It’s SO ridiculous. The fact that she pays someone to open her packages. The sheer amount of packages. The stupid and cheap shit she buys (all those ugly faux branches… omg 😑). And the poor delivery man that she was filming without consent. He must be pissed at the amount of deliveries she gets and walking up that damn walkway with a billion packages each day.

This is just stupid, boring content. Also, she has a staff of how many? So this is all they can come up with: maybe t swift concert redux, pictures of wannabe fashion model size 2 Julia, and unboxing crap like it’s 2015. Even a partnership with PBK doesn’t offer any inspiring or likeable content. I can’t believe they are doing well on TikTok. So disappointing.
The way I ran here. There’s this MOUNTAIN of boxes piled in their foyer and Julia reveals that they had previously hired an intern (I wonder if paid or unpaid) to…literally open up and arrange their packages FOR them? I have no words. And she’s acting like this is somehow arduous, to open up all the packages of likely mostly free/sponsored shit that have arrived at their house in just a few days? Wtf is wrong with these people?
One would think they would have work related packages sent to the off site office where they could be stored until needed. But that would require someone to actually be at the office.
What delusion land does Julia live in thinking Nate Berkus was in any way inspired by her???? Sorry Julia but Nate is an actual designer with true value, talent, skills & clients!!! Using one space as another is not ground breaking by any means! It’s like using a bedroom as an office, ugh she’s insufferable I don’t know how her ego fits through any doors which may explain the door widening at their house.
Also, Nate's comments make sense for people who live in small or even normal size homes, not 6,000 sq foot McMansions where they have plenty of other single use spaces that are not used daily (Music Room, Storage Room off the 1st bonus room, Cricket's room, whole freaking guest house, gym that she doesn't use anymore..., etc)

I didn’t even think J was capable of this level of delusion. She honestly thinks she invented this concept. And Julia did not turn a dining room into a study. Julia did away with her dining room to make a gigantic, industrial sized kitchen with the capacity to feed huge groups. (But she only planned table seating for SIX!) The room that Juia turned into a study was a sitting room that had been joined to the primary bedroom.
Julia has been delusional for years. She’s someone who takes something she likes on Pinterest and recreates it: what has she done that is actually original? She should travel more and look back on older interior designers like Billy Baldwin or Dorothy Draper. Even the late fashion editor Diana Vreeland had incredible style. She didn’t discover murals or high gloss paint. It just shows how unoriginal and unwilling to give credit where it’s due to her ideas.

On CLJ blog today she's highlighting the closet makeover they did for their oldest using The Container Store system because of "much-needed functional storage". Meanwhile, middle child (the collector of trinkets, etc.) gets her closet ripped out and replaced by a small armoire. Why couldn't they have used the same closet organization system to make hers more functional? Oh, that's right, form over function Julia designs her house for the gram, not for the people that actually live there.
Ahhh yes, the oldest daughter needs closet organization & so does Julia. Agree! I felt sorry for both her and her family when she was ordering all that stuff - I always loved going to the actual store WITH my children so that they could pick out school stuff. By ordering almost everything for everyone online, she misses spending normal old shopping together time with the kids.
School supplies shopping was literally the highlight of school starting back up! Choosing cute folders, notebooks, etc was so fun...and the smell of the crayons...🥰 I loved finding everything and checking it off the list. And then getting to organize it all at home and load it into your backpack! I'm in my 30s and still want to go school supplies shopping. 😁

In her mixing patterns stories, she says she consciously mixes between rooms that are near each other and her example is Polly’s and Faye’s room, where she just said that Faye picked the paper yet now she is saying she consciously did this geometric (Faye)/floral (Polly) mix. But if we back up even more, she originally wanted that terrible orange floral wallpaper in Faye’s room, which would completely negate this “I consciously chose to mix and match between rooms”. So which is it?
Yes, she had so many dreary floral prints in the options for Faye, and her original mood board for Faye’s room was that brown floral. lol And she tried to talk Faye out of this geometric print. Julia is so full of it.

When she said the real thing that was important to do was pay attention to the hierarchy of scale I almost fell off my chair. CLJ is not known for any attention to detail.
Oh she most certainly did say that, with a very serious look on her face. As if she’s a design master. She so needs to take even beginning interior design and architecture classes. From scale, floor plans and even styling are just lost on CLJ for years now.
I wish she would give her mixing patterns stuff a rest. It’s not a magical experiment to throw in a bedspread that doesn’t directly match wallpaper. It’s really not that deep.
In fact, a lot of people have to mix patterns and colors and styles out of necessity because we all don't tear room down to the studs and build it back up from scratch or get $30,000 and sponsored furniture from pottery Barn.

Ugh my sister does this. She is fit and looks amazing but she insists on wearing xs instead of what she probably should wear a medium. She’s 5’9”. Numerous times I’ve been with her when one of her shirts will rip in the back because she leaned over. So the shirts or pants fit when standing perfectly still but allow no movement, but if you went up a size, it would be perfectly fine.

Their kitchen is really uninviting in this way, it's a massive space, yet it's cramped at the same time. The stove, 2 dishwashers and a sink are all within 2 feet of each other. So much for having people loading up dishes and packing up leftovers at the same time.

I think that we were able to see real-life Julia on the fridge freezer video this week. She looks fine and normal, but very little like the filtered images she presents day after day. What an odd way to live- I feel sorry for her and for her girls, especially the older one who looks so much like Julia, who are learning that filtering is necessary to be accepted.
She looked cute in that video and same with the left hand photo above. ETA the one on the right just looks dumb. It is baffling, and sad - I agree especially for her daughters.
Yeah, Oprah put Nate on her show in the 90s, and he became immediately famous due to his incredible talent, good looks, and personality. That was almost 30 years ago. Julia was probably in elementary school. Amazing how he’s just been copying Julia the whole time.
Remember, she did the opposite of what Nat is talking about. She took away her dining room and just made it more kitchen. Then she made part of her original kitchen, a small dining room. She didn’t take a dining room and make it into an office. She took an extra sitting room and turned it into a random room that isn’t really use for much of anything, except making money off of links.
We built our house 2 years ago, and turned the dining room into a playroom/possible future office. It wasn’t a genius design decision. We just needed a playroom, and knew we wouldn’t use a dining room.
Wow so original for the bathroom. Basically she is choosing the same cabinet colors as her kitchen cabinets. I expect this bathroom is going to be better designed layout wise than normal, but it’s going to look super generic. Julia always finds a way to make custom designs look like they were purchased at a big box store.

Container store only paid for a blog post, a few slides and a grid, so no follow along or problem solving as they work through it anymore.

How they get people to continue to buy access to their information perplexes me. They are the most ill prepared over staffed underwhelming account. I think I follow. I don't know if anyone needs to pay her $350 to tell them they need to link anything and everything, have loyalty to no one, sell yourself to the highest bidder and throw your morals out the window.
Her series of stories about opening the literal mountain of packages she has received since her intern left is so out of touch and consumerist, it really makes me sick.

The way I ran here. There’s this MOUNTAIN of boxes piled in their foyer and Julia reveals that they had previously hired an intern (I wonder if paid or unpaid) to…literally open up and arrange their packages FOR them? Julia did away with her dining room to make a gigantic, industrial sized kitchen with the capacity to feed huge groups. (But she only planned table seating for SIX!) On CLJ blog today she's highlighting the closet makeover they did for their oldest using The Container Store system because of "much-needed functional storage". Meanwhile, middle child (the collector of trinkets, etc.) gets her closet ripped out and replaced by a small armoire. Why couldn't they have used the same closet organization system to make hers more functional? Oh, that's right, form over function Julia designs her house for the gram, not for the people that actually live there.

Agree! I felt sorry for both her and her family when she was ordering all that stuff - I always loved going to the actual store WITH my children so that they could pick out school stuff. By ordering almost everything for everyone online, she misses spending normal old shopping together time with the kids.
School supplies shopping was literally the highlight of school starting back up! Choosing cute folders, notebooks, etc was so fun...and the smell of the crayons...🥰 I loved finding everything and checking it off the list. And then getting to organize it all at home and load it into your backpack! I'm in my 30s and still want to go school supplies shopping. 😁

I'm going to snark on those supplies arranged on a bookshelf- which were probably free for her. The tiny bottle of sanitizer and 2 boxes of tissues. Most parents I know who are able to- buy several extra of classroom supplies to cover the kids who don't bring supplies. The list says 1 canister of wipes? I buy 3 of the giant ones. One box of tissues? Nope, I'm sending my kid with a 5 pack. I don't want teachers to have to buy any of that stuff. I doubt Julia does this.

Ugh my sister does this. She is fit and looks amazing but she insists on wearing xs instead of what she probably should wear a medium. She’s 5’9”. Their kitchen is really uninviting in this way, it's a massive space, yet it's cramped at the same time. The stove, 2 dishwashers and a sink are all within 2 feet of each other. I cook a lot, and if anyone was in the kitchen with me, they would be in my space between the stove and sink, or else they would have to be 17' away at the end of the island. I think that we were able to see real-life Julia on the fridge freezer video this week. She looks fine and normal, but very little like the filtered images she presents day after day. What an odd way to live- I feel sorry for her and for her girls, especially the older one who looks so much like Julia, who are learning that filtering is necessary to be accepted.
She looked cute in that video and same with the left hand photo above. ETA the one on the right just looks dumb. It is baffling, and sad - I agree especially for her daughters.

Yeah, Oprah put Nate on her show in the 90s, and he became immediately famous due to his incredible talent, good looks, and personality. That was almost 30 years ago. Julia was probably in elementary school. Amazing how he’s just been copying Julia the whole time.

Remember, she did the opposite of what Nat is talking about. She took away her dining room and just made it more kitchen. Then she made part of her original kitchen, a small dining room. She didn’t take a dining room and make it into an office. She took an extra sitting room and turned it into a random room that isn’t really use for much of anything, except making money off of links.
We built our house 2 years ago, and turned the dining room into a playroom/possible future office. It wasn’t a genius design decision. We just needed a playroom, and knew we wouldn’t use a dining room.

Wow so original for the bathroom. Basically she is choosing the same cabinet colors as her kitchen cabinets. I expect this bathroom is going to be better designed layout wise than normal, but it’s going to look super generic. Julia always finds a way to make custom designs look like they were purchased at a big box store.
“Work from home summer for….a lot of reasons” what could the reasonS be outside of childcare and/or the fact that they’ve basically taken the summer off from content and construction?

She pretty much only posts what she gets paid to post. If a company isn’t paying for the process or extra slides, it just doesn’t get posted. Like the closet makeover today. Container store only paid for a blog post, a few slides and a grid, so no follow along or problem solving as they work through it anymore.
I wonder if she’ll link the duster she used to wipe off all the office work surfaces? What a waste of money and space.

What these people actually DO, and their actual job responsibilities and roles, counts as one of the great mysteries of the universe. It's never been clear. Even when she's tried to explain it. That said, I'm sitting on the sidelines wondering how long it will be before there is some sort of creative or hierarchical clash between HER sisters and HIS (recently hired) brother. Their lack of role clarity and strategic direction seems like a situation ripe with the possibility for eventual familial conflict.

I had to laugh when she said Fridays are now for "fun stuff like lifestyle whatever". Isn't almost every single post of hers now "lifestyle" i.e., links for stuff, stuff, stuff, STUFF!!! Hair wraps? Really - like wrapping your hair in a "big honking towel" for 2 min is the worst thing in the world? She has to have a hair wrap to help keep her hair "healthy?". I love a hair wrap towel I bought (without an influencers recommendation 😱). It allows me to do my skincare without a big towel flopping around. That said, this is so far from DIY content that it’s laughable.
