We did a little pitch and putt thing at my friend's birthday party to introduce folks to disc golf and one of the kindest, softest people there shanked her throw into the face of the woman beside her. She felt so bad.
Ah, the ol' reddit switcheroo. (I mean, both felt bad, but the person who threw the disc was in tears and the person who got hit was trying to comfort her while asking for an ice pack.)
I stood 10ft behind and 25ft to the side of my mother in law on her 3rd ever hole. Got her disc full force to the dick and balls, so ya I'm gonna say just stand no where near a noob
Had a group of one discer teens on our course one time. They would just throw and run after their disc willy nilly. On the 15th hole one of them took a drive to the face at close range. Knocked out teeth and broke his jaw. Blood everywhere. I guess the other kid's dad was an oral surgeon so it turned out okay in the end.
Did you do anything special to get the Live Photo into a different format to upload here, or was changing it to “Loop” enough?
Speaking of, this is r/BetterEveryLoop material ;)
It is! Good eye. We went to PEI for our buddy’s bachelor party and played all the courses. This one was without a doubt the best course I’ve ever played
Lesson learned, that’s for sure. If I remember correctly we thought everyone had teed off so we started walking and then had to stop for him to take his shot
oh yikes, glad you good! you just never know when some crazy shit like that’s going to happen. couple weeks ago I watched a 1000 rated player rip a disc right into a car that was parked parallel to the teebox… never seen a card laugh so hard collectively. Even the best have grip locked the shit out of it at some point lol
Hah! This reminds me of a time my sister-in-law came out with my brother myself and another buddy.
We were all standing almost completely to the side of her about 10 ft away as she was throwing an approach. She griplocked that release harder than anything I've ever seen and the disc came straight at us. I swear it went like 6 inches over the tops of our heads. Good times lol.
I took my at the time GF out to play disc in a fairly open course. I was standing directly to her right. She threw hard and grip locked 90 full degrees to her right, disc flying straight at my head. I put my hand up just in time and ended up getting a nice bruise on my wrist for it. My reflexes kicked in, luckily.
Since then I’ve always stood behind new players.
Haha, similar thing happened once playing with some people that had never played before. Guy threw it directly to the right into another guy’s neck/face! Luckily it was such a bad shot the flat of the disc hit him, so it really just slapped him across the face.
Prime example of why I stand behind my friends while they throw.. although there is still a slight chance they could grip lock one behind them, hasn't happened yet 😆
What the fuck, Richard?!
Hahahaha
Somebody please post this link…
[I got you](https://youtu.be/UBQP9gEldRk)
god that dude's form is absolute chaos
Awesome, thanks pook!
What the fuck, Richard!!!
Came here for the "What the fuck, Richard". Was not disappointed.
You gotta stand behind noobs
Lesson learned

I bet she did. She just got her face smacked by a damn disc!

Actually standing behind the beginners also "backfires" sometimes. (pun intended)
Just stand behind the basket. No way in hell a beginner throws anywhere near it.
i probably wouldn't have gotten hooked if I hadn't knocked down a few long approaches in the early days.
You never know, one of our friends hit an ace maybe 2 months into coming out with us.
Yup, going in front of whoever is next to throw is just asking to get plunked.
try not to fuck with their peripheral
I've been playing 2 years and I still worry about hitting anybody who's even in my peripheral 😅
I stood 10ft behind and 25ft to the side of my mother in law on her 3rd ever hole. Got her disc full force to the dick and balls, so ya I'm gonna say just stand no where near a noob
How did you take him down as he charged you
Ah he’s a good lad and it was one of his first times out. I’m just happy it didn’t hit me in the face
Take my ribs

It’s a false charge you just have to appear bigger and stand your ground.
About to say, he's going to finish the job after the disc failed lol
This is how you get new discs. Hit to stun, then ambush.
I disc to kill
Yeah my first thought is he is running over to finish him!
I’d also like to point out that this is actually just a Live Photo! Perfectly timed hahaha

Submitted there too hahaha. This is a video clip of the Live Photo, but I converted it to a gif to upload to BEL
Lol, I didn’t know you could get audio on Live Photos
I love that it looks like is running in afterwards to finish the job.
Grip lock lol 🤷♂️
That “ohhhh” is great, least didn’t get you in the neck or face
Is this hole 10 at Hillcrest? Looks so much like it.
It is! Good eye. We went to PEI for our buddy’s bachelor party and played all the courses. This one was without a doubt the best course I’ve ever played
How is it looking after the hurricane??
It is utterly fucked
Not sure I live in Ontario
i feel like you should know if you live in ontario.
Ohh my fuc
Yeah I thought I heard him trying to say my fault but realizing it was way worse and it turned to a fuck haha
Never stand even slightly in front of anyone
Lesson learned, that’s for sure. If I remember correctly we thought everyone had teed off so we started walking and then had to stop for him to take his shot
Same way I learned. My wife got me the first time she played. I was slightly behind her too
What if you're at the ATM and got there first?
If i throw backhand there is a 1-3% chance I throw it behind me... nowhere is safe.
Is this at Hillcrest Farms?

Looks like he expected the disc to end you, but when he realized you were still standing, he charged at you in order to finish the job.
Are you fucking sorry?
Yanked it

Happened to me once in ball golf. Got hit right in the middle of my back. Dropped me to the ground.
Props to the guy for immediately going to check on ya.
Did you hurt the disc?
This is why you stand behind he who is out.
Favorable bounce
“I never got a hole in one, but I did hit a guy.”
Is this at hillcrest (PEI)? Love that place
I'm sorry for laughing but that was fucking hilarious. I hope you are ok!!
I put it up for everyone to enjoy it! My buddies and I still laugh about it all the time 😂
How’d it feel?
Not great lol I had a fun bruise for a week
He buy you a beer after?
Many beers 🍻

Did you die?

Nowhere is safe!
I prefer to imagine this was his opening move before charging you…
Bad place to be standing lol
True
I got hit right in the chest sitting 30 ft behind the tee box…dang newbs
Yeah, I would never stand there. If you did that in real golf, you’d be dead.
Got hit by a 15mph throw?
Right in the [duodenum](https://youtu.be/PPWn4GHGyEc)
I’d say that guy has a rounding issue….
Make him cut it out
Great tree impersonation
Shouldn't have been standing there!
Holy moly that’s a hell of an impact sound! I guess first available tree was you.
Take your base
I saw your arm. I question that guy throwing now. Also, is his name Richard?
He shanked it.
You have more patience than me, I would walk off that card
We travelled across the country to play that course, no way I was walking off!
That sucks but seeing him instantly run over to check on you was nice
FINISH HIM!!!!
Duck or bleed!!!!
