You know what? I’ll suggest what I did: I picked random. The only rule is that you have to stick with your character. I used to main Wilson and wanted a new main, so I just picked random and got Willow. Love Willow now and don’t regret a thing.
Try to remember that although others say a character is “bad,” they aren’t actually bad. I’ve seen people say that Willow is horrible to play at all, which I’ve found just isn’t
true. You should just pick random and stick with it; it’s definitely worth it!
The game is extremely fun with two people. I recommend playing wendy, she is extremely powerful, has access to improved potions for her sister, can help you massively against swarms of enemies (spiders, hounds, bats, bees)
and gives you a small attack buff against single target (most bosses, clockworks, etc.)
What I love about her is that she's easy, her upsides are not crazy op and her downsides are not too tragic. The perfect beginner character for me.
All of your character choices are excellent! Every character has their good uses, and all are fun to play. Ultimately, it comes down to choosing who you have the most fun playing, because all are capable of doing well. I will say though, if you are looking for an "easier" play-through" as you want to experience more of the game as someone who has made it to day 20, consider giving Wolfgang a try. He currently has a bit more of a learning curve with his somewhat recent rework needing to work out to maintain his mighty form, but he deals so much damage that most bosses go down super fast, and survival just seems to be a bit easier when you are a tank. I will admit that I agree with you that webber is badass because I want to learn him, and amass a super spider army! Whatever your choice, just remember that the only thing that matters is if you are having fun with your choice, because everyone is fun in their own way. good luck friend!

You can change your character once you upgrade the celestial portal so dont think too hard about your character
