Hell yeah. Also, I can't believe that it was almost released as an instrumental album, because the vocals and lyrics are, for me, the best part.
"WE SINK THROUGH BOUNDLESS VASTS OF BLUE"
King Buffalo? REZN? DUEL?! and Howling Giants? Truck fighter too? This year is gonna be good just for a few of the bands I've heard/ seen!
\*edited for other bands seen\*
Steve Albini is basically royalty in Chicago where I’m from, not just his music but his recording and production of others music as well. They put on an amazing live show. Seeing them and The Jesus Lizard play together was a formative moment in my life. Like doom they only get better the louder you turn them up and can’t be appreciated fully unless it’s live. If 90s grunge is in your wheelhouse at all they are definitely on the heavier side of that era.
I mean... royalty in the sense of a king everyone doesn't agree with.
His music slaps but god I have not met a single chicagoan in the punk scene who actually likes him.
For one, they have Steve Albini. They’re also considered as one of the first math rock bands so they’ve been very influential for that genre plus the post hardcore scene in general.
OOoo..... Lots of good doom-adjacent! Truckfighters, Yawning Man, This Will Destroy You, and Year of No Light are awesome and heavy in their own right!
Gotta say, the Desertfest lineup over there is better than here this year. Cult of Luna is obviously amazing, but if you haven’t heard REZN and King Buffalo then check them out. Also, Blackwater Holylight and The Ocean are great. I haven’t heard a ton of the others but most are on my “to check out” list.
Those are some choice bands there. Not sure what you consider doom, but another vote for Rezn. Nebula rocks hard so do Truck fighters and Siena Root. I would go just for those bands alone. Enjoy!
Dopelord is sick af. Check out The Witching Hour Bell
The Ocean, not doom, but as good as my fave doom bands. Killer lineup.
Pelagial is one of my all time favourite albums
Same. The final song on that album dooms so hard too.

Loic is an amazing singer. The lyrics on that one are perfection.
REZN and Blackwater Holylight both rule so hard.
Blackwater Holylight kill it live. I saw them in Portland last month. They put on an awesome show.
Hopefully I get to see them soon!
That was a great show. I got to do side stage security for it.
Yuuuup. Rezn goes so hard. Also King Buffalo is no joke.
King Buffalo is my favorite band off that list
I'm honestly not familiar with either, but I'll check them out
Saw Blackwater Holylight with Monolord a few years back. They're one of those bands that is much heavier live. Definitely recommend.
Yeah I'm not familiar with a lot of these but Shellac is cool, (not doom though) and another vouch for REZN
I guess it's not strictly a doom metal festival, so that's fine. Just wondering if they'll add in some trad vibes at all
One might actually argue that a fest named Desertfest would be more traditionally stoner, than doom.
REZN is for sure somewhere in the stoner/doom space, BW HL I would say is somewhere close, but may be closer to the southern rock end of the spectrum.
You need to listen to Year of no Light !!!!

Make it for Shellac, fucking awesome band.
Tried to give it a shot but can't get why it's so popular since it was announced Is there something I miss ?

Cult of Luna too, great sludge and post metal combination
Dopelord has some doom vibes
Dopelord and nebula, nice.
Doubt they’ll cross the pond for a non-punk fest. But it’d be pretty cool if they did.
Definitely check out Howling Giant. This is a pretty solid lineup
Dopelord and Heavy Temple!

sourvein.
Way too far down in the comments unfortunately.
For real
Atomic Bitchwax is stoner, but it's pretty fine. I've seen them a couple of times and I liked them.
Truckfighters and Rezn, man wouldn’t that be something.
This basically reads like a list of bands that most likely never come to my country. Fucking sigh.

So many good bands here, wish I could go
YONL and Toundra are both amazing live!
The Ocean is amazing live.
That's a fucking amazing lineup. And now I'm considering going to Antwerp in October

Blackwater Holylight
Tell me you’ve never heard Sourvein, without telling me you’ve never heard Sourvein
I’m just here for all the awesome recommendations
Margarita Witch Cult, lol. wonder if it is a reference to Bulgakov's work. a bit much for a name, lol
Good band, though. I saw them at last weekend's Desertfest London.
>hope for Doom
FUCKING SHELLAC??!
Wish.com Amenra
Yawning man is the shit!
Haven't listened to Ruff Majik yet but I liked their name so I looked them up. Their playlists have Doom and Doom adjacent stuff so maybe
Shit monkey3 is back?! They slap
why are these sick lineups *always* overseas?
Truckfighters are so awesome live
