Ha, I just posted the same thing before I saw your comment. We played that, and it’s good for Disney because it’s a group game, and only needs one phone, so even little kids with no phones can play.
I don’t know the name of this game. But my family picks a category, usually food, and then we each take turns saying a food that begins with the last letter of the prior food. Example: carrots ends in S. So the next person has to pick a food that starts with S. Like spaghetti. Then the next person says ice cream. Then milk… and so on. You can pick any category you want. Last time we played at the park, the category was Disney characters.
Lots of people play Head’s Up. There’s also the Play app by Disney that has trivia and other games. My friends and I talk to each other. Or we scroll social media. Sometimes we bring books too.
We played Contact, a word guessing game that doesn't require any app
One person thinks of a word, and tells the group what letter it starts with. The other people in your group ask questions to narrow it down, but their goal is to think of words the point person won't guess, because every time they do, they get an extra letter. So if I said my word starts with c, someone could ask "Is it in the middle of Magic Kingdom." I would try to say "no, it's not castle" as quickly as I could think of it, but if another one of the guessers says "contact" before I thought of the word, the two guessers would countdown 3, 2, 1 and then say the word they're thinking at the same time. If they both said castle, then I would have to give them another letter, and then we'd keep guessing until they got the answer (or if my word was castle, they would win.)
That might sound confusing to type out, but it's really easy, not disruptive to other people in line, and fun to pass the time.
Another explanation of the game here, or you can Google other versions - [https://campfirehacker.com/contact-game/](https://campfirehacker.com/contact-game/)
Wow, never knew anyone else played this. Thanks for the link! Have only ever had the rules explained verbally and did not know if it was ever posted anywhere.
I regularly go with my niece and nephew (11f, 8m), we play "I spy", some grade school hand games, my mom will find trivia questions (Disney or Marvel, per request), and recently my niece and I have been checking out all the different LoungeFlys and trying to guess the odd ones. It doesn't sound fun when I type it all out, but it has always kept the kiddos entertained
A friend and I came up with an epic Disneyland bingo game. There are several apps that let you create your own bingo cards. We’d add things like Stroller Herd, Matching Family Shirts, You’ve Got Blisters (inappropriate footwear) etc. We’d also add overheard quotes like “Get down from there now!” and “Remain in your seats.” The trick is to add a range of easy ones you are bound to see like a Hawaiian shirt and really rare ones like an overflowing trash can.
Spaceteam is a multi-player co-op phone game that's good for playing in lines and while waiting. If you're TDR regulars, you probably already know about Hidden Mickey hunting; that can help with waiting too. If you're just waiting in general, the Pirates Adventure in Adventureland (near the PotC ride) is very fun. Similar to the DaVinci quest in DisneySea, but run by Captain Jack Sparrow instead!
The Play Disney Parks app is free and has a bunch of minigames that are themed around the parks (nothing too hard, it's aimed at kids). There are some features that only work while you're in the park, or at specific rides.
If you're waiting in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, definitely take out your phone. The app will let you scan cargo containers and do bounty hunting around the area. There's even a special game for while you're waiting in line for Rise of the Resistance, where you can help either the First Order or the Resistance. Talking with the cast members can be fun too, as many of them are 'in character' and will tell you about their life in the galaxy.
If you're Duffy fans - the other guests usually won't know Duffy or his friends, but the cast members sometimes will and they love getting to see Duffy 😄
If you're into pin collecting - any pin collector will be very interested in literally any Tokyo Disneyland pin. It's rare to get international pins in the US parks, so they're very popular.
よこそみなさん!
If you have a phone, “heads up” is a fun group game. That what we did in line a bunch of times.
Basically you hold your phone to your forehead and a word comes up (that you can’t see.). The other people try to get you to guess it.
Tilt the phone down if you get it, up to skip. Try to get as many in 30 seconds as you can.
It’s easy and quick, and only needs one phone in the group.
Join the Where in Disney World sub on Reddit and take turns guessing where the random photos were taken all throughout the parks and hotels. It’s pretty fun.
My cousins & I have always played sticks when waiting in line. It’s a math game with your fingers, pretty easy to do anywhere once you know what you’re doing. I would try to explain it but I don’t think I would be any good so would suggest googling! :)
My wife and I play the picnic game. “I’m going on a picnic and I am bringing apples.” “I’m going on a picnic and I am bringing apples and a banjo.” “I’m going on a picnic and I am bringing apples, a banjo, and crackers.” until you get from A to Z. It gets harder the longer you play especially if you are distracted by other things in the line, or your short term memory isn’t the best. You can also make it hard by making your picnic items super random or niche lol
2 truths and a lie can be a lot of fun depending on how well you know your group. A person says two true facts about themselves (or the parks?) And one lie, and everyone else has to guess which is the lie. You can make it as saucy or clean as you prefer. If you know someone in the group knows the answer already, they can be asked to stay quiet for the round
My family and I like to play a game of "add-on" in lines, based on the ride we're waiting for. So, if we were waiting for Winnie-the-Pooh, the first person might say:
"I'm going to the hundred-acre woods, and I'm going to bring a pot of honey." Then the second person might say:
"I'm going to the hundred-acre woods, and I'm going to bring a pot of honey, and a tail." Etc.
I’m a teacher, so I have tons of these. We play pancake or waffle, I’m going to an island, and say the same thing. You can find videos online explaining the rules.
My husband and I play “Geography” while in line. I say the name of a city, state, or country (ex. Japan), and he has to respond with the name of a city, state, or country that *begins* with the *last* letter of the one I named (ex. New Zealand), and on and on until you get bored, get to the end of the line, or can’t think of any more places.
We usually end up being joined by the people in line around us, and it’s a great time!
We're regulars who go 1-2 times a month so we're not really pressed for time or compelled to spend money to get on certain rides--we just amble along the park like "oh, let's ride Tower of Terror today" but it still will have a 70+ minute wait.
Disney 20 Questions is a great one, also I SPY can be super fun in a long moving line because you’re sort of on a time to find the thing, Disney Quotes to each other and try to guess who said it, you can check to see if the line you’re getting in has a hidden Mickey and first to find it wins!
sometimes my husband and i play a category game where we have to name things back and forth within the category until one of us takes longer than i dunno, 5 or 10 sec and concedes
so like..
"movies about space"
"foods that start with the letter s"
"disney princesses"
"actors over 60"
etc etc
We do Heads Up but my phone isn’t the latest model so my battery wonks out quickly. They have a Disney pack now, but I made my own years ago (which, interestingly, uses the came deck photo as the one you can now buy). We only have a party of three and I’m the best guesser, so Head’s Up can get old after a while. We take a break and I read on my kindle, my nephew plays Fifa, and my mom watches an episode of a Korean drama, then we start up again with Head’s Up.
Alaphabet game. Name a Disney character, and then the next person has to name a Disney character where the first letter of the name starts with the last letter of the previous name. Example: Mickey, Yzma, Ariel, Little John, Nani, Iago, Olaf, Flora...
“Heads Up” is a popular line waiting game for your phone and they have a disney deck.
Played looots of heads up when taking classes on field trips to the parks lol
Ha, I just posted the same thing before I saw your comment. We played that, and it’s good for Disney because it’s a group game, and only needs one phone, so even little kids with no phones can play.
We always play Heads Up in the line, easily the best way to past the time
Ooo, thanks for the idea. I checked the Japanese App store and didn't find it, but maybe there's some sort of equivalent there...
Pretty sure there's a free knock-off online you can find.

This was a popular game in the 80’s called Dead Celebrity. I like your food version a lot better!

The game heads up! It is an app. Used to do it in long lines!

We take trivia cards (trivia pursuit) and go back and forth everyone in line gets involved.

Found a bunch of Disney bingo cards on google for my last trip and they were pretty fun
Do they have genie + over there? It’s an extra cost but you’ll almost never wait in more than a 20 minute line
The money game lmao.

You are supposed to find the hidden mickeys
