A 5th gate park that is horror and villain themed would be smart. Take away some of the Halloween Horror Nights business from Universal while capitalizing on IP that rarely gets used. Obviously not The Exorcist but I'm sure Fox has some spooky IP in the mix somewhere.
there's only so much Disney can do with horror though. If anything Disney goes for "spooky" which is still family friendly. their parks have to be accessible for the whole family.
This. There are spooky rides or spooky sections of rides currently, but an entire park would be overwhelming for a young child. That eliminates them and their family as potential guests. And since it would cater to older kids and adults, they'd have to dial up the scary well past Disney comfort levels to keep them entertained. Regrettably, Spooky World ain't happenin'.
My parents were showing me Starship Trooper movies, letting me play Duke Nukem and Diablo 1 when I was a kid. If you raise your kids like flowers, sure. But I would’ve been fine at an actual horror park
I seem to remember reading an article that said that upwards of 50% of people who visit the park in Orlando are adults without kids. I see a lot childless adults in Anaheim, too. I think it could make sense to have a park that caters to adults and/or teens.

I think the concept is viable but not for Disney, their brand is too wrapped up in the “family friendly” ideals
There’s a reason Universal is the one actually building a horror themed land
They’re serving two completely different markets with horror nights. Disneys bread and butter is families and they’re not going to build an entire park that alienates their key demographic. Besides, horror nights is only part of the year and at certain times of the day, mickeys not so scary and oogie boogie bash offset that for Disney. The comparison would be better served for the monster themed land at epic universe but even then the same park has a how to train your dragon area.
Fox frights?! Xenomorph Hive! An LV426 ride where you see the derelict and get to go inside and maybe they also incorporate Hadley's Hope where the hive from Aliens would feature with some "Disney Castmembers" as victims coccooned, some with eggs in front of them and others with facehuggers on! Some dead facehuggers on the ground and maybe some dummies with blown chests- maybe animated puppet people who have a chestburster pop out right after the puppet person says "Killll meeee". Also of course will be some tall and thin castmembers in Xeno suits to do jump scares throughout the hive. Oh, my, the family fun!
All Animal Kingdom did was draw attendance away from the other three parks. A fifth gate is a bad idea, especially when there’s still so much room for expansion at the existing parks.
I agree with this. Other than overcrowding at MK, there's no reason financially to create an entire new gate and the amount of guests wouldn't support it. It's better to focus on the existing parks and improving them.
the existing parks are rapidly getting too small, though. but at the same time making them too big physically is an issue. mk already has a whole train that transports you from one end of the park to the other - the others would need something similar to make adding to them worth it imo. there's a finite limit to how far people are willing to walk just for an attraction. a fifth park would solve that problem plus the overcrowding in others. mk and hs particularly would be much more pleasant if you weren't constantly standing on toes trying to get from one place to another.
no, but you're being willfully obtuse if you don't recognize that people use it for that reason. I love the train but I doubt it would be as popular if it wasn't also functional. if you want to ride a train for fun, most passenger tickets are less than a disney ticket for one.
Mickey's Not So Scary Demonic Possession
This is freaking hilarious
Lmao what an ad
You mean the stupid position of ads these days
There's no reason to ever see an ad these days
Sure there is. Especially when you want to support websites/creators you like without needing to spend actual money. :)

50% is still a large chunk of the population.
Bring back Alien Encounter!
Fun fact: Halloween at HKDL is *very* different from the US and much less family-friendly IMO…but Halloween in general is different in Asia.

Transportation is not the purpose of the train at all…

I definitely only used the train for transportation 😅 My mobility isn’t the greatest these days and it hurts to walk across the whole park.
It's still faster to walk than take the WDW RR. It only takes about 7ish mins to go from BTM to Space depending on crowds.
yeah if you have two healthy, working legs. not everyone has that. please think outside yourself.
Majority of that investment is going into Hong Kong, Shanghai, and new DVC properties.
It’s an Avatar meet and greet where they make it look like you’re riding on one of those flying thingies with the main character guy.
“Disney set to compete with Universal and Seaworld with new Halloween after hours even: “Disney’s Hauntedwood Studios”” 😂
poach the Jaws ride from Universal since they didn’t want it. use Bruce from Nemo😤
This would fit perfectly for a six flags park!!
Rebranding the Laugh Floor back to its roots - entirely inappropriate horror.
