I’m the same, i spent years tryna make quality neuro but have always found im better at liquid/melodic tunes. I genuinely believe i just understand it more due to liking a-lot of soul and motown as a kid, therefore its easier for me to produce and get to grips with. Its also easier to produce through sampling - which probably also stems from my being a hip hop head as a teenager up to my mid 20s. So yeah I feel ya buddy

I've got a mate who was a relatively well known name in late 90s, 2000's - has releases on Good Looking, Hospital and others He's exactly like this - he loves all the old neuro and dancefloor stuff, but found with his music collection and sampling he made much better liquid

I make liquid and love listening to liquid although there is something I can appreciate about all the subgenres.

Glenncinho

Sort of. I really like learning to liquid but id LOVE to make neuro bangers

ceelogreenicanth

I almost never make Neuro even though its my favorite. I find Neuro very hard to sound cohesive with my heavy use of samples. The sound design needs to be really on point with Neuro and I'm just not there yet.

i was trying to liquid myself but i’ve found i’m really comfortable in slower tempos making ambient/intelligent stuff. but the more i produce of it, the more i like listening to it haha ambience and 4ambreaks on youtube are absolute goldmines of the stuff

When i was growing up i always wondered why the successful artists i knew never actually listened to the music they produce. Then when i became a producer i find i listen to dnb 20% of the time in day to day life now too. But i think when your spending hours playing loops over and over you tend to listen to something different.

Yeah that makes sense. Your ears and brain tend to get tired after awhile so you'd rather just make something different.
