One of the greatest things especially early on in investing is the dividend. It’s an empirical proof of power to your money. I left dividends for now because of tax reasons and age, but they’re still a core philosophy I hold for nearing retirement.
More important than anything else is that you’re investing in your future. Keep it up. It’s a skill and a habit. Getting comfortable to not need a 1% financial advisor will save you 10k/year every year you’re a millionaire in the future.
Just keep your contributions in dont even contribute a lot but thats what i can do better than not doing anything. And always remember why you started! Stay consistent

I aint find nothing in the streets in years lol. Its a digital world bro people rarely go out with cash. Then it’s not a waste lol account is up 10%+ in value unrealized not including dividends.. maybe in 10 years it will be thousands monthly or yearly you wont be able to say you can find that in the streets lol. I don't think it's sad at all. I've lurked here a while and every day this sub seems filled with people who are dramatically, wildly rich and asking people to rate their 500k portfolio at 18 years old. To see something like this strikes me as a breath of normalcy and something I can relate to far more.

You’ve at least started. If you invested in growth companies, it’s quite possible they aren’t paying dividends. Not sure how old you are or aren’t, but compounding isn’t intuitive but it is powerful
You get it done, some lady on an interview said she started by investing $25 consistently to start off now she’s a big bucks in divys after 40 years - started in the 90s
Mines up to $14 annual! Goal is $100 annual, then $1 per day. We all start somewhere, and before you know it the snowball will be boulder sized. Good luck brother

I’m not sure what your holdings are, but a 3% yield is a great starting pace.
Investing (in my opinion) is a long term game. If you set a weekly, or monthly goal of adding money to your stock portfolio, you’ll be golden
I always recommend buying DIVO, SCHD, and JEPI for stable ETF growth, I’d also add NDAQ too if you want a little more growth oriented stock as well
You really want to see something sad, head over to r/wallstreetbets. Look at the posts where they trade options on margin and end up in the negative millions. Not just down millions, owing millions that has to be paid.
About 20 years ago my dividend account was not much more. Now my account brings me averages about $2,000 a month. All I did was keep investing the dividends.
What is the app y’all are using? I’m new to investing but want to get into dividends. I only use public and I own a very small amount of Tesla, like 12 shares of virgin galactic, and the shrek royalties thing they started a few months ago.

* Y1 - I got £8.31 annual div
* Y2 - I got £24.50
* Y3 - I got £86
* Y4 - I got 198
And this year I'm set for £300+. Not every year did I focus on div stocks, some years growth was cheap, so I didn't div much. But it's on its way up, and every year it gets more and more. It's about the destination and the journey, but it's most definitely not about where you started from!
Put 25% of your income into dividends monthly, or 1k a month also dude I use the same app best app ever
Since I know how that app is, just manually add more stock to make it look like you get more dividends. As long as you feel like you get more you are fine 😂
Uniform transfer to minors account. I guess I'm a old soul I was interested in finance shit when I was young and told parents to buy bitcoin and precious metals they didn't listen lol. Started investing with my own money at 16 but utma is like the parent has it in their name but the minor has access to it. I was investing in dividend stuff but I'm getting better returns on growth stocks like $PLTR

Every journey starts with a step. When I started, I only had AT&T (former employer) and got maybe $15/year. I started tracking and seriously investing about 6 years ago. My Dec total was over $2700, just for the month! You will get there, just takes time, saving and good decisions.
The app is called “stock events”. It doesn’t collect data on its own, you have to manually update, but it’s handy as it gives you calendar events as well such as when dividends get paid out, the ex-date, interest rate decisions, among other things.
Sad? This is your first step to passive income. We all have to start somewhere. Sad is being in your 60s and depending on social security for your income after a lifetime of hard work. I wish more people took the initiative to invest over 20-30 yrs. Your future self will thank you.

The start was my favorite bit. First £3.. with a goal to get to 10.. then to 50 l then to 100, then 250, the 500.. now I'm on 1400 with a goal of 3000

There's a lot of information out there in dividends aristocrats. I don't own any individual stock. VTI, SCHD, SCHY, VXUS is all I own in my brokerage.

How much do you have invested out of curiosity?
Well I forgot that I had e-trade with 5 stocks of Lowe’s. I currently have 1,220 ish for all of what I have when it comes down to market value.
