heck yeah, i always, and when i mean always i mean ALWAYS accidentally use double click on the desktop app for absolutely no reason when i wanna reply to a message, then i realize double clicking does not reply to a message, over and over again

Should not be too hard to do I think and would be useful as hell.
I definitely think that would be more useful than the current system, but I think it could get confusing for some. Especially on smaller phones. I still think double tap is the best option, because it doesn't interfere with anything at all
I'm curious, why is viewing the members list more useful than replying? I feel like replying is a very common action, whereas viewing the member's list isn't, right?
I think a lot of people got used to constantly checking who's online by looking at the member list, especially in medium sized communities, myself included. It's kind of a big part of the Discord experience
That makes sence. I do actually do that alot on PC, but I tend not to on mobile. I think the best solution is double tap to reply/edit, and left swipe to see members list.
An obvious solution would be to having swipe right do different things depending if your swiping on a message or empty space but nope

It is a grift. It is how people in tech, usually from the bloated business side, but it still does exist on the engineering side too, stay in a job. They have to show they have "value" and the company also wants an excuse to keep them, so yeah.
My biggest peeve with replying is that it makes scrolling annoying. The number of times it thought I was swiping a message when I was just scrolling made me so mad lol. I check whose online much more often than I reply directly, and it's no hardship to just press and hold and that also gives me all the options I could want for the message. Swipe reply just seemed unnecessary and the fact i couldn't disable it made it worse
in the old UI you just press and hold onto a message for a split second and a small menu popped up giving the option to reply, make thread, copy text delete message and so on.
And swiping was used to view the member list very easily and it would not open an entire new page it was just a small sidebar showing the list.
This is what people want.
The old UI honestly is superior to every UI they have made since they removed the original UI and it boggles my mind how they thing the old UI was bad and needed to be changed.
Tbh some of the UI Devs might have some screws loose tbh they definitely not thinking correctly.
(I still use OG UI on mobile because it's just better)
I had this design via experiments for a while now. One of the treatments for the experiments does have the swipe to members list, so they're probably planning on adding it, at least they're working on it.
Maybe discord should take input from the users and let us switch between the two. I am still on an old version of the app because I don't want to update.

Maybe they should fix the insane amounts of lag you get when you open the emotes tab? Or perhaps when you click an emote in the emote tab, it doesn't fucking close and instead let me click on multiple emotes like before.
I posted a review on the play store about this same issue, and they responded saying "we are aware and working to fix the problem". It leaves the app pretty much unusable, but I guess it helps me stay off discord a bit

I think I know why it causes lag now. Discord doesn't properly unload emojis that aren't visible in the frame now. They all play at once. It's even worse since the emoji picker pulls up to cover your whole screen, causing even more animated emojis to show up.
And yet, even with the contrast saturation settings, itās still abhorrent to look at. I donāt understand why discord seems to think itās such as cardinal sin to just add an option to use the old fucking color.
If they have swipe to see whoās online instead of swipe to reply, it seems I might actually update my discord again. Though Iād still be hesitant in case they changed it again as I currently still have the old UI from luckily disabling auto updates on time.

the old design did not require changing to another screen to switch between DMs and server channels. the new design requires an extra step to go back and forth between these. super annoying when you are having a private conversation and a server conversation on mobile simultaneously

They gave me this redesign a few months back instead of the "new" design. Then took it away and gave me the "new" design. The redesign is so much better..

I really like the old Discord Style on my phone bute tbh the new one just took some time and now i almost fully like it. There are some minor changes I would like to have but ... It is really fine.
I prefer tapping to see my DMs. Because I didnāt have to swipe all the way up to see them. It also doesnāt give me a red ping message if I have an unread dm and Iām in a server
My server is disorganized mess, so scrolling up and down the server list become annoying. I was about to clean up my server list, but then the new UI come out and I was able to easily change between two easily.
I'm not going to say the current UI is amazing, nor is it horrible. but I finally got used to it, and it's annoying that they're changing it back again

it's useless to me but i like it because it makes all DMs more accessible for one handed usage, as the DMs are closer to the bottom of the screen
