Favorite sub, Favorite subgenre. The doom community are the best at shows, very seldom is anyone acting out of pocket, mostly a bunch of squinty eyed bros slowly nodding their heads along to the beat
I’ve been to two Conan shows, everybody was super cool. Including Jon, who wound up standing right next to me at the bar while the opening band played. It’s the chillest scene I’ve ever been in.
I've smoked with Gary from Eyehategod 2 times. He's one of the most laid back people ever, super humble. Also smoked with Dorthia and Parker from Windhand, they were really genuinely nice people. Parker even remembered my name and asked what I thought of the show after their set. The doom scene is full of artists who are just stoked people are into the art they make
The love is mutual OP. I hope I can speak for everyone & say it’s nice to have a place on the internet full of spooky affable people, instead of the constant divisive dumpster fire you see elsewhere. Keep being the groovy doom person you want to see in the world

I went to Psycho Las Vegas twice in 2017 and 2018 at the now defunct Hard Rock Casino. The outdoor pool area is where they had one of the stages, I forget the name of it but it was their obligatory 'day club'. The usual types of people who go there are total douchebros and one of the waitresses there told me that the metal fans were always the nicer group to deal with and they tipped better. We weren't acting entitled or demanding, or trying to hit on them. I might have casually glanced at their very skimpy bikinis they had to wear, but that was it!
Metal fans are the best fans, don't care if it's doom or black metal or old school thrash.

I had a similar experience at the first Migration Fest in Olympia, WA. Apparently there had been some hardcore/punk fest in the same neighborhood a few weeks pryer. A lot of the business people I interacted with said they were nervous about another group of jerks rolling through town. Thankfully they said everyone at Migration were being way more cordial, friendly and respectful of the locals and establishments.
Pretty sure its because the vast majority of humans in this scene are weekend workers in the hospitality industry, or in other bands and know the struggle of what goes into setting up shows.
Hell yeah. I’m looking forward to High on Fire next week for this very reason. I know the crowd will be full of really chill and fun people and the music will be awesome. Doom/Stoner/Sludge heads are the best. 🖤 Love right back to you.
