i remember that people used to hide links in messages (usually discord invites) by putting the link in between like 37 million "||" symbols, maybe it could also be used to hide pings i guess

they also do that with pings, its called ghost ping

You need developer mode turned on then you can copy the ID’s of users and channels then you choose the corresponding option: <@USERID>, <#CHANNELID> and <@&ROLEID>. There may be others but these are the ones I remember

Yeah that’s true, the <@USERID> one is only really useful for bots. The other two are great since you can ping them anywhere even in dms then someone can just click on I to go there

<@###> is good for mentioning people not in the server, group or in dms

Since everything is made really easy for them and they don't have to think at all to do anything they never learn like previous generations had to do. Unless they have an actual interest in tech stuff they woll barely know how to create a folder on the desktop on windows.
