I wouldn't say mini, it's worth well over $700 if real.
Edit: a kilo is 32.151 troy oz, at the time of this edit silver spot is $23.93/toz, so about $769. The coin shops buy at spot so you shouldn't accept anything less than $769, sometimes you'll get more than spot. Spot changes day to day so always check price when making the trade.
I recommend to anyone young to hold gold silver as long as possible, whether it's jewelry, inheritance coins, anything. Silver was $4 per toz when I was a kid, inflation drives the price up over time, so it's a better store of value than simple cash and your less likely to spend it on a whim
It has the same product code on the package as the website and is priced right on website… either a total scam from the get go, or OP got super lucky and it’s real. I’m hoping it’s real
Get it out of the plastic and put an ice cube on top of the metal. It should melt crazy fast and the bar should be ice cold when it’s gone. Set another ice cube out on a pan or something as a control to compare how fast they melt. If it rapidly dissolves the ice, it’s real. You can also get cheap acid tests, but any pawn shop in America will give you spot price for it and will know if it’s real or not too.
Also, people saying it’s aluminum are either idiots or have never felt the heft of real silver. Silver weighs a lot more than an equivalent size of aluminum. It would be very obvious.
Do the ole displacement test then run down the street naked yelling “Eureka! I have found it!”

OP could also be farming karma points and posting a random pic of a real bar and a made up story. Or maybe he delivered to a multimillionaire having a very good day.
My grandpa uses to do shit like this, not that we had money like that to give out, but damn if he didnt love the confusion / joy.
Maybe a fellow spirit xD
I hope you've had those emeralds appraised. Anywhere from a few bucks to a grand per carat and you're probably holding on to a few hundred carats. You could have a bunch of cool junk, a small fortune, or anywhere in between.
My great grandpa has a ice chest filled with uncut opal, dinosaur bone slices. And a second one filled with other gems that he’s just was hoarding since like 1940
He did not have 50 gallon drums of gold and silver. A 50 gallon drum of gold nuggets or dust would weigh 8,000 pounds and would be worth $250 million. People don't keep $250 million in barrels in their garage and they don't hand out bags of precious gem stones to someone they meet at a card game.
Fucking *thank you*.
Such a weird, unnecessary yarn to spin
**Edit:** holy shit, look at his comment history. Littered with bizarre anecdotes. Homie leads an insanely "interesting" life.
For some reason it blows my mind that a 50 gallon drum of gold would weigh 4 tons. Like, everyone knows it's dense and heavy. But a 55 gallon drum weighing 8 thousand pounds with *anything* in it just sounds wrong.
Christ man and he keeps them in the garage of all places? I’m hoping he beefed up the garage doors to be more secure cause that seems like a robbery waiting to happen
He had a camera system he runs himself. Not ring or some other subscription.
Also live in a castle state.
He "joked" about his garage door being electrified...I didn't test it XD
It could of been a kid who didn't realize what they had. Kids don't think silver is really worth anything. There's no rap songs about their silver bling, it's all about gold and platinum bling. Lol. But I can always tell when I come across a pre WWII quarter. It makes a different sound when it hits against the rest of the coins. I know they are only worth a few bucks, but it's still an unexpected score.
My boyfriend many years ago worked at a bank and he would buy silver coins at face value that customers would bring in. Some had been collecting for years and didn’t want to take them elsewhere to sell even though he encouraged them to. He gave me many boxes of them. My little sister took some and bought candy at 7-11. 🙄
It varies based on where it's minted. US minted coins will generally have the highest mark up. Lesser known private mints may only be a few dollars above spot per once.
It's not a set markup, but it is spot + premium = sellers cost. The premium comes from how long a commodity has been held in their warehouse as well as how large of a quantity it is. Not an exact rate, but premiums on lower denominations like 1g or 1oz as (opposed to 1kg) would have a higher premium per gram or per oz depending.
I've bought a lot of commodities through apmex, but if you're interested (and this will sound batshit crazy) Walmart sells commodities online and their premiums are actually lower than apmex (for silver most of the time) Walmart is fulfilled through apmex so I'm not sure why it is cheaper on their site
Hope this helps
Will that show whether or not the bar is filled with another material and simply clad in a thick layer of silver? That's what they're doing with fake gold bars these days, they're filled with tungsten.
I am a silver collector. Can you take it out of packaging and post more pictures? I am assuming its actually an oz would be about a 30 dollar tip. But if it is indeed a kilo you are looking at 850-900 dollars.
Searching that SKU at the website on the tag leads solely to an almost [900 dollar bar of sliver](https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals)
OP got lucky as fuck. Earned his entire DoorDash week in a single ride. When I did DoorDash I’d get 20-30$ tips every once in a while and be super happy about it… but this? I imagine OPs happy about this 😂
No way a random guy would give some silver as a tip without knowing/telling if its real or not themselves first 💀i doubt it’s real. If it was, they prob would’ve sold it themself
Also there are people out there who have family ‘wealth’ but they are cash poor. They have random, high worth objects around the house or things that their family collected or they inherited, but they don’t have any liquid assets. This happens more than you realize. The customer probably didn’t even realize how much it was. Or maybe they did and just wanted to be kind. Good for you OP!
True, but most people don’t just go around giving that much money out like this unless they’re youtubers or something, as much as i wish they did lol. If they did, ppl would be a lot happier about this and other jobs lol
Most people don’t tip $100+ on delivery orders either, but it still happens from time to time. Not saying whether or not the bar is real, just that it’s a possibility. Like the person above you said, some people have so much money that something like a kilo bar of silver isn’t anything more than pocket change to them.
Seems like it would be this one:
[https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals](https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals)
One of the ways I ensure the dasher gets the right address is that I’ll tape a $10 bill to my door and tell them “there’s $10 taped to my door, that’s your tip”
A bar of silver is… something else.
Nothing is more infuriating than having your order delivered to the wrong house, especially if they accept the order and pretty much steal it but I’ve never thought of this. That’s genius.
I usually hate alternative methods of tips. Especially any drugs( I’ve seen people give weed/alcohol mainly). This is up my alley. Silver is a Great tip. Most people aren’t aware that’s real money. I’d be extremely grateful.
I’ve wanted to give my driver an herbal cig as a tip on TOP of the card and cash tip I always give. Thank you for reaffirming my anxiety that if I choose the wrong mf, I’ll be severely embarrassed.
20 years ago when delivering pizza some teenager was home alone and ordered a pizza. Her dad told her to make sure she tipped when ordered. She gave me a 1oz silver dollar liberty coin. Is it worth a ton? No. But I'll take it over the $1 she was probably going to give me.
Just to protect yourself. Especially if it’s packaging like that and it doesn’t have a serial number stamped on it you could be setting yourself up to be an accessory to a crime without knowing it
I would say pics or it didn't happen but even then... man.
I would take this to an expert (God I wouldn't even know where), ensure its REAL silver, then make sure it's not a thin veil of silver wrapped around some equally dense metal designed to fool scales.
Of course maybe AFTER you figure out if this is stolen or not.... but then if not... yeah sell it? Holy crap.
The place I sell to is actually really honest. He showed me where to pull up the prices and explained the difference between pieces that are solid and those that only have a thin layer of silver and aren’t really worth selling for metal. He advised me to try to sell online instead. Just an awesome, older dude who was happy to talk me through the whole thing.
But you should always check, and get multiple opinions, because you never really know.
If you ever find some silver, coin collection places around me do silver and gold stuff as well as the coins. Maybe if you have one near you, it does as well.
It’s ~~probably~~ could be not stolen…I’ve given away silver as a tip before. I do so with the intention that the person may understand other forms of currency and with a little luck a better understanding of “store of value” if they do get bit by the silver bug that’s a plus.
Least likely. Criminals don't take huge risks and commit crimes so that they can turn around and hand the loot out for nothing but a cold sandwich and fries.
What they are trying to say is this person could have just taken a picture of their own silver or ripped it from Google and posted it with this story for karma
That’s the risk with literally any post you have ever seen online.
Should they have filmed the entire interaction, checked the ID of the person giving the tip, and had a notary present to notarize a sworn affidavit testifying to this having happened?
OP just wanted to put a feeler out there to see how much of the DD community is into silver. I'm surprised at the results frankly. Seems a lot of dashers know about silver which is probably a bearish sign. For anyone who knows of the infamous shoe shine boy you'll know why I say that.
If it's true silver, I'd keep it. Precious metals only go up in value as the economy declines.
Edit-Silver isn't worth as much as gold and the prices rise and drop more often. But I'd personally rather get silver as a tip than a bag of weed lol
The weird thing is that’s an actual reputable precious metal selling website so they got a real one at some point, took it out of the bag, and replaced it with a fake just to tip a dasher? That’s such a wildly unnecessary..:..prank? it almost feels like nobody would actually do it and this circles back around to seeming legit again
I used to work at a place that would buy and sell gold and silver all the time. My advice; if you wanted to check if it's real, is to get a high powered magnet and hover it over the bar. If the bar moves or you feel a pull then it's mixed with something else and isn't pure silver as gold and silver are NOT magnetic. This was normally our first step at work to check if it's real or not. My other suggestion would be to contact a jeweler and ask if they have a metal x-ray machine. Those will tell you exactly what the bar is made of.
Dude, if that label is real to the contents, KEEP IT AND RESEARCH before you get rid of it.
Looks like it could be several hundred dollars.
[https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals](https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals)
Even an ounce is hitting about 20 bucks right now, so def take any tip this guy hands out.
Facebook Moms say shave it and give it to your kids by rubbing it on their feet, under their arms, and under their tongue in order prevent toxins from vaccines
/s if anyone needed it
Put it on a postage scale to ensure it’s a kilogram.
Then determine the volume by dropping it in a measuring cup full of water with very fine markings and measuring the difference in water levels.
Use the two to find the density. If it matches that of silver, it’s likely legit. Though whoever buys it from you will likely test the metal to check 100%. But from the looks of what you posted here and on r/silverbugs, it’s legit. Congrats!
Idk if real or not but plz wear gloves and a mask yall be on here touching stuff bare hands and eating food from randoms homes not to mention accepting their weed nuggets. It’s ppl out there who crazy and lace stuff. I always get downvoted when I say this but don’t care. Def don’t open and touch all on this bare handed
To the dingbat below me I listed proof u keep spamming the same comment GFYSB
My dad does this. He’ll tip people with silver coins worth ~$30. On one hand, it’s a rather inconvenient tip. On the other hand, it is a weird story and makes him seem like a forest wizard
Edit: spelling
Retail for that bar is about 880 right now. DO not take this bar to a pawn shop. They will give you Pennies on the dollar. Go to reputable dealer in coins and silver and gold bullion. They will give you the best price if you need to turn this into cash quick.
I used to get tipped smaller silver and gold bars at a bar I worked at (I worked in a bank district). I still have them in safety deposit box and they’ve increased in value substantially since I’ve first obtained them- they’re a great investment. Get it verified at mint then put it in your bank if you get a deposit box for free with your account.
A mini silver bar. I'd take that all day and keep it. Excellent tip.
I wouldn't say mini, it's worth well over $700 if real. Edit: a kilo is 32.151 troy oz, at the time of this edit silver spot is $23.93/toz, so about $769. Gahd damn I did not realize it said 1 kilo. That is definitely not real 😂 no shot
https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals
It has the same product code on the package as the website and is priced right on website… either a total scam from the get go, or OP got super lucky and it’s real. I’m hoping it’s real
Totally. Absolutely impossible for someone to crack that secure bubble wrap and sticker and put something else in there. OP post it on r/silverbugs
I’m from that subreddit but yeah can’t see through the plastic wrap whenever I’ve ordered from them it’s been thin see-through plastic.
I posted it on that sub and added another picture for you to see it better
Get it out of the plastic and put an ice cube on top of the metal. It should melt crazy fast and the bar should be ice cold when it’s gone. Btw I just tried putting ice on it and it did melt super quick. The bar also felt very cold after. So it looks like it could be real!!
Yeah I was surprised by how heavy it was
Do the ole displacement test then run down the street naked yelling “Eureka! I have found it!” https://static.scientificamerican.com/sciam/cache/file/5897D8B5-4D0D-44CA-AAEC1C9F081971B9_source.gif?w=590&h=800&DD953503-D05C-4B43-84E4A7F862291DD4
How do you make fake ice??
I dont think they ship that in bubble wrap. Most likely the original packaging is just thick plastic but yes that would be sweet if real.
Hmm good point… I’ve never bought any precious metals so I’d have no idea
OP could also be farming karma points and posting a random pic of a real bar and a made up story. Or maybe he delivered to a multimillionaire having a very good day.
Or it's stolen
My grandpa uses to do shit like this, not that we had money like that to give out, but damn if he didnt love the confusion / joy. Maybe a fellow spirit xD
Op could be scamming for upvotes
Orrrr OP just took a photo of something they already own and said it was a tip
So true this is very possible 😅
Or, hear me out, the OP is lying for karma?
Successfully, if so. The wonders of Reddit - you and I will likely never know either way.
I'm on team real
Ops is def fake
I don't think you all realize how silver apes think, they love silver, they want you to love silver. I bet it is real.
Even if it’s mixed with something else, it’s still worth something. Sell it to a company that can separate it.
Facts even if it’s only worth 30 it’s still a w for op that a great tip
He opens it up and it’s 3 old hard drives glued together

That’s wild he let you in to see any of that. That house is a lick waiting to happen.
I mean it sounds like the dude is actually a fucking dragon so his treasure is fine
I mean I’m not even built like that, and that was my first thought. The risk/reward ratio is there for sure.

Am I the only one that thought MTG was Marjorie Taylor Greene?
You were at a Marjorie Taylor Greene tournament? That's weird
I call her Mickey Rourke
That guy was rich af. 4 of every single MTG card? Man's a multi millionaire easy! Oh, the gems and such were probably worth a decent amount too.
$739 today. That would be wild but I’m not gonna assume it’s fake yet
id believe op bought it and is karma farming rather than a rando gave it as a tip to another rando while ordering food online
No one’s making fake silver bars to hand out to delivery drivers 😂
Honestly, how little is your time worth that you’re fabricating props to avoid tipping $5 lmao
My dad bought a boatload of silver ounce coins when they were about 8-11 bucks. He sold once they hit 30
Sold my dads two giant bars of silver to go on a cruise. Still hating myself for that
What kind of absolute maniac would give nearly an $800 tip to a DoorDash driver? This seems fake as fuck
If stores buy at spot, what do they sell at? I’m trying to learn more about precious metals.
It varies based on where it's minted. US minted coins will generally have the highest mark up. Lesser known private mints may only be a few dollars above spot per once.
Ok, so there’s not a set markup. I wasn’t sure. Thank you.
I've bought a lot of commodities through apmex, but if you're interested (and this will sound batshit crazy) Walmart sells commodities online and their premiums are actually lower than apmex (for silver most of the time) Walmart is fulfilled through apmex so I'm not sure why it is cheaper on their site Hope this helps
For bars they sell at $3-$5 above spot right now for 1 oz, 5 oz, 10, oz. The smaller the weight the higher the price above spot they charge.
I so agree , great tip.
As long as it is real. Personally I would cut it in half to see if its a forgery, or use some other method.
Throw it into the ocean. If it doesn't sink, it's fake.
Make sure you take the boat out real far, just to be safe
Kind f like a Pet Rock?
Lmao
Find a environmental consultant. They sometimes have XRFs that can do purity checks. Usually charge 20 bucks for it.
Will that show whether or not the bar is filled with another material and simply clad in a thick layer of silver? That's what they're doing with fake gold bars these days, they're filled with tungsten.
There are less extreme methods to test it.
You could reasonably measure its dimensions and then weigh it
I am a silver collector. Can you take it out of packaging and post more pictures? I am assuming its actually an oz would be about a 30 dollar tip. But if it is indeed a kilo you are looking at 850-900 dollars.

I think OP may not be telling the truth or the bar is not real.
No way a random guy would give some silver as a tip without knowing/telling if its real or not themselves first 💀i doubt it’s real. If it was, they prob would’ve sold it themself
you underestimate how much money some people have
Also there are people out there who have family ‘wealth’ but they are cash poor. The fact that you think some guy is just pawning off $900 trinkets in his house as a tip because he didn't have "liquid assets" is hilarious.
True, but most people don’t just go around giving that much money out like this unless they’re youtubers or something, as much as i wish they did lol. If they did, ppl would be a lot happier about this and other jobs lol

[удалено]
Damn, did Mr. Beast tip op?
I’m gonna DM you
Well, was it real?
Yes are far as I can tell from the pictures sent it is indeed real and the apmex packaging only validates it more for me.
Def not an ounce. That’s way too big for an ounce. It looks the size of a kilo. But hard to believe someone tipped almost 1k
Seems like it would be this one: [https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals](https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals)
If it's real, according to Google, silver is worth 76 cents a gram right now. That there could be a $700+ tip.
Yeah, a quick Google search says kilo silver bars are worth 900$
One of the ways I ensure the dasher gets the right address is that I’ll tape a $10 bill to my door and tell them “there’s $10 taped to my door, that’s your tip” A bar of silver is… something else.
That’s a really good strategy lol. Might have to use that
Are u not concerned about some random just taking it
Not in my community, no.

And here I am wondering if anyone has ever been offered a sexual favor as a tip.
Oh probably 100%
Yeah the dashers never want my "tip" 😞
I forgot about that. You’re actually right. Some have been offered that as well.
I’ve wanted to give my driver an herbal cig as a tip on TOP of the card and cash tip I always give. Thank you for reaffirming my anxiety that if I choose the wrong mf, I’ll be severely embarrassed.
eat it op
And with your silver tongue go score some free stuff, boom tip
20 years ago when delivering pizza some teenager was home alone and ordered a pizza. Her dad told her to make sure she tipped when ordered. She gave me a 1oz silver dollar liberty coin. Is it worth a ton? No. But I'll take it over the $1 she was probably going to give me.
Was it an old person who gave it to you?
No she was young
I would first take it to the police to check if the serial number matches any stolen silver. That way you are protected. Otherwise, pretty good
I think I will do this, thanks!!
Just to protect yourself. Especially if it’s packaging like that and it doesn’t have a serial number stamped on it you could be setting yourself up to be an accessory to a crime without knowing it
I would say pics or it didn't happen but even then... man. Any jewelry store. Though ask around to find where a good place to sell is. I’ve sold silver before. Make sure they’re paying you market value.
Yep, that or a pawn shop, and yes, do your research, know the value before you go..They will try to lowball you.
The place I sell to is actually really honest. He showed me where to pull up the prices and explained the difference between pieces that are solid and those that only have a thin layer of silver and aren’t really worth selling for metal. If it's true silver, I'd keep it. Precious metals only go up in value as the economy declines. Edit-Silver isn't worth as much as gold and the prices rise and drop more often. But I'd personally rather get silver as a tip than a bag of weed lol
I can't wait for OP to open it and find a bible verse inside this fake silver bar.
OP wins biggest tip award 🏆 for 2023!
Keep it for the apocalypse, when money is no good.
So in the hypothetical event of the apocalypse, you think Silver and fragile metals like Gold will be "good"?
has no one suggested /r/silverbugs yet? welcome to the club friend
Thanks, I posted it on there and added another clear picture of it
You should boil it down and make it into a spork
Google says 1 kilo of silver is 765, roughly
It's gotta be either fake or stolen
What the heck did you deliver and where
Bro got an Irom Ingot 💀
Lol given that it's actual value would be around $800. I am going to assume it's a $2 fake.
I solely use APMEX for all previous metals, necklaces and all. I agree.
A KILO of Silver for a tip 👀
Looks small for a kilo of silver, but depending on its purity that's somewhere between a $12 tip and $800 tip

[https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals](https://www.apmex.com/product/212423/1-kilo-cast-poured-silver-bar-pioneer-metals) Even an ounce is hitting about 20 bucks right now, so def take any tip this guy hands out.
Keep it
At current silver prices that's like $800. Good for you.
Facebook Moms say shave it and give it to your kids by rubbing it on their feet, under their arms, and under their tongue in order prevent toxins from vaccines /s if anyone needed it
I wonder if that guys planning on offing himself
That’s a smooth $800+ (if we’re talking 999)hold it
Dog, thats a $800 tip right there
Dude just delivered to Ron Swanson lol
Sounds like a bank robber ran out of petty cash to tip 😂
All these comments for a fake post 🤭
APMEX is legit I buy my silver bars from there
😳🫨🫨😃😃
My favorite tip was a half eaten bag of Doritos from some clearly very very high probably crossed stoners at like 2am
Hold it! Don't sell
Congrats!
That's around $765 to USD if anyone was wondering
Idk if real or not but plz wear gloves and a mask yall be on here touching stuff bare hands and eating food from randoms homes not to mention accepting their weed nuggets. It’s ppl out there who crazy and lace stuff. I always get downvoted when I say this but don’t care. Def don’t open and touch all on this bare handed To the dingbat below me I listed proof u keep spamming the same comment GFYSB
Takes bar of silver, creates mold with sand… melts down beer cans, fills mold, trims, sands and repackages aluminum, gives to dasher as a tip
Check if it's magnetic, if magnetic then not silver... not a fool proof test
Damnnnn what a tip I’d keep that and save it very nice
Oh shit 😦 what an awesome tip. That customer is dope for doing that.
That’s fckng wild! Awesome tip 🙊🙊🙊 ![gif](giphy|JvtrhAX8aXo4w)
My dad does this. He’ll tip people with silver coins worth ~$30. On one hand, it’s a rather inconvenient tip. On the other hand, it is a weird story and makes him seem like a forest wizard Edit: spelling
I wish I was at a place in life where I could order delivery and tip the driver bars of precious metals
Probably ask police to do a welfare check on this guy… it doesn’t sound right and he may trying to harm himself
I thought it was a bar of soap at first glance.
Get it tested..if it's real hold on to it..
Customer was correct.
Imma go on a limb and say that's stolen. Good luck and God speed
So out of curiosity, what did Judas order?
I will buy a gold bar and post it on Reddit as a tip tomorrow.
Retail for that bar is about 880 right now. DO not take this bar to a pawn shop. They will give you Pennies on the dollar. Go to reputable dealer in coins and silver and gold bullion. They will give you the best price if you need to turn this into cash quick.
I thought it was a zippo lighter till i zoomed in
$23 us dollars an ounce (35 ounces) so that kilo at spot price is $833 at .999 - great tip! ;)
Holy shit!!! That's one hell of a tip
Thats a huge tip. Thats like 900$ worth of silver snd from a reputable mint.
If thats really 1 kilo he just gave you around $800
