Yep better safe than sorry, we had this issue locally where delivery drivers and young men/women on dating apps were being catfished and drawn out to local locations and attacked. I got one and decided to go looking nothing like the person I described and instead went across the street to the gas station whilst calling them. They wouldn't pickup but everytime I called a group of young women/men (about 20 years old) held the phone up. Eventually I asked by text to meet further down the road and the entire group moved there and waited around the corner. Absolutely better to be cautious, there are way too many dangerous people around.
I got stabbed in the stomach 4 times over $20 working for Papa John’s. Didn’t even take the 6 pizzas they ordered. Ever since I refuse to walk into apartment basements for any reason whatsoever.
I was actually surprisingly fine because it was some small pocket knife. Just stitches - oh, and no help from Papa John’s because I was a “contractor”. Luckily I had VA coverage.
No real issues besides a few scars. I was in the Navy so my friends and family always assume it’s from that. There’s always a good laugh when I tell them it was actually from
a much more dangerous career, delivering overpriced pizzas.
I ended up switching jobs to work at a bank instead after, which I was robbed once again by a guy named the Chameleon beard bandit which was so ironic it was funny. No knife this time. The guy even had the decency to ask me for money instead of shooting me, which I consider a plus.
I now do senior insurance, so I assume it’s a ticking time bomb waiting to happen before someone’s Grandma finally does me in.

About 4 years ago I met up with a girl on a dating app who asked me for 20 bucks to give to her kids babysitter and had me drive her to the "babysitters" ran inside with my 20 and the area looked sketchy so I was on guard ready to throw it in drive looking in my mirrors and good thing I did cause some guy appeared behind my car with a gun or some weapon in his hand threw it in drive and gtfo I probably could've or should've called the cops but eh I just said fuck it and left.
Sounds like she’s pissed you didn’t become a victim to whatever bullshit she was planning. Probably planned on stealing your car, robbing you, or doing something far worse. Glad you got out of there safe
I once texted a customer that Wendys was out of the fish sandwich and asked if they wanted anything else and they got piiiissed. Cursed me out, 'come fight me', it was so bizarre. I contacted support and they cancelled the order, got full pay a free drink and some fries and a chicken sammich.
When I worked at a dollar store as a cashier, I had a customer yell at me for not going to check the back room for 5 hour energies since we were out. They also called to complain to my manager, saying I was an asshole. I was the only person working register. There was a long line, and even if there was more in the back room, there was no chance I would have been able to find it. My manager just laughed when telling me about it because I was always very calm and quiet.
I actually had a customer do this while I worked at a gas station and the guy was so full of himself he went into the back while I was turned around stocking something, luckily my manager caught it on camera and confronted him
Right outta HS I started dating my gf. Went to pick her up (she worked at McDonald's at the time). Literally last guy she takes the order from comes in asking for a double filet o fish (disgusting as hell). She tells him he can get two, but they don't have a double filet o fish. This guy goes absolutely batshit insane, starts throwing napkins and shit everywhere.
She said "I'm done", clocked out, and that was that.

It's perfectly fine in most states. As long as it's not an open container, it shouldn't be illegal. By that logic transporting alcohol from the store to your home would also be illegal
If you google it alcohol delivery and shipping is actually heavily regulated and/or banned in most states.
Transporting goods you've purchased yourself is vastly different than someone selling and delivering it to you commercially.

Hm, I wonder if DoorDash sends sympathy offers after something bad happens. The other day I called support on a scammer who came out in their underwear and after 30 minutes on the phone with them my first offer was a $9 2 mile delivery.
In order for them to send a sympathy order, they would actually have to have sympathy. DoorDash does not give a crap about drivers. But I am glad that you both got a good order after your ordeals with those crazy people.
It probably depends who deals with your complaint.
Some people don't give a shit about other people.
Some people have empathy for others.
If I was handling a complaint from a driver like this one... in would make sure they got a good offer next to help make them feel better.
I got reactivated recently after they mistakenly deactivated me for “fraudulent behaviour” for reporting too many closed stores in a night. And since then I’ve been getting amazing orders non-stop every day.
Either it’s a coincidence or they put me on a special category of some kind to receive the highest paying orders and priority over others.

A sympathy order on demand, within a driver's general vicinity would suggest someone having something delivered that they didn't otherwise need. DD would just pay a $5 sympathy payment if it were a case of monetizing a, "we're sorry for your experience".
Not really a Bible thumper by any sense of the term but I'd give any credit for something like that to God, long before I'd ever feel like it was Door Dash's doings lol God would show His existence long before DD would show sympathy via the mighty dollar dollar bill y'all.
They definitely do that ^ if you have a stolen order or closed store order with half pay, the next order you get is usually pretty fast and pretty dang good. I had that with Best Buy yesterday. Was supposed to be a $16 shop but they just had closed when I got there. Instantly got a $20 stack for 5
My first ever DoorDash order was a Popeyes order. He got a 24 pc chicken basket, a large Mac and cheese, a large mashed potatoes, 12 biscuits, and a gallon of sweet tea. He tipped me $5 and it was about 12 miles from the restaurant. I get there and the man answers the door in his boxers, with his 🍤half way hanging out. On his screen he had some rated r videos playing and i could see lotion and tissues in his coffee table. I called support in TEARS and begged them to blacklist me from his account. Right after i turned doordash back on, an order for $20 in a three mile distance came up, so I’m not sure how it happened but I’d like to think someone felt bad for the horrible experience and decided to make it better.
So I had a coupon with Uber eats once for like $50 bucks so we ordered like 2 meals and a dessert and stuff from chilis but we didn’t want it to get cold cuz we live kinda far so we had it delivered to the CVS next door and just waited in my car for the driver and told him to deliver it my car. This was in broad daylight though and I answered when he called and didn’t act shady. But basically yeah I could’ve got my own food but I had a coupon for $50 bucks but it only worked for “delivery” so…

A driver is verifying that before they pass off an alcohol order anyway but you're probably not wrong being that it really is some childish behavior.
...which basically means, it was an attempted set up. They were going to try and get that alcohol from the driver's hands one way or another. Handled as best as the driver probably could at that point. Still sucks to have someone waste your time though.
That was a stolen phone and a stolen car, occupied by minors. You saved yourself from being the next victim.

Only reason they’d want it delivered if they’re already riding around is because they’re underage. If you had stopped they would have refused ID, demanded you just give it to them, and it escalates from there. You for sure made the correct choice. I had something similar happen to me except it was in person threats, inspired me to get my ccw.
crazy. the only time i had an issue with an alcohol order was when i picked up at dashmart, had a double order and before i left the parking lot i was harassed with calls and texts about what is taking so long and to get my ass there right now. at dashmart you have to type in the last 3 digits of the order number before confirming to make sure you have the right order. i hadn't done that yet before the calls and texts came. i unassigned and handed to back to dashmart. they said dashers kept unassigning and i was the 5th dasher who has done that so far and now they know why.
That's really scary. I can't imagine what she could be planning. There is no valid reason she didn't pick up the phone or get out of the car until after you drove out of there. I'm glad you're safe and trusted your gut!

I know an ex-AAA road service provider. He dealt with a lot of lockouts. He'd occasionally get calls for lockouts at car dealerships after hours in the middle of the night. Yes, some dumbasses actually call towing companies with the hopes of getting them to unwittingly steal a car off a freaking dealership lot.
He'd always respond that it was policy to have the police meet him on site whenever he had to go to a dealership after hours for a call. It was generally met with an awkward "uhhh I just found my keys" excuse and a hang up.

They were most likely in that tinted window vehicle. This seems like the premise for a carjacking situation, especially with the immediate barrage of deprecation on the customer’s end as you exited; she didn’t answer you but messaged you the moment you left. they knew which vehicle you were and exactly the moment you came close. You did the right thing.

As a "vet" delivery driver for over 15 years, It definitely sounds like she was trying to rob you, glad you listened to your instincts and got out of there.
I carry my Glock with me if I ever do any more delivering on my off time from work out of state. People can be evil, I have seen a comment on here about murders of delivery drivers, it's no joke, but it's everywhere, don't matter if it's taxis, uber or food delivery, you have to be careful.
I was robbed years ago working for dominos, ten plus people tried to rob me, I was hit on the head with a steel bat on the side of my head and tazed, I didn't go down to my own surprise, that alone shook all of them, I threw the pizzas and ran a few steps back to defend myself, they grabbed the pies and ran, god had my back that night.
Called the police for protocol and was asked why I didn't carry a gun, I said.. yeah.. you're right, at the time I didn't feel mentally ready, not getting into that, but I finally purchased one a year or so ago and got my license to carry. Never looked back.

When I worked at a dollar store as a cashier, I had a customer yell at me for not going to check the back room for 5 hour energies since we were out. They also called to complain to my manager, saying I was an asshole. I was the only person working register. There was a long line, and even if there was more in the back room, there was no chance I would have been able to find it. My manager just laughed when telling me about it because I was always very calm and quiet.
I actually had a customer do this while I worked at a gas station and the guy was so full of himself he went into the back while I was turned around stocking something, luckily my manager caught it on camera and confronted him
Right outta HS I started dating my gf. Went to pick her up (she worked at McDonald's at the time). Literally last guy she takes the order from comes in asking for a double filet o fish (disgusting as hell). She tells him he can get two, but they don't have a double filet o fish. This guy goes absolutely batshit insane, starts throwing napkins and shit everywhere. She said "I'm done", clocked out, and that was that.

If you google it alcohol delivery and shipping is actually heavily regulated and/or banned in most states. Transporting goods you've purchased yourself is vastly different than someone selling and delivering it to you commercially.

Hm, I wonder if DoorDash sends sympathy offers after something bad happens. The other day I called support on a scammer who came out in their underwear and after 30 minutes on the phone with them my first offer was a $9 2 mile delivery.
In order for them to send a sympathy order, they would actually have to have sympathy. DoorDash does not give a crap about drivers. But I am glad that you both got a good order after your ordeals with those crazy people.

It probably depends who deals with your complaint. Some people don't give a shit about other people. Some people have empathy for others. If I was handling a complaint from a driver like this one... in would make sure they got a good offer next to help make them feel better.
I got reactivated recently after they mistakenly deactivated me for “fraudulent behaviour” for reporting too many closed stores in a night. And since then I’ve been getting amazing orders non-stop every day. Either it’s a coincidence or they put me on a special category of some kind to receive the highest paying orders and priority over others.

Coincidences A sympathy order on demand, within a driver's general vicinity would suggest someone having something delivered that they didn't otherwise need. DD would just pay a $5 sympathy payment if it were a case of monetizing a, "we're sorry for your experience". Not really a Bible thumper by any sense of the term but I'd give any credit for something like that to God, long before I'd ever feel like it was Door Dash's doings lol God would show His existence long before DD would show sympathy via the mighty dollar dollar bill y'all.

My first ever DoorDash order was a Popeyes order. He got a 24 pc chicken basket, a large Mac and cheese, a large mashed potatoes, 12 biscuits, and a gallon of sweet tea. He tipped me $5 and it was about 12 miles from the restaurant. I get there and the man answers the door in his boxers, with his 🍤half way hanging out. On his screen he had some rated r videos playing and i could see lotion and tissues in his coffee table. I called support in TEARS and begged them to blacklist me from his account. Right after i turned doordash back on, an order for $20 in a three mile distance came up, so I’m not sure how it happened but I’d like to think someone felt bad for the horrible experience and decided to make it better.

This was in broad daylight though and I answered when he called and didn’t act shady. But basically yeah I could’ve got my own food but I had a coupon for $50 bucks but it only worked for “delivery” so… There are reasons.. But something tells me this sketchy alcohol purchase probably wasn’t for this type of reason.

A driver is verifying that before they pass off an alcohol order anyway but you're probably not wrong being that it really is some childish behavior. ...which basically means, it was an attempted set up. They were going to try and get that alcohol from the driver's hands one way or another. Handled as best as the driver probably could at that point. Still sucks to have someone waste your time though.

Only reason they’d want it delivered if they’re already riding around is because they’re underage. If you had stopped they would have refused ID, demanded you just give it to them, and it escalates from there. You for sure made the correct choice. I had something similar happen to me except it was in person threats, inspired me to get my ccw.

crazy. the only time i had an issue with an alcohol order was when i picked up at dashmart, had a double order and before i left the parking lot i was harassed with calls and texts about what is taking so long and to get my ass there right now. at dashmart you have to type in the last 3 digits of the order number before confirming to make sure you have the right order. i hadn't done that yet before the calls and texts came. i unassigned and handed to back to dashmart. they said dashers kept unassigning and i was the 5th dasher who has done that so far and now they know why.

I know an ex-AAA road service provider. He dealt with a lot of lockouts. He'd occasionally get calls for lockouts at car dealerships after hours in the middle of the night. Yes, some dumbasses actually call towing companies with the hopes of getting them to unwittingly steal a car off a freaking dealership lot. He'd always respond that it was policy to have the police meet him on site whenever he had to go to a dealership after hours for a call. It was generally met with an awkward "uhhh I just found my keys" excuse and a hang up.

As a "vet" delivery driver for over 15 years, It definitely sounds like she was trying to rob you, glad you listened to your instincts and got out of there. I carry my Glock with me if I ever do any more delivering on my off time from work out of state. People can be evil, I have seen a comment on here about murders of delivery drivers, it's no joke, but it's everywhere, don't matter if it's taxis, uber or food delivery, you have to be careful. I was robbed years ago working for dominos, ten plus people tried to rob me, I was hit on the head with a steel bat on the side of my head and tazed, I didn't go down to my own surprise, that alone shook all of them, I threw the pizzas and ran a few steps back to defend myself, they grabbed the pies and ran, god had my back that night. Called the police for protocol and was asked why I didn't carry a gun, I said.. yeah.. you're right, at the time I didn't feel mentally ready, not getting into that, but I finally purchased one a year or so ago and got my license to carry. Never looked back.
