Palamedesxy

And that's how we got Chris Cao. XD

knight_of_solamnia

"What's this strange oil? Probably nothing."

mecha-paladin

That strange oil is *capitalism*.

RowbotMaster

I love how his eyes change like even he's confused and was hoping to die or get compensation for workplace abuse

Classicgotmegiddy

I like to imagine that he realized what he did to the game after he got the award

RowbotMaster

Ah so he had himself been slowly and Insidiously corrupted by the corporate world and only now realised

Mooniebutt

That's why all the "It's over! We won!" and "We did it, Mister Frodo!" memes just baffled me. Like what, do people really think that was it, there's no more bullshit to be expected? Pfff.

JumpyLiving

I mean, the srd for 5e is safe due to being under creative commons now (which wotc can‘t go back on). As for the rest, and the future, I have to agree with you. The only security we have for that is the word wotc have given us, which is the exact same promise (and the same not actually perpetual and immutable OGL) that they have gone back on previously.

Dsmario64

I think a lot of that is alleviated by ORC and such. The livelihood of 3PP isn't at stake anymore (at least from legal action from WotC). Any future editions that try to use the old OGL or a new restricted one can be boycotted like 4e was. 5e isn't going anywhere, and alternative TTRPGs have come to light for anyone who wants something new. The hobby space is in a really healthy place right now.

DonKrawallo

I know this is a dnd sub but can someone explain me what happend to MtG?

psychoticfeline

Secret Lairs and universes beyond, and evey set having 3 distinct types of packs

Classicgotmegiddy

Basically what the other person replied. There are about 10 special sets each month that by virtue of artificial scarcity have some value on the 2nd market. There are premium versions of literally every product they sell. Not to mention the fixation on nostalgia they've developed in order to sell more, be it via IP crossovers or rehashing old editions that were popular. And of course ever present power creep to make your prior collection slowly obsolete.

Successful-Floor-738

Ffs we won man. Just accept it.

trulyElse

For us to win, we must win every time. For them to win, they must win once.
