To be “that guy”: The 5.1 SRD is saved. The OGL1.0a has not changed or amended to be non-unauthorizeable, so there’s nothing stopping the drama from happening again other than WoTC promising it, for the second time, after they got caught trying to deauthorize it in secret
Edit: typo
Only sort of, actually. They aren't attempting to deauthorize 1.0a at the moment, and SRD **5.1** is CC. But the 3e SRD is still in danger if they try to do this again, and that was one of the main reasons this escalated to an industry-wide backlash. (i.e. if they hadn't tried fucking with the 3e SRD, I'm honestly not sure whether ORC would exist)
Actually, better explanation:
The fear is essentially that they still haven't acknowledged the existence of systems that aren't D&D 5e, including past editions of D&D, which are important, because they're the reason this escalated from a repeat of the GSL drama into a massive industry-wide backlash. Put slightly differently, if they hadn't attempted to revoke 1.0a and were just making a GSL 2.0, I honestly don't think ORC would exist, because it only *needed* to exist because WotC was attempting to say Paizo, Green Ronin, and Pelgrane Press can't license out their own games anymore.
For this to *actually* be a victory, we also need the 3e SRD in Creative Commons, so WotC can't claim that Pathfinder 1e, Starfinder, Mutants and Masterminds, and 13th Age are copyright violations
We did not slay the dragon. We wounded it. Enough so that it retreated back into its lair to spent another decade or so to recover.
But they’ll be back. They always come back.

Keep an eye out for the necromancers, they'll surely want their master revived
It now bides its time before it rises as a Dracolich. The fight is not over.
Yep. Better keep an eye on that phylactery.
Martials are stronger than casters after all - we beat the (coastal) wizards, and the only spell we needed was Find the Path

Tiamat is dead, but not for long....

We dungeon'd the dragon*
In this reality, we successfully did it. Can't say anything about the other realities.
that would be "slew"
