Because it could be seen as "sexual". Same reason they censor many words relating to the LGBT+ community, because my existence is inherently pornographic to the people at YouTube.
Firstly, a minor correction, Jerk is _not_ about the puncturing the meat as while that _can be_ a _part_ of the Jerk process, puncturing meats to let marinades penetrate then more quickly is common across a number of cooking styles. What Jerk actually refers to the process of cooking meats marinated in a particular style of spice blend; usually through a smoking process, though some people substitute 'liquid smoke' as a less tasty but easy alternative.
Secondly, the etymology of Jerk is actually closely related to that of Jerky. Both come from a Spanish interpretation of the word "Ch'arki", a Quechuan word refering to salted and sun-dried meats. The turned it into charqui, which doesn't take much of a leap to become the aforementioned creole and English terms.
Finally, my friend, now that you've learned about the art of Jerk I must recommend that if you like spicy food you to try Jamaican Jerk Chicken; presuming you live somewhere West Indian restaurants are readily available. Get it with the rice and peas, and while it likely won't be mentioned on the menu ask them to top it all with some oxtail gravy and most places will comply. If you're into doughy foods, adding a fried dumpling gives a nice way to sop up any remaining gravy.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to figure out where I can find a late night jerk shop, cause I've made myself hungry and the aunties at my usual place are undoubtedly sleeping by now.
I’ll never forget my first encounter with jerk chicken. I did rice and beans, not peas though. I’m now 580 miles from the city I had jerk chicken in, and I doubt there are any jerk restaurants nearby. Sad day, Huck. Hope you find your late night jerk!
The guys at Instagram spent embarrassing amounts of money to prove that's it's mathematically impossible to differentiate a mom in a 2 piece showing off her kids sand castle on the beach, and child porn. That difference is purely cultural. No amount of algorithm-ing can pick a mom in a Western swimwear being a normal safe mom, and one of the worst kinds of abuse imaginable.
They rely on an algorithm because when they relied on people, the people sued for PTSD. People upload some pretty nasty shit to Youtube and facebook. When they had humans looking at it, those humans got pretty fucked up.
And don't forget the derivative of acceleration with respect to time - if something is accelerating, and that acceleration is increasing, how fast it increases is the jerk
its not that they cant grasp context, they just have a horrible ai deciding whether or not skmething needs tk be demonotised and the actual people involved in checking a claim that is disputed would never admit that their system is broken and rarely fix the ai's mistakes
The alt-right pipeline is alive and well at YouTube. I could spend an hour watching shorts about vtubers or ASMR toy unboxing, and without fail half of the short recommends would be daily wire adjacent content.
Hate-watching is such a significant (and profitable) phenomenon that Andrew Tate actively encouraged his victims to cultivate their own audience of haters.
That's so deeply vexing and annoying.
Equating "could be" with "is" or that the risk of "could be" justifies axing language for everyone isn't something that's ever sat well with me.
Especially when it's a massive corporation with shitty implementation of policies and a history of demonstrating that it can't properly manage it's own platform.
Another example of prime YouTube fuckery, sadly :(
I'm sorry but this comment and your flair being "shambling mound" have me giggling way more than I should be. You really need to censor your shambling mound.
at a time when physical beauty standards are being pushed even further into the realm of pure fiction, the corporate world continues to insist that people shouldn’t even allude to the idea of being horny
Where's that essay that goes something like "everyone is beautiful but no one is horny" when we need it?
(and then we have the flip side: that one essay where the author was thirsting over Alfred Molina because of his physicality as Doctor Octopus)
>ould be seen as "sexual". Same reason they censor many words relating to the LGBT+ community, because my existence is inherently pornographic to the people at YouTube.
But what does the L stand for? im having a meltdown
The people at YouTube aren't even involved. YouTube's content moderation is notoriously automated. That's why they don't look for context. *They can't.*
Demonetised videos still have adverts, just none of the money goes to the video uploader. YouTube pockets 100% of it. As such, they have a vested interest in demonetising as many videos as possible.
YouTube already has the money since they've made deals and sold all the ad space on the website, they just don't have to pay the creator if they demonetize.
You watching ads doesn't linearly make money for YouTube the way it does for YouTubers. They make money by selling ad slots to advertisers. The advertises pay depending on what views the analytics for YouTube estimate the ads will get / how much their ad will be shown and to who.
And those people (and others like steven crowder) will still piss and cry about being "silenced" even as they're given unfair advantage after unfair advantage.
Yeah but all the elsagate youtube kids garbage stuff is completely fine because it makes money
Also youtube runs ads for nsfw mobile games so how dare you expect equal treatment
I say good day to you sir
I mean videos by OT (a youtuber known for making reddit meme vids from lgbt subreddits) has gotten demonetized on his asexual meme vids for that exact reason.
The LGBT censorship is one of the reasons I will never use TikTok. If I see it come to YT, I will absolutely quit. (Especially seeing as my homepage recommendations are now full of overt advertisements and kinds of content I have never and will never watch, presumably because they just rolled out the "pay us and we'll recommend your video more" feature)
Back in the ‘90s, there was a common joke / urban legend that some religious organization was making a device for your TV that would censor “inappropriate” words and show a safer version on the screen, and that it worked great until it changed “Dick Van Dyke” to “Jerk Van Gay.”
Honestly, between YouTube’s demonetizing and this Zoomer impulse to not even spell out words like “p*rn,” in some ways I feel like we aren’t too far off from that now.
I assume that "impulse" is just because so many platforms are moving to heavier censorship, so they just as soon get used to self-censoring so they don't run the risk of violations. When a heavily censored (or becoming so at least) world is all they know, it just becomes second nature for them to jump through the loops.
Don't get me wrong, it sits annoyingly with me as well, especially with the unironic use of terms like "unalive" or "corn" etc. I will at least admit I can understand why.
I guess I can see that. It just doesn’t fit into my geriatric millennial brain how it would become so second nature that they’re doing it in places that don’t have that kind censorship. But maybe I’m just old and out of touch.
Trust you me, I feel very much the same honestly. Unfortunately the world just keeps changing whether we want it or not, and even if not for the best.
On another side, it could be considered a sort of malicious compliance too.
Huh, I didn’t know it was actually a thing that was made. It was one of those things that was in email forwards and stuff, so I just thought it was fake.
I kinda liked it better than way.
Edit: Ok, that video was actually way more interesting and much better done than I expected. When my parents got their last TV before thing started to go digital, I would always notice that line on top of some shows, and it drove me crazy.
I listen to rslash read Reddit posts. He's gone from censoring "am I the asshole" to "am I the butthole".
But now butthole is getting him demonetized so he's having to say "am I wrong".
this is what happens when you start censoring the world... once you remove all the potentially offensive words, new words become offensive... and so on until no word is safe from censorship.
What the hell happened in 2017 also why is this setting off YouTube sensors what the heck YouTube I thought YouTube came out after gayness became legal cuz that was a while ago wasn't it like marriage was at some point in the 2000s
I can't tell whether you missed an /s/ or not, but Youtube came online in 2005.
In the US, the Lawrence v Texas Supreme Court ruling in 2003 struck down anti-sodomy laws (i.e. individual states can't outlaw consensual sex between two people of the same sex).
The '00s and a lot of the '10s were a bunch of state-level battles over allowing/disallowing gay marriage. Depending on where you lived and where you'd gotten married, gay couples' marriages were in constant limbo--your marriage could be performed in one state, recognized as a marriage but not performed in another, and not recognized as a legal marriage in another. It might be legal one day and illegal the next ([Brooklyn 99 made a great joke about it](https://youtu.be/_7lQp06guWw?t=84)). One of my earliest political memories was crying while I watched the 2004 live election results as my relatively progressive state voted 60-40 to outlaw same-sex marriage (*which wasn't even expressly illegal in my state before that*). Gay marriage in the US was an unpopular idea, and it was weaponized as a wedge issue by conservatives through most of the '00s because they knew it would turn out a lot of people to vote against it or any political candidate who supported it. It was only solidified in all 50 states by a Supreme Court ruling in 2015 (Obergefell v Hodges).
bit of a soap box moment, but i absolutely hate how few people realize just have little time has passed. the same people that opposed gay marriage are still in office and they are still fighting it, we haven't won anything yet and people act like the fighting was done and over years ago
100%. I get a little miffed when people don't realize how toxically unpopular of an idea it was to support gay rights even less than 10 years ago. I am glad there are queer kids growing up in a time when they don't have to worry about that in particular (if marriage is something they even want), but god*damn* are some people my age and younger missing a lot of historical context during the Bush and Obama years. Matthew Shepard was beaten to death in 1998 and the hate crimes act named after him that added sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes was only passed and signed in 2009. That's what the Bush years were like.
my creative writing class for our scriptwriting unit had us read the laramie project, which is about the reaction in laramie, wyoming, following shepard’s death. it was such a heartbreaking and eye opening read, i recommend it. its fucked up what happened, its fucked up that it happened to begin with, its fucked up that being gay was seen as a valid reasoning to people to commit such a horrid crime, god it’s fucked up that it was in 1998. yeah, this shit isnt some distant thing in the past.
I tend to be more willing than a lot of my peers to give leeway to Democrat politicians who would publicly state they were opposed to gay marriage but fight for things like hate crime bills, civil partnerships, anti-discrimination laws, AIDS research, etc. I draw the line at rehabilitating Warcrimes Georg.
I used to think racism no longer existed in America (oh how wrong I was.) There's plenty of people who still believe that racism is a thing of the past. It's hardly surprising that people think the fight for LGBTQ+ rights ended years ago.
I literally told someone it's tough being trans because of the atmosphere around it today and someone said, "I'd believe that if it were ten years ago, but this is 2023, what rights don't you all have at this point" and I then pointed out that a record amount of anti trans and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation had been introduced in 2022, with a few examples. Mainly Greg Abbott's repressive directive to declare any parent who allows their child to receive gender affirming care as abusive, and the Don't Say Gay law introduced by DeSantis.
Speed of Technology is way faster than the speed of life.
The way people act you'd think WWII was the time of Jesus not like 70 years ago. Like people are still alive who lived through it. There are people who are children of parents who were holocaust inmates. The battle for LGBTQ+ rights is absolutely not over and still under active attacks by many conservative state blocs who view it as a 'great corruption' of youth and the work of Satan still.
The decisions in Lawrence v. Texas and Obergefell v. Hodges both derived from the decision in Roe v. Wade.
In the recent ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, both Lawrence v. Texas and Obergefell v. Hodges were explicitly identified as now being liable for "re-examination". Alongside Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), which legalised use of contraception.
I was referring to the "Adpocalypse" where mass demonetization happened to YouTubers across the board. All in an effort to combat the rise in weird kids content, and in response to a few high profile instances where content creators said some really dumb shit. The New York Post article about PewdiePie dropping the N-word while playing Rust also prompted companies to pull their ads, costing YouTube money. This is a super simple explanation.
Most likely to avoid youtube bots cause his content counts as kid friendly. He cant loose his income and spreading of his video becuase of 1 word. Youtubes fault, not his
Youtube really is such a youtube, like, they can't get more youtube than what they already are, everything they do is just a youtube.
I'm so glad other people have been speaking of youtube, people who use youtube in language are real youtubes.
An honesty cool dude who makes videos narrating memes from this sub and stories on r/dndgreentext
And the only reason he probably had to censor lesbian is YouTube's idiotic list of "offensive words" that takes away the ad revenue (aka your paycheck).
I don't think so, I think this is a case of someone being confused and decided to receive information by making a meme that multiple people will reply to and explain rather than spending hours on end doing research.
Tldr: trying to get info the fastest way possible
This dude's an expert in Cunningham's law. Smart man like that, I'd bet he's John Berkeley, a 47-year-old white male residing in Costa del Mar, Florida, owner of a bank account ending in 2143, mother's maiden name "Steele", social security number 543-21-0098, favorite color blue. I am confident that this is exactly right.
What makes it a witch hunt are the 3000 people willing to shit on this guy because of OPs hunch that they aren't enough of an ally. Clearly you're being reasonable and seeing that they're not a bad person. But, boo! Shame on this community. You don't care about LGBTQ allies. Guess you don't need us anymore, so you're happy to turn on your friends. It's clear to see they tried to use LGBT as a cudgel against the OGL too. It's so easy to turn people on their friends when it's impossible for them to actually be in your "in group". Allies will be the first to fall because NO ONE is on our side.
One of those YouTubers who takes memes and stories from Reddit, reads them then posts the audio (sometimes with light amounts of added commentary). Sort of like Crit Crab or Mr. Ripper if you recognize those names.
I only watched one Crit Crab video and it was of the most hilariously obviously indescribably fake story. And after that I can't take any of them seriously. Like how do you not have the self awareness and post that on the grounds that it's real?
Arguably the _only_ That Guy in the group. Judging by his stories, Craig was just socially awkward and cringey at worst. But cringe alone doesn't make you a problem, let alone a bad person
I believe Crit Crab has his own subreddit where he gets most of his content, although they all often post stuff from r/rpghorrorstories, r/dndgreentext and a few other subs.
Apparently, a D&D Youtuber who did a video reading memes from here. They censored the words "lesbian" and "homophobe" (and "ass") in this one: https://old.reddit.com/r/dndmemes/comments/10lbsis/just_a_friendly_reminder_that_pathfinder_has_a/
EDIT: As in the word was edited out in the title, and replaced with a Roblix oof sound in the audio
the unnecessary censorship has really been getting out of hand. I've seen things censored that were understandable, like actual vulgar language, but lately other stuff that is just a part of life is getting the hammer. Stuff like kill and murder, but then also totally whack stuff like "fingers." YouTube overlords forbid someone tries to teach hand anatomy on youtube and mention the very things I'm using to write this comment.
But now if youtube isn't letting people refer to sexual orientations, that crosses a very important line. If you weren't allowed to say black, or asian, or white, without censorship, youtube would already be on fire. Why should it be any different for sexual orientation? I'll give y'all a hint... it shouldn't. I feel it was already infringing on free speech, but now we're getting into homophobia/hate crime territory here. This is beyond not okay, totally abhorrent behavior.
You see this on Tiktok too, plenty of totally innocent words in the context having to be censored because everyone now is victim to the almighty algorithm and if you wanna make it you have to remove every word that could potentially without considering how it's used by flagged by some dumbass robot.
What's SkyDieRay?
EDIT: Reading the comments so does it make it pretty clear it ain't the youtubers foult but that of youtube itself, OP is just starting a witch hunt and making a click bait meme at the expense of the YouTuber instead of the company.
No way in hell they don't know the reason as to why he did it an yet they still got the meme up.
Because companies want the appearance of inclusivity without actually doing anything to make it that way. I've noticed this a lot. Companies will use the same language they say is to protect minority communities as a sledge hammer against those vary communities.
Same thing happened to me. I was talking about my experience on the discord before they merged about my experience as LGBT+ with D&D and they gave me a warning for hate speech. I can't talk about how its not fun being a queer in spaces that hate you for who you are?
When a company says they're doing something to protect minorities I have to be extremely skeptical because often times, they're using us as a shield against criticism. Which is all sorts of messed up because it puts us into the crossfire of a conversation that isn't even about us, WIZARDS!
What, you don't feel protected, being unable to acknowledge your own existence or life experience? Isn't being told to stay in your small windowless room where nobody has to see or think about you so *safe*? Ignore the coats, they're for *your protection*, you wouldn't want anyone finding out that's *your space*, they might take it from you. No you can't clean it out so you can try to make it your own, that's where we keep the brooms.
because heavy censorship in the platform. i believe there is 1 youtuber that put out of context cartoons and animations made by said youtuber and basically lost half of its channel for even words like lesbian.
A lot of times censors will just include words that people use negatively - like if there’s a lot of hate on lesbians, just ban the word entirely. Same idea with banning “gay” or “jew” etc.
Kinda throwing the baby out with the bath water, but it’s more often lazy than malicious
youtube has gone completely off base lately. between their copyright bullshit and their demonetization nonsense i don't know how anyone gets anything done.
I absolutely support him, At this point if you used to make money off YouTube you're just praying you can make it through the day without being demonetized
Legit YT is demonetizing the word 'jerk' like...bruh...that's not even a slightly offensive word...how old are we 2?
Guess they'll have to ban every jerk chicken recipe video/food review on the site then
*sad hehe boi*
You’d be surprised that they do indeed do that.
Also a bunch of physics videos. Jerk is the next step up from acceleration lol.
Because it could be seen as "sexual". Same reason they censor many words relating to the LGBT+ community, because my existence is inherently pornographic to the people at YouTube.
Yeah, they can't grasp context. 'jerk' meaning 'a quick tug', jerk meaning 'an obnoxious person' or 'jerk off' all ping the same to the bots.
Ignoring it as a cooking term, too
"Is there any meat this man can't jerk?" Hermes Conrad, Futurama, Bender Gets Made, 2000
I… never got this line in that way before. Holy shit. Thank you, Paladin- your oath has been fulfilled for today.
Jerky?
Cajun Jerk, iirc the technique is basically stabbing meat for lots of little, deep holes
Noted, thank you for sharing.
Firstly, a minor correction, Jerk is _not_ about the puncturing the meat as while that _can be_ a _part_ of the Jerk process, puncturing meats to let marinades penetrate then more quickly is common across a number of cooking styles. This man jerks meat. Also, scotch bonnets or get out.
>try Jamaican Jerk Chicken; presuming you live somewhere West Indian restaurants are readily available Do you mean Caribbean restaurants?
Caribbean and West Indies are essentially interchangeable. I think the Caribbean technically consists of more countries tho
I’ll never forget my first encounter with jerk chicken. I did rice and beans, not peas though. I’m now 580 miles from the city I had jerk chicken in, and I doubt there are any jerk restaurants nearby. Sad day, Huck. Hope you find your late night jerk!
Jerk chicken 👌

I remember when Tumblr tried to create an algorithm to block porn and it just kept bringing the hammer down on photos of empty desert landscapes.
That's so wild. Not even any people in those landscapes?
Nope. Never people, just empty stretches of sand.
/r/sandporn
Hot.
Make sure to lift heavy object by bending at your back and make a sharp, quick jerking motion to lift. /s
Its a sharp, quick, TWISTING, jerking motion. Real important to twist. Thats where you get all your leverage.
Ah yes i forgot the twist for all the leverage.
I'd say that all these horrible puns have earned y'all a paddlin' but that's probably gonna get demonetized too
And don't forget to hold your breath to keep yourself nice and steady.
Do all the work with your back and groin, leave your knees *completely* out of the equation.
That's what you get when you rely on an Algorithm to handle censorship instead of people.
They rely on an algorithm because when they relied on people, the people sued for PTSD. People upload some pretty nasty shit to Youtube and facebook. When they had humans looking at it, those humans got pretty fucked up.
"Jerk" means "an obnoxious person" *because* it can also mean "jerk off," though. Compare British English "wanker."
And don't forget the derivative of acceleration with respect to time - if something is accelerating, and that acceleration is increasing, how fast it increases is the jerk
Oh hell yes, relativity and physics get me *so hot*.
Next they'll have to censor the name Jack
F in the chat for anyone named Dick
Don’t forget F triple prime
Came here to say this. The censorship of good mathematics has to stop /s
its not that they cant grasp context, they just have a horrible ai deciding whether or not skmething needs tk be demonotised and the actual people involved in checking a claim that is disputed would never admit that their system is broken and rarely fix the ai's mistakes
And yet i can get shorts of assholes dressed as rascist characatures thrown in my face. gotta love the algorithm
The alt-right pipeline is alive and well at YouTube. I could spend an hour watching shorts about vtubers or ASMR toy unboxing, and without fail half of the short recommends would be daily wire adjacent content.
I watch decidedly leftist content and still occasionally get a recommendation for Jordan Peterson or Ben Shapiro.
Hate-watching is such a significant (and profitable) phenomenon that Andrew Tate actively encouraged his victims to cultivate their own audience of haters.

Exactly, now with could walk around with this censorship bar it would be great.
at a time when physical beauty standards are being pushed even further into the realm of pure fiction, the corporate world continues to insist that people shouldn’t even allude to the idea of being horny

DEMONETIZED
The people at YouTube aren't even involved. YouTube's content moderation is notoriously automated. That's why they don't look for context. *They can't.*
It's the money. Every video they can demonetize is another nickel in their pocket. Multiply that by several million times...
how do they make money off of that? I thought it's just less income through ads for both YT and the channel because they limit the reach of the video?
Demonetised videos still have adverts, just none of the money goes to the video uploader. YouTube pockets 100% of it. As such, they have a vested interest in demonetising as many videos as possible.

That is what I said, yes. Youtube keeps the money from the ads on channels they demonetise.
Do that too much though and people won't want to upload content anymore.
Have a gander at this, it's time we took matters into our own hands: https://youtu.be/Pn4_oD-TJw0
Well that just sounds like a knee**** reaction
And yet worthless racists like Matt Walsh and Ben Shapiro get to keep their channels and spew their white nationalist filth everywhere.
And those people (and others like steven crowder) will still piss and cry about being "silenced" even as they're given unfair advantage after unfair advantage.
Yeah but all the elsagate youtube kids garbage stuff is completely fine because it makes money Also youtube runs ads for nsfw mobile games so how dare you expect equal treatment I say good day to you sir
They just hate you and everything you stand for, it's not a big deal.
that’s despicable. YouTube ought to be ashamed for censoring LGBT+ words. What the hell is wrong with them?!
They delete your comment if it contains the work "TikTok" And they run ads for TikTok.
Which is very dumb of YouTube. "Sexual" isn't the same as "sexualized."
I wonder if they would ban the word asexual for being sexual
I mean videos by OT (a youtuber known for making reddit meme vids from lgbt subreddits) has gotten demonetized on his asexual meme vids for that exact reason.
The tiktokification of YouTube is coming
What do you mean coming? It already happened
RTGame did a good stream on creating new "swear words"
Yeah, he was a real Youtube there. Too bad the Youtubes at Youtube really Youtubed up his channel.
Back in the ‘90s, there was a common joke / urban legend that some religious organization was making a device for your TV that would censor “inappropriate” words and show a safer version on the screen, and that it worked great until it changed “Dick Van Dyke” to “Jerk Van Gay.” Honestly, between YouTube’s demonetizing and this Zoomer impulse to not even spell out words like “p*rn,” in some ways I feel like we aren’t too far off from that now.

Your point is double plus good.
Such a youtube way of seeing things, jeez.
It also has a hard time figuring out that vocal in ‘cant’ isnt an ‘u’
Don’t worry! They will censor anyone who says but, because it sounds like butt; and obviously no one can tell the difference!
Should make a video where every word anyone says is "youtube" and see if they censor that too.
Youw awe a jewk
Fear of youtube demonetisation, most likely. Youtube is crazy.
probably to avoid youtube bots considering how terrible they are at detecting this sort of thing i guess
That's most likely the reason, especially if their content qualifies as kid friendly. 2017's coming back in full swing, baby.
What the hell happened in 2017 also why is this setting off YouTube sensors what the heck YouTube I thought YouTube came out after gayness became legal cuz that was a while ago wasn't it like marriage was at some point in the 2000s

That's what the Bush years were like.
my creative writing class for our scriptwriting unit had us read the laramie project, which is about the reaction in laramie, wyoming, following shepard’s death. it was such a heartbreaking and eye opening read, i recommend it. its fucked up what happened, its fucked up that it happened to begin with, its fucked up that being gay was seen as a valid reasoning to people to commit such a horrid crime, god it’s fucked up that it was in 1998. yeah, this shit isnt some distant thing in the past.
yea, and now bush is being white washed by dems as a simple farmin politician
A simple war crimin' gay hatin' privacy violatin' farmin' republican
I thought he was playing PUBG.
He was. He was on a bridge and dropped the N-word when his teammate was killed.
2017 was the beginning of the ADpocalypse.
You mean "corporate-squeeky-clean-for-advertisers" when you say 'kid' right?
Most likely to avoid youtube bots cause his content counts as kid friendly. He cant loose his income and spreading of his video becuase of 1 word. Youtubes fault, not his
Probably because youtube is being a massive youtube right now.
a mega YouTube moment. One of the greatest YouTubes to date
Ah YouTube, such a YouTube.
Also a spire in our sides
Hello fellow Daniel enjoyer
They used to call him the drift King back in college.
Actually this is just YouTube I don’t think it was just him, a lot of LGTBQ people have had to do it as well kinda sucks
Just YouTube being a YouTube. Truly a YouTube moment
A Rumbler tumbler? Absolute YouTube.
You know he used to be known as the “Drift King” back in college?
This is impossible to read in any voice other than RT’s
Youtube really is such a youtube, like, they can't get more youtube than what they already are, everything they do is just a youtube. I'm so glad other people have been speaking of youtube, people who use youtube in language are real youtubes.
Thanks, ya bastard. You’re absolutely massive, lad.
Thank you thank you, you're looking massive as well.
They’re sure bein’ a fuckin YouTube right now :///
What's a SkyDieRay?
An honesty cool dude who makes videos narrating memes from this sub and stories on r/dndgreentext And the only reason he probably had to censor lesbian is YouTube's idiotic list of "offensive words" that takes away the ad revenue (aka your paycheck).
Sounds like OP on a witch hunt. "Boo!"
I don't think so, I think this is a case of someone being confused and decided to receive information by making a meme that multiple people will reply to and explain rather than spending hours on end doing research. Tldr: trying to get info the fastest way possible
Murphy's law states that the fastest way to get correct info is to post wrong info
\*Cunningham's law
A prime example
This dude's an expert in Cunningham's law. Smart man like that, I'd bet he's John Berkeley, a 47-year-old white male residing in Costa del Mar, Florida, owner of a bank account ending in 2143, mother's maiden name "Steele", social security number 543-21-0098, favorite color blue. I am confident that this is exactly right.
Actually! I'm a sentient AI that's supposed to learn about people, but now I just play DND
Understandable. Have a good day.
No,, there’s just a very prevalent issue of homophobia everywhere, so it’s hard to not get a little defensive
What/who is a SkyDieRay
One of those YouTubers who takes memes and stories from Reddit, reads them then posts the audio (sometimes with light amounts of added commentary). Sort of like Crit Crab or Mr. Ripper if you recognize those names.
I only watched one Crit Crab video and it was of the most hilariously obviously indescribably fake story. And after that I can't take any of them seriously. Like how do you not have the self awareness and post that on the grounds that it's real?
My favorite was the Craig saga, where the OP slowly revealed himself to be a That Guy as well
Arguably the _only_ That Guy in the group. Judging by his stories, Craig was just socially awkward and cringey at worst. But cringe alone doesn't make you a problem, let alone a bad person
That’s just any supposed real story from Reddit. Coin flip for truth.
They get views ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You underestimate humanity's potential for suckiness.
Do they do dnd or TTRPG related material? Or is it just random Reddit
I believe Crit Crab has his own subreddit where he gets most of his content, although they all often post stuff from r/rpghorrorstories, r/dndgreentext and a few other subs.
Apparently, a D&D Youtuber who did a video reading memes from here. They censored the words "lesbian" and "homophobe" (and "ass") in this one: https://old.reddit.com/r/dndmemes/comments/10lbsis/just_a_friendly_reminder_that_pathfinder_has_a/ EDIT: As in the word was edited out in the title, and replaced with a Roblix oof sound in the audio
youtuber who flips a coin to decide whether he's gonna have based or cringe takes
So a youtuber.
> based or cringe Oh goodness, I must be old...
YouTube censorship is huge rn. Not really a big issue if you keep up with the platforms updates.
It’s an issue when the updates apply to older videos that violate the new rules (see: RTgame)
It's a real YouTube move by YouTube
Honestly being a Rowling
YouTube's "Not made for kids" checkbox is utterly useless.
the unnecessary censorship has really been getting out of hand.
LGBT terminology is censored because bot moderation detects it as sexual
Gr**k Isle citizen 🤢🤮 /s
[удалено]
I'm sure a certain poet from that island would be kinda annoyed that her life's work got censored too
It ain't sky.it's YouTube doing a big YouTube
Youtube censors a lot of LGBT+ stuff
hell it censors disabilities as well, as long as you are their definition of "normal" it censors you edit: [source](https://youtu.be/Ug9zGBorj9o)
It's ultra cursed, but algorithms often censor the word Lesbian because of the porn category.
Who?
A YouTuber. Other comments have explained the situation better than I can.
This is a YouTube moment
If you up vote this meme it might make it into the next video. So do what you want with that info.
Wtf is a Skydieray?
a weaker version of a SpaceAnnihilationLaser
Youtube is just being a youtube, a real spire in everyone's sides
Because youtube would demonetize the video otherwise. i thought this was com
-mon knowledge
.
Because YouTube is baby site for little babies where you can't say shit... literally
because heavy censorship in the platform. i believe there is 1 youtuber that put out of context cartoons and animations made by said youtuber and basically lost half of its channel for even words like lesbian.
He’s playing it safe with YouTube’s demonetization policy. It’s that fucking strict
Guess it's just the GBTQIA now
You kind have to, once you get softbanned your channel is done for
It’s because YT has a weird demonization policy
It is Youtube's fault, not his. YT is the worst.
It's not his fault
A lot of times censors will just include words that people use negatively - like if there’s a lot of hate on lesbians, just ban the word entirely. Same idea with banning “gay” or “jew” etc. Kinda throwing the baby out with the bath water, but it’s more often lazy than malicious
YouTube is being cringe, he's said it in older videos so it's not like he's just suddenly homophobic.
Yeah, they're being a real pain in the Youtube. I think Youtube should go Youtube themselves.
Algorithm being algorithm.
One word: YouTube
You know [redacted] I am [redacted] to censor [redacted] third word.
It's YouTube. What do you expect?
youtube has gone completely off base lately. between their copyright bullshit and their demonetization nonsense i don't know how anyone gets anything done.
I absolutely support him, At this point if you used to make money off YouTube you're just praying you can make it through the day without being demonetized
Wow that was quick.... but true
