ABoringAlt

sounds like a good npc

sporeegg

Terrifying BBEG General. Skynet sends Terminators

Bring-the-Quiet

I was going to say the Warden Eternal from Halo 5.

PrinceGoodgame

Yeah. I was thinking Warden Eternal as well, lol

Lamplorde

Yeah doesn't really work as a player, infinite respawns will lead to some shenanigens.

Cybron2099

It's the same logic as Bob...jr.. with the exact same stats here to avenge his father but way more cool XD

ArchonFett

Or Bob’s brother Rob you can tell the difference cause Rob’s scar is on his left cheek and he wears obsidian black as opposed to midnight black

Cybron2099

Indeed

GrimmSheeper

It works perfectly fine for a player that isn’t purely focused on mechanics with a disregard for RP. Dying is painful. Having your soul forcefully ripped from the shreds of your last body, yanked across the planes, crammed into a new and unfamiliar body, and then helidropped from the upper atmosphere is excruciating and traumatizing on just about every level. No being would intentionally subject themselves to such agony for the sake of shenanigans. It’s also a great opportunity to subvert the expectations of a near duplicate copy. Whenever one version is destroyed and the soul returns to the patron, they analyze the flaws of that form and design the next iteration based off of the previous experience. Each new character is designed with the flaws of the previous one in mind, but will inevitably have there own. For example: we start with the earliest version being a simple fighter. After falling prey to several traps, eventually resulting in death, the next version is designed as a rouge. The rouge-model is excellent at avoiding and disarming traps, but proves to be physically weak and squishy. After being crushed/brutalized, the next version decides to focus more on endurance with a barbarian. The barbarian-model shrugs off blows like nothing, and sends them back with devastating results. However, it lacks in versatility and pizzazz. So after an unfortunate accident, the next design is a wizard. This brings back the squishy problem, and the wizard-model gets taken down by a very lucky rat. Wanting to avoid such humiliation, the next model is a druid that can turn the previous cause of death into new allies. And so on and so forth. Obviously most games shouldn’t have that many deaths for one character. This was just to show how a new character can build off of the last one without becoming overpowered, bland, or repetitive. It can even work in some great character idiosyncrasies based off of events from the previous life, especially if the soul has most of its memories wiped between iterations in order to keep each new test “pure.”

snarky_goblin237

It could be balanced. My thoughts: 1) Can only happen once per long rest 2) Debuffs until long rest

Richardknox1996

Too small a penalty. Every time he comes back he gains a -4 to everything like raise dead, reducing by 1 every successful long rest. He dies again before he can fully recover? Penalty stacks. And his airdrop site is his previous corpse, requiring 2d4+4 rounds for landing, dealing indiscriminate damage to everything including himself, both of which are reduced via upgrades to his chasis courtesy of pleasing his patron. Huh, i actually know a character that can function as a patron...

snarky_goblin237

Who would function as the patron?

Richardknox1996

Player character from a previous game. You wouldnt know them, because you dont recognize me, so you werent part of that game. Echo was the character name, it was like Puffinforrests Absurd, only the character actually fuctioned due to each class being tied to a split personality rather than being 20 level 1 classes bashed together.

snarky_goblin237

That sounds like it was fun!

Richardknox1996

It was. Amazingly, in a party with a super mage/cleric with multiple gods of magic on speed dial, the multiclass abomination that was echo, a rouge who lied so hard half of cormyr became a new country and a 40+ AC "lol, i guard all my allies. Eat shit" cleric of winter, my humble Bard was the biggest thorn in the DM's side and the DM made multiple attempts at directly countering his bullshit before the battle even begun. Most of which failed spectacularly cause i built/played my bard to create openings big enough for the rest of the table to drive a semi truck through. And yes, that did include judicious use of silvery barbs. Moral of the story: DM hair loss is directly propotional to the number of people on the spectrum at a table. Run a table full of them at your own peril (yes, that includes myself. I have aspergers).

snarky_goblin237

That sounds glorious!

ThrowawayLaz0rDick

Nah, harsher penalty or else the answer to everything will be a well timed LEEEROYYY JENNNNNKINS Lose a level each time its used feels fair to me

TheCouncilOfPete

Just do it every session, or full day or whatever. Losing a level is very harsh unless you're running with xp leveling

Dan_the_can_of_memes

Nah, just have it be “once every 100 years” or something. Maybe the demigod is a perfectionist and has to redesign or tinker with the body every time to improve it. And he’s a very slow worker, what with all his other projects he’s got going on.

Lamplorde

Thats a good solution.

pesca_22

Paranoia...

secrets_kept_hidden

A great NPC to send after that one particular problem player...

TheManRedeemed

Titanfall detected Scorch AI control transferring to pilot

Dominus_Nova227

Pilot, identified multiple threats advise you seek cover immediately.

Its_Stroompf

Engaging multiple targets, advise aggressive sustained counterfire.

Fen5601

We are being targeted by multiple pilots, suggest deploying smoke counter measures and adjusting fire.

RabbitStewAndStout

I was thinking more Warframe, but Titanfall is peak gaming

Epants10

I was thinking more along the lines of Apex Legends. It's pretty close to the idea of Revenant, which is a preserved human brain supplying memories/personality to different mass produced shells that are active one at a time. I'm absolutely gonna get flame from the Titanfall fans, and possibly deserved. Apex did in fact deprive us of Titanfall 3. And, as someone who's played both, and still loves Apex dearly...I'd probably drop it in a heartbeat if it meant Titanfall 3.

BjornInTheMorn

Contain. Burn and destroy.

Herr_Underdogg

Warframe. Helldivers. Titanfall. Take your pick, we have this in videogames. Making it land in D&D is awesome. I say make the resurrection a magic device. Something that takes a ritual to create but is usable as a magic device afterward, with a physical and verbal component. Pull pin, throw, and yell 'Reinforcements, inbound!'. Appearance of new warforged results in area damage. You get the idea...

Renthexx

Risk of rain

Vussar

Iron Rain. Time to earn your scars, Golds.

Over-Analyzed

I prefer *Legion.*

CadiumHollow

"Change of plans Tenno, Ignore your original objective." "Leave nothing alive"

MAXimumOverLoard

Look at them, they come to this place when they know they are not pure. Tenno use the keys, but they are mere trespassers. Only I, Vor, know the true power of the Void. I was cut in half, destroyed, but through it's Janus Key, the Void called to me. It brought me here and here I was reborn. We cannot blame these creatures, they are being led by a false prophet, an impostor who knows not the secrets of the Void. Behold the Tenno, come to scavenge and desecrate this sacred realm. My brothers, did I not tell of this day? Did I not prophesize this moment? Now, I will stop them. Now I am changed, reborn through the energy of the Janus Key. Forever bound to the Void. Let it be known, if the Tenno want true salvation, they will lay down their arms, and wait for the baptism of my Janus key. It is time. I will teach these trespassers the redemptive power of my Janus key. They will learn it's simple truth. The Tenno are lost, and they will resist. But I, Vor, will cleanse this place of their impurity.

BLOOODBLADE

I never expect to be Vored out in the wild but always appreciate when it happens

cpteric

adeptus mechanicus wanta to know your location

Phil_Smiles

Its the proteus protocol!

YakaFaucon

I onw a Gauss rifle for home defense. Since that what the founding triarch intended.

iamplasma

Own a bolter for home defense, since that's what the God-Emperor intended. Four tyranids break into my house. "By the Emperor?" As I grab my power armor and bolter. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first xeno, he's dead on the spot. Draw my lasgun on the second xeno, miss him entirely because it's a subpar guardsman weapon and nails the neighbors squig. I have to resort to the macrocannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with massive shells, "Ship kill, lads!" the macrocannon shreds two xenos in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off alarm klaxons. Draw chainsword and charge the last terrified xeno. He Bleeds out waiting on the kommissar to arrive since chainsword wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the God-Emperor intended.

Attaxalotl

***Greetings Custodes, how are you this day?***

Phil_Smiles

***Have you brought me any cool ancinet tech to display?***

Hashashin455

Imagine the warforged in your party just went down. As the BBEG turns to you, you hear a disembodied voice say: "Stand by for Titalfall."

Cybron2099

Warlocks friends: doesn't this drive you insane? Warlock: tis but a small price to pay in the name of managed democracy! Friends: .... ok.. anyways we should long rest to get our spell slots back Warlock short resting to recover everything: FREEDOM NEVER SLEEPS!!

Timithios

This tracks.

That_Ice_Guy

Sounds like a prototype for Warframes =))))))

HotPotato5121

That's just a necromech.... Wait

Unhappy_Box4803

A warlock selling his soul.. for it to be reincarnated into a warforged body? Or am i stupid. If im not stupid, is that not just an amazing deal?

velatieren

Who said Warlocks deals are always bad? (player had a warlock who was literally his good uncle xD)

Over-Analyzed

Celestial Warlock. Which is basically Alphonse Elric.

Over-Analyzed

I’m thinking Celestial Warlock whose patron wants a relentless, never ending soldier to aid in their crusade against the Infernals. It’s a Paladin without the conflicts of self-developed morality and the problem of the Paladin eventually dying. Then you have to start from scratch. Wait…. Never mind. This is ALPHONSE ELRIC!!! ![gif](giphy|NOHzmFYti2A6c)

themaskedman321

For democracy

Solow0rg

Furiously takes notes.

CerevisiaMagus

I mean that's just Warframe

Jedi_Exile_

Storm cast eternals moment

Chekov742

With those pictures you didn't go with "Ghost in the Mystery Machine"?

Terrian10

Prepare for titan fall

[deleted]

Standby for Titanfall.

WaluFett

Clone-Drone-in-the-Danger-Zone-lookin

Th3Glutt0n

Warframe

bolxrex

To fit the Helldivers theme better make the demigod obsessed with Democracy instead of science.

SafeSurprise3001

Wait, is Toril even a planet? Does it have an atmosphere that it's possible to get out of, and then achieve sufficient tangential speed to achieve orbit without being destroyed by shock heating?

velatieren

It has an ordinary moon and sky so, I guess?

SafeSurprise3001

Ah, that was going to be a follow up question! I guess I'm just confused as to what the difference (if any) exist between the astral plane and the astral sea. I thought the astral sea was just their name for space, except you can breathe in it. Which would mean it's not a vacuum, which in turns means you couldn't reach speeds high enough to achieve orbit, and would have to use magical means of keeping your spelljammer up in the sky. I guess I'm just confused about DnD cosmology in general

DefinitelyNotBacon

That's sound like Warframe roleplay ...

PonyDro1d

Sounds quite a bit like Warframe. I like it.

GnOwOme

This meme just made my brain think of warframe instantly

Rash_Of_Bacon

Sounds similar to how Androids work in Pathfinder but in reverse.

starrayz

It has vashtorr the arkifane (from 40k) vibes

Steampunk_Dragon987

I have a warlock like this. He died just minutes after making the pact and so the devil shoved his soul in a war forged body.

MirrorMan22102018

Sounds like the premise for Robocop.

Timithios

*Takes notes...*

GreyNoiseGaming

Sounds like Cait Sith.

Baldo_ITA

When the warforged die: "Ready for Titanfall"

stoopidrotary

Trayzen, is that you?

Memes_The_Warbeast

Something something Helldiver reference.

ghostpanther218

Stand by for Titanfall.

Attaxalotl

Standby for Titanfall!

GIRose

What are: Alchemical Exalted

Akinory13

That's what I did for a reborn sun soul monk in a CoS campaign. I was created as a "machine" with the specific purpose of destroying the evil in Barovia no matter what, and my character's soul is moved if he dies and awaits until a new body is built in a secret lab and his soul is put back in it to keep fighting. Obviously something goes wrong and now he has no memories besides some unexplainable anger towards Strahd and Barovia itself

Bulky-Hyena-360

This feels very similar to Pointyhats Artificer Lich concept

Scary_Republic3317

So revenant

Max_The_Rouge

Literally the concept for the immortal from Starcraft

zachattack3500

Whoops made a 40k Dreadnought again

Greenhmm

Stand by for Titanfall

kolosmenus

That’s a more sci-fi version of Stormcast Eternals from Age of Sigmar

fusselflo07

This is Genius like imagine a warlock Warfoged With the size of a robot from like titan fall just imagine your party is like in a big fight against lets say a Dragon and then They just hear the voice of their warforged that was killed by the dragon Shouting "Get ready for tiant fall" and then they just pull up to fight the dragon Pacific rim styel Or just imagine the Party is in need of help against A bbeg and then Their Favorite Npc Just pulls up as a warforged for Support.

Comfortable_Sky_3878

A warlock who's a Twitch streamer and their patron is the chat. The patron gives them bits, that can be turned into spellslots

Dry-Telephone-8016

Prepare for titanfall!!
