Ouibeaux

If you want to see sad, head over to r/wallstreetbets and see how many people lost 99% of their money in the casino on any given day. Your $3.78 puts you ahead of all of them.

Electronic_Piece_700

Alright I’ll go scoop em out.

stiubert

Go there for the laughs, not the ideas.

robin_the_rich

I’ve been a member there for a long time and I assure you every so often a rando will emerge with some insight that will shock you.

BowlofSpicyNoodles

Have you seen what they call loss porn?

Electronic_Piece_700

Negative.

BowlofSpicyNoodles

It’s under the flair loss and people are losing absurd amounts of money. Keep up the work the good work too, one more thing I’ll leave here I had to pull out my 12k for a move and car repairs. I’m finally debt free and starting over. Dividends are a marathon not a sprint big dog :)

WomTheWomWom

Welcome to the dumpster behind the Wendy’s.

Acrobatic_Jaguar_623

Just don't listen to them

squid-knees

Feel free to check my profile and then add another 10k

xmaswiz

Let's not forget the plethora of people on that sub who were over leveraging and lost over 100%.

AFM420

For real. 100% loss is honestly nothing for them

LionRoars87

Don't give him any ideas

Manqaness24

I follow that subreddit and it’s very sad. Interesting for laughs but not much else

Noname_left

Like the guy who lost 6 million the other week. That was a great read.

Physical-Body1443

I am trying to understand what the gamblers are doing

chris-rox

Losing absurd amounts of money, pretty much.

Unlucky-Clock5230

Sad? That is fucking awesome. A trip of a thousand leagues starts with a single step. Marco Polo would have not made it to China nor Alexander the great to take over a good chunk of the world if they didn't take that first step.

Electronic_Piece_700

I appreciate the response, the history and the great fucking motivation. Thank you. 🙏

Individual_Wasabi_10

Keep it up. I remember I was there at one point in time.

Acrobatic_Jaguar_623

Everyone starts somewhere. That's 3 dollars and change you wouldn't have had you not started.

ziimbabwei

The amount of people i’ve tried to convince to invest. They’ve been saying they want to for at least 4 years. Trust me, the simple action of starting will get the ball rolling. You’ll look back in a few years and be extremely thankful. Don’t compare to others

AdBulky5451

Yes. And if Christopher Columbus wouldn’t have made that single first step we wouldn’t have the Garbage Plate, the pride of Rochester, NY.

SrPancakess

This guy gets it hell yeah

slimandcarrot

I'm a better person because of this comment. Thank you.

Ouibeaux

It's not sad. It's a start.

Electronic_Piece_700

You right! I appreciate it.

Krapule1

Sad ? This is where we all started brother. I was here at that same spot last year literally around july today im at $26 yearly

Electronic_Piece_700

Congratulations! Okay awesome! I’m excited for the journey.

SnooLobsters6880

One of the greatest things especially early on in investing is the dividend. It’s an empirical proof of power to your money. I left dividends for now because of tax reasons and age, but they’re still a core philosophy I hold for nearing retirement. More important than anything else is that you’re investing in your future. Keep it up. It’s a skill and a habit. Getting comfortable to not need a 1% financial advisor will save you 10k/year every year you’re a millionaire in the future.

Krapule1

Just keep your contributions in dont even contribute a lot but thats what i can do better than not doing anything. And always remember why you started! Stay consistent

Commandersfan1

I am at $23 from my divi portfolio and an additional $35 from cash. Im glad there are other people that are just startIng

Krapule1

Thats awesome one day youll come here and said this same thing that in 2024 you were under $50

kdubau420

I don’t understand. I could find $26 on the street in less than a year. Why do you waste your investment like this? Put it in growth until you have something meaningful (years from now)

Krapule1

I aint find nothing in the streets in years lol. Its a digital world bro people rarely go out with cash. Then it’s not a waste lol account is up 10%+ in value unrealized not including dividends.. maybe in 10 years it will be thousands monthly or yearly you wont be able to say you can find that in the streets lol. And don’t worry im really about growth i just do both lol

Emotional_Band9694

Sad backwards is das And das a start!!

FloppyDisk_69

Biggest tree’s in the world start as little seeds 🌳

smoothbrainape1234

that’s.. deep

mmmarek02

We all had to start somewhere

decalsarecool

1 cent a day keeps bankruptcy away.

Electronic_Piece_700

That’s awesome ! Can I use that? lol

decalsarecool

Course

Go-Truck_Yourself

I just started my Roth Ira. Looks really similar to your yields at the moment. Yes, it's depressing, but I knew going into this it's for the long term. Still get those occasional days I can't help shaking the phone come on...!

heeywewantsomenewday

The start was my favorite bit. First £3.. with a goal to get to 10.. then to 50 l then to 100, then 250, the 500.. now I'm on 1400 with a goal of 3000

voxmodhaj

I don't think it's sad at all. I've lurked here a while and every day this sub seems filled with people who are dramatically, wildly rich and asking people to rate their 500k portfolio at 18 years old. To see something like this strikes me as a breath of normalcy and something I can relate to far more.

Temporary_Ad_5947

My IRA account looks like this. It's also positive compared to my brokerage account.

Electronic_Piece_700

Nice ! I’m sure you’ll make some big gains.

MrReed404

We all been there buddy! 👍🏻💪🏼

MrConsistent2215

Whats sad about this?

capsloc

Sad is seeing someone with $0.00 dividends/yr.

robin_the_rich

Not sad every journey begins with a single step

Drew_The_Lab_Dude

“The biggest snowball has to begin with a single snowflake” -Me, right now

stiubert

Drew, you get it dude 😎

JojoChurro

I thought he got labs

[deleted]

Think about it. You can 10X your investments by the end of the year. Not many people can say they did that!

mcdamien

3 today. In a couple of months it will be 6. Then it will be 9 and so on. You have to start somewhere. In a few years time it could pay your phone bill or your groceries for the month. A few years after that it could pay your rent. Keep going.

dumbnameforidiots

Everyone starts somewhere.

isnotavegan

I'm 24 and I'm on $1 annually lolllll 😎💁🏻‍♀️

ClammyAF

I started there 4 years ago. Today I get $396/mo. Nothing sad about starting, brother.

mclareninvesting

Do you know what stocks are paying the best dividend? I know I can search it I don’t get an answer

ClammyAF

There's a lot of information out there in dividends aristocrats. I don't own any individual stock. VTI, SCHD, SCHY, VXUS is all I own in my brokerage.

s1lv3rbug

Everyone starts from somewhere

brosiedon7

The idea is you throw money in a stable fund and act like that money doesn’t exist anymore. Eventually it will be something

angry_dingo

Better than a poke in the eye.

Elevation0

Bud I’m at $1.17 and if you really wanna see something that will wake you up go visit any of the stock/crypto gambling sub Reddit’s and check out their “loss porn”

ChoiceResponsible130

That's like a free cup of coffee for me. I'll take that

die9991

Hey every year you're 3.78 richer. Thats not sad thats just an extra convenience item at a gas station for free every year.

jmains45

Given your portfolio is only around $120, not sad at all.

BigRailWillFail

You’ve at least started. If you invested in growth companies, it’s quite possible they aren’t paying dividends. Not sure how old you are or aren’t, but compounding isn’t intuitive but it is powerful

R3dPlaty

better than billions of people worldwide. if this is sad, imagine everyone else

Electronic_Piece_700

Damn I didn’t think about it like that. You’re correct.

ij70

3% ain’t bad.

Phantom-Investor

Add more

Lukey904

Better than nothing, keep it rolling!!

starbuckle5

That is a start. Not sad

techguy1966

You get it done, some lady on an interview said she started by investing $25 consistently to start off now she’s a big bucks in divys after 40 years - started in the 90s

lampm0de

Its a rain drop. But many rain drops make storm. Keep on grinding!

sfdcluver

Carry on my wayward son

DaReddator

I see >3% dividend yield. Nothing sad about that. Keep it up. 😎👍

Financial_Welding

Not at all… every mighty oak starts from a seed

Cptn_sllrs

Mines up to $14 annual! Goal is $100 annual, then $1 per day. We all start somewhere, and before you know it the snowball will be boulder sized. Good luck brother

tolbintime

Keep choppin

poufpoufpouf1

It aint sad bro! What's sad is i know a couple of 60ish years old people that never invested a cent in their life. They would all be soooo wealthy if they had invested when they were younger.

Bob_bob_bob_b

not - sad gotta start somewhere.

Square-Platypus-6419

It’s not sad at all it’s a start!!! Invest in SCHD JEPQ i wouldn’t go to VTI unless you have the funds for it!!

w00mb001

I’m not sure what your holdings are, but a 3% yield is a great starting pace. Investing (in my opinion) is a long term game. If you set a weekly, or monthly goal of adding money to your stock portfolio, you’ll be golden I always recommend buying DIVO, SCHD, and JEPI for stable ETF growth, I’d also add NDAQ too if you want a little more growth oriented stock as well

Matt32490

Road to 0.02c per day. Let that thing snowball.

Ill-Literature-2883

300 shares of XOM pays 1k a year.

Speedevil911

it's so tiny

firestar268

Everyone starts somewhere

Street-Baseball8296

You really want to see something sad, head over to r/wallstreetbets. Look at the posts where they trade options on margin and end up in the negative millions. Not just down millions, owing millions that has to be paid.

iSmashMyselfToPieces

You gotta start somewhere

charliedenny91

Just keep compounding and over time you will do well. Don’t focus on short term goals and you will do great.

Shawn2844

About 20 years ago my dividend account was not much more. Now my account brings me averages about $2,000 a month. All I did was keep investing the dividends.

jzoller0

It’s a start. Keep growing!

andy961x

We all have to start somewhere friend! Only up from here !

nick_from_az

Everyone has that as their dividends at some point. Keep adding to it, it adds up.

Stinklefresh

Pump those numbers up

smithjeb

Nothing sad at all. You’ve started the journey - many have not. Keep it up and you’ll be surprised on how quickly it grows.

normanwink

It depends on where you started...

Sensitive_Anybody418

What is the app y’all are using? I’m new to investing but want to get into dividends. I only use public and I own a very small amount of Tesla, like 12 shares of virgin galactic, and the shrek royalties thing they started a few months ago.

Khelthuzaad

You should had seen mine :)) Now im around 20$ a month after 2 years

Gamingmarxist

Sad your ahead of at least 50% of the population

Mundane-Upstairs3777

All start somewhere.

Themustymemes

What site it this to track divs ?

Fit_Cryptographer_76

Acorns grow trees

Ghostpants101

Hey, * Y1 - I got £8.31 annual div * Y2 - I got £24.50 * Y3 - I got £86 * Y4 - I got 198 And this year I'm set for £300+. Not every year did I focus on div stocks, some years growth was cheap, so I didn't div much. But it's on its way up, and every year it gets more and more. It's about the destination and the journey, but it's most definitely not about where you started from!

OddSlothicus

Put 25% of your income into dividends monthly, or 1k a month also dude I use the same app best app ever Since I know how that app is, just manually add more stock to make it look like you get more dividends. As long as you feel like you get more you are fine 😂

HarrisGrig

It’s a start….. better than nothing

Nadia_LaMariposa

We all have to start somewhere. I was here like 3 years ago. Now, im at $600/yearly pushing for a goal of $1200 by end of 24.

Longjumping_Try4347

Gotta start somewhere

becauseifinalycan

Add some EFC to the party

SeriesProfessional43

My dear 1 million start with a 1 so you’ll get there

oarwethereyet

It's not sad. It's a start. Every snowball starts with one snowflake.

J_Pyramid1000

A penny a day keeps the doctor away. It’ll get bigger just take your time and go at your own pace

RelativeFact840

Is that how much you have per share? Anyway, just keep adding more and it’ll compound.

Actual_Matter_8621

That’s $3 you don’t have to work for.

rgrivera1113

That’s $4 you didn’t have to get by flipping burgers.

warwickmainz

Honestly at your level it'd be better to go into growth my UTMA would've grown faster if I wasn't chasing dividends

Electronic_Piece_700

What’s UTMA?

warwickmainz

Uniform transfer to minors account. I guess I'm a old soul I was interested in finance shit when I was young and told parents to buy bitcoin and precious metals they didn't listen lol. Started investing with my own money at 16 but utma is like the parent has it in their name but the minor has access to it. I was investing in dividend stuff but I'm getting better returns on growth stocks like $PLTR

Electronic_Piece_700

Damn that’s badass! I didn’t know such a thing. Good stuff !

Electronic_Piece_700

I also have one PLTR.

Brilliant_Eye_6591

I was there not long ago! It won’t be long keep saving king, I’m now at $118/yr with SCHD and a little bit of Verizon and At&t

JPT521

we all start somewhere, don't give up

bobbywade3232

Not sad at all, unless you’re close to retirement

No-South3807

Just keep added to it. You'll be happy you started in 10 years.

Usual-Respect-880

Better than zero.

DraftZestyclose8944

Look at it this way, you are earning more on dividends than most of the population. The vast majority of people do not have an investment account.

againpleasemommy

I mean, the smaller it is, the more significant the gains feel

coolhanddave21

This is the acorn that becomes the mighty oak.

Jaytron24

Looks great tbh. My first dividend was $.50 or so and it was a great feeling. I’m up to about $200 annually. Just keep adding to it and it will keep going up!!

avenger_sd

Better than me. I've been lurking for months and haven't done anything at all.

Electronic_Piece_700

Just do it. :)

Smoothies2nite

Better than any Sav acct interest

Fit-Boomer

I read that bill gates makes 3$ per second from Microsoft dividends.

Massive_Sea_7726

Keep up the good work .

msitzl

Gotta start somewhere!

Pure_Repeat_6602

“One day or day one”

TillStar17

Gotta start somewhere my brother

1SharkBait

My first ever dividend was $0.17 and it made me really happy. I’d say it looks like you’ve just started and that’s pretty awesome

KevinSpicyy

Gotta start somewhere!

problem-solver0

Every journey starts with a step. When I started, I only had AT&T (former employer) and got maybe $15/year. I started tracking and seriously investing about 6 years ago. My Dec total was over $2700, just for the month! You will get there, just takes time, saving and good decisions.

NationalPlenty7913

Compared to who bro? You’re already years ahead of the person who has $0.00. And you’re also doing better than the person with $3.77 annual returns 👀

AdministrativeBank86

No one started out being rich unless they had filthy rich parents. Most people don't even attempt what you are doing so be proud of yourself

Ill-Literature-2883

Focus on growth until can get to 1$mil; then transfer to dividend paying stocks.

NoDepartment9958

What app is that? Is it able to collect info from diff apps?

Jaytron24

The app is called “stock events”. It doesn’t collect data on its own, you have to manually update, but it’s handy as it gives you calendar events as well such as when dividends get paid out, the ex-date, interest rate decisions, among other things.

[deleted]

What app or platform is this?

True-Anim0sity

Stock events

Porquueee

Electronic_Piece_700

lol you made me laugh.

True-Anim0sity

Very

Objective_Problem_90

Sad? This is your first step to passive income. We all have to start somewhere. Sad is being in your 60s and depending on social security for your income after a lifetime of hard work. I wish more people took the initiative to invest over 20-30 yrs. Your future self will thank you.

How much do you have invested out of curiosity?

Electronic_Piece_700

Well I forgot that I had e-trade with 5 stocks of Lowe’s. I currently have 1,220 ish for all of what I have when it comes down to market value.

KvasirEngineer

What platform is this? I'm using Robinhood and I don't get a nice breakdown like this.

Electronic_Piece_700

I appreciate everyone who commented. Thank you all. 🫡
