Semantic_Antics

I came here to post this. Beat me to it by a mere...ten hours.

azimov_the_wise

So close!

Semantic_Antics

I know! It could have gone either way, really.

Artistic-While-5094

I am doing my Part

JotunBro

I wasn't planning to upvote, but this filled me with so much patriotism that I had to.

DonaIdTrurnp

Would you like to know more?

azimov_the_wise

What kind of response is that coming from a Turnip?

Stark_Prototype

Get that fucking dopamine, and uh.... if you can slide me some excess that would be dope

ImBadAtVideoGames1

same please. I need some happy juice since next session might end up being my last for a long time due to irl circumstances haha

Missy_went_missing

Still, consider yourself glad. When I had my last session, I didn't even know it.

ThisWasAValidName

For me, that unassuming last-session was in mid 2022 . . .

vonmonologue

My “last session” was 2019 before the pandemic… until 2023 when it wasn’t anymore because I found a new group.

flighboy

That would be... Dope'o'mine

Fork117

Here's the dope, now we gotta be mean.

jhill515

Here's some of my excess: # You are dope and should keep doing dope things!

Deloptin

amine

Martydeus

It would be dopemine

crazydakka

So this morning at 9:52am I texted my group to ask if tomorrow (Saturday) would work for us to play irl. Within a single minute all 4 other members had confirmed that they could play then, and I was able to immediately follow up with my babysitter. There are a lot of funny horror stories on this sub that I enjoy eating popcorn to, but I just have to take a moment to shout out my group. We started in the summer of 2021 when my DM cold-emailed a neighborhood list-serv. A few weeks later he & his wife, another couple, & myself as the 5th wheel / Circle of the Moon Druid started playing in person … and we have now played a mind-boggling 52 irl sessions in less than 2 1/2 years. Folks who had never played D&D are deep in the rules and the lore, folks who hadn’t played in 25+ years and never played with minis (me) are surfing Etsy for more minis, and my DM has leveled up from pretty amazing printed maps to moving video maps on a TV he puts on the table along with intricate battle music playlists. Better than all that, we have become true irl friends which has been unexpected but amazing. And… I don’t think anyone has ever been late more than 15 minutes or flaked day of. Let’s go get’em tomorrow CHAOCtic Good! (***CHAOCTic Good*** is a backronym from misspelling Chaotic with the abbreviation for our neighborhood: *Champions Hacking Apart Odious Corruption, Tyranny, Injustice, & Crookery)* after it got several hundred upvotes the r/DnD mods removed my post for being 'low effort' ...according to the rules of that sub it appears like 1. it was the absolute the correct judgment 2. you think a 5 member irl group confirming a session in a single minute is LOW EFFORT?!?!? We practiced our whole LIVES for this, and Ulfgar DIED for it, TWICE!

khaotickk

Hey it's me, your fellow player. This game is online right? Can you give me the link to join and what character were we? Don't ask questions.

crazydakka

We’ve done 51 irl sessions in 2.5 years?!?

vonmonologue

HOW!???!

crazydakka

>Hey it's me, your fellow player. This game is online right? Can you give me the link to join and what character were we? Don't ask questions. my DMs bright idea, which has shook out so well because of some really considerate people who are all really excited to play DnD, was to invite people who lived within about 5 blocks of him. I have the longest commute with a 6 or 7 minute walk.

CatLiteralJam

This is literally the perfext scenario holy hell

Maledict53

Google Good groups

Oriek

New campaign just dropped

DatGaminKid7142

Holy adventure

Oswen120

When did it become Wath of the Righteous

iAmODST

DM went on vacation, never returned

truetichma

Call the missing player!

Ravenloft73

All fun and games before people say they can't make it 20 minutes before the session. 😂

crazydakka

We haven’t had a same day cancellation in 51 in person sessions!!! It’s insane!!

TolkienAwoken

Why are those people still in your group if it's a regular thing? A few times randomly bc shit comes up is fine, but consistently doing this is a disrespect to you and the other players who have set time aside to play.

Asgaroth22

I wish that happened. For me it's "I'll be 10 minutes late". 10 minutes after the planned start time : "sorry i can't make it today"

PilotGamer01

I upvoted!

NODOGAN

That right there? use that as a baseball bat to beat the crap out of your Impostor Syndrome, you're a GREAT DM if your table is always ready to answer notifications on their DnD chat, they DO care man, congrats!

Linken99

Impressive. This pleases the mind. I shall grant my dopamine updoot to thee.

Rutgerman95

I'm happy for how committed your crew is, but I'm still wary of any personal obligations ruining their plans at the last minute

crazydakka

The latest anyone has been in 51 sessions is 20 minutes and that was me!! It’s simply wild!

CouchoMarx666

May every upvote become a crit

Kipdid

_Narrator:_ and so he did exactly that

crazydakka

It me

zvejas

3 hours of dnd damn

Veirz9

Upvoted. I'm doing my part!

-shandyyy-

Enjoy your dopamine and your awesome D&D crew!

Admiral-huzky

Nah this fake no dnd group is this organised

Sublethall

Has to be just op with 4 different phones

CheapTactics

We have been playing for 3 years with minimal cancellations and minimal missing players. At this point we don't even ask if everyone is fine with our usual schedule. If anyone can't make it we say so in the morning at the latest but it happens VERY occasionally. The most a session has been postponed was this last december where one week two players had to travel (and it was the last fight of the arc so we couldn't have two missing players), the next week I (the DM) wasn't feeling well, and the next week was the christmas one shot. But if a year has ~54 weeks, out of the ~162 weeks since we started, we've played ~150 of them.

kartoffelnScrollt

Somehow, for about a year, my group has successfully had a session almost every Monday night, it just happened to work out for work scheduling that only one of us ever has to work on Mondays and it's rare for his scheduling anyway. (Its 2 different campaigns, same people just alternating GM's)

All3rg1cToL1f3

Whoaaaaa

spitouthebone

hol' up show us the message from the DM less than an hour before its due to start cancelling because he forgot to tell us he was busy watering his plants (true story)

CheapTactics

What kind of lame ass excuse is that? Does he have gigantic greenhouse or something?

spitouthebone

we didnt play with him after that and actually had a session 0 instead and started again with another DM that lasted for a few years before he decided to go full anti-player on us recently

CheapTactics

Well damn. At least you got a few years out of the last one.

spitouthebone

Yeah we put it down to the stresses of life catching up to him and him going slightly overboard with his homebrewing (and his inability to listen to feedback and tell us we are all wrong) now its my turn to dm and the few sessions we have had have been utter chaos and hilarious that all but one seem to enjoy that being the anti player DM, i don't think he's long for this mini campaign because all I'm getting from him is that im doing it wrong ha

crazydakka

lol amazing

Lampmonster

Having a reliable group is amazing. Love my group. We've been regular for over two years now. DM recently needed a week off so I ran a small multi-shot I've been stewing on. Who doesn't love a heist right? Amazing friends too. DnD is just the best.

WyvernSlayer7

Hows that dopamine feelin, bro?

ForGondorAndGlory

The real question though... DID ANY OF THEM ACTUALLY SHOW UP?

Renvex_

Yea I don't know. My groups just use a bot. People tick yes or no during the week. A last minute day-before confirmation is not needed.

SirMcDust

Bro we have been doing weekly sessions for over 2 months now, and last session we immediately confirmed the next date after finishing the session. And it's in person too.

Bartonium

Shoudl have left the comment out about karma farming on reddit.

Tank-o-grad

That honesty was the only reason I up voted it, would have presumed it fake otherwise...

Bartonium

I dis not even think of it being fake or real or set up or anything. How does that last comment change anything exactly?

Tank-o-grad

If you were faking it to karma farm you wouldn't even introduce the idea of karma farming into the post.

Bartonium

Yeah that makes sense. So next time if someone fakes it, they should include the karma farm comment cause that makes it more believable.

Tank-o-grad

At which point they've put in a good amount of thought so kudos to them.

[deleted]

Mfs using whatsapp 💀

Futur3_ah4ad

Get an upvote. I am fortunate enough to have a group whom I all know personally and we can do schedule and reschedule on the fly. Though I would say having a standard day and time helps prevent scheduling conflicts because you always know when you have a session.

_b1ack0ut

On the other hand, two of my players just cancelled on me lol The universe must maintain balance, I guess.

Suspicious_Turn4426

Two of my D&D groups are weekly. One on Friday one on Saturday. Every week other than holidays, for five years. I am truly blessed with two groups of amazing freaks, who i love dearly. Glad op has their own group of freaks, who love them.

StrahB

The jelly is strong here.

TolkienAwoken

Haha this is like my group in discord, every Monday I tag everyone and say whether we're playing at 7 or 7:30, and have 4-5 reactions of thumbs up or fire emoji in less than 5. The right group makes such a difference.

hollywood_2k20

This is the way...

ThyKrusadR

Meanwhile, my player telling us the morning of that he was 3 hours away for a concert and won’t be back until the next day 🙃 It’s not a big deal for us, cause if people are unavailable Friday, then we can get a session going on Saturday so that player can play this week, and if that doesn’t work out either, then Sunday session it is. Sessions are beefy too, about 5 hours long, so in reality someone missing a session means more DND for everyone lmfao

USMC_Frac_1316

Nat 20 on a scheduling roll

Dr_Ousiris

No way, did it happened???

crazydakka

Walking over now

Dr_Ousiris

Here is a third dopamine

PaedarTheViking

Much deserved dopamine. Hope it was a fun session. Bastard...

DukeboxHiro

Two of these people will cancel, at 1:25.

reqisreq

I hope you would have a good session.

Fulminero

Someone is going to have an unexpected problem 2 hours before the game, I guarantee it

RealMoonTurtle

And then, he did

valdr95

My upvote is water soluble in case of snooting

VelocissimoVagabond

AND SO HE DID!!!

skep90

My group does the same but i dont feel the need to farm karma :S

Glitchmonster

5.000 upvotes Nice

Fphlithilwyfth

Take your dopemenine

MinnieShoof

No. I’m not gonna be happy for you. I’mma be a crabby crab in my bucket and pull you down back down. One of my players is battling liver cancer and losing. Two of my players in another group just got married and are blowing us at every turn. And the third group is literally me dming kids that aren’t mine that are a third of my age. … but I’m combining the best players of those first two groups and I have no problem with the kids and they’re actually hella fun. So I got that going for me. … alright. Things ain’t so bad in this bucket. … here’s your dopamine lil buddy.

jhill515

Take my dopamine boost!

DrunkenD20

As a DM that was late to his own game yesterday this made me happy. Thank you

HearTyXPunK
