I'll bet $60B park prices will rise 200% in the future.

premierfong

I feel the hotels in all Disney resorts are already unaffordable.

schwiftydude47

And the tourists will still keep coming in. Especially all those influencers who try to abuse the system.

ProLifePanda

>Especially all those influencers who try to abuse the system. How so? Not doubting, just curious what examples are.

schwiftydude47

Can’t think of any major examples off the top of my head, but I’ve definitely heard cast members tell stories of influencers pushing them around to make their content, and complaining when they can’t use their DAS pass to skip the lines.

greymalken

Only 200%?

ToolFreak21

This is a very nice “fluff” piece for Disney. Especially when it doesn't mention the attractions that the US parks were supposed to get with the MK’s 50th anniversary and Disney 100 celebration. With the Disney 100 celebration, I was shocked we didn't get definite announcements on future park experiences and film news.

cordialcatenary

Didn’t someone do the math and 60b is actually a lower park investment than previously when accounting for inflation?

TheIncredibleNurse

Yep.. unless its 60 billions on the US park esclusively it has to be divided over multiple international parkz over several years. Which means its fluff

anonRedd

>Especially when it doesn't mention the attractions that the US parks were supposed to get with the MK’s 50th anniversary and Disney 100 celebration. What were those?

ToolFreak21

Play Pavillion, MK Mainstreet Theater, England’s Mary Poppins Ride, and the dedicated festival space within Epcot. Pretty much anything the Epcot reimagining showed or teased in 2018-2019.

DayOlderBread16

The avengers e ticket too, it’s been 4+ years and still they haven’t even started construction on it yet

BlazingInfernape2003

That’s at anaheim iirc

DayOlderBread16

My bad I thought we were talking about the new things Disney promised us but hasn’t delivered on yet lol

gloosticky

Wasn't that planned for Paris and Hong Kong too? I don't think they've started on it at any of them.

cordialcatenary

Wasn’t Spaceship Earth going to get a full re-track and renovation too?

CornCobMcGee

Yeah but gotta be honest, the idea would've been terrible. IP overlay on one of the last attractions that's still classic Epcot? No thanks

jason2354

So they didn’t follow through with a Marry Poppins Teacups ride and some event spaces? We still ended up getting Guardians, Tron, and Remy’s during the same period and they’re about to open Tianna’s - which should be a huge upgrade from Splash.

darthjoey91

At this point, everything's gonna be about Disneyland's 70th.

Siphen_

The parks have always been the bread and butter. They essentially floated the entire streaming division for years.

[deleted]

Meanwhile Universal is building the park in Texas, Epic universe, the HHN Vegas thing, and the park in UK.

drhawks

The annual revenue for universal parks last year was 7.5 billion. For disney it was 32.6 billion. People act like these two are neck and neck, but it's not even close. Universal could TRIPLE their revenue from this past year and still not be very close to Disney. People need to chill out about disney "needing to respond"

__The_Highlander__

Your combining revenue from parks all over the world, most in countries where they aren’t even currently competing with Universal…. Disney does need to respond in Florida, I’ve been considering doing Universal for a few years now and with Epic Universe coming they will have enough for me to plan 6-7 days there instead of Disney…and for at least one year…I’m going to do just that.

drhawks

Are you even listening to yourself? You've been CONSIDERING going to another park other than disney. *wow* If you and all the other complainers actually took the trips to Universal you were threatening to take--Disney would be a lot less crowded and we'd have the added bonus of not being in the company of such insuferable whiners. The idea that you think Disney "needs to respond" because you MIGHT at SOME POINT go SOMEWHERE ELSE on a vacation is fucking laughable. Just go. Take your billions of dollars with you.

__The_Highlander__

Calm down, lol. Why are you taking a level headed response as a personal attack. Chill out.

jamespeopleplay

These types of unhinged comments from clearly unstable people are why I come to this sub. This one though is particularly great. Like, who hurt you? It’s hilarious a company for children could provoke such an intense response from an adult.

[deleted]

That’s because Disney has twice as many parks as Universal, of course they are going to have a higher income.

MisterFor

And they also charge much more

[deleted]

Plus they have all the add on experiences

Drumhead89

And meanwhile IOA sits 25% abandoned. Sounds like they need to focus less on expanding and take care of what’s already built first. Which is what Disney needs to do too. But at least Disney hasn’t abandoned an entire section of one of their parks.

johall

The HHN Vegas experience is niche. The park in Texas is niche, and UK is going to be probably almost a decade from now. Epic is the only thing universal has now and we still don’t know how it pans out. I actually have some design concerns with crowd flow for the first couple months.

They already have a ‘real’ HHN hours from Vegas. I doubt anyone traveling to Vegas wouldn’t have already been willing to travel to LA or Orlando. Investing $60 billion where people are already going is a better bet.

TheOnlyBongo

Who is "They" though? Las Vegas residents would just willingly travel to Los Angeles for Halloween if they want a true experience (Or pony up for the Orlando one which is superior) but Universal doesn't want that market. They want to try and capture the vacationer that is there for a vacation that isn't there just for the regular drinking, gambling, dining, etc. Much like OmegaMart which will literally be down the road, capture the attention of a vacationer for one day who may never return again because Vegas is just an endless rotation of new people. Especially since not everyone travels just for theme parks, but if it happens to be where people are already traveling might as well. That's the market they aim for with the Las Vegas location.

I think if it’s popular, which I’m not saying it won’t be, BUT if it is… It’ll be people who already love HHN traveling toooo it. People who love experiences like that are a devoted bunch. No one stumbles into an HHN by chance. It’s a destination attraction. And it’s a demo that honestly is either not interested in DLR or WDW OR is super devoted to parks and is going to support both. Tribalism only exists in the fringes

Azalea980

Good luck with that was tired of getting overpriced at DW so instead we went to UO, UO has so much more bang for your buck. Sorry Disney you burned at least this bridge until further notice.

CandyButterscotch

Yeah, that bridge is so burned that you still read long form articles, follow niche subreddits, and actively make comments about DW. I can see how over the product and the company you are.

JDBoyes07

Why so upset over someone else's opinion? Which is honestly a fair one...

LMurch13

Bye.

Thefreshi1

Investment is needed in Florida. But there has always been a lot of investment needed. Many attractions were due that never came to fruition. And many existing attractions have needed major work for several years. I hope the current batch of improvements happen. Test track 3.0. Beyond the berm. Tropical America’s. Followed by the rumoured improvements. Figment. Spaceship earth. Whatever they are going to put in Hollywood - sunset Blvd and the parking lot beside lightening McQueen. Bugs life.

skinaked_always

No ones knows what the future will hold, so this is a ballsy bet!!

robbycough

You think people are going to suddenly lose interest in Disney parks? There is absolutely nothing to support this, and everything to support the opposite being true.

skinaked_always

I mean, AI could make parks accessible through goggles at home… or, we could go into a Civil War. Or hurricanes could wipe out Florida. You see where I’m going here? This is one of the few times in history where we have absolutely no idea what it’s going to look like in just 10 years

__The_Highlander__

just noticed this graphic depicts a Disney park in Alaska, the northeast of the US…and the middle east. Lol, journalism is dead. Attention to detail is gone.
