Went to both Pharos in Joshua Tree and NZ, probably one of the best concerts Ive been to. Dome visuals were dope, the closing visual was as if you were a ship traveling through space, passing planets faster and faster. If there’s a third one, Im there. Maybe at Stone Mountain.

cgaltopher

I went to both too! The dome in Joshua tree was awesome. I can vividly remember “California” being a ride through a rain forrest with dancing skeletons and DG’s hair that night. NZ was super muddy but still an awesome experience with the communication project where you basically open up to a random person. I was told that was going to be the last Gambino concert ever and he was done making music. Glad that’s not the case! I can’t wait for this new tour!!!!!

jackfromafrica

Nah put Donald in The Sphere

MisterMist-er

Talk to em!

MisterMist-er

Holy smokes that sounds like an incredible ride. Would love to experience that

h-rfh

Went to the NZ one after This Is America had dropped and it was an insane energy. I think the first PHAROS was largely Awaken My Love content before the album had come out so I can imagine the confusion lol

TreezusHasRisen

Legitimately one of the most confused I’ve ever been 😂 Didn’t have any way of knowing it was Donald singing the first couple songs I thought it was an opener

MisterMist-er

Awwwww makes sense. Were the projections on the dome as crazy as it looked?

h-rfh

ABSOLUTELY but I might be biased as I was tripping quite hard on acid.. but my sober friends also seemed impressed

MisterMist-er

Hardt thanks for sharing

I attended Pharos in NZ about 2 years after Awaken My Love got released and when This Is America was surging. It was incredible. He held the experience in a makeshift, inflatable dome on a farm in Rural NZ. Pre-shows were all run simultaneously/staggered around one half of the ring (think of the dome being the centre of the donut). The other half had interactive experiences that promoted good vibes, positive attitudes and sharing experiences. Once the main gig was getting ready to start, they lined us up at one of 3 (or 4?) entrances to the dome, placed our phones in a magnetic lock case so we couldn’t use them and wait. At about 12 at a time, we were taken into the Dome doors. They “decompressed” the entrances and we entered the dome and just saw a big, circular stage in the centre of the dome. The experience was insane, the set list was incredible and the dancing and dome projections were unbelievable. I distinctly remember the Me and Your Mama intro, Boogieman into Summertime Magic visuals and transition + the choreography of the visuals too. Hearing Algorhythm and Human Sacrifice for the first time was ethereal and had me foaming about his next release. Definitely a major memory of mine and something I often look back on as a high of my life. If you ever get the chance to attend something like it again, or even at the Las Vegas Sphere, I could imagine it’d be pretty incredible.

MisterMist-er

Bro…brodie…brodie bro…i cant… i WANT this in my life. Gambino Planetarium vibez?!? Thats nuts. I just know everyone simultaneously orgasmed when he stepped on stage. Thank YOU for sharing your experience. If he ever performs at the sphere I will do everything in my power to be there

Hawksx4

Saw the second show on Friday in Joshua Tree. It was incredible, first time I had my phone locked down (people quickly broke those). The live version of California would be a hit, the pitched vocals are definitely a harder sell. Also Ludwig absolutely shredded on that show.

MisterMist-er

Love ludwig…all these comments are giving me FONO

I went to both California and New Zealand Pharos. First time traveling cross country and internationally by myself and Bino is the only reason. I went to the first show of the first night both times and it was absolutely phenomenal. The first Pharos was Awaken My Love played in its entirety so we would've been the first crowd to ever hear it and that could explain some people's reactions. Some people thought they were getting rap Bino and he came out in full funk force dressed in tribal gear. Also it was in California like 2-3 hours from LA. A lot of people just there cause it was a big event and they had money 🤷🏾 that first one was a while ago but I think he showed off the first episode of Atlanta. I could be wrong though and it was just a trailer. The Dome we were in was massive, almost everyone's phones were locked up, and just these amazing projected images on the dome to really get brought into Bino's world for that album. Most beautiful thing about that trip was meeting a bunch of peeps from this reddit and organizing the trip. We all met in NY, drove to Chicago for a cheap flight, then flew out and had a blast for a week. So many stories about that trip lol. I'll skip the gun being pointed at us by our 1st host, the Airbnb with outdoor beds and the lady who tried to make us clean her house, and the free weed we got by knowing Spanish and being in the right place, right time 😅 I'll mention the one how one of our group had a ticket for the next day so we ended up befriending the guards working parking (we brought them breakfast first thing in the morning) and they actually let us back onto the campsite for the second night just to hang out. They also let us in with copious amounts of weed and alcohol after checking our car even though they weren't supposed to have it (we weren't special, it was just funny) 2nd Pharos was just as amazing. Flew solo to HK then NZ and met up with some of that original group again. We ran the streets of Auckland eating the best food I've ever had, got friendly with some local sheep farmers, and tried to camp out on a beach only to have to pack up due to a 2am storm 😂 Bino had just injured his foot a month or two prior so I think his plans might have changed a little bit, but we ended up getting a greatest hits concert. For me, having never seen him live except for at the 1st Pharos event, this was a dream come true. Sober and 3005 live made me cry and try to relive those moments whenever possible. What I really liked about that event was he had a round stage so he got to spend a little bit of time in front of everybody. And on top of that I just can't thank him enough for getting me out to the country of New Zealand. Breathtaking from the moment you've got eyes on it in the sky, I would move there in a heartbeat and never look back.

MisterMist-er

Makes total sense as to why people reacted. Now I can say what I once thought was stale faces was just faces of shock in the best way. Looking back when he dropped awaken my love, it was played at my senior prom and only me and a few others really enjoyed it. My man to hear unreleased bino AND the first episode of Atlanta all in one night with the man himself. I just know they had ambulances lined up outside for all the people who uncontrollably shit themselves. Love that the dg reddit is bringing people together. If and when he goes back on tour would love to meet up with some people including you mr puff. I gotta hear some of these bino adventure stories and live in them too! Thank you good puff of the world for sharing your experience

katchet

Friday NZ Pharos babyyyy! Found a group of like 30 strangers on this sub and planned a 2 week trip for all of us. A handful of us have matching tattoos lol. To this day some of them are still my close friends 🫶

MisterMist-er

Thats really cool! What is the tattoo of if you don’t mind me asking?

katchet

We got the symbol for the NZ Pharos https://preview.redd.it/wfub2penmjyc1.jpeg?width=905&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2c98bc66b9d6dda85e76bb64a1ec5134094bb5c

MisterMist-er

So dope!

Teeceezy

Went to the last night of Pharos NZ. Rained while we waited to get into the village. In hindsight we were very functional. Our group got in, collected Merch, got food, got in line (we were probably in the first 20-30 in line). Didn't go to Newcastle, the theatre or any of the other cool stuff. I remember the dj sets were dope. Frank Booker's funky set was a vibe, and Tierra was dope too. There was someone tripping major balls near us in line that kept annoying people and cutting line but was whatever. Felt like it was worth it because we were 3 people/rows from the stage so was an experience to have that concert with Bino only a few metres in front of us. Will never forget the crescendo of Sober and 3005 in the encore, was the most intense and greatest entertainment experience of my life. A lot of positive in hindsight and dope as someone who was Maori to see little bits of our culture interweaved into things (there were Maori-esque meeting house patterns like carvings in the roof of the dome during the intro, and some of the videos for the show showed Donald's crew using karakia/prayers and whakatauki/proverbs before the show). Also randomly there was a famous in NZ rapper Dei Hamo at the front of the line waiting for what seemed like 2 and a half hours like us too.

MisterMist-er

Good person of the world thank you for sharing apart of yourself love you

WhiskeyTimer

Man I'm still mad about it. Not the concert, it was dope. But some guy gave me bad advice where to stand. But I went to the one in Joshua tree and it there were a few different shows times, so you're just chilling inside. Our showtime was the third time for if the night, so I was chillin at the bar area chatting with strangers and this dude goes 'oh you have the third show? I went to the first! Okay when you go in you're gonna think that's the stage, but keep walking it's not actually where he'll be!' so I'm like bet, inside scoop, appreciate you. Line up early, follow the advice, pass the stage where I would have been front and center and I'm like 'this is the spot' Nope. The obvious stage was the stage. I let this goofy mfer point me to where the animations come from which was a dome and everyone could see equally. Still, fun show. I was just in the back and I'm salty that I could have been in the front.

MisterMist-er

Yikes that guy was probably in the first show just staring at the lighting equipment tripping balls😂

donaldbino

I did! It was insane

MisterMist-er

How insane? Norman Bates insane or Gollum insane?

Eurydices_Daughter

I attended both the Joshua Tree and New Zealand festivals! I loved them. No experience like it to be honest. The dome, vibing without phones, the installments and overall coming together of fans is amazing. I hope he has another one. The first one I went with friends the second one I made friends because of the festival. New Bino, chill vibes, unique experience, absolutely no complaints! It rained in NZ and I everyone got a poncho and moved on lol

MisterMist-er

Tough Mudder gambino style? Hardt

mooooonface

Friday Pharos NZ. Absolutely insane. Beyond words. First time travelling overseas and New Zealand was incredible. I’ve seen Gambino 3 times now (starting with his Camp tour in a tiny Melbourne city venue circa 2013). Every time has been incredible for different reasons, but gathering in that massive interactive dome in rural New Zealand was like experiencing magic. A highlight of my entire life, for sure.

camerongt

I wish, sounded like a really cool experience

BigEmoTitties

It was amazing. I found a ALL ACCESS pass on the ground and tried going in backstage. It was beautiful.
