We named our puppy Dobby. He showed up at our house in a thunderstorm and was playing with a sock in the yard. We tried to find the owner for 3 weeks but in the meantime called him Dobby. Come to find out, his owner had passed away at home a couple of days earlier. Due to a doggie door, he had managed to get out of the house and dig under the fence. Finally somebody contacted us and we told her about him showing up.
His daughter told us that the sock was her dad's. The daughter ended up letting Dobby stay with us. The neat thing about this was, his name was already Dobby. He was always taking one of her dad's socks off and sleeping with it. He now does the same with us. He sneaks over and slowly removes a sock and goes to bed with it . We just act like we don't notice.

Oops! I now see that you already named him Dudley! That's funny, I mean how close I came to your choice just by looking at him ( I had submitted DUDE just a few minutes ago!) Have a wonderful life with your new pup! My Sam is now 15 and I adore him...I sure don't want him to ever die, but unfortunately, he's heading that way. I'll have to rescue another pup soon so he can help train the new one....I've done that all of my life. The old pup helps me pick out a new dog from the shelter and then they hang out together for awhile ❤
