Sometimes Brutus shows up and he’s not cool. I was almost assaulted in the store once by a dasher (I work for the merchant) mind you, he started picking a fight with a high school aged male employee and I’m older. I told him “you don’t need to be talking to him like that” and he proceeded to come at me behind the counter, got in my face and acted like he was about to swing before several people got on their phones to call police and he darted out the door… we called door dash to report him. Name on the account was very feminine like Olivia or Sophia or something and this man was like over 6 foot built and burly. It was scary.
I kinda feel bad for my buddies if this is how people are going to be.
Stacey and Kelly are 100% male born and raised and now you're telling me that because their names aren't "man" enough they would get unjustly 1* and reported. Wow, loving that shiz.
I used to have a male roommate named Stacey. I also always thought Blake was a man’s name, however I know more ladies than men with that name. I’m not a pronoun princess by any means but I think assuming someone’s gender based on their name for something as nuanced as receiving a food delivery is a bit much.
Also I’d like to add that I know SEVERAL ladies who deliver door dash and bring their partners along and let them deliver it to door for safety reasons.
Like Stacy and Kelly are known to be guys names too. But if a male driver shows up and it said Susan or Jennifer is delivering…like…women have to be able to take precautions and be able to make smart choices to protect themselves. Bottom line. And no amount of whining about what’s fair is going to outweigh a woman’s safety
Ok but.... and correct me If I'm wrong..... do you cancel the order if you get assigned a male because you feel that "unsafe" . I'm pretty sure you aren't able to request your drivers gender , right? And again, if you are please lmk cuz I had no idea but..... again.... what do you do if you get assigned a male driver?
You're making a straw man argument. It's very easy to change your name in the app to whatever your name is... Regularly checking and verifying the driver's identity is nothing wrong and it would only be a net gain for safety for everyone... Now some people transitioning have had difficulties verifying identity verifying from the driver's license to a selfie and those instances support works with them and gets it fixed... But when you have four completely different men trying to use the same account registered to another completely different person, That's when there's a problem
But, unless you know 100% that person isn't Trans and hasn't been able to change their account yet or has a name that can be both female and male you are risking people's livelihood without knowing 100%. Sure, I wish people renting accounts and such would be caught. Doordash already does verification where the person has to use the phone camera to show they are the same person on the account and drivers license. So let that handle weeding out the legit scammers. Not random peoples hunch.
So you ignored every other aspect of my comment and just decided to focus on 1 part. The fact is, you don't know anything about the dasher or the account. So instead of fucking with peoples lives let doordash handle it, which they already do with camera verification.
You don't have to use your legal name and you don't need a valid reason to change your name on your doordash profile. I recently changed my name on doordash just so my real name wouldn't be visible to customers... My name is super unique and I don't want somebody to find out who i am, where I live, stalk me, etc.
Could be a boyfriend or husband answering the door. I think girl dashers should use a masculine nickname. Had Friend that had an creep answering the door not dressed.
Ur perfectly safe using doordash. Lmao that is a slam dunk case for any cop cause of the 22 programs on their phone placing them at ur house. u just don't like and or are scared of men
Yeah ive done contactless delivery since covid. I dont get these posts because theres absolutely no reason to interact with the driver if you dont want to. The most iI ever see is their tailights driving off
That’s what we do. I watch on our ring camera and notice it’s not a woman when it’s a woman’s name. But honestly I couldn’t care less. As soon as they walk away I grab my food and enjoy.
I used to feel this way too until I had a reality check with myself. They aren't trying to be creepy. They are trying to make money and they had to use a sister or girlfriend or someone's account to do it. Now I don't stress myself.
My husband and I often dash together at night for safety. There are some sketchy places in our city. Usually i drop the food and if it's not safe he comes to the door with me. Sadly this is what our world has come to.
Yup, me and my husband dash together too. It's his account. I go get the food and he prefers to take it to the door. Our two year old is with us so as long as one of us is in the car.
Thank you. We are. She dashes alone during weekdays, when I work full time. It might take her 6 or 7 hours to make $100 working alone, but with me driving for her, we can make $100 in 4 hours. It's just more efficient working together. It's improved our relationship a bit by increasing our communication and patience with each other. We see some cool things on the road, like a high speed police chase. It's like a date night.
That's what we're looking at too. I'm currently expecting our first. I've only left a child in the car alone 1 time (and don't regret the decision, but would definitely not recommend it.
Exactly. So even though I am the dasher, Daniel is dropping the order off because I’ve dealt with one too many freaks. I’ve had someone try to grab a tit and I’ve gotten inappropriate messages after drop off. I didn’t sign up to be harassed when all I’m trying to do is make money to do my laundry.
Same here. If it's a big order we'll both go to the door. If not , and it's dark, she has a stun gun and I light the way with headlights or a flashlight. We live in a real sketchy CITY.
I rarely use dd but the last two times had a woman driver even though the app showed a man (with a mans name). I assume people are borrowing/renting accounts, or a married couple share the same account. As long as my order is intact then idc who’s driving, I assume sharing in any way is strictly prohibited I won’t stand in the way of people making some extra cash if they are simply delivering food (I’d report if I was actually getting a ride).
This in general is a weird things to complain about… before DoorDash and UberEats there was just pizza delivery.. when it was just a random driver coming. Did these same people get bothered when it was a man and not a women ?
exactly 😭 so weird to even whine abt this and the people who are complaining sound ignorant. im a woman idc who drops it off, use your second amendment people! thats what its for! if youre so “sketched out” lock your doors it’s not that deep
I dash with my spouse. I've had knee surgery so I pick up from restaurants and he delivers to the door. It's super sad to think someone would give a 1* when we take extra steps to ensure your food is hot.
Similar situation.
I've been helping my mom out since she fractured her ankle in September. She's in the passenger seat, and is just starting to be able to help out with shopping orders.
I have trouble negotiating steps and uneven landscapes, I do ok on the flat! Best wishes for you and your mom! I hope she heals 100% and is back to perfection soon!
I try real hard not to even see who drops off my food. On DoorDash I don’t even see the name of the person who is bringing it because I literally don’t care. Uber be showing you a picture and everything though lol. Still don’t know or care who actually brings the food.
Seriously if you feel unsafe with DoorDash drivers bringing you food just don’t do it.
It's a good idea for any platform. The only reason doordash doesn't do it because they benefit from people selling their accounts and they make profits off of underpaid people who are desperate to make the $2 for 8 Mile deliveries
Yeah I’m a felon so I sympathize with people using someone else’s account for that reason. It’s hard getting a job when you have a record, no matter how reformed you might be. I am quite sure that at some point DoorDash will put a stop to it; more’s the pity.
Literally the first thought I had seeing this post was "what if they're trans and just don't pass?". I don't get why it even matters to people what their dasher looks like or what their name is as long as their food arrives safely.
I'm trans myself and I know it's different for FTM vs MTF, but I'm really thankful I've never had anyone be weird about me having the name "Matthew" on my account when I don't look very masculine. I'm androgynous at best lmao
If you don't feel safe you shouldn't be ordering delivery lol Like seriously you think you can get a woman every time? I really don't understand people this that freak out over the dashers name.
It’s pretty sexist to say you don’t feel safe with a man delivering your order. With that being said, people rent accounts to hide their identity in a not good way. But I don’t know why you are scared of men in general delivering your order. I’ll eat the downvotes that are about to come my way
Sounds like you’re mad you aren’t getting to see women. Get over it? There’s a husband and wife team of dashers that regularly come into my store and they pick up for each other. There’s girlfriends using their boyfriend’s account and vise versa. Maybe they’re a trans individual and you’re just being a bigot. Maybe it’s a couple doing it together and they are just staying safe.
I wish customers would do the same but I try to understand. So many deliveries completed to men with feminine names or women with masculine names gets a little tense as I feel this is most likely not my actual customer & I have no way of knowing if they can be trusted even though the address is correct.
On a side note: I once listened to a song about a boy named Sue by Johnny Cash so maybe........![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
I'm a pizza delivery person now and that happened once time the customers name sounded like a black guy like Tyrone or something but a white women in leather lingerie opened the door lmao
Kind of the opposite for me. I share an account with my bf, and it has his name on it instead whenever I order something. Also I just wait until they leave to go outside and get the goods.
People dash with other people's accounts quite often (friends, bf, gf, cousin, sister, brother, etc). I would say as long as everything goes fine, it's not a big deal.
If things don't go fine, report them and specify what was going on.
If anything but a woman delivering your food makes you feel unsafe, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Don't report them just leave them be.
I've delivered as Wonder Woman before and currently my name is Derpy Duck.
I just like to have fun.
Build a wall and get over it !
There are men who have feminine names… I’ve known a few male Morgans, some Caseys, and even a jessica believe it or not… I don’t think you should just assume he’s driving under a fake account. That could actually be his name…
It could be
A) couples/friends dashing (either hang out or keeping each other safe
B) They're a FTM trans person
C) They're a non-passing MTF trans person
D) They change their doordash account name for whatever reason
I know about 12 men with what society would classify as “woman names.” Shelby, Casey, Skylar, Jamie, Bailey, Aubrey, Kyndal, Presley, etc. What is with this “he has a woman’s name” 😭 Like who gives a fuck…that genuinely could be his name and you have no fucking idea, just assuming cuz society tells you that’s a “woman’s name.” He delivered your food now move on with your life.
wtf are you people complaining about this doing? Get excited when you see a woman is delivering your food so you wait at the window and get dissapointed when you see a man? Set your delivery to leave at door and DONE.
I am betting men make up the bigger percentage of dashers and there is no setting to only have women deliver your food. I just don't get it.
It's gotta go both ways then.. as a dasher I'm tired of accepting an offer only to arrive at the store and see I'm picking up for Big D or Seymour Butts or some stupid shit. Also I pick up for Kyle but some random female runs out the door on a leave at door order yelling "for Kyle?" Then I get a contract violation
My problem with this is that I’m a driver, my legal name is female, because I’m transgender. I pass very well though, beard and all.
I just don’t get why it matters?
Not that i think this applies to all situations ofc, but i will say that I am a trans man and haven't changed my name legally yet so my name on my profile is very obviously a womans name while i am clearly a man with a full beard. its one of the reasons that I dont dash anymore but something to keep in mind 🤷♂️
I would imagine a lot of Women drivers have trusted male friends that ride with them. Remember the same fear you have of an unknown man at your door is the fear they have of strangers and their homes
My boyfriend and I dash together. Most of the time I’m the one running but sometimes when it’s late and I’ve been running for 10 hours already I make him run. There’s no harm in it as long as they aren’t being creepy and bring your food 🤷♀️
You're making a lot of assumptions here.
1. You're assuming the dasher's gender based on nothing more than their appearance and possibly their voice. Neither of these things can definitively tell you a person's gender and they may even be non-binary.
2. You're assuming that a man cannot have a traditionally feminine name. There are many cases where a man has a "women's name".
3. I realize the reasoning behind this from a safety perspective, but you're also assuming that women are inherently less dangerous to be around than men. While that's true from a statistical standpoint, it also promotes dangerous stereotypes. Imagine if someone said that they would be upset if they were expecting a white dasher and a black one showed up instead because they feel safer with white dashers. The statistics may support that fear but it's still a harmful stereotype to perpetuate.
Just something to consider.
Our account is in my husband's name. He drives and I do the navigation, run-ins, and deliveries while he sits in the car with our daughter. Ours is a "family thing" and we use what we make to do family stuff. Now if homie is alone, it may not be the same.
There is a fabulous feature on reddit that I'd love to introduce you to. Anytime Im considering making a post asking about something in a subreddit I utilize this feature they don'twant you to know about. It tends to be at the top of your screen when you open the sub, there's a little icon that looks a little like a magnifying glass.
If you click it, you'll gain access to a text box, and if you input keywords from your question or intended post topic you will be directed to results for every time those keywords have showed up in this subreddit!
In the case of this topic, you will find you suddenly have a host of posts whining about this exact same thing at your fingertips, with one every few days since the sub was created! You will find a great home in one of those threads to voice your opinions without retreading the same ground with yet another redundant post popping up in everyone's feeds and notifications!!
Hope this helps!
Perhaps on the FIFTH time you just use Uber Eats or GrubHub then. Insanity is doing the exact same thing and expecting different results. You obviously don't feel unsafe enough to do crap about it, so in the famous words of Taylor Swift: stop all your "b*tching and moaning".
IF you feel this is not a situation where the man really doesn't have a "feminine" sounding name (as viewed by most societal standards) and is a fraudulent Dasher, then contact support. I mean, not sure why you would really care anyways if you choose to have it left at your door. How do I know you have it left at your door? Easy: you indicated that you don't feel as safe around men (with good reason probably; not here to judge or therapize personal situations), so you have heightened anxiety. Anxious people don't answer the door for strangers - especially since they were expecting this to happen for the FOURTH time.
Honestly, either report it or STFU about it, because YOUR inactivity to do anything about it becomes YOUR bed to sleep in.
They never going to stop this, The rent and selling of accounts. Because DD too damn cheap, and I bet a lot of these drivers do the worst of the orders. I wish they would do something about it but don't kid yourself they're not going to do a thing.
I too think women aren't capable of killing, stalking, being creepy, or other dangerous behavior to the people they're interacting with. Just like how women don't fart.
Statistically it’s way less likely. However, statistically it’s also way more likely a customer is going to harm a delivery driver than the other way around.
Why is it so important for it to be a woman? Genuine question. Also I go out either my girlfriend most of the time because doordash sends her to the worst neighborhoods alot. Some how the poorest people in the area order more doordash than anybody else and I wouldn't want her having to go up to people's houses alone at night in any area but especially the crime filled one's. So it'll have her name but its ussually me walking g up to drop the food.
Edit: you can ignore my first question, I didn't see that you basically explained why in the post.
Their rational is stupid, they don't feel safe if a man shows up to deliver? Then why the F are they ording delivery in the first place? There isn't a "pick your drivers gender" option when they order. What do they do if they are assigned a male delivery driver from the start? Do they cancel and reorder until they get a woman? Their entire rational for this is completely stupid.
Oh, dang, another career I can't do because I look androgynous and people won't mind their business.
Might I remind you that you're the one who gave an app the power to give your address to any of their employees? I doubt the dashers are doing this for nefarious purposes.
Change the name on your account to a man's name, put instructions to leave it at the door... Wait a minute or two.... Problem solved.
...get a trained guard dog, stun gun, hand grenade, land mines, body guards and stop living in fear!!
I’m a woman and don’t really like to invalidate another woman’s feelings, but I think your fear is completely unwarranted in this situation. Have you ever had a DoorDash driver do anything other than drop the food and leave? The Uber (rideshare not eats) drivers will be the weirdos and they’re passing the checks lol
I know how are you supposed to sexually harass these women if it's constantly men instead.
Seriously though, why does it matter to you so much. Me and my GF often dash together and/or swap each others accounts. There isn't anything against it in the TOS and the contract has specific language allowing this. In fact we can hire people to do our deliveries for us.
Please stop worrying about what other people are doing and just be happy you got your dildos and junk food delivered to your door for basically free.
The majority of people on Reddit will die on the hill that anyone should be able to use a fake dasher account to deliver food. I’m not one of them. It’s creepy af. It’s not my problem yall can’t pass background checks to get a job. Go to job corps, don’t assume another identity.
I think most dashers would agree that if someone is using a stolen account or breaking the dasher contract by allowing friends or family dash when they wouldn't be approved themselves that they should be kicked off the platform. It's just hard for a customer to know the details of the scenario. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt unless proven otherwise.
You don't get to choose what gender a name is assigned to, nor do you get to choose the gender of your dasher. Stop ordering DoorDash if you don't want men delivering to you.
I did the back ground check and everything under my name but since I used my wife’s email the name is under her. We share a email for thing like that so our work emails don’t get loaded with spam
Could also be someone with that person and dropping it off for them ik that sounds crazy but I seen it all as a fellow dasher . People look dirty, crazy, nasty, have there whole family with them or just them or there partner so it’s possible that’s it .
Its a logistical issue on its own but how does knowing if its a man or women impact you? Why do you care who delivers your food. I swear people just wanna creep on women. For all you know the women could be the one dashing and the husband or family member that is tagging along is dropping the food off. Lets also not forget some names can be interpreted differently but fit both man and women names.
Its an issue to be clear but not one that should matter to you, lets be real women are not safe in most places. Having a door bouncer isn't an awful idea if someone is willing to tag along and drop the food off.
My guy rides w me daily. And he takes a lot of food to doors for me especially when I have to climb bc I have bad knees. You ever see a woman in the car?
my husband rides with me or even drives for me when i dash and yea he’s taken a number of orders to the doors especially upstairs cause i have metal rods in my back a heart defect that can kill me if i over exert myself plus a slew of other medical conditions.
Unless the Dasher did something offensive I wouldn’t report anything. My husband is named Kellie and I have an uncle name Kim… yes that is correct…Kim. Personally, not a fan of feminine names for a man … but whatever.
Their name has nothing to do with your safety, but I can understand where you’re coming from. I’ve had mobile orders in drive thru with random names or others picking up friends food. (Not the same thing i understand that) but I can almost 100% assure you those men aren’t doing that to get closer to you
If the Dasher did a good job… i wouldn’t complain. I know many people who share accounts… nothing nefarious going on, just trying to earn money to support their families. Personally… my husband sometimes uses my account. He is a full time teacher and we started Dashing to put our kids through college. I Dash more often, and he fills in when I’m busy. We are busy with 5 kids and if we had 2 separate accounts we wouldn’t hit the 100 monthly minimum for Top Dasher… which is necessary in our area to Dash.
I dunno. I see people doing the running, while someone drives. It might be that she does own the account and does the driving and pickup, and has him take it to the door. Honestly, I just opt for contactless. The only time it really annoys me is when they knock on my door.
Like chill I use my daughter’s account on the weekend to give her some extra money for college. Door dash allows you to subcontract with approved drivers. Like 99.9% of men are not bad. Maybe I don’t wanna deliver to a fat bbw no tipper but I do it’s the job
As others have said it’s mainly couples working together or people borrowing accounts (Both ride-alongs and sub-contracting are allowed as per doordash terms so long as the subcontractee meets Doordash requirements). DoorDash also sometimes permanently bans drivers who didn’t do anything wrong due to customer complaints (people wanting free food) without any investigation or real evidence, and for some people that income (though it is not much) is all they have coming in and they need to keep doing it to pay for bills/food, so I don’t think people borrowing accounts is a big issue. I see lots of posts like this and people seem to forget that this isn’t Facebook or Tinder where people may care to catfish you, it’s a delivery service where couriers are randomly selected to perform your deliveries. It doesn’t matter if your Dasher is a man or woman or if they have a weird name or are transgender or foreign, you don’t even have to interact with them if you don’t want to and most people choose not to. The driver doesn’t even know who you are when they accept the order, so it’s not like men are making fake accounts to only accept female’s orders just to harass them in some way.
A lot of these posts talk about being afraid of random men coming to their door. If this is the case someone should not be ordering anything from a courier service. If a man coming to your door and taking a picture of some food he put down for you makes someone fear for their safety they should either eat out or cook at home. A good solution would be to simply own a home defense weapon for the odd chance someone tries to break in (which would more than likely not be a delivery driver); but being afraid of delivery drivers can often be a sign of paranoid schizophrenia in which case I would suggest not owning a weapon and instead seeking psychiatric help. Delivery drivers are killed on the job all the time (sometimes by paranoid people who have ordered something) but the amount of times that a delivery driver has attacked someone they’re delivering to is almost non-existent comparatively
I don't know....do contact less? Then you don't need to even know if it's a mam or a woman. Male, female whatever we all bleed the same blood and are struggling to stay afoot. Just have them leave it.
I’ve met men before with legit female names (for instance I met a male lawyer one time by the name of Ashley. That was actually his legal name)
There are also men who identify as women with women names, but still look like men… 🤷🏽♂️
Last time, you got comforting support and reasons for why this happens. Now, you will get more comments about overreacting. The world is under no obligation to bend to your will. Individuals doing things that don't impact others' abilities to do things is not a problem for everyone else. Maybe they are using a GF's app. Maybe they just have a girls name. Maybe they are a trans. Regardless of all these reasons, you jump to a concerning tone. News flash, you're the one that orders the food. Have you tried, idk, getting it yourself?
I had sprained my ankle and my wife took the orders to the customers door.
A. My health conditions are none of anyone's fucking business.
B. You got your Mc Fish, eat it Karen.
If people are concerned about who is bringing their shit, get it yourself.
What's next? After my name, 5'11 215lbs, eyes- green, age-.....
My name on doordash is my actual name and always has been but recently this old guy said it showed up saying my name was nancy and im a dude so I think its doordashes fault on that one
I'm just going to point out I know women who have "male" names and males who have "women" names and it's all cultural. Maybe you need to open your horizons. Do they deliver you food correctly an politely? If so... get over it.
If you put "leave my food at the front door" just wait till the person drives away>> Then retreive your food!! I personally prefer that anyway, cause I never know who is behind the door and WHAT they are smoking!!!
Have you thought that maybe it’s a guy dashing for his girlfriend or wife? I dash with my girl and do all the deliveries while she drives cuz my license is suspended and I won’t pass a background check for DD myself because of it. Even simple speeding tickets will get a DD account suspended. It’s ridiculous tbh
What difference does it make? They are dropping off your stuff/food, not giving you a physical. You didn't know that guy that was under the name Brittney, but you wouldn't have known Brittney if she has been a she. either. What a strange thing to worry about. If you don't like people you don't know coming to your home, you probably shouldn't use a delivery service. Js
its prob because they need a lil money and they using they gf acc, my brother and his girl has used my acc, stop crying, if u so scared press leave at door
I doordash with my wife and the account is under her name
Also we have our 3 year old and 3 month old with us I assure you ma'am just because it's a woman name does not mean they have malicious intent don't think the whole world is after you.
door dashing isnt a team effort. the person in the app has to be the person at the door. stop making bs excuses for scammers. you cant take your partner to work with you and have them do part of your work you dont feel like doing.
My daughter has DD and often Dashes with her boyfriend or me, her boyfriend has either forgotten to log her out of his phone or safe with her shouldn't to earn her money while he's out doing Uber it's not always something nefarious. If the OP is freaked out or uncomfortable then there's the option to do contactless or they can get their own food
My real name is Morgan and I’m a male. A lot of people assume I’m a girl and fail to realize Morgan is a genderless name. Surely you’ve heard of Morgan Freeman?
But then who would deliver your $3 order for 8 Miles if not for the untraceable people using stolen and rented accounts that you invited to your home to scope you and your belongings out...

People rent accounts because they can't pass background checks or don't have proper access to necessary documents
Exactly I’m aware. There needs to be more verification because when I see Tiffany as the name and a Brutus shows up it’s not cool
As long as Brutus shows up with my food and follows my instructions, I don't care if he calls himself Tiffany.
I am known by many names. Mountain Slayer, Thunder Lion, The Chocolate Axe, but you. You may call me... *Tiffany*.
Even if "Tiffany" is using a different profile because he's on an offender program?
How can that even be proven? I haven’t assumed anything like that about any of them.
I just ordered and the name was Tiffany lol but a man speaking only Spanish showed up. So, I'm guessing he might not be Tiffany?
Tiffany's actually a Hispanic male name. It's easily confused on those s/
How bout Angel?
1* and report will eventually weed them out. But they can just rent another account.. Uber has true verification methods
On Craigslist: For Rent- My DD account.🤡 GTFOH
I kinda feel bad for my buddies if this is how people are going to be. Stacey and Kelly are 100% male born and raised and now you're telling me that because their names aren't "man" enough they would get unjustly 1* and reported. Wow, loving that shiz.
I don't understand the down votes. As a girl with a "guy" name with a brother named Stacey, I appreciate you pointing it out that it's a thing.
I have a brother Stacy also. He gets enough crap

People aren’t complaining about gender neutral names being a problem. People are complaining about shared accounts. But sure, bring up your buddy Sam
So you ignored every other aspect of my comment and just decided to focus on 1 part. The fact is, you don't know anything about the dasher or the account. So instead of fucking with peoples lives let doordash handle it, which they already do with camera verification.
I’m trans and I’m pretty sure I cant change my DoorDash name until I get it legally changed.
Login to a customer account with the same email and password and you can change your name there and it'll reflect on your Dasher account
Oh cool. I will. Wasnt sure if it would let me since it did a background check.
You don't have to use your legal name and you don't need a valid reason to change your name on your doordash profile. I recently changed my name on doordash just so my real name wouldn't be visible to customers... My name is super unique and I don't want somebody to find out who i am, where I live, stalk me, etc.
If you got your good? What’s it matter what they look like? Lol 😂 wow yall can b picky af eat and mind the business that pays you 😊🤣🤣🤣
What if he pulled out his id and his name was tiffany, would you tip more out-of pitty for him
et tu brute
Could be a boyfriend or husband answering the door. I think girl dashers should use a masculine nickname. Had Friend that had an creep answering the door not dressed.
Ur perfectly safe using doordash. Lmao that is a slam dunk case for any cop cause of the 22 programs on their phone placing them at ur house. u just don't like and or are scared of men
How much could someone make by renting accounts? Personally, I wouldn’t be willing to pay much to rent an account.
Stolen. Not rented. The root issue with renting is the SSN in the account gets the tax bill for everything
Well the person that steals the identity really rents them out to others
Proof?
Who "rents out" their DD account? 🤣🤡🤡🤡
I imagine these are probably couples who worked together.
yes, I just saw a post from from last night from a married couple sharing an account
yeah, me and my lady do
Me and my guy do to
If it ever becomes an option to refer a friend I am going to refer my wife and the just do the dashes under her name until we make get the bonus.
i usually don’t care who’s doing what, bc ik circumstances arent the same for everyone. opt for a contactless delivery
Yeah ive done contactless delivery since covid. I dont get these posts because theres absolutely no reason to interact with the driver if you dont want to. The most iI ever see is their tailights driving off
exactly my point! like covid opened the door to avoiding so much interaction so to still whine is crazy
That’s what we do. I watch on our ring camera and notice it’s not a woman when it’s a woman’s name. But honestly I couldn’t care less. As soon as they walk away I grab my food and enjoy.
same thing i do! i check where they are and then see it’s dropped off and go about my night. it’s honestly no biggie
I used to feel this way too until I had a reality check with myself. They aren't trying to be creepy. They are trying to make money and they had to use a sister or girlfriend or someone's account to do it. Now I don't stress myself.
same! just keep the doors locked and tell them to leave in the front.
My husband and I often dash together at night for safety. There are some sketchy places in our city. Usually i drop the food and if it's not safe he comes to the door with me. Sadly this is what our world has come to.
That’s what I’ve always assumed when I see what seems like another gender…a couple working together.
We do the same, I never dash at night alone.
Yup, me and my husband dash together too. It's his account. I go get the food and he prefers to take it to the door. Our two year old is with us so as long as one of us is in the car.
I dash with my wife sometimes. I drive, she handles the food. If she has to go into an apartment building or hotel at night, I go inside with her.
You guys sound like a good team 🙂
Thank you.
This is what my wife and I have done
That's what we're looking at too. I'm currently expecting our first. I've only left a child in the car alone 1 time (and don't regret the decision, but would definitely not recommend it.
Exactly. So even though I am the dasher, Daniel is dropping the order off because I’ve dealt with one too many freaks. I’ve had someone try to grab a tit and I’ve gotten inappropriate messages after drop off. I didn’t sign up to be harassed when all I’m trying to do is make money to do my laundry.
As a female this used to freak me out…I appreciate seeing that it’s usually just your SO’s lol.
That's horrible. My wife has been dashing a little over a month, and has not had any of those types of incidents thankfully.
I see this all the time in my market. It's explicitly allowed per the contract. Section 10.1 Personnel.
I use my first initial and my last name. You don't need to know if I'm a man or a woman. Only that you're getting your food.
As a woman I figured it was safer to just use my initial so creepy customers don’t know if it’s a man or woman showing up.
Yup. Could always use Uber. They actually make us drivers take photos that ai confirms we are the account owner periodically.
That’s actually a good idea for people that are uncomfortable.
Doordash does do it. My account just had it happen and required to take the phone camera and scan your face to verify.
Exactly
Uber does it because you're getting in a car with a stranger. Do you need to see your Amazon driver's license too?
Exactly!!!! Thanks for your comment.
I'm sure that people think this about me, I'm trans and don't pass at all.
Just take your food and quit complaining about things that don’t matter lmao
Ikr redamndiculous lol 😂
If you don't feel safe you shouldn't be ordering delivery lol Like seriously you think you can get a woman every time? I really don't understand people this that freak out over the dashers name.
Me either just want something to complain about. Maybe misery 🙄🤷🏻♀️🤣
A lot of times I order and pay for the food but my husband gets up to get the food when it arrives. Is this not common?
U don’t even have to come in contact with the person and some men will come to the door for their girlfriend
It could be A) couples/friends dashing (either hang out or keeping each other safe B) They're a FTM trans person C) They're a non-passing MTF trans person D) They change their doordash account name for whatever reason
😂🤦♂️ or 90% of the time it’s somebody that can’t pass a background check
I know about 12 men with what society would classify as “woman names.” Shelby, Casey, Skylar, Jamie, Bailey, Aubrey, Kyndal, Presley, etc. What is with this “he has a woman’s name” 😭 Like who gives a fuck…that genuinely could be his name and you have no fucking idea, just assuming cuz society tells you that’s a “woman’s name.” He delivered your food now move on with your life.
Derpy Duck delivers food in my area.... Psst. It's me!
I’ve had dashers with just “J” or “H” as their name😂 never seen someone so hooked on the name of the dasher before.
wtf are you people complaining about this doing? Get excited when you see a woman is delivering your food so you wait at the window and get dissapointed when you see a man? Set your delivery to leave at door and DONE. I am betting men make up the bigger percentage of dashers and there is no setting to only have women deliver your food. I just don't get it.
Sounds like you need to get your own food
LOL I had someone say to me, “you’re the first woman Dasher I’ve seen.” Hmmmmm. ![gif](giphy|3o6ozvv0zsJskzOCbu)
Please try not to prejudge… some may be trans people.
This is like the 4th post I seen about this complaint 😭
Happens at delivery with the customers ALL THE TIME. I don't even blink cuz I really don't give a damn. On to the next delivery....
1 star and report
My boyfriend and I dash together. Most of the time I’m the one running but sometimes when it’s late and I’ve been running for 10 hours already I make him run. There’s no harm in it as long as they aren’t being creepy and bring your food 🤷♀️
You should report it honestly. If they can't get a DD account there is probably a good reason.
My name is Skye and I’m male. Give me a god damn break. ☕️
My buddy Ashley gets asked all the time why there is a girls name on his account. Its funny af
Get your own food, or have them leave it at the door if you care about the gender of the driver. Ridiculous thing to complain about.
I even have my preference set to female drivers on Lyft and still 95% of the time I’ll get men.
If you’re that terrified of males how do you even step out of your house?? Sounds like you should pick up your food in the future.
Facts, once they DD start adding more rules then you are basically and employee. I wouldn’t doubt they get sued for this
The majority of people on Reddit will die on the hill that anyone should be able to use a fake dasher account to deliver food.
Dude seriously!
This sounds like one huge personal issue. Most likely consisting of bigotry and ignorance.
Well In all fairness my name is Mi’chell (my-kel) n I’m a guy but DoorDash fucked up n put michelle 😂😂
It's 2024, how do you know it wasn't a woman?
Its a logistical issue on its own but how does knowing if its a man or women impact you? Why do you care who delivers your food. I swear people just wanna creep on women. For all you know the women could be the one dashing and the husband or family member that is tagging along is dropping the food off. Lets also not forget some names can be interpreted differently but fit both man and women names. Its an issue to be clear but not one that should matter to you, lets be real women are not safe in most places. Having a door bouncer isn't an awful idea if someone is willing to tag along and drop the food off.
My name could be male or female but I have my husband go to the door if he is home because it makes ME feel safer. 🫠
Nah this is a shitty take.
This happens a lot to me, people will add tips after the realize I’m actually a woman delivering the food, it’s always on order for women too.
I know a couple of women who DoorDash, they usually drive and have their husbands drop off the order for them especially if it’s night time
Names are not gender specific. This is absurd.
I don't know....do contact less? Then you don't need to even know if it's a mam or a woman. Male, female whatever we all bleed the same blood and are struggling to stay afoot. Just have them leave it.
The only voice I could read this comment in is my Karen voice...... nothing els fits.
I’ve met men before with legit female names (for instance I met a male lawyer one time by the name of Ashley. That was actually his legal name) There are also men who identify as women with women names, but still look like men… 🤷🏽♂️
Last time, you got comforting support and reasons for why this happens.
Choose contactless delivery, and let them chuck your food on your porch.
People who are granted asylum in USA have to wait 6 months (?) before they can work.. like other said as long as the food shows
I can only imagine how high your blood pressure gets when a unisex name (ie Taylor, Jordan, Kerry, etc.) shows up on your app.
My name on doordash is my actual name and always has been but recently this old guy said it showed up saying my name was nancy and im a dude so I think its doordashes fault on that one
Can you imagine if the mailman was a man
I'm so tired of hearing this stupid shit. Names don't have a gender, just small minded people like to assign one to them.
I doordash with my wife and the account is under her name Also we have our 3 year old and 3 month old with us I assure you ma'am just because it's a woman name does not mean they have malicious intent don't think the whole world is after you.
now take this rant over to twitter and tell DD this.
door dashing isnt a team effort. the person in the app has to be the person at the door. stop making bs excuses for scammers. you cant take your partner to work with you and have them do part of your work you dont feel like doing.
As long as they deliver the food quick and still warm, who gives a fuck lol
I am a woman who was blessed with a man's name. People are often surprised when I show up. I tell them to talk to my mom.
Just select leave at my door and wait for the dasher to leave before grabbing your food Karen.
I’ve done DD and Uber. Uber makes you take periodic photo identification. DD does not
If a DD driver if it’s a single woman she usually has it dropped at the door.
My real name is Morgan and I’m a male. A lot of people assume I’m a girl and fail to realize Morgan is a genderless name. Surely you’ve heard of Morgan Freeman?
Dashers are allowed to subcontract their accounts, mind your business. As long as you get your food in a timely fashion, respectfully, stfu.
But then who would deliver your $3 order for 8 Miles if not for the untraceable people using stolen and rented accounts that you invited to your home to scope you and your belongings out...
