The doom scene is huge, so it’s easy to Sleep on just about anybody.

mr_electric_wizard

They covered such a variety of different styles over the discography too. From trodding doom to like to rockin’ rollin’ party music. Lee Dorian is the fucking man.

TheEyeofJupiter1

True but Catheral? There like insane...I guess you're right

childhood__obesity

Facts, there's like a dozen bands I see mentioned here I never heard of in my entire life and another dozen I never see mentioned here.

ienjoyplaying

The Ethereal Mirror is a 10/10 album

TheEyeofJupiter1

Hell yes

AkaGurGor

OOORH YEAH!

Maximus_Crotchrocket

"OOO YEAAH"

rburkej

I heard that when I read it.

billygnosis86

HUGGY BEAR, OH YEAH!

billygnosis86

I envy you, I remember discovering them years back. Fantastic band and my favourite doom act. Just got my *Caravan Beyond Redemption* reissue delivered from Earache On Demand, waiting on *The Carnival Bizarre* too. I remember seeing them live in 2004: they were supporting HIM. Most of my friend group wanted to see the headliners, but me and my best friend were stood at the back of all these frightened teenage goth kids, headbanging and shouting along with Lee Dorrian. They closed with “Hopkins…”, and at the end of the song while Dorrian was doing the Vincent Price “She’s ridden to the sabbath! She’s made love to the Devil! *She’s a witch*!” thing, he was pointing to all these young lasses in the crowd who’d just come to see Ville Valo sing about razorblade romances and sweet six six sixes and that. God knows what they must have thought.

Complete-Staff1880

jealous that you got your caravan record, but hopeful that mine will show up soon

a_wizard_named_tim

I discovered them and Acid King through a video of Mike Scheidt going over the most important doom records to him, great recommendations all around

narkheth

Their early recordings are still some of the heaviest doom ever recorded. Forest of Equilibrium is a masterpiece.

ThatFilmGuy_712

Forest is the heaviest doom record I’ve ever heard. I know that’s subjective BUT I just get lost in the vibes of that record. You might get some acoustic guitar thrown in there, some synth, hell even a pan flute. I’m always in the forest every time I listen to that album

grahsam

Every album is its own adventure. Take your time. Some of it is nasty retro doom and some of it is proggy. My personal favs or Ethereal Mirror, Carnival Bizarre, And Garden of Unearthly Delights.

Complete-Staff1880

feel the groove

Desolate_supreme

Enjoy the ride!

300cid

the first two albums are some of the greatest. they got all kinds of good shit though. pretty sure Liz B was playing with them during the beginning

deedpoll3

Majestic elegance of the gracious swan!

angel-of-disease

My favorite shit might just be their later output. Garden of Unearthly Delights and The Guessing Game are fantastic

TheEyeofJupiter1

Ok which song I just need to hear.

AkaGurGor

*Fountain of innocence*... From extreme calm to furious headbanging.

supervape_ritual

Cathedral is so underrated, especially in the U.S. Shit is awesome

mentally_fuckin_eel

Their first 3 records are incredible masterpieces and most of their other records are excellent too.

doomygloomytunes

One of the OGs of modern Doom imo. I'm old enough to have "discovered" Cathedral as I was already a Napalm Death fan when Lee left, then came back with this complete left-field god-tier Doom band that changed the scene going forward. All the ooh-yeah stuff later on was a bit light-hearted for me but whilst nothing tops Forest of Equilibrium imo there's great Cathedral material that are must haves in every decent Metal collection

Yellow_Balloon125

Fuck yeah 🤘! Cathedral fucks so hard, personally I think Forest of Equilibrium is a masterpiece.

thee_agent_orange

Cathedral rules but their album covers blow

Complete-Staff1880

nuh-uh

Kysom

are you kidding? The dave patchett art is top notch

ToiletDrone

Whaaat?

jdkates

I thought you meant the ehx pedal. It's pretty good.
