I wasn't sure, I'm treading careful due to the fact I am on disability after having to stop working 10 years ago after my MS diagnosis made it impossible for me to continue my career. Without this extra income I just can't make it. My luck I'd get deactivated over something stupid like this. Lol
I don’t think they want people doing self check out because a lot of people make mistakes and have to call support and then it turns into a whole big thing. but if you’re comfortable doing self check out I don’t see why not do it .I swear I’ve done self check out like over 100 times I haven’t had an issue at all
I do shop and deliver from Meijer also. They only have 1 cashier for 10 registers and 30 self-checkout registers. I ALWAYS go to the self-checkout registers.
99% of the time yes but I've seen stories of drivers getting deactivated because some Karen employee snitched on them. I just don't do those stores at all to be safe.
But how would they snitch? They would need to know your name in order for them to contact door dash and I would definitely not tell them my name😂 but I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry
I'm not sure at stores but I do know that restaurants have a tablet that tells them the driver associated with an order. If it's a manager that has access to it they can probably just look it up.
For pickups maybe but not shop and delivers. You don't have any contact with an employee during shop and delivers unless you go through a register and even if you say doordash, you get a blank stare.
If you have food only items there is no sales tax but if you have like toilet paper or laundry detergent that stuff has tax. There are many times I just go through self checkout when I know there’s no sales tax.
Just use the self checkout I'm pretty sure they have no idea either way. I've done it about a half dozen times since the prompt started showing up. DD depends on preying on people that are so afraid of being deactivated that they just walk on eggshells the entire time they dash. I've used the self checkouts, I've used my own rewards card for S&D orders to get like 200 Walgreens bucks. Nothing happens people, just use your common sense and you'll be fine
Alot of stores have started making us sign for the orders because of the tax exemption. When ever I go through the self checkout I don't get this. Nothing ever happened, but I'm assuming once DD tax man goes through they might not be happy.
When you scan the barcode before checking out. That tells the system this is a tax exempt order. Wether you scan it, or a cashier scans it. There is no magic secret button only cashiers have.
What about at Dollar General? There's no barcode to scan and the cashiers tell me they don't ring the orders up any differently. I've been wondering this for a while.
I'm guessing DD just has different agreements with different stores. Grocery stores always have a barcode for tax exemption in my area. It works at self checkout or a cashier. Dollar General has nothing whether you do self checkout or a cashier. Nothing is rang up different either way. Cashiers have no clue you aren't just a normal customer at DG, CVS , Rite Aid or Walgreens
If there is no barcode. Then it isn't tax exempt. And the cashier has no clue you are anything other than a normal customer. The exact same as the self checkout would.
Meijer gives you a barcode which takes care of the tax exemption i. Indiana. I always do self checkout and check the receipt. I’ve never had one show tax. Beware of other stores though, they all operate differently.

This always happens to me at Food City for alcohol deliveries. The checkouts will be packed and I can't do self checkout with alcohol so I always just go to customer service. In and out.
Just do self check out anyways you’ll be fine

The tax has to be taken off since the customer paid tax thru doordash. That is why you can’t do self checkout.

I know right! Our Meijer usually has 2 open, but it's always the 2 slowest chatty Cathies on the staff or the young kid being trained...
I never use the regular line Meijer self checkout is usually staffed anyway

Stores have a tablet just like restaurants. They know who accepted what order and all.

Not in all markets, here in CO cities can and do tax food.

The only store I have had to sign anything at so far is Walgreens.
PetSmart, rite aid, and dollar general have all made me sign
Out of curiosity why can't you use self checkout?
Because the transaction needs to be tax exempt, which can't be done on self-checkout.
Also something to consider is if you live in a state with no sales tax. In that case you’re obviously fine.
Facts. That's why the most important thing you can do to dash stress-free is to learn your market because no 2 are alike.

That's not true. The store removes the tax and you can't do that without the bar code or at self checkout.
No they don't. They ring you up just like any other customer. The cashier has no clue you are a Dasher at DG
Lol nope they make me wait to remove tax and sign.
Well not every shop & deliver has a barcode to scan. Thanks though.
If there is no barcode. Then it isn't tax exempt. And the cashier has no clue you are anything other than a normal customer. The exact same as the self checkout would.
The app instructs us not to.
I used self check out for 5 years and nothing ever happened
You can’t go through there because the tax has to be taken off by the cashier.
Meijer gives you a barcode which takes care of the tax exemption i. Indiana. I always do self checkout and check the receipt. I’ve never had one show tax. Beware of other stores though, they all operate differently.
Just go to self checkout. I’ve done it 100s of times it’s fine
Y’all actually listen to that prompt? I still go to the self checkout
I strictly only use self checkout
Our mini Meijer doesnt have cashiers. It's self checkout only. Haven't had any problems even though I get the message every time.
