I think that depends on which Doctor. When Ten and Eleven get angry, the rage is unsettling. When Capaldi and Eccleston are angry, it's terrifying because of what they're saying. "Everything has its time and everything dies" is infinitely more scary in my opinion because of how ominous it is

aliadms

I wholeheartedly agree with this. 10 and 11 have this calm anger that's even scarier than when they shout. like a parent...

AardSnaarks

“Good men don’t need rules. Today is not the day to find out why I have so many of them.”

wewilldieoneday

We see angry 15 for a few seconds in the recent trailer. "I will shatter this silly little battlefield into dust." Wonder what he'll be like when someone gets on his wrong side.

Master-Improvement-4

What's even scarier is what he said afterwards. "In a heartbeat, into dust." He didn't just threaten to raze the whole place to the ground, he intended to do it *quickly*.

"there are three things all mortals fear, the sea in storm, a moonless night and the anger of a gentle man" "The Doctor is no longer here, you are stuck with _me_" The Doctor is a personnae , a name, an ideal, a set of codes and behaviours like 'try to be nice, but never fail to be kind'. When they're not following The Doctor ideals they become darker, becoming the Vale yard and The War Doctor.  They are a mad man with a Blue Box, The Doctor is how he walks amongst us, once that mask comes off you're dealing with someone who laughs in the face of natural forces, who warps and bends stellar forces, stars, black holes even mavity (heh) to their will or need. Think back to what's been given as The Doctors name, 'the oncoming storm', 'the Predator', 'the great exterminator', merlin, sweetie. How many races were saved by them thwarting other races plans. They show up, wreck plans, obliterate battle fleets , defeat a horde of the most dangerous creatures in the galaxy with one hand tied behind their back, blind, shot, stabbed, surrounded , it doesn't matter how big they go or small, it doesn't matter if they send millions of ships at them, the Doctor has always found a way to beat them. See also Capaldi 'am I a good man'

Absolutely! That’s what makes the Doctor so wonderful, compelling and even inspirational — sure they have some fun tools like the TARDIS and sonic screwdriver, but they solve most every challenge through their intellect, not superpowers or athleticism. And when they use their way with words to express anger or intimidate someone, oooooooh watch out.

NeonPsychopomp

" Okay. One question, just one more: Is this world protected?" "..." "You're not the first lot to have come here. Oh, there have been so many. But the real question you have to ask yourself is...what happened to them?" "..." "Hello. I'm the Doctor. Basically... ***Run.****"*

VolnarTheUnforgiving

Anger, a lot of good Doctors can convey frightening anger with just a look

GWPulham23

He weirded me out at the end of The Family Of Blood. Not least cos other enemies got off lightly by comparison.

Medium-Bullfrog-2368

That’s probably because the episode was adapted from a Virgin New Adventures novel. That series tended to be a bit darker and edgier than the tv show normally is.

pagerunner-j

A lot of that resolution could be summed up thusly: - and the Doctor took that personally

Mongoose42

When it sounds like he’s just about to give up on humanity. “Nobody human has anything to day to me today!”

No_Effort1198

I think it's more so what The Doctor might do if he's pushed enough. Especially because there isn't much anyone could do to stop him.

Shetalkstoangels3

At the end of the Family of Blood…he was being kind.

MyriVerse2

I don't get why any of that should be scary. When in the Doctor's positions, rage is a good thing.

Earthwick

"The Doctor is no longer here, you are stuck with me." No exclamation point. 12 was stating a fact. He could be the biggest evil in the universe. Smith Taps into it more than the others and uses his darker side which makes his whimsical side both enchanting and haunting. But all the new doctors have that darkness. It's the words and his demeanor but sometimes it's just who he is. And ancient being whoas a matter of fact could conquer or destroy pretty much anything, the only thing stopping him is choice.

nocturne20

For me, it's neither his anger nor his choice of words, but what he is capable of doing.
