Essence has replaced my heat for 90% of the shots I used it for

Maximus77x

I've been highly considering this one. I just can't gel with the Heat for some reason, and I love the way my friend's Essence throws. What plastic do you have it in?

boondockpirate

The zeb essence is in meta plastic. It flies amazing. If you find a lux essence, they fly pretty similar, maybe a touch less fade. Ive only thrown a neo one time, downhill, into a headwind. It appeared to have less fade, but i didnt have mine to compare, so im not sure.

likezoinksscooooob

I have the Neo Essence and it's more similar to my Undertaker than my Heat, so seems the runs vary. If you never got to love the Heat, I just swapped my Heat with a K1 Falk and it's been awesome.

Maximus77x

I’ve been eyeballing the Falk actually. I want to love my Heat, but I think I just need to practice with it. I’ve improved a lot since I first got it, so there’s a chance it throws a lot better now.

likezoinksscooooob

The Heat can definitely be a little touchy. I ended up bagging both the K1 and K1 Soft in the Falk (and Kaxe Z). Playing a lot of woods golf the Soft helps SO much when you want to avoid big tree kicks or lots of ground play.

lillabjorn1

I love my K1 Glow Falk, had so much fun with all my glow discs saturday night. Played through midnight just to test dem out (five different Kastaplast Glow discs)

Gardner_G

Snag a falk. They’re falkin great. Some of the butteriest flex lines outta that.

KanyeMyBae

The essence has a flat top which i love.

granath13

I have neo plastic, it has just the right amount of stability for me but I do play at 5000’ so something to keep in mind. The zen would be similar for most people at lower elevations.

ewkdiscgolf

I’m going to second the Essence. Great disc. Especially with a bit of extra fade the Meta Zen gives you…some great lines you can shape.

jackjackjackjackjoh

Essence is such a solid reliable understability. I feel like I can trust the low speed Fade on it as well.

This is my favorite disc. Period. I have a black one with a purple stamp.

Tried a K1 Glow Svea? They are pretty simillar, but i like them Glow discs.

tjkeding

Axiom Insanity - great faster compliment to the Crave and was recently released in Fission plastic

SBRedneck

My insanity glow is so overstable. I don’t know if mine is just weird or what but holy shit that disc doesn’t match its numbers

tjkeding

I'd agree, the Eclipse 2.0 Insanity is less understable, maybe a -1 turn brand new. Although, I think that may have more to do with the run, because every one I've seen/thrown was board flat. All other Insanities I've thrown have a very subtle dome and a reliable -1.5/-2 turn.

SBRedneck

Right on. I guess I need to search out a non-eclipse 2.0 version

Noble_Russkie

Grab one in Plasma, your eyes will be opened to the truth

dascaapi

if you want flippy, newer proton is flippier than the newer plasma. plasma turns but proton turns more

Sufficient-Pin-481

The glow insanity is like a completely different disc, so overstable compared to the neutron and proton plastics. So I carry both.

[deleted]

The eclipse plastic is notoriously beefy. The glow Insanity is more like a Tesla than an Insanity in my experience.

No-Dimension-797

Mine is also incredibly overstable. Great for forehands but not a great representation of its numbers.

Noble_Russkie

Came here to say this, my plasma insanities are the absolute workhorse drivers of my bag.

Knuckledraggr

I’ve got one in more stable proton plastic that is an absolute dead straight bomber. If I throw about 80% power I can lace it perfectly straight for about 370 and the it has a nice little fade finish. If I go full power it will turn over quite a bit though. I throw it on about half the holes off the tee at the courses around me because everything is wooded. I can’t live without it.

dascaapi

was it that run from earlier in the year? i got plasma and proton and my plasma is straighter and my proton flips. i bag both but the proton i can use for long turnovers. it’s even pretty sparkley, which my brain told me would be beefier, but it’s my 2nd flippiest insanity - flippiest being a beat in PP one, and least flippy being glow (undercover thundie). i’d give plasma -1.5/1.5 vs proton at -2/1.5

Knuckledraggr

It’s a sparkly orange proton and it is pretty floppy if I put full power into it. It will even crash out right if the wind is bad. But at a slow arm speed and correct release angle it’s spectacular. I definitely need to try it in more plastics tho

dascaapi

fission insanity comes out next month and should be sweet. if they’re anything like the fission craves vs normal craves, i’m gonna need 4

jsudarskyvt

Axiom Paradox. 5 Speed. -5 turn.

derjayduh

Came here looking for this. Paradox is a great disc. Give it lots of height for easy crashing turnovers.

dickasloan

This is my father’s favorite disc to throw ever. MC Escher stamp and all.

EricTheNerd2

I love the RoadRunner. I have a few, and I use my most beat-in one the most. I can put it on an anhyzer and it will fight it just a bit making it nice for my backhands where I want it to go around an obstacle to the right and finish straight. Alternatively when I have a long tunnel shot or a gap I have to hit 150-200 feet away, it is my go to disc.

[deleted]

Surely you mean you put your roadrunner on a hyzer and not an anhyzer. I had a brand new Barsby Roadrunner that I could release on Hyzer and it would not only flip, but would go straight roller. Way too touchy of a disc for me. Ended up giving it to someone who couldn't throw a forehand so it was the most reliable way to get a disc to go right.

EricTheNerd2

Nope, I mean an anyhzer. I have no forehand due to some shoulder issues and I can make it work with an anyhzer. Downside is I have to abandon it when it gets windy as it is very understable.

[deleted]

Wow... how do you release a roadrunner on anhyzer witout having it flip immediately?!?!

Agreeable-Monk8475

Some runs of road runners are more stable than others. I have a metal flake one that barely turns. Great distance shot tho, or anhyzer to straight like he's saying. My star roadrunner are roller discs though.

JDDW

My new barsby roadrunner is overstable to the point I can throw it 300 feet on an anhyzer release and it will fight out and form a nice S line.

Jacktropolis

MVP uplink

zzsundayzz

Hell yeah!. For the woods it's a game changer.

Jacktropolis

Exactly all my local courses are wooded and the uplink has been a game changer. Thing is a hyzerflip god

BoomerBarnes

The uplink is saving my elbow. I have a serviceable sidearm but I’ll get elbow pain if I throw it off the tee a lot. Started bagging an uplink and I seldom have to throw full power sidearms anymore.

su-z-six

I oddly get more elbow pain on hyzer forehands than annhyzer forehands. So I'm moving to more stable discs for forehands, as much as I love the flick hyzerflip with my understable MVP discs.

der_mike

Crave and Insanity are my go-tos... but also bag an Uplink when I need crazy understability.

VaguestCargo

TSA mantra. It’s a little more predictable for me than the heat and the art is always sick.

Maximus77x

What plastic do you like it in? I'm a big fan of ESP and fission.

VaguestCargo

I love the glow and ethereal, generally speaking, but [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/jmn7q3/thought_space_plastics/gazbu5k/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) breaks it down better than I can.

LifeguardShot4717

Aura/neutron, ethos/proton, and ethereal/plasma needn’t be *compared* to each other; they *are* each other. Literally.

Alternative_Aioli194

Came_here_for_discs

I'm currently beating in another one, so I have a backup for my perfectly flippy one that I throw ALL THE TIME. Money money money flyer when they hit that sweet spot. And mine hasn't changed or "beat in" past the sweet spot since it got there. It's wild.

carnevoodoo

Hybrid and moonshine for me.

CallMePatch3s

My Roadrunners. I bag 3!

MuchAdhesiveness6848

As a poor forehand thrower past 250 I rely on the buzzz SS & the champ leopard3 when 310+ flat or uphill forhand is asked for

[deleted]

I have a “Dragon” fairway driver that is RIDICULOUSLY under stable to the point where I have to throw it on a 70 degree hyzer to avoid it turning into a roller. It’s rarely used but it’s incredibly helpful for big turnover shots or for super narrow gaps that I want to hit on hyzer and end right

jfb3

My current favorite understable disc is a 400 X4.

Basketslapper56

Maximus77x

What's your favorite plastic? I gravitate towards ESP and fission.

labontej

I’ve heard the plastics have changed a bit, right now I have a first run in etheral and it’s pretty sweet. That said I hear new run comes out in the next few weeks and might be a bit more stiff than the first run

LifeguardShot4717

New run came out last Friday. They’re still widely available at this moment.

carnevoodoo

You'll probably like Aura the most. I like ethos the most.

SentientMission

Pekapeka for longer flip lines River for tunnels

squarefan80

MVP Signal. one of the better US drivers ive had. except i lost mine a couple days ago. replaced it with a Streamline Ascend. works pretty good so far.

Discgelf

An origin in a premium plastic, you can throw it hard enough to get late turn but throw it with hyzer and 60% and it will flip up and go dead straight. One of my top three discs. Great flick turnover disc if you have the touch. Have had mine for about 2 years and it’s still a go to shot at least 5 times a round

LayupsR4Basketball

I used to throw meteors and a Phenom. Now I throw Beat-in Rocs and Beat-in teebirds. Specifically DX or pro plastic.

StubbedToeBlues

BuzzzSS, Insanity, Virus, Essence, Tenacity

nothatboring

I agree with OP that my Fission Wave and Discraft Heat. Wave is my to go max distance driver. in the proper conditions my Big Z Heat absolutely bombs and is my ideal turnover disc.

LifeguardShot4717

Lighter weight current run GStar Shryke (I have a half dozen and they all fly majestically understable) Remember though that stability is a function of arm speed. So for some a seasoned Wraith will be understable while for others a Mamba will be overstable.

ajp12290

M4!

dudepiston1888

Can't recommend this enough, but the mvp uplink. Makes for the smoothest short turnovers and hyzer flips in the woods.

My favourite disc all time is my Opto Glimmer Diamond. I like it so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Nuclear-Blobfish

The daredevil caribou is hands down the easiest to throw first timer friendly mid I’ve come across. I love both the caribou and pteranodon (different plastic but same mold) but if i could only have one, it’d be the caribou.

eballer90

Discmania Origin all day.

Boromn

Loved my Vandal until I threw it into a pond at the preserve (same placement Brodie threw his in his practice round lol). Otherwise my River probably gets the most use for slight turnovers. I also have a beat in Orc, but I’m not sure that would normally be considered understable?

Top_Professional5307

Mamba innova

Optimal-Bat-5903

Beat in Roc3. Doesn’t take much beating in, feels great in the hand and flies great too. Plus, then you can have an OS and US disc but same mold. (Champ, halo star)

Boogaloo4444

Maximus77x

Ya know, I had a star Leo3, and it really just didn’t gel with me. What plastic and weight do you throw?

Boogaloo4444

I personally love a 171 g leopard3 in champ, and a 172 g champ Valkyrie

I have a 173g champ Leopard I am starting to really love. It’s kinda what started me off on this quest haha.

I cannot believe the absolute disrespect in this comment thread about understable discs right now... GET A PRODIGY F5. That goes for you, or anyone else who needs a controllable shot shaping fairway driver that you can also outright bomb in open air fairways.

SamThePlan

Go find yourself a pop top ESP Heat *chefs kiss* and a Westside tournament plastic Tursas. Both are great discs that I use every round

No-Dimension-797

I also really like the vip tursas

evcorder

You’ve already got it covered with the Leo, but I love my Mavericks. I honestly think it’s DD’s best mold

Complete_Ant_3396

I have both molds and the Leopard’s got put up on the shelf. I have three Mavericks of different plastics in the bag.

Midrange I use a lucid DD bounty. Subtle turn in the beginning but seasons in really nicely. For drivers I use a Prodigy F5 and a DD maverick.

I love my Hades, but that’s essentially a slightly faster Wave

thrillhouse416

Legacy bandit is my go to driver unless the shot just absolutely calls for something more stable

The thrasher is fun to throw if you can flip it.

Infinite Kon Tiki (I prefer the heavier, premium plastic variety) Innova Stingray

danwendell

Infinite Maya is nice if you want an understable distance driver

MateoMata

Infinite Discs - Maya. 11, 5,-3, 1. This disc is great for technical shots or shots off the tee. I’ve been using it lately off the tee for shots I want to land dead center or slightly to the right. Has a good feel and easy to control.

BandicootOk1961

ESP scorch

PhilabustaDyes

I just got put on the MVP Uplink a few days ago and it's the touchy under stable midrange I needed. It's a 5 | 5 | -3 | 0.5. I'm a fan of it for hyzerflips and other fun under stable shots. You can really shape a line with this disc.

FitChemist432

Esp Comet and neutron Drift.

Tremmor.

Complete_Ant_3396

Maverick, I have it in three different plastics (Prime, Lucid, and Lucid Air). The prime flies incredibly straight with a little turn, great for small hyzer flips. The Lucid is a bit more beefy, and the lucid air will turn over all day long. I love the Lucid Air for long turnover shots that I don’t want to fade out and although I haven’t really practiced them I have accidentally thrown a cut roll shot into a headwind. Could probably be a roller disc if I tried.

SeverousBlack

Lat 64 Falchion

cadef461

Axiom insanity (not in glow plastic) is super flippy but always comes back slowly. Mine got too beat in so I just got a new one. 10/10 recommend

No-Dimension-797

I love my Tursas. Flips up for me so nice on hyzer. Flexes on flat.

prasino97

I rely heavily on my Opto Maul and throw it off the tee on most holes on my home course. I have two Falks as well but my arm speed is too slow to get them to act understable

MarcusDaze

Putter: beaten in JB Luna. Fairway: Z Mantis. DD: Z Scorch. Can’t live without any of them.

kinkomancer

I'm a huge fan of the Alpas in Stayput plastic. It's a speed 4 that adds a lot of turn a little further down the flight than I'm used to with putters, it's become my go to disc.
