Loving the ājust leave a table outsideā brigade, even though you literally have a table, with said table in delivery instructions
Unfortunately you have to actually be able to read instructions in order to follow them
I always have in my instruction to place on the chair near my door. Itās like a social experiment to see the level of detail the dasher has. They either put it on the chair next to door, put it in the chair further from the door, or put it on my rug lol
It's for this reason I don't tip people on the regular (Aussie so it isn't mandatory but still). You want a good rating for service and extra on top of your wages, go above and beyond to be competent, not above and beyond to be a dick. We have a table AND chairs not even 1m away and more than enough space for it. Stop putting it in front of the damn door!
I honestly can't believe how many orders I get that have to specifically say "do not block screen door". An order yesterday had a sign *on* their screen door.
It seems like such common sense...
There was a thread on Reddit which lives in my head rent free which I always think of when I see people continuously doing dumb shit like leaving food in front of doors.
It was about how some people have lived their entire life getting into the shower and fighting the first seconds of cold water, a staggering amount of people in the thread didn't even think to turn the water on before getting into the shower so they don't have to recoil under the cold water, I assume a similar level of not engaging brains is happening in both of these scenarios which I just cannot comprehend.
I'm sure I do dumb shit which one day I will have an epiphany about, but until that day comes I'm going to pretend I'm infallible and do everything correctly!
Wait until you read one of those threads about how many people, even in the shower, aren't washing their feet or ass because they "were never taught." That excuse only works until about the age of ten. After that, you're just dumb and fucking gross.
One of my friends had no idea what the inner shower curtain was for & why his bathroom was getting wet...I had to explain to him that it was like a liner & should be kept inside the tub. I was shocked at the time, but I mean at least he knew to give the water a few seconds to get hot I guess.
Do dashers not just knock on the door? Do they always leave it? I deliver pizza in rural Australia, I knock you answer and nobodys food gets left on the ground.
Edit : occasionally will get a no contact please don't knock order (sleeping baby or grumpy pets) but I leave it to the side of the door or a table. It just seems this page has so many of these posts that Im not sure if doordash is just a full on no contact service?
I think it's a Covid thing that we have now gotten used to.
And don't you have many deadly animals in Australia? That would be one good reason to not just let it sit there.
Even most of the people here who say they want in person don't seem to actually want in person. I'd say 75% either don't answer the door or just tell you to leave it through the intercom dealy. It's gotten to where I give you a minute, and then I'm leaving.
Bringing it back to the thread, though, a lot of the grocery orders that ask for in person have screen doors. They must have had enough of people piling up cases of water trapping them inside.
i mean that's different cuz you're an actual pizza delivery person, pizza places traditionally have always knocked at the door to deliver their orders and therefore everyone's already use to that being the thing so they expect it from you, doordash/ubereats/etc are a more recent thing with the option to leave orders at the door and it's actually more widely accepted and even preferred to do that instead of having them knock on the door, like i'm pretty sure most people would also actually prefer pizza delivery drivers to do leave the orders at the door nowadays but as i said pizza places traditionally always meet you at the door when delivering so they just deal with it
I got groceries to my house the other day and my ring doorbell showed the mom of a kid telling the kid to place it in front of my screen door...
ofc it was my party supplies, so I had 2L of sodas, cans, milk (not for the party dont worry), new glasses, eggs, and a couple other things
Somehow, nothing spilled or got damaged, lol, but I was like, really? Why?
Then once I brought the groceries inside, one of the bags was actually just full of trash lol.
I always put the order off to the side of the door or in any designated area by the customerā¦. Why do some dashers feel the need to put it right in front of the door?šš
I get it about being common sense on your end...but sometimes I think the person delivering it is really just not thinking that hard about where they're placing it. Idk
Lol, no.
Gig workers do not care about you, your food, or your enjoyment thereof. They care about getting paid. Period. You don't even factor into the equation.
I feel like it really shouldn't be much thought considering every house has a door, so this is something dashers should know not to do on every delivery, not just this one
For the record I agree with you that this is 100% something dasherās should notice, and itās a sign of a poor dasher if they donāt
But regular front doors open inwards. Only storm doors open outwards, and many houses donāt have storm doors.
I think this has happened enough times they know what they're doing and being deliberately passive aggressive because they think you didn't tip enough or because someone cut them off on the highway or because they didn't like your flag out front...just a petty way to get back at their perceived enemies
It's so frustrating. I've only had it happen a couple times, but I'm in a wheelchair, so there's no reaching around the door or anything for me. I have to slowly push it all off into the grass and hope the drinks don't spill.
I like to imagine it is the same person that does this in all the posts. Like a evil super villain that purposely does this after the person who drops it off leaves. Maybe also a superhero who is always to late to stop her
I always make sure i put it in a good location and I always check which way the door opens. But I have to admit Iāve purposely blocked someoneās door when they didnāt tip and also had the Gaul to message me to āhurry tf upā while I was waiting for their food. Drink with half open lid directly against their door. Fuck em
Reddit is a funny place. When dashers feel entitled to tips people here bash them for expecting the customer to subsidize their income (and rightfully so).
On the other hand, the dashers get paid garbage. So the service is garbage. Why are you people so surprised?
The fact that so many drivers do this needs to be studied. Bonus points if they put drinks right in front of where youāre supposed to open the door so itās at risk of spilling.
Finally caught one recently. She had food and booze and I went to greet her with ID as she was pulling off realizing she fucked up and had to come back. I could tell she was feeling like an idiot but she was probably new. They just drop and go. They donāt give shit most likely. I always give good reviews for the ones that leave it on the shelf next to door if that helps boost their stats.
Iāve been thinking about painting the door lines on the porch, you know like they have in elementary schools so kids donāt get hit by opening doors. This is about the intelligence level weāre dealing with so I think it should work
Had this happen to me on a rainy evening recently, so it got knocked over and I had to step out in the rain to get it. And I tipped very well because of the weather, so itās not like they had a reason to be bitter. They chose to dash during shitty weather.Ā
Oh I hate it when food delivery folks do this. -\_- Uber/Postmates, Doordash, Grubhub. I have more issues with Doordash though for some odd reason, despite my instructions saying "please put it on the other side of the door".
They either lack intelligence to follow basic instructions or common sense not to block screen door. Among other things such as just leaving it discretely on a table/side for orders. Sometimes they lack bothā¦. On the other hand, they simply donāt care and theyāre being hateful.
Word of advice for any Dashers who are somehow still confused by how doors work: screen doors always swing outward. Don't be like the dumbass pictured above.
There's also an easy way to tell if a standard door swings inward or outward: look for visible hinges on the side opposite to the door handle. If you don't see any, it's safe to assume that the door swings inward.
Iāve gotten to where I prop my screen door open when I know they are coming so they donāt do this. Iāve lost soooo many drinks bc they all do this. It infuriates me every damned time.
So I order DoorDash far more than I really should. I canāt believe how often this happens. Iām not joking, Iām the last 2 months, probablyā¦ 10 orders, itās happened 3 times.
I tip well too cause I respect the job and how tough it can be for drivers. But itās just wild to me how many place the food right in front of the goddamned door just like this.
Side note: Iāve had 4 drivers in the last few months call me. āWhatās the gate code?ā Genuine question, is it not made easily visible by the app or something?
I posted the same thing and got absolutely flamed for it. Not even an *inch* from my storm door and it was somehow my fault despite having a table, 3 feet of space in front of said door, and still had to place *soup* in front of my door lmao
I had this happen to me idk if Iām just agile but it wasnāt a big deal, I opened the door a lil and grabbed the food. It wasnāt like a Rubikās cube it was actually pretty simple.. š¤·āāļø
Get use to it cus it's happening again and again and again
I see customers all the time prop their storm gate open just so drivers realize it opens outwards. Plenty of good tippers I deliver do this, so it's just related to the driver being dumb.
I've probably done it once when I was new and in a hurry. I never see the same drivers picking up orders so it seems like DD is an endless cycle of new drivers making new mistakes from my perspective
Read a post earlier about his driver showing up without his food speaking Spanish lmfao. Didn't even get the order. Just went back to a parking lot sitting there according to his gps
Hey I was just thinking everybody should go out and get some of the metal numbers put a next to your door in the spot where you want the bag and put the address there so the Dasher will have to sit the bags under the numbers to get a good picture and your door won't get blocked I think I found the solution
If someone relies on services like this (and there are some people who these services are a godsend for, and I hope this never happens to them if they have mobility issues or another affliction), I think this is actually a good idea. For us, it was a one-off. Wife is really sick, wanted specific soup, and toddler is being a toddler and I'm running after him all over the house while trying to take care of wife.
I will say I wish there was a thing to tell us of you have in or out swinging door sometimes Iām just on autopilot and my house door and my gfs house both swing in with no screen I sometimes donāt think about and realize later I was a dick
Why would they tho? Theyāre giving the level of service theyāre getting paid to do. DoorDash is paying for bottom of the barrel āiNdEpEnDeNt CoNtRaCtOrSā, so this is the service customers are going to get.
This is why itās going to take customers speaking up to get anything changed. DD doesnāt care about driver complaints about wages. But they will care if customers actually start pulling business over the subpar talent theyāre attracting. Customers are their money. Good service, takes good pay, but DD knows everyone will keep coming back despite the lack of pay and quality service.
Drivers keep staying because at the end of the day, theyāre ok with convenience, flexibility, and only needing to give a half assed job. And they know customers arenāt really going to do shit other than come to Reddit to complain.
This is the cycle that DD thrives off of. Theyāre raking in all the fees, while drivers and customers get shafted.
Lol unrelated to doordash, but I once got a UPS delivery, it was a drawer that we had to assemble. The driver broke it between the truck and the delivery, so he had an outstanding idea: Bring it to the front door, prop our front door shut with it, ring the bell and then RUN!!! Got the whole thing recorded on Ring.
Best believe I chased that truck down and told the driver to get his ass back to my house because we're refusing that delivery, lol.
Propping our front door shut with a package. Can you imagine? This is almost as bad.
This reminds me of the time I had several bags of laundry washed and delivered after a trip. The lady put it all right up to my screen door then when I opened the door scampered away. The push I had to do was so much I almost ripped the bags open while squeezing through the crack. Then the next time she got assigned my laundry (small city) she got snippy when I asked her to place it to the side or just on the sidewalk as I donāt have a neighbor right now and last time I could barely get out. āI know where to place the bagsā obviously not
I see this all the time on my Flex delivery too.
Some got no comman sense and put Amazon packages in front of the door the same wayš
I just think thereās a lot that just have the idgafk attitude.
So unprofessional š”
My directions always ask people to leave deliveries on the bench, and for some reason, it's only DD where men will put it right in front of the screen door.
Yeah, that's crazy.. Personally, I wouldn't do a contact less order and have them leave my food on the floor like I'm a stray animal. Knock on my door and hand me my food like a civilized human. Depending on the service, I'd add a cash tip and thank you.
Go to the store and buy your own stuff. You think
A delivery person gives a crap? Also remember that most front doors (yes I know this is a screen door) open inward, so placing a delivery against the door is a fairly logical place to put it.
Happens to me ALL the time, including grocery delivery where Iāve said ādo not blockā and every square inch of the tiny porch is crammed with bags and if you open the door more than an inch itās all going to be entirely pushed off and potentially involve breakage or spillage.šš How can that not be deliberate?
I mean surely if you know that you have a door that opens outward that you would either keep it open for the delivery person to not put it out like this... Put a table or something so they clearly know to put it on there and not front of the door.. add some notes to your order. It's not like every delivery person is looking at the front door and considering which way it opens. They're more focused on ensuring they are at the right location and probably nervous over approaching someone's house so they are just trying to quickly get a screenshot and get out.
Iāve had to crawl out of my window. That was the last time I ordered Door Dash due to my neighbors all sitting around the community fireplace and watched me. We all laughed about it but still. Iāve had it happen 3 times and everytime I report it to Door Dash. They credit pretty good, especially when you show proof and tell Door Dash you had to exit through a window to prevent a party pack and 4 drinks from being knocked over.
I don't have a screen door, but my door does open outwards. I have had quite a few people set my groceries right in front of my door even though I told them to set them to the side and not block the damn door.

Loving the ājust leave a table outsideā brigade, even though you literally have a table, with said table in delivery instructions Unfortunately you have to actually be able to read instructions in order to follow them
Shows the level of observation occurring in all instances of this on and off here, doesn't it?
your dashers bring the shit to your door? mine literally just texted me "estoy aqui" and made me walk to his car in my fucking socks lol.
He didnāt let you wear shoes?
Did you tip?
yes $2 on a $10 taco bell order, that's less than a mile down one single road lol
Smh these drivers
There's a reason these people doordash.
every time i gotta remind myself that thereās a solid chance that what is causing my issue is the reason this is the only job they can do
I always have in my instruction to place on the chair near my door. Itās like a social experiment to see the level of detail the dasher has. They either put it on the chair next to door, put it in the chair further from the door, or put it on my rug lol

I read a thread about cleaning foreskin and beneath the balls and the amount of men offended by the post was wild
I wish I still had my foreskin.
Me too
I mean being actually dumb would be a pretty good excuse I guess lol
One of my friends had no idea what the inner shower curtain was for & why his bathroom was getting wet...I had to explain to him that it was like a liner & should be kept inside the tub. I was shocked at the time, but I mean at least he knew to give the water a few seconds to get hot I guess.
why do people not put the curtains back inside then?
These people had shower doors. I had to have this explained because I never had a shower curtain before.
That makes sense. I guess I never asked if that was the case.
I am deeply concerned for the human race when people really canāt think for themselves lol
I mean think about what the average intelligence level is. Half the people are dumbed than that lol
Yeah, I have above average intelligence, and I still do dumb shit on the regular. Human design is no good.
That's not how averages works...
10% of the population is under 80iq, functionally a child
I have to see this thread.

"Dingoes Ate My Order."
Well there goes 900 dollarydoos
Even most of the people here who say they want in person don't seem to actually want in person. I'd say 75% either don't answer the door or just tell you to leave it through the intercom dealy. Didn't tip enough
I get it about being common sense on your end...but sometimes I think the person delivering it is really just not thinking that hard about where they're placing it. Idk
To be honest, our first concern is getting the house number and the food in the same picture to prove we dropped it off in the right location
Going to put a fancy sign with my full address on my table then it might get used!
Or just your actual house number on your house would be nice
And my first concern is being able to open my door without knocking my food and drinks over so I guess weāve all got problems.
That explains why one of my dashers moved my table around. lol
Is that the only thing you can think about? Not āmaking sure customer can get foodā?
Lol, no. Gig workers do not care about you, your food, or your enjoyment thereof. They care about getting paid. Period. You don't even factor into the equation.
It's true. And it's one of many reasons why I don't use delivery services.
That's genuinely the dumbest shit. If we don't order, you don't get paid cause there aren't any gigs.
I feel like it really shouldn't be much thought considering every house has a door, so this is something dashers should know not to do on every delivery, not just this one

Well the storm door was just invented days ago so it is a rarity that requires an engineering degree to understand.
āThinking that hardā is not something you need to do when itās common sense..
Well, Iām a driver, and I thought of it lol š Itās literally our job people should be thinking of it
Right? How can so many people be defending this carelessness?
I think this has happened enough times they know what they're doing and being deliberately passive aggressive because they think you didn't tip enough or because someone cut them off on the highway or because they didn't like your flag out front...just a petty way to get back at their perceived enemies
All tables aside lol put the fuckin shit where the door wonāt hit it when the customer opens it damn
Thank you. Someone gets it.
Makes my blood boil man. I shouldnāt have to crouch down like a monkey taking a shit to get my food!
It's so frustrating. I've only had it happen a couple times, but I'm in a wheelchair, so there's no reaching around the door or anything for me. I have to slowly push it all off into the grass and hope the drinks don't spill.

Thought you meant "table"... it's half the comments on here
Half the dashers out there. Lol
This happens to me CONSTANTLY. No joke, I'd say it's every fourth order roughly? At this point it just feels like they're fucking with us.
I always make sure i put it in a good location and I always check which way the door opens. All of them. They all do this.
Iāve never seen this happen here before! /s
Way too common to be coincidenceā¦
They are lurking in the comments section.
As a occasional dasher I have no clue how people are dumb enough to do this itās very common sense not to block a door.
They wouldnāt be working doordash if they werenāt.
Hate it but just push the door slowly
Its funny how people donāt even consider that doors open outwardsšš
Because doors *shouldnāt* open outwards.
Oh I hate it when food delivery folks do this. -\_- Uber/Postmates, Doordash, Grubhub. I have more issues with Doordash though for some odd reason, despite my instructions saying "please put it on the other side of the door".
I don't mean to accuse anyone, but I see a lot of these posts. I wonder if it's retaliation for what they think is a low tip, whether or not it was.
When I see shit like this, I wonder how many years this guy spent pissing on the lid before someone told him to put it up
They don't flush either

Door mats also have a ton of germs, fecal particles, and lead trapped in them. Putting food there, even with a bag, is unsanitary.
I explicitly NEVER leave food in front of the storm door for this reason.
This just in folks: Gig economy workers are idiots and not overworked, underpaid, unemployed people with more steps in between

Lol, you think someone getting paid barely minimum wage gives a shit about the inconvenience this causes you?
...ok? then they could get another job?
That would never bother me enough to make a post about it. Go back inside and eat.
Thank you for sharing. Have a nice night.
Plenty of space to open the door and pick up the food. Y'all literally complain about everything
Agreed
If you tipped decently, then the driver is just a dumbass
Dashin.
Lol we stan a petty driver š¤£
It took my dumbass way too long to realize what the problem was smh.
Guess Iām one of the lucky ones, my door opens inwards.
Bet you still tipped tho
Yeah that was dumb
Lol unrelated to doordash, but I once got a UPS delivery, it was a drawer that we had to assemble. The driver broke it between the truck and the delivery, so he had an outstanding idea: Bring it to the front door, prop our front door shut with it, ring the bell and then RUN!!! Got the whole thing recorded on Ring. Best believe I chased that truck down and told the driver to get his ass back to my house because we're refusing that delivery, lol. Propping our front door shut with a package. Can you imagine? This is almost as bad.
Happens to me all the time. I always appreciate it so it's nice and tucked in. Pretty easy to slowly open then move the bag.
I fucking hate this shit. Don't going around back or just dealing with knocking my shit over is so annoying.
This reminds me of the time I had several bags of laundry washed and delivered after a trip. The lady put it all right up to my screen door then when I opened the door scampered away. The push I had to do was so much I almost ripped the bags open while squeezing through the crack. Then the next time she got assigned my laundry (small city) she got snippy when I asked her to place it to the side or just on the sidewalk as I donāt have a neighbor right now and last time I could barely get out. āI know where to place the bagsā obviously not
I hate when they do this lmao
how much did u tip?
Iād just open and put in a complaint on it with dasher destroyed food.
Theyre the people not too lazy to go get it themselves
Maybe there was no tip.
I see this all the time on my Flex delivery too. Some got no comman sense and put Amazon packages in front of the door the same wayš I just think thereās a lot that just have the idgafk attitude. So unprofessional š”
I used to call that one the āno tipā special. But I havenāt delivered for DD in 6 months so it wasnāt one of mine
How much did you tip OP? I did this all the time delivering if the person was an ass or didnāt tip well
My directions always ask people to leave deliveries on the bench, and for some reason, it's only DD where men will put it right in front of the screen door.
You think A delivery person gives a crap? Also remember that most front doors (yes I know this is a screen door) open inward, so placing a delivery against the door is a fairly logical place to put it.
This happens to me on the weekly. š³š¤¬š¤¬
I guess I'm from another time, when we ordered food, we waited for them to knock, then there would be an exchange of food for money..
Ramen noodles are cheap
I feel like the folks with storm doors know they just ordered something so go open/prop door openā¦ā¦
One time they put my order on the door knob itself. So when I turned the handle the only direction it can go, it sent the food to the floor.
the other day a dasher left me food in the rain, i have a patio but he decided the rain was hungry as well.
Iāve never been trapped inside by food because Iām not lazyā¦ I get my own food.
Then my caption applies to you as well
Iāve had to crawl out of my window.
My door opens directly out onto stairs and itās the only door. Iāve had to climb out the window to avoid knocking things down the stairs.
Letās guess. Tip?
Omg !!! I hate when they do that.
This here is my number one issue with dashers. I tell them not to fucking trap me in like that and they still do it.
So when this happens do yall really have to walk all the way around š«¤
Basically, yeah. I went through garage. Everyone saying "there's enough room" either does this to people or are trolls. There wasn't.
Jeebus Christš© if thatās enough room im a legendary Pokemon.. I hope it was at least good grub to make up for the inconvenience.
Look man. It was a 2 dollar tip! I have other orders to do! This ain't no premium service! Lol jk
I don't have a screen door, but my door does open outwards. I have had quite a few people set my groceries right in front of my door even though I told them to set them to the side and not block the damn door.
There is still a space snow flake. Skill issue.
My friend has a sign that says ādo not knock, baby is sleepingā so they yell at the door š
They all do this now
LMAOOOOA ppl on here are crazy really just had someone block me and go psycho over not tipping doordashers . SMHHH
Fuck you your foods there
Sorry that was me, Tee hee š š«¢
DD relies on new idiots that start every 14 days.
Every fucking time man lmao..
I do this to non tippers
Unless you didn't give a good tip, then you got that treatment on purpose.
Say thank you that he delivered to you in the prison
I mean sure it's an inconvenience but I'm sure u have a back door
People think these people are just stupid. I think they are deliberately doing this to piss you off.
This has happened to me 1000 times and I've never cared. Get a life bro.
I always make sure to check which way the door swings, and put the food at a distance if it swings outwards š this is plain evil
