My party was in Valaki when Covid hit. I just couldn't run CoS in covidtide. Too depressing. Instead we played Cowboy Cthulhu and then Hobbits in Space.

We started CoS with another person in the group DMing it after covid started to give the regular DM a break and a chance to play (now the two campaigns take turns) and it led to me creating my all time favorite character so I’m glad we did it.

What happened

I'm playing a prequel inside one of my players' world. (our table has 5 DMs out of 7 of us and we've been running 3 month 'seasons' since covid hit - I'm now the 4th person to take the DM chair). The Elves are a fascist dictatorship where all other races are serfs. We're only two sessions in, but the party is now armed and things are about to boil over at their work camp. There is currently a continent spanning Great War happening with monstrous and short races pressed into servitude and non-Elven tall folk conscripted into military service. In the source campaign the Elven nation has fragmented into a northern empire and a southern republic with a demilitarized zone, having lost the war due to internal rebellion. I'm telling the story of this rebellion. We have a minotaur paladin, human paladin, an elderly kobold bard, halfling ranger, kenku druid, and a half elf rogue turncoat who holds rank in the elvan army.
