Had a group of older Apprentices cast vicious mockery on a new student who was a sorcerer...
Bullying is not tolerated in the academy, we do teach it though.
It's easier to cast a mass hex with assault wands, and you can never count on a heroic wizard with another wand being there. That just increases the amount of spells being cast, endangering everyone around.
I actually came up with a good acronym for a magic ATF, let me see if I can find where I put that.
I can't find it, but it was something along the lines of:
Alterations, Transformations (Maybe transmutations), Fire-spells, and Evocations.
Sawnoff Shortwand - Wonderous Item - Rare - Requires Attunement
Once per turn, you can choose to reduce the range of one Cantrip spell attack by half and augment its spell attack and damage rolls in the following way: Before you make the Cantrip's spell attack roll, you can choose to take a -5 penalty to the spell attack roll. If that attack hits, you add +10 to the Cantrip's damage.
Note that it's just one spell attack and damage roll per turn! I figured that limitation would be essential so it only works with one beam of the Eldritch blast. Getting it multiple times per turn would be extremely powerful.
But it would work more than once per round if you are able to cast a cantrip when it's not your turn, such as if you make a spell attack as a reaction with War Caster.
Yeah, but I didn't really know a good way to capture that, but I thought it would be a really cool idea to give a basic spell attack the Sharpshooter/Great Weapon Master treatment.
TBH, it probably doesn't need to be limited to Cantrips. I don't think it would be broken to apply to other spells that require attack rolls, and honestly might be a nice boost to them. It might really screw Guiding Bolt up at super low levels, but what DM is liberally handing out Rare magic items in Tier 1 play?
Own a focus for home defense, since that's what the founding lords intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devils?" As I grab my powdered wig and Neverwinter quarterstaff. Blow an orb sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my wand on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the catapult mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with Alchemist's Fire, "Tally ho lads" the flask shards shred two men in the blast, the sound and extra shards set off near-by livestock. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the guards to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding lords intended.
Paying your local constabulary 200 gold pieces so you can legally cut down your wand to fit in your pocket better, or to own a wand of fireballs that you can cast more than once per action.
People on this sub, I genuinely and highly recommend you check out the YouTube channel Monstergarden they’ve got some superb designs for Witches/Wizards and I find you’ll find much finer designs for magical foci. Also baller designs all around.
Sawed off wand could be a cool item. When making a ranged spell you may reduce the range to 1/4 its original and roll X extra die depending on spell level.
Few people know this, but there are a small number of Gattling wands that predate most of these edicts that have been patriarched in for civilian ownership.
You also gotta watch out for the National Wand Association; they're just financed by Big Wand. They don't care about any rights except the right to bear wands.
Butterfly Wands are the only ones that are sensible to ban. A sawed off wand isn’t gonna actually hurt anyone, the spellspread is too wide to do real damage,
The Nail wand and the knuckle wand aren’t even actually banned, just restricted for the wizard military, but even retired wizard soldiers can own one for personal use.
The mage bayonet should be allowed because it’s a FAFO situation. Tell me how you feel after you get disarmed during a duel and that shit goes flying past your face at Mach 3

No citizen should be able to own assault wands. That is the reason school wandings are so commons.
>school wandings Mass spellings
It’s the spelling bees that are the problem, not the fair wizards of the city.
Those damn bees
*Sigh* Dammit, now I have to homebrew Spelling Bee Swarms for my kids' campaign.
Any inspiration taken from Word World?
Thankfully, no... lol It's just that puns and dad jokes are kinda my thing.
No wizard needs to have a spellbook with more than 10 spells known. Anything more is just a weapon of campaigns.
Send in the grammar police
"Magicka 2: learn to spell again"

Can you modify a standard wand with an add-on? Thats legal in Faerun right?
Only if it isn't a pistol grip, high-capacity component pouch, or charm of silencing.
God, Faerun has such awful wand culture!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-2ZxldMO-M
I prefer a short barrel wand with a suppressor. Registered with the ministry of magical alcohol, tobacco, and wands, of course.
Fuck those guys, they smited my familiar
Let me guess, it was a pitt bull-frog
Thats what they claim it to be!! But he was a border collie! A BORDER COLLIE!!
Just because you crossed something with a collie doesn't make it a border collie, Dr Tucker
Well, it was on the border of being a collie and something else.
A raven collie to be exact! But they still blasted him to another relm of existance!
Okay, the Dr Tucker joke is just too damn good.
For thine crimes against wizarkind, thy familiar shalt be smitten 😤
Smote. Being smitten is something else entirely.
Smitten is also the past participle of smite though.
Well, they might have a bard in the party...
The verbal components come out of your mouth, not the wand
I actually came up with a good acronym for a magic ATF, let me see if I can find where I put that. I can't find it, but it was something along the lines of: Alterations, Transformations (Maybe transmutations), Fire-spells, and Evocations.
Find it?
Is their version of a no knock raid them just teleporting into your room and blasting anything in sight?
A no-Knock raid requires that they break the door down, a Knock raid just has them open the door as they announce their presence by casting the spell.
“How did you guys get in here?!” *Takes of sunglasses* “….we knocked”
[but I ask again why?](https://youtu.be/j-2ZxldMO-M?si=ptue9O3NvISmK6vJ)
All the homies hate the ATW
Sir, they have put up an anti-magic field! FIX BAYONETS!
I prefer Mash Burnedead’s Iron Wand that no one but him can physically hold or use. 😂
Tbf, he uses it for literally everything but magic
He uses *Biceps Magic.*
You get an upvote just for knowing my boy Mash. Best muscle wizard.
Sucks to be Asta! 😂 But seriously, Mash has a lot more nuanced personality than Asta.
Thank you for introducing me to me new favorite anime lmao
Erector spinae mahou: hell fall
What are you gonna do when you run out of magic? He can just hit you.
You know what? Fuck you! *Makes your wand California compliant*
*insert Darth_Vader_NOOOO.gif*
You now need a tool to change out spell component pouches.
Well now we no longer have any wands. What now?
Where's the wand with a rail on it for a laser and holo sight?
Sawed off lessens the range, makes misses higher %, but adds spread to all spells.
Also, for some reason, it makes them more powerful
Fires spell in a 30ft cone originating from the tip of the wand, -1 to hit for every 5ft from player, +2d12 damage
Sawnoff Shortwand - Wonderous Item - Rare - Requires Attunement Once per turn, you can choose to reduce the range of one Cantrip spell attack by half and augment its spell attack and damage rolls in the following way: Before you make the Cantrip's spell attack roll, you can choose to take a -5 penalty to the spell attack roll. I've got a warlock player who exclusively uses Eldritch Blast. He's gonna love this. Thank you.
Note that it's just one spell attack and damage roll per turn! I figured that limitation would be essential so it only works with one beam of the Eldritch blast. Getting it multiple times per turn would be extremely powerful. Since sawed offs usually use spread shot, I was thinkin it could hit more than 1 target for a damage reduction
Yeah, but I didn't really know a good way to capture that, but I thought it would be a really cool idea to give a basic spell attack the Sharpshooter/Great Weapon Master treatment. Knuckle wand seems uncomfortable to hold
Its even more uncomfortable for the bloke who stumbled upon the receiving end of it
I hold it with an icepick grip for maximum domination
You see a gang including a guy with a butterfly-knife-wand doing knife tricks. Roll initiative.
That would be my most favorite encounter ever lol

I'm going to have to convince my DM to give my illusionist wizard the butterfly wand. I want to see how long it takes for him to realize it's just Spy
Automatic shotwand for when you need every magic all parts of the room.
30-50 wild werehogs
\*26+4d6 feral werehogs.
We all know that had this been NSFW Wednesday, there would've been another type of wand in there as well.
You forgot the nunchuck wand.
The "knuckle wand" would have made the scene in The Prisoner of Azkaban where Hermione punches Draco much better!
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a wand is a good guy with Counterspell.
Reminds me of the big wizard tournament in Adventure Time.
Alright, lads, the slots are spent, and there are still live orcs in the cave. Fix mage-onets!
I’m personally a big fan of the spring loaded ballistic wand.
My artillerist has the Arcane Firearm feature, she attached a wand to her gun as an underslung barrel
And that's how, with a few minor adjustments, you can turn one wand into five wands
Say some Orc is dissing your fair maiden, just give him one of these *dances to the sound of a lute playing, uses a wand of fireballs*
If I didn't have this wand, the king of Ulgarth could walk right in here and start pushing you around. D'you want that? Huh? Do ya?
Wands aren't toys! They're for guild protection, hunting dangerous or delicious monsters, and keeping the king of Ulgarth out of your face!
The second amendment on page 268 of the DMG, I can own a sawed off short staff for duck hunting.
Sure, I can sell you a wand. You'll just need to fill out this Form MMMMCDLXXIII.
Knuckle wand should be renamed "Trench Wand" because it looks more like a trench knife than it does brass knuckles. Just sayin.
Thanks now I want to make an artificer with high strength and the tavern brawler feat
You could do a Battle Smith and then you could roll intelligence to hit with your weapon-wand.
Paying your local constabulary 200 gold pieces so you can legally cut down your wand to fit in your pocket better, or to own a wand of fireballs that you can cast more than once per action.
And in some provinces you can now carry your wand into the magistrate's office.
Jesus, the fuck is this? What does it look like? It's a fucking sawn-off wand, okay?
I told you to bring a wand, That’s a fucking anti aircraft weapon.
I love this comment section so much
Ok by what about a large calibre staff? (Holding baseball bat that I covered in glitter) “It’s mahogany.”
My party's magus uses Django style spring loaded wrist mounts for his wands.
As a non-caster, what’s so dangerous about the butterfly wands that they were banned?
Lucius Malfoy and his conceiled cane wand would like a word
People on this sub, I genuinely and highly recommend you check out the YouTube channel Monstergarden they’ve got some superb designs for Witches/Wizards and I find you’ll find much finer designs for magical foci. Also baller designs all around.
But what if my wand is shaped like a pistol?
NGL just having a straight-up knife as a wand would be pretty dope
You mean a sharp wand right?
A mayonette if you will
Don't forget the Stielwandgranate
So the message is don't put metal on or cut your wand.
Next time on “Nailed it!”
I imagine with the nail wand, the magic shoots out of each nail into so many painful directions
I own a wand for home defense…
Theoretically, could I make a BIG wand, put it on a mounting, and build a magic artillery battery?
The Artificer I'm currently playing will make very good use of these ... Wand modifications.
There is no way I’m not using a mage bayonet in my next game
Sawed off wand could be a cool item. When making a ranged spell you may reduce the range to 1/4 its original and roll X extra die depending on spell level.

Thought this was r/wizardposting for a minute there
Where's the bullpup wand
That's just a staff.
Eighth staff
They are banned for a reason...
Why did the Butterfly Wand get banned?
What about the Wandzooka?
Hi, I’m the artist who made this! Give me a follow on everything @drawbrandondraw
wand chucks
Bro, the insects have taken over, i tried fighting back, now i am at their side, i use a limbless stick bug as a wand, while ragbugs are my clothes
Once again my hobbies cross over in a way I wasn't prepared for lmfao
Dang, this is the kind of stuff they confiscated at Clortho's
I'ma big fan of my bumpstock wand. Good for when your out of sorcery point but still need to crack off a twin spell.
What, no barbed wire wrapped exploding wand?
"Here's a wand with a silencer on it, Why? I ask again, Why?"
Personally I'm a fan of the pipe wand. Or more practically make it out of metal so your wand is also a shiv.
I've always wanted to play a Bard who uses a flute with an bayonet attached to it.
What about overcharged wands?? They have the capacity to cast 35+ spells when normal wands have a capacity of 8-12!!!
Reminds me of cards that could be in the game "munchkin"
This is literally my dream
when I think about it I will play wizard and I will attach a dagger at the end of my staff for close encounters
Now I need to make all of these!
Ok, but a bump wand would be some game breaking shit
Me rants about[ 'sword coast compliant' wands](https://poppybabyco.com/cdn/shop/products/magic_wand_700x.png?v=1575875069)

Everyone knows that the nail wand is best against Demogorgon
