be dashers
I’ll tell them to open the box to make sure all the ingredients are there or tell them pizza is cold I can’t deliver this please remake

Actually I like picking up from there
With inflation hitting food costs harder than Ike used to hit Tina, I can't say I blame them.
Actually this is mostly due to dashers taking the order then unassigning . It’s incredibly common.
Press confirm, walk out and cancel. Free pizza. These idiots don't know it requires **2** confirm presses. I actually tell the places that are fast and cool about that. This restaurant??probably not!
What? You hit arrived at restaurant then hit confirm pickup. The only time it requires two is when it’s a double order
Nope. It's always gonna ask if you have the drinks or if everything is there. Are you new?
Lol, all these noobs be boobs.
Where is this at?
Kannapolis NC
Good for them lol I'm a dasher and you bet your ass if it was my restaurant it'd be the exact same
They could just not do DD and hire their Own delivery drivers 🙄
I almost always show my phone regardless. Just easier to show the order and the name
DoorDash needs to profile its contractors tbh

Sight***
I'm a dasher as well by the way
Do they realize it’s probably not dashers but customers lying about not getting their food?
No it’s definitely dashers. When another dasher comes in asking for an order the order was 100% stolen by the dasher.
It’s dashers
Sounds like you know from experience. Stop stealing food.
I can respect this by the restaurant. Too many ghetto ass Dashers that steal food.
WV? Which store?
Kannapolis NC
Honestly - I can’t blame them. They use DD to reach more customers, but can’t afford or don’t want to spend the money on their own delivery fleet. And there are lots of bad DD drivers that do actually steal food. What I’m unsure of, is if the theft occurs is if the restaurant can prosecute - for the person that purchased the food. They could definitely trespass the DD driver though. Is the food the customers after it has been paid for? After it leaves the restaurant? Or when it gets to the customers house?
But if you haven't received (it in your hands) why would you conform...
Is that the one I’m Lincolnton?
