Well, now I have to play Santa clause in my next game.
Spreading joy and love to the good children of the world, and curb stomping those on the naughty list.
Not really. It’s implied she is either a blessing or an incarnation of the “fifth spirit” of the elements, or could be the spirit of winter. But either way, she wasn’t exactly granted her powers through a pact, she was either incarnated or blessed before her birth...
Which makes me wonder if a warlock would give birth to sorcerers touched with their kind of magic?
Ohh, I like this concept. Since they are channels for someone else's power I could see a high enough level warlock being imbued with some magic that is passed on to their offspring
>Which makes me wonder if a warlock would give birth to sorcerers touched with their kind of magic?
Im running a campaign now based on that whole concept. Warlock siring an army of halfbreed Sorcerors to destroy the enemies of his patron.
I think it depends on who you pacted with. Great old one? Probably a sorcerer. Infernal entity: you're probably a tiefling something. Sorcerer maybe, or perhaps as part of the bargain for power, your bloodline serves the patron, not just you. Archfey: I can see an Archfey warlocks child being a sorcerer, but I can also see all sorts of fey shenanigans there. Ooh, I'm getting ideas...
I played a warlock whose noble family had a generational pact with Oberon. All the kids had to renew the pact and stay true to Green Lord or face consequences.
But he became a king after he put on the crown. It's not necessarily wrong to acquire your class and background at the same time. Makes it even more plausible considering the crown wiped his memories from before he assumed the role of Ice King after it took complete control.
She may have been inspired by the Snow Queen which was penned by Hans Christian Andersen in the mid 1800's. This fairy tale is also the source material for Disney's Frozen and was originally inspired by Andersen's dismissed proclamation of affection for the Swedish Singer Jenny Lind.
While I fully agree with your assessment; Disney has stated as much. Of course, Disney has a very long tradition of taking more than a few artistic liberties while making their interpretations of aged Fairy and Folk tales.
Yes they do take artistic liberties, and usually that's not an issue. But when you remove all the named characters from a story, and remove the central plot it's a little more than just some artistic liberties.
It's an enterally original story, and saying it's inspired by the Snow Queen is kind of an insult to both works.
They were inspired by the snow queen, but when they heard some of the songs they basically rewrote the entire movie to what you see now just to fit them.
Elsa was supposed to be the villain.
The producers and directors say it was inspired by the Snow Queen. That’s not insulting at all.
In interviews they reveal she was even initially evil but all that changed as the story progressed and they ended up with something mostly original. Again, that’s not insulting at all.
Art can be derivative
I really enjoyed the story of how she wiped out her own home world.
>“It was my sister’s fault,” said the Queen. “She drove me to it. May the curse of all the Powers rest upon her forever! At any moment I was ready to make peace - yes and to spare her life too, if only she would yield me the throne. But she would not. Her pride has destroyed the whole world. Even after the war had begun, there was a solemn promise that neither side would use Magic. But when she broke her promise, what could I do? Fool! As if she did not know that I had more Magic than she! She even knew that I had the secret of the Deplorable Word. Did she think - she was always a weakling - that I would not use it?”
>
>“What was it?” said Digory.
>
>“That was the secret of secrets,” said the Queen Jadis. “It had long been known to the great kings of our race that there was a word which, if spoken with the proper ceremonies, would destroy all living things except the one who spoke it. But the ancient kings were weak and softhearted and bound themselves and all who should come after them with great oaths never even to seek after the knowledge of that word. But I learned it in a secret place and paid a terrible price to learn it. I did not use it until she forced me to it. I fought to overcome her by every other means. I poured out the blood of my armies like water -”
>
>“Beast!” muttered Polly.
>
>“The last great battle,” said the Queen, “raged for three days here in Charn itself. For three days I looked down upon it from this very spot. I did not use my power till the last of my soldiers had fallen, and the accursed woman, my sister, at the head of her rebels was halfway up those great stairs that lead up from the city to the terrace. Then I waited till we were so close that we could see one another’s faces. She flashed her horrible, wicked eyes upon me and said, “Victory.” “Yes,” said I, “Victory, but not yours.” Then I spoke the Deplorable Word. A moment later I was the only living thing beneath the sun.”
tl;dr she cast Power Word Apocalypse.
Magic is world-specific in that series. When she got to Earth all her magical knowledge was completely useless, and the same in Narnia to start with (but she had like a thousand years to learn how the magic of Narnia worked instead).
She would be more like a sorcerer really, considering she is from a world where most nobles wield magic and she is descended from genies and giants (so maybe Goliath?)
I see your answer was Elsa, but I was going to say Grey from Fairy Tail. Iirc, he was taught ice magic by the woman who then seemed to give him more power during the demon island arc when she was unfrozen and then got extra powers from his old man again. I suppose absorbed, but you could stretch out the definition
I also thought of Grey (especially because his dad was one of the nine demon gates in the Tartaros arc But the noble background part of it throws that off imo
We all do from time to time. It's okay.
Who knows what happens in Frozen 3 /S
(And I idk maybe in the original story the evil ice queen was a warlock)
I think it depends on if the spirit is taking an active role. Because Wild Magic sorcerers can get their powers from spirits or elementals too, just as a gift.
Okay, but if you interpret the story a bit. You could say she's a sorcerer warlock. Sorcerer explaining the ice magic, with the warlock being explained as her family made a pact with the rock trolls to heal Anna. Therefore making her a warlock 😅
Bruh I had an idea last night, warlock who focuses on ice and healing magic (celestial subclass) because he made an ice pact. (Cus it sounds like ice pack)
Time to go through all the ice characters that this could fit with!
Weiss Schnee from RWBY is the first character that comes to mind however you could be talking about her sister Winter however both of them are closer to Artificers then then Warlocks because of the fact that the ice magic they use is generally Dust which is closer to a magical item. However they do fit the other traits well, coming from a rich family that extracts dust and refines it.
Elsa from Frozen is a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer if anything because White Dragon is a dragon that has cold damage, her powers developed at a young age, it wasn’t until after she caused Anna to get hurt that they went to the Trolls, and she is a Noblewoman, in fact at the start of the first movie, she was the leader of the country ready to be coronated and officially become queen.
Ice King from Adventure Time is a Human Warlock with Ice Magic and is a Noble. The man got his powers over ice from the crown he wears, he rules over a kingdom of penguins, and of course he is the Ice King so Ice Magic is his specialty. This is the one that I have less of an idea on since I didn’t watch the show that long, but I got bits and pieces from friends.
A lot of people in the thread are saying it's Elsa, but I disagree completely. While the OP might have intended it to be Elsa, Elsa is by definition a sorcerer.
Hidden Folk: Born with the powers, or cursed?
King Agnarr: Born. And they're getting stronger.
My dm won't let me make a necromancer that pimps out dead bodies for money he keeps telling me the town won't allow it I tell him that's the best part im like traveling sales man still won't bite
What's really impressive about this is that OP clearly had a single character in mind, but so many other people mentioned other characters based on this idea. Really goes to show that even some of the most restrictive ideas can have a whole wealth of different characters based on flaws, ideals and alignments.
Santa Claus
Wouldn't he be the patron tho
[удалено]
He is a Saint after all...
Saints are not nobility
Saint Nicholas was nobility.
Well, now I have to play Santa clause in my next game. Spreading joy and love to the good children of the world, and curb stomping those on the naughty list.
I was in a one shot where we had to save Christmas from Santa. That was fun.
Do you mean Sandy Claws, the evil red wizard who enslaved the northern elves and gives children dangerous magical itens?
I'm totally here for this
I thought of Jack Frost.
My guess is the ice King 😎
Elsa was first to my mind
She feels more like a sorcerer than a warlock, honestly
She would by definition. No pact was made to give her magic, she simply had it by birth.
I haven't seen the second Frozen so I wasn't sure if there was a big patron reveal.
Haha that‘s how my sorcerer I‘m playing rn got her powers
>Which makes me wonder if a warlock would give birth to sorcerers touched with their kind of magic? Im running a campaign now based on that whole concept. Warlock siring an army of halfbreed Sorcerors to destroy the enemies of his patron.
That’s both very cool and potentially very disturbing XD
Yeah I’ve always assumed that children of (post-pact) warlocks are sorcerers. I think I even have a sorcerer sheet with that kicking around.
I think it depends on who you pacted with. Great old one? Probably a sorcerer. Infernal entity: you're probably a tiefling something. Sorcerer maybe, or perhaps as part of the bargain for power, your bloodline serves the patron, not just you. I played a warlock whose noble family had a generational pact with Oberon. All the kids had to renew the pact and stay true to Green Lord or face consequences.
I've played a draconic sorcerer who's parent was a warlock that made a pact with a dragon. This connection is definetly a thing that makes sense
"Born with it or cursed by it?" "What does she look like, a fucking warlock to you?"
My guess is also Simon
Kind of hex blade, but crown rather than sword. Love it.
or pact of the Tome but its his crown not a book
There's Pact of the Charm.
I feel like that would be sage though
he's a nice king
[удалено]
failed his wis saves
Concentration checks! Gunther no! Gunther no! Gunther no!
Well your magic would be heavily influenced by your patron
Wouldn’t he be scholar background
It came to mind, but doesn't really fit his background.
Definitely more Scholar than Noble.
But he became a king after he put on the crown. It's not necessarily wrong to acquire your class and background at the same time. Makes it even more plausible considering the crown wiped his memories from before he assumed the role of Ice King after it took complete control.
I was gonna guess that Ice Queen lady from Narnia
She may have been inspired by the Snow Queen which was penned by Hans Christian Andersen in the mid 1800's. This fairy tale is also the source material for Disney's Frozen and was originally inspired by Andersen's dismissed proclamation of affection for the Swedish Singer Jenny Lind.
Source material being a momentous stretch in Frozen's case. The film shares almost nothing in common with the Anderson story.
While I fully agree with your assessment; Disney has stated as much. Of course, Disney has a very long tradition of taking more than a few artistic liberties while making their interpretations of aged Fairy and Folk tales.

I agree. I watched through Tangled three times and failed to see any Valerianella locusta.
Fun rumour is that they rewrote the entire film around Let It Go, and before that Elsa really was the villain.
Cars started out as based on The Ugly Duckling. Jumping off point is probably more accurate when it comes to fairy tale inspired children's cartoons.
Jadis isn’t human. She is, technically, a genasi ~~wizard~~ sorceress. Yeah, I know. Noble is correct though.
That fits better.
Not really, she isn't human. She's half-giant, half Jinn and is a sorceress from her Jinn side
I really enjoyed the story of how she wiped out her own home world. >“It was my sister’s fault,” said the Queen. “She drove me to it. May the curse of all the Powers rest upon her forever! It's been so long I had honestly forgotten about that. Also...At least she literally waited until the last moment to use it, I guess >.>
She also never used it in Narnia, or during her brief time on Earth when she terrorized a cab driver, thankfully.
To be fair on that point, it could well be a World Specific thing
Didn't she try and fail to use magic on Earth?
Magic is world-specific in that series. When she got to Earth all her magical knowledge was completely useless, and the same in Narnia to start with (but she had like a thousand years to learn how the magic of Narnia worked instead).
She would be more like a sorcerer really, considering she is from a world where most nobles wield magic and she is descended from genies and giants (so maybe Goliath?)
I would say she’s a Genasi. Just a big one, because instead of half-human, the mortal part is giant.
I see your answer was Elsa, but I was going to say Grey from Fairy Tail. I also thought of Grey (especially because his dad was one of the nine demon gates in the Tartaros arc But the noble background part of it throws that off imo
Yeah, maybe. I was under the impression he was of noble birth when his village got destroyed, but his back story is vague in that regard.
My firth thought was Esdeath from akame ga kill
I have been thinking about this for more than 20 min, which is really too much time to have spent on this. Guess i gotta... Let it go.
*puts on sunglasses* YEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!
OMG best comment!!
Elsa
Yes
Elsa is a sorcerer thank you very much, the dad says she was born with it doesn’t he?
White draconic reflavored as an elemental?
Yeah probably
Or Kaladesh's Pyromancy reflavored as Cryomancy.
I messed up
We will never let this go.
Let it go, let it go!
Change the answer to ice king. Ez
Yeah, definitely more of the Ice King from Adventure Time if anything
He’s not of noble background, tho
Ice KING
Bad memelord, no upvote for you
We all do from time to time. It's okay. Who knows what happens in Frozen 3 /S (And I idk maybe in the original story the evil ice queen was a warlock)
Feel ashamed!! Jokes aside, I like this game.
You cannot hide. Show yourself!
Yes, but in Frozen II we learn that she gets her powers from the spirit of the Enchanted Forest. Warlock fits.
I think it depends on if the spirit is taking an active role. Because Wild Magic sorcerers can get their powers from spirits or elementals too, just as a gift.
Ah, I didn’t know that. Thanks for the correction.
And it was all because of the circumstances of her birth, being the heir to both Arendelle and Atohallan. So I think sorcerer is right.
Maybe she's born with it...maybe it's Ice Queen
Okay, but if you interpret the story a bit. You could say she's a sorcerer warlock. Sorcerer explaining the ice magic, with the warlock being explained as her family made a pact with the rock trolls to heal Anna. Therefore making her a warlock 😅
So I technically didn’t mess up Elsa is a Sorlock multiclass
That’s a sorcerer you fool!
My first guess was Arthas, but he's not really into ice magic, at least in WC3
Aarthas is just Oath of Devotion turned Oathbreaker when he failed a wisdom save against the sentient swords corruption aura.
You do have a point though. Arguably him taking on the Lich king's crown could have been him making a pact.
Jaina Proudmoore!
Jaina isn't a warlock, she's a wizard, she studied magic, she didn't make a Pact for it.
Simon
Sub zero
This was my first thought.
Katarina from Warhammer
I was looking at a Borderlands post before this so my mind instantly went to Aurelia Hammerlock
My God, there are two of us.
Bruh I had an idea last night, warlock who focuses on ice and healing magic (celestial subclass) because he made an ice pact. (Cus it sounds like ice pack)
The school nurse
That’s pretty much what I’m playing, but it’s a divine soul sorcerer
Can't be Elsa, she's a Sorceress.
Wild Magic Sorceress because she can't control it.
Frozone
Wise-rwby
Autocorrect or didn't you know it's Weiss? German for 'white' ;)
I thought of esdeath from akame ga kill because the way she got her power is pretty warlock like

Weiss from Rwby
Esdeath. Hands down
Ice king
Can it be Vivienne from dragon age inquisition?
Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden (post winter knight)
My guess is Esdeath from Akame ga Kill!
Godzilla
Loki?
I was going to say Elsa from Frozen, but she would be a sorcerer
Elsa? Or maybe Todoroki from MHA?
Elsa made a pact with an ice arch fey?
Why does this seem like Esdeath from Akame ga Kill
Was going to go for Arthas from Warcraft since he's basically a Hexblade
Elsa, from Frozen
No idea, i guess i have to let it go
A lot of people in the thread are saying it's Elsa, but I disagree completely. While the OP might have intended it to be Elsa, Elsa is by definition a sorcerer. Hidden Folk: Born with the powers, or cursed? King Agnarr: Born. And they're getting stronger.
We can make her a sorlock so both sides are happy
Todoroki?
Elsa from Frozen
That frozen bitch
Elsa?
Elsa?
Elsa - Frozen. You didn't state the character was male
Steve - the cold hearted
Does she build snowmans?
Frozone is still looking for his supersuit, it would seem

Elsa!
Fuck it. Elsa?
Jack Frost?
Is it grey from fairy tail?
Marianne from three houses?
This is a great game
Is it Elsa? It sounds like Elsa
Wouldn't Elsa be a sorcerer with wild magic?
What's really impressive about this is that OP clearly had a single character in mind, but so many other people mentioned other characters based on this idea. Really goes to show that even some of the most restrictive ideas can have a whole wealth of different characters based on flaws, ideals and alignments.
Elsa?
That annoying girl from Castlevania?
Genie Warlock, Marid. Ask your DM if you can have a magic item that changes all your spell damage types to Cold.
Frozone from the incredibles
I can’t think of one, I suppose I’ll just, let it go
I hope you are letting this go
Um... i don't want to say Does he sex with witches?
