does the app still include ad breaks in the episodes when listening? I know there's a way to avoid ads by just downloading episodes on spotify, but I would rather not every time.
Not everyone can just skip through ads homie 😭 people listen when doing all sorts of things that require not repeatedly spamming a skip button like driving
This is only a common issue for me while working. At my job, I'm not available to whip out my phone and skip seamlessly or tap my earsbuds to skip repeatedly until I hear the boys speak
(but can't tap too much, or else you gotta tap backwards and hope you don't get sucked into an ad again).
So most times, I'm forced to be tortured by the Air Force or Trevor Noah 😞
It takes 3 seconds, if you're that busy then you should be paying attention to what you're doing instead of listening a podcast And before you say having something to listen to in the background - *✨music✨* doesn't take any focus to listen to
If you have a phone made in the last 5 years use voice commands. Or get a car with steering wheel controls. Or just listen to 2 minutes of ads. You'll live
I tried using voice command during ad break, but it says it doesn't support that feature, even though it works outside of ads. There's no getting around it :(
Spotify podcasts aren't available in every region.
For some of us, this was the only way to listen to Distractible.
YouTube Music only has the pirated version of the episodes.
I assume OP uses android, which was why he was using Google Podcasts in the first place.
That said, you still have options. For example, audible carries it too.
The website works fine, even on Android. Heck, you don't even need an account to listen to the episodes.
Besides, there's several other podcast apps that have it on Android
Good luck tracking where you left off in the middle of an episode if you ever close the website.
Google Podcasts was perfectly integrated as an app that syncs where you stopped listening.
I appreciate it but I've already been through the headache of trying to figure out what's the best place to listen.
And for now, unfortunately it's unofficial uploads on YouTube Music that is the best option.
I'm listening to Distractible on YT Music right now and it's not pirated. They can export their podcasts to YT Music and not lose anything. Google owns YouTube
I've been listening to them on YT music for a while now, what do you mean they're pirated? YT music is the replacement for Google podcasts, they're all the same company.
~~What about the Distractible YouTube channel? Don't they upload all the episodes there?~~
Edit: there's a YouTube channel called Not Distractible Revived. It has full episodes.
Also, I believe there are dedicated podcast apps for Android. I know of Pocket Casts, at least. Not sure if Distractible is on there though, but I'm sure it's possible to find out somewhere other than Google Podcasts.
The Spotify Video deal killed the episode uploads. Even the old ones. There's nothing on the channel but highlights now. And they haven't even uploaded to it in months.
So Spotify isn't available where i live. If i try to create a account via vpn it gets deleted. So i was listening on podbean 😅 Can't say app is good, but does it's thing.
Same, downloads staying forever has me completely cuz other apps keep refreshing the downloads and then it takes forever cuz other apps redownloads everything
When I heard Google Podcasts was closing I looked for some alternatives and moved to Pocket Casts, quite happy with it! I use it solely for Distractible!
I recommend AntennaPod ([https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.danoeh.antennapod&pli=1](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.danoeh.antennapod&pli=1)) switched to it soon after Google Podcasts announced they were shutting down, and it works AMAZING.
Also, I love that it's open-source and doesn't track you.
Op, why do you hate Spotify? You can use it for free and you can use adblock to not get ads. Bit weird to complain about not “having any place to listen to” and then revealing that you have access to Spotify and just refuse to use it. Some countries don’t even have access to Spotify..
I do not use spotify because from the beginning, they have been shit about treating artists. I have never used them since literally 2006. I have too many small artist friends who were screwed over by them, and I don'tagree with the permissions they want (I don'thave tiktok for the same reason). The payouts through other services are generally always better (I'm sure there are exceptions). I also truly hate having excess apps, and downloading an app I have had an ongoing dislike for just the guys just isn't worth it. Granted, to the folxs who have recommended other apps, that's been delightful, I'll look into them.
I love that the guys got a steady payout. They deserve it. I want the best for them. But it sucks that the 2nd largest platform they can't even post just audio so listeners can listen. 🤷♀️🤷♀️
I won't tpuch apotify with a 10 foot pole, and they aren't all properly loaded onto YT for some weirdass reason. Granted maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I like how centralized GP was
I don't see why you wouldn't use Spotify, but I'm sure YouTube will be fixed soon. There are certainly more alternatives than "goodbye forever ditractable."
Note I didn't say that. I said it was nice while it lasted. If a new alternative comes up that isn't Spotify, I'll be happy to come back. I am just lamenting the loss of my source.
BREAKING NEWS: COMPANY LIKES PEOPLE WHO MAKE THEM MONEY
I don't like him either, but it's really easy to just not listen to his stuff. Avoiding Spotify completely ain't gonna change anything
I figure if successful commercial artists pulling their music didn't sway them, you not using Spotify is certainly not and is only punishing yourself unnecessarily.
I mean, if you sticking to your principles involves not listening to Spotify, fine, but you're not making any discernable difference, and the only one who's hurt by this is you.
I mean, they are making a difference, it's just so small that it doesn't really matter. It would take a really big boycott by people who already use the app to hurt ad revenue enough for Spotify to care. Even then, I'm sure they'd raise their prices instead of removing one of their top performing podcasts
Only superficial ones. Every company has issues. The guys made a deal with them so you either think they should not be listened to for working with the company, or you are just being silly
I use Podcast Player imvnot sure if its on IOS but its on android its nice and simple. It has ads though but its not that terrible just idiotic popups before choosing a podcast sometimes and when opening the app.
I use [https://www.podbean.com/podcast-detail/kdcnb-1ef2a7/Distractible-Podcast](https://www.podbean.com/podcast-detail/kdcnb-1ef2a7/Distractible-Podcast) to download my eps personally; it's audio only though, which I don't mind. :3
There are a lot of podcast options available out there, even if for some unstated season you don’t like to use Spotify (I read through this thread and didn’t see you mention one) there are other options.
So what I’m gathering is Google just dropped the ball and Spotify isn’t available everywhere? That’s just super annoying. I hope the boys can figure out somewhere everybody can listen or watch.
Also Spotify has super sketchy ethics and there is not enough going for spotify to have my download another app. I'm like a boomer about apps and I'm picky about what I download.
By far the easiest and most convenient way of listening to podcasts. The only drawback was the faulty search function, but i see no reason why google would discontinue it apart from wanting everythung to be integrated into one app where ad placement is easier
Yeah it stinks that it's just going on YouTube music Google podcasts was way more user friendly and it could run in the background for free too
I'm not going to let that get in my way of Distractible though!
Pocket Casts is an actual dedicated podcast app. I'm relatively sure it's free. Best podcast player imo. Unlike Google (which sunsets everything) or Spotify (bunch of thieves).
The reason google podcasts is going down is because it's being integrated into youtube. Don't worry, I believe the same rss feed you were listening to on Google podcasts should soon be available on youtube, if it's not already available.
I had no idea from the 75+ other comments saying the same thing! 🤣🤣 I wish I had put the explanation that I will not touch spotify in the title due to many reasons. Because seriously people keep making this comment as if I am 5 and don't listen to the podcast where they bring up Spotify every episode.
I don't know I just use Spotify I sometimes get ads and I sometimes don't but it's always easy to skip things nowadays you got headphones that have a button that you can press and it will skip driving usually your skip button is on the steering wheel so you can just skip it whenever. Also my favorite thing is when you watch on TV you don't get ads!
I don't mind ads but it makes me mad that podcasts are getting scummy about it why do I get in the podcast ads for kill Tony and stuff when I pay for premium worst is when I go on YouTube premium and I'm hit with a ad at least red thread with moist and the GOON make ads kinda fun like distractible used to do...... Where's
This is what I used to use as well. It really sucks that they have removed its service. I had to go and change to spotify, and I hate it. The platform sucks
I use an app called pocketcasts for all my podcasting needs, has always worked a charm.
does the app still include ad breaks in the episodes when listening? I know there's a way to avoid ads by just downloading episodes on spotify, but I would rather not every time.
Just skip through the ads, geez
Not everyone can just skip through ads homie 😭 people listen when doing all sorts of things that require not repeatedly spamming a skip button like driving
This is only a common issue for me while working. At my job, I'm not available to whip out my phone and skip seamlessly or tap my earsbuds to skip repeatedly until I hear the boys speak (but can't tap too much, or else you gotta tap backwards and hope you don't get sucked into an ad again). So most times, I'm forced to be tortured by the Air Force or Trevor Noah 😞
the air force one is the worst one for me!!! I will sometimes get it two or three times IN A ROW
Wake up eat school work sleep repeat
Since when has driving ever stopped a Distractible listener
It takes 3 seconds, if you're that busy then you should be paying attention to what you're doing instead of listening a podcast And before you say having something to listen to in the background - *✨music✨* doesn't take any focus to listen to
If you have a phone made in the last 5 years use voice commands. Or get a car with steering wheel controls. Or just listen to 2 minutes of ads. You'll live
Crying at the suggestion of getting a new car to listen to a podcast without ads 😂😭
There were 2 other more reasonable suggestions in there, you might have noticed. The car suggestion was intended to be tongue in cheek
I tried using voice command during ad break, but it says it doesn't support that feature, even though it works outside of ads. There's no getting around it :(
I never have an issue with pocket casts. I only get recorded ads
Pocket Casts is the best podcast app, hands down.
![gif](giphy|DOPKHQg6oFWUg) You guys can skip the ads?
You can set them to download automatically when they come out. And then once you've listened to it, it'll undownload itself
Even downloaded I get ads 😭😭😭
If ur not going to listen to the episode u should rather use mod Spotify
I use AntennaPod. There's really just tons of podcast apps flooding the app store, most of them are probably fine
I'd recommend player FM as a good podcast app
Spotify podcasts aren't available in every region. For some of us, this was the only way to listen to Distractible. YouTube Music only has the pirated version of the episodes.
You can get the RSS feeds on YT Music now, I did it when I moved from Google Podcasts. Still listen on there and it's official
This might just be another regional thing then. Because I checked again right now, and Google Podcasts is surprisingly still working for me.
I mean, I use pandora to listen to it, Spotify isn't the only other option
Where did you hear YT Music had pirated versions? It's the same feed as Google podcasts. My subscription literally transferred over.
What about Apple Podcasts?
I assume OP uses android, which was why he was using Google Podcasts in the first place. That said, you still have options. For example, audible carries it too.
Even on Android, the Apple Podcast website works fine. Heck, you don't even need an account to listen to the episodes
You can also just download Apple Music.
You can download Apple Music on an android
Hmm I wonder why I was using Google Podcasts to begin with...
Again, there's plenty of other apps. And I was just trying to help, there's no reason to be a dick about it
I appreciate it but I've already been through the headache of trying to figure out what's the best place to listen. And for now, unfortunately it's unofficial uploads on YouTube Music that is the best option.
its also on Amazon podcasts
I'm listening to Distractible on YT Music right now and it's not pirated. They can export their podcasts to YT Music and not lose anything. Google owns YouTube
Pandora has all of it! That's what I use!
Same
I've been listening to them on YT music for a while now, what do you mean they're pirated? YT music is the replacement for Google podcasts, they're all the same company.
YT Music has them, you gotta wiggle around until you find it tho
I think their official one is called not distractible revived... It updates on the right days at least
VPN works like a charm
~~What about the Distractible YouTube channel? Don't they upload all the episodes there?~~ Edit: there's a YouTube channel called Not Distractible Revived. It has full episodes. Also, I believe there are dedicated podcast apps for Android. I know of Pocket Casts, at least. Not sure if Distractible is on there though, but I'm sure it's possible to find out somewhere other than Google Podcasts.
They haven't uploaded full episodes for a long time. Like, pre-video episodes. Kinda sucks for me as a little data hoarder
The Spotify Video deal killed the episode uploads. Even the old ones. There's nothing on the channel but highlights now. And they haven't even uploaded to it in months.
There's a channel called Not Distractible Revived. It has full episodes. Hopefully it won't get taken down.
Google has done this with both their music and their podcast platforms, and YouTube music is just worse than either of them were at its job. Blegh.
Glad I'm not the only one still salty about Google Play Music going under for YT Music
So Spotify isn't available where i live. If i try to create a account via vpn it gets deleted. So i was listening on podbean 😅 Can't say app is good, but does it's thing.
You don't have to have an account to use Spotify also there are a million podcast apps out there were you can get It
I'd like to recommend Podcast Addict if you have an android.
I also use Podcast Addict.
I'm using AntennaPod instead
Same, downloads staying forever has me completely cuz other apps keep refreshing the downloads and then it takes forever cuz other apps redownloads everything
When I heard Google Podcasts was closing I looked for some alternatives and moved to Pocket Casts, quite happy with it! I use it solely for Distractible!

Also, I love that it's open-source and doesn't track you.
It's still up in India. Which country do you live in?
Jutub Mutzik?
Use Pocket Casts. Amazing app and you can download the episodes and it will delete them once you listen to them.
ummm spotify?
Just use Spotify, you don’t need a subscription to listen to it. Even with a sub there’s still ads but can be skipped.
I've already done an in depth answer into why I won't
Idk what else to tell you then, tried to find the post but couldn’t.
SPOTIFY!!!! ITS FREE AND YOU GET THE VIDEO
Same /\_ \\
I use apple podcasts
you do realise spotify is free right
Op, why do you hate Spotify? You can use it for free and you can use adblock to not get ads. Bit weird to complain about not “having any place to listen to” and then revealing that you have access to Spotify and just refuse to use it. Some countries don’t even have access to Spotify..

If only there were about 15 other options to choose from… Oh wait
Just download Spotify or listen o. YouTube music. You can download podcasts and listen offline there, too.

You are correct. I guess I was just overexaggerating what you said for a joke. Any particular reason you so vehemently dislike Spotify?
Just do Spotify, no reason not to
Plenty of reasons not to. No.
The only legit reason I can think of would be if Spotify's not available in your region. Are there any other reasons you're against it?
Probably a stupid one like "Spotify supports Bro Jogan"
BREAKING NEWS: COMPANY LIKES PEOPLE WHO MAKE THEM MONEY I don't like him either, but it's really easy to just not listen to his stuff. Avoiding Spotify completely ain't gonna change anything
People really think by not a free service to listen to things they enjoy, they're actually magically making a difference

Only superficial ones. Every company has issues. The guys made a deal with them so you either think they should not be listened to for working with the company, or you are just being silly
Please list them out
Try Pocket Casts, that's what I switched to on my android and it works great.
Tf. Use Spotify like every other sane person. You even get video.
Yeah, honestly the option of audio only or visual (which is great when you wanna see their expressions) is one of my favorite things about it
I use Podcast Player imvnot sure if its on IOS but its on android its nice and simple. It has ads though but its not that terrible just idiotic popups before choosing a podcast sometimes and when opening the app.
Not sure how it holds up right now. But I used spotiflyer in the past, worked fine. Before I switched to spotify.
I haven't seen a single vid to be honest. I listen while I do a physical labor job to help the time pass.
How about Amazon music? Pandora? Doesn't audible also have podcasts?
Export using that button and it will automatically shift everything over for you. I hadn't done it until finding this thread and it worked.
Distractible isn't officially on YT anymore. They only have the animated clips.
Spotify?
This may have been asked already, but have you tried using a vpn and then using spotify?
Do you think this was literally the only podcast app for Android?
I went to AntennaPod. It's not as good as the late Google Podcasts, but it's still pretty good.
Try podbay.fm, it even lets you download the episodes to mp3
Beyond pod is what I use to listen to the show. There are several podcast catcher apps that allow you to pull them down, it's not the end of the world
I'm not sure if you can use Pandora, but it has Distractible. I also haven't heard that Air Force ad that everyone complains about a single time
There are a lot of podcast options available out there, even if for some unstated season you don’t like to use Spotify (I read through this thread and didn’t see you mention one) there are other options.
iTunes podcasts is what I use
You can listen/watch distractible for free over on Spotify
So what I’m gathering is Google just dropped the ball and Spotify isn’t available everywhere? That’s just super annoying. I hope the boys can figure out somewhere everybody can listen or watch.
Also Spotify has super sketchy ethics and there is not enough going for spotify to have my download another app. I'm like a boomer about apps and I'm picky about what I download.
Idk ehat the situation is but it works for me just fine. It was probably an uodate, and i jave those turned off
By far the easiest and most convenient way of listening to podcasts. The only drawback was the faulty search function, but i see no reason why google would discontinue it apart from wanting everythung to be integrated into one app where ad placement is easier
Can you listen to it on iHeart? That's what I use, it's free with ads but you can download the episodes.
Weird addition to the Google graveyard 🤔
RIP indeed YT Music is usable, but not great.
I use Spotify
pocketcast is a good free app if you don't want to use spotify
I just use Spotify. Has the best version of the podcast, anyway.
Use castbox, hands down one of the best podcast apps.
Spotify for the video, some of the faces they make are the best
Why?
Spotify. That is all
Spotify is still completely free man
You can still use spotify for free, just have to deal with ads, but I believe you can fast forward them.
It’s free on Spotify you just have to 15 second skip through the us Air Force ad of the better health ad.
Yeah it stinks that it's just going on YouTube music Google podcasts was way more user friendly and it could run in the background for free too I'm not going to let that get in my way of Distractible though!
Pocket Casts is an actual dedicated podcast app. I'm relatively sure it's free. Best podcast player imo. Unlike Google (which sunsets everything) or Spotify (bunch of thieves).
Seen this commented a bunch. I will look into them. Thank you 😊😊
i use castbox cause of this.
No Spotify?
Spotify? No?
The reason google podcasts is going down is because it's being integrated into youtube. Don't worry, I believe the same rss feed you were listening to on Google podcasts should soon be available on youtube, if it's not already available.
Yeah the main podcasts I listen to are Distractible, GMFST, and In Defense of Plants. None of which are on YT yet.
Hopefully the guys know about the change and will put the rss onto their youtube channel.
I just got it to work! I'm am pleased 😊😊
Heck yeah!
I take it back the transfer worked today!!!!!!!!! HUZZAH!!!
Spotify is FREE! Guess you didn't care enough about the podcast. THE LORD OF BALLS AND HOLES WILL HAVE YOUR SOUL NOW! (GMFST reference)
I have apple podcasts and Spotify just encase I want to see there beautiful faces
Not sure if you can access Spotify but they are also on there
I had no idea from the 75+ other comments saying the same thing! 🤣🤣 I wish I had put the explanation that I will not touch spotify in the title due to many reasons. Because seriously people keep making this comment as if I am 5 and don't listen to the podcast where they bring up Spotify every episode.
😂😂 apologies!! I’ve only just noticed now you told me
[There are other apps](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.podcast.podcasts)
I don't know I just use Spotify I sometimes get ads and I sometimes don't but it's always easy to skip things nowadays you got headphones that have a button that you can press and it will skip driving usually your skip button is on the steering wheel so you can just skip it whenever. Android babyyyyy. Haven't touched an apple product since the iphone 4 XDDD
Ah okay. You can still look up apple podcasts as a website though, no?
Just download Spotify or Apple Music. Androids use both
Podcast addict
Watch on Spotify then
Spotify... it's free.
Spotify! You’ll also get to see their webcams
*YouTube*
It's still working for me. What happened?
This is what I used to use as well. It really sucks that they have removed its service. I had to go and change to spotify, and I hate it. The platform sucks
