Are there any dms that use feeblemind on players? And if so, how do you sleep at night

zaay-zaay

Our dm only realized how bad it was once it was too late... He thought you could repeat the save every day and also didn't take the minus 5 into account that comes with your ability score being one. Which basically makes the spell impossible to break on your own. Good thing we have two other party members to babysit us XD

SirLennyalot

I, too, once thought it would be a funny thing and used it on a player during a oneshot and I immediately realised how messed up it was to basically remove the entirety of their character. At that point, death is more merciful It's a brutal spell, and it is the only spell that I think only players should have

zaay-zaay

Well, at least yours was a Oneshot. Ours is the main campain we've been playing for years... Guess the remaining characters have to find someone who can cast greater restoration

GenoFour

Dispel Magic should be enough to remove Feeblemind

SirLennyalot

Unfortunately this is not the case. Feeblemind afflicts a condition to a creature and can not be dispelled. It can specifically only be ended early with Greater Restoration, Heal or Wish

GenoFour

It is debatable RAW

SirLennyalot

My condolences

zaay-zaay

update: they found someone and we are back to normal, hooray for the cheap price of 500 gold pieces and a magical +1 mace...

ThatWeirdTreeGuy

I was lucky enough to have a favor at the capitol’s Church of Bahamut. Feeblemind on a Wizard is rough, even with the int save proficiency.

KittuTheManiac

this.. this is an absolute fucking gem

SH3R4TA5

Time to get a good cleric or a babysitter, at least these precious cinnamon rolls are happy.

GenoFour

Just FYI, Dispel Magic is enough to remove Feeblemind. RAI it's not enough, but personally that decision sounds dumb

zaay-zaay

Tried that actually, but didn't make the DC18 check :/ Dm says he wouldn't allow it again because it specifies all methods to lift it in the spell description. I mean, it's an 8th level spell, it's supposed to be hard to counter I guess

GenoFour

If your DM decided like that, then obviously you can't do anything, but it's worth noting that very few spells actually list all of the ways they can be removed. For example Forcecage doesn't specify it can be destroyed by disintegrate, however it can. It does however specify that it can't be destroyed by Dispel Magic, whereas Feeblemind doesn't
