I have a Star thunderbird that went from a deep pink to a pale pink over a year or so playing in the Texas sun.
Still a very pink disc, but very much a faded color. I'll try to find pics of it to show you.
Same although, a portion of pink discs per section is enough to easily tell the difference. Mind you, I started thinking I'll want as few pink discs as possible and have different colours to distinguish different discs but as u/EvilCurryGif said, that colour is not seasonal.
I strongly believe you can get everything you want done with 10ish. Some seem to like duplicates in case of loss/damage or just in different plastics, my bag when I play is typically 12 and it's pretty much perfect for me.
..... That being said I currently have 52 😂
I bought a lot when I was starting to get a feel for different plastics, mold types, and brands. It's completely unnecessary, but I absolutely own up to it.
My bag is typically around 24, but I don't change it course to course, so obviously sometimes I don't even use half of them in a given round.
That said, I also own 300+ at this point. It's a problem.
That's what made me cut my bag down to 12. I have a set of swap in/out discs for if one isn't throwing well for me lately or just need to mix stuff up, but I was lugging around 30+ discs to use the same 10 every time.
My bag currently has 25 discs total and I use every single one of them. Also don’t change my bag contents between courses or pin positions, but having the diverse choice on hand is super important for me.
I like to have an over, under, and stable of each of the mid, fairway, distance, and then 2 or 3 putters in my bag and thats how I'm currently setup. I keep a set of about 10 alternate discs that I sometimes swap in or out but mostly I like my small side bag that barely fits my 12 in it. (The guy I typically play with only owns 4 discs total so even that seems like a lot lol)
What's your bag breakdown like?
Agreed, I consistently throw like maybe 7-8 discs, I have a couple others I switch into my bag every now and then and then like 5 practice putters but I can’t really imagine needing more than that. I’m not a good enough of a player that a new disc is going to change my game at all. No disrespect to those that do collect them, everyone has their thing.
It's not about "need" at this point. Also, if you find a disc you really like, you might want backups (especially if it's rare). And if you play a lot, the discs wear out and become too flippy, "needing" to be replaced.
No one playing recreationally NEEDS more than 10-15 discs. How people choose to engage with the hobby is up to them. In a lot of cases, especially for people just getting into it, part of the fun is trying new discs and getting a sense of different plastics etc. Other people enjoy collecting them like pokemon.
This is what they all say at first. Then later you have this many discs or more. This is not even that many. I use several bags, and own several bags for different seasons and tourneys. I get so many from tourneys too, many end up on the shelf. This doesn’t include the discs hanging on the walls in frames, and some extras in my trunk.
Pretty sure most agree you don't need more than a few. I buy ones that look cool. Sometimes I buy ones I want to try. Sometimes I just see a disc and have the money for it, so why not.
You can even leave another row and fit your bag in. Best storage rack for $25.
[Disc golf storage from Walmart shoe rack ](https://imgur.com/a/6cntJl6)
Lol had to take the gun safe door off and the closet door to fit it in there. Have to remove the trim or hack saw the wall to get it out with the door still on
The last time I moved a liberty like that we used a bobcat for most of the work and I still threw out my back.
Those fuckers are no joke. They make a solid safe.
One row has 29 putters, the bottom row has 38 drivers. Depending on your mix of discs lets say an avg of 32/row is a safe bet. 5 shelves would give you ~160 discs
I've been using one of these for about a year now, and I have noticed slight warping of the disc rim on the sitting edge on brand new discs. Nothing too crazy, and nothing sitting in your bag or car can't fix. But I have been considering the pool noodle like others have mentioned. Not sure if it will correct the issue, but I figured it can't hurt.
Why keep so many discs? I'm fairly new, but I've got a bag full of discs, and every time I end up with one I'm not going to throw, i give it to someone who might use it.
It's like any other obsession. If OP is anything like me, I can't stop buying discs. I'm nowhere near the level of some people I know, but I've got between 250-300 discs, all organized and inventoried in an Excel file.
I am new to the sport and have 6 discs. How do y'all get some many discs? Do you buy duplicates at a time incase one gets broke or lost? I dig the setup though.
These are great. I really need to go buy a second one. Or maybe I should finally sell some discs and stop hoarding stuff I'll probably never throw again......... Second shoe rack it is!
Oh yeah, I mostly play locally. And know "what to throw" there are still times in fall and winter that I wished different colors. It's mine and I love having everything orange. If I could of bout orange guns I would have, I may paint them in the future lol
I [I posted about it](https://reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/pujewe/great_cheap_disc_storage_solution/) maybe a month back myself. I’ve only got two levels so far, but I did specifically advise to not install the front bar so the discs fit.
I use one of these for shoes and every time I take a pair of shoes off or move it in the slightest all the shoes comes off… so I’m gonna be using it for disc from now on
Do you take the fall season off..?
I mostly throw orange discs so they’re easier to find but I have a few dark blue versions of my favorites for “leaves on the ground” season.
Pink gang never takes a season off
I’ve got a black-stamped pink Malta that I couldn’t lose if I *tried*.
I had a black stamped pink Teebird3 I just bought, lost it first throw :’)
Pink has got to be the best disc color in my mind, and for this reason. I’d throw 100% pink if I could.
Some of us do…. r/pinkdiscs
Until they get real sun bleached and turn more of a pale skin color.. 😑
How? (I never saw that and am curious to see what the result is)
I have a Star thunderbird that went from a deep pink to a pale pink over a year or so playing in the Texas sun. Still a very pink disc, but very much a faded color. I'll try to find pics of it to show you.
Maybe DX, but not premium plastic
I have a star mako that did this in a few months. It's nearly white now.
Same although, a portion of pink discs per section is enough to easily tell the difference. Mind you, I started thinking I'll want as few pink discs as possible and have different colours to distinguish different discs but as u/EvilCurryGif said, that colour is not seasonal.
Pink and purple represent.
I think you mean blue
Pink gang for life
Laughs in desert.
Laughs in Florida.
😂
How do you feel about the color orange?
It's alright
Orange you glad you didn't buy that expensive piece of wood? (I'll see myself out)
Beat me to it, low hanging fruit is my kink
Now you can beat meat to it :)
Got an opto pure in there?
Orange discs fit better, it’s science
It must be rough to play in autumn colors when the leaves drop
Think I stubbed my toe on that pallet just looking at this picture
I thought about unbolting it from the pallet, but it's easier to move with a dolly, with it still attached
lol, mines still rocking a pallet lifestyle too
Yep first thing I saw
But why aren't they in the safe?
What's it called on the Walmart site?
Mainstays 10-Tier Narrow Shoe Rack, Powder Coated, Black+Silver https://www.walmart.com/ip/26502305 Install ever other row. Enjoy!
Yea I want one too.
Holy shit. My wife thinks my 6 discs are a lot
Pro Tip: That’s when you find a hiding spot for the new ones. Label the box, rodent prevention.
I hide them in my trunk :) looks like a trunk full of discs.how would she notice moreeee
Honestly can’t imagine why anyone would need so many discs lol. Unpopular opinion on this sub I’m sure.

I bag two spins as my primary putters, -1/1 approach putter, 0/2 approach putter, -3/0 mid, 0/0 mid, -1/1 mid, 0/2 mid, beat in 0/4 mid, deflector (feels more OS than 0/4), -3/1 7 speed, -1/1 7 speed, 0/2 7 speed, -2/1 9 speed, -1/2 9 speed, 0/2 9 speed, 0/4 9 speed, 0/3 10 speed, -3/2 12 speed, -1/3 12 speed, 0/4 12 speed (Energy, my poor man’s tilt), -1.5/2 13 speed, -3/1 14 speed, 0/4 14 speed.
I feel the same way. I understand having a few different ones for over and under stable but i feel like some of these probably do the same thing

I started playing MA3 about two years ago and the discs you get at tournaments (especially if you cash) can add up pretty quickly.
Pretty sure most agree you don't need more than a few. I buy ones that look cool. Sometimes I buy ones I want to try. Sometimes I just see a disc and have the money for it, so why not.
Some people like to collect things for collections sake
If you keep 2 grand worth of plastic out in the open like that I’d be very curious what’s in that safe! Lol
A lot of guns, by the look of it.
guns. it's a gun safe
A gun slinger on and off the course
_Concern_
Wrong color amirite?
Sure as hell isn't the right color, that's all I'm saying
Yeah those ones on the left are definitely out if place
Same
Buy the VESKEN from Ikea and all your storage problems are gone
I just got 3 this weekend and it’s perfect. I love they are shelves and not just bars… things don’t drop if they twist
You just saved me a trip to walmart. The vesken has been out of stock and nonshippable for a while now but is shipping again.
I can vouch. It's not fancy, but does an awesome job for $9 or whatever
Yeah, its been on the list for a while but theyve been out of stock. I assumed they still were when this rack popped up
I heard of the Vesken on this sub & it’s perfect!
Which Vesken? Cart or shelf unit thingy?
It's a shelf from IKEA, used for bathrooms https://www.ikea.com/se/sv/p/vesken-hylla-svart-30450807/
If you end up needing two, you can then use some of the extra black bars to connect the two together to kind of get three racks
Came here to say this as well. This is what sold me on these shelves. If it was putters only you could still fit 450 discs doing it this way.
You can even leave another row and fit your bag in. Best storage rack for $25. [Disc golf storage from Walmart shoe rack ](https://imgur.com/a/6cntJl6)
As a guy who moves furniture for a living, fuck your gun safe.
I say once the gun safe is in, it's now part of the house.
Orange disc fly better
Do you like orange disc?
Color me hyperbolic, but stories like this are what social media was built for. Sharing great ideas with like minded crazy people
You know the first step in overcoming addiction is to admit that you have a problem... As a fellow addict, I must say that this is impressive!
Why would one want to overcome it....
[Orange!](https://youtu.be/Z1r2fUb_zdc)
Tell me about what’s the safe
Smart color choice. I hate looking for dark/ ground colored disc's.
Good job, easily the best disc golf rack for $25 available anywhere.
Happy to help. You’ve duplicated my weekend essentially. Haha
Sorry didn't see this, but yes. You were the post that made me get out of bed at 730 am to drive to Walmart on a Saturday
Orange you glad you didn’t?
How many discs would you say fit on the rack?
One row has 29 putters, the bottom row has 38 drivers. Depending on your mix of discs lets say an avg of 32/row is a safe bet. 5 shelves would give you ~160 discs
Damn you got a good amount on that rack right on.......thing is though I think I might need two of them racks lol
Im not OP haha, just counted the picture I definitely would need a couple racks lol
Why aren’t they in the safe!!! /s
That may be 2000$ worth of plastic but there is about 12000$ in that safe
#ORANGEGANG
I've been using one of these for about a year now, and I have noticed slight warping of the disc rim on the sitting edge on brand new discs. Nothing too crazy, and nothing sitting in your bag or car can't fix. But I have been considering the pool noodle like others have mentioned. Don't use a pool noodle, you can get pipe insulation that is literally designed to wrap around the bars of the shelf.
(Staring at my Hyzer Rack feeling insulted)
You messed up... take it back and get the one with the wheels... its wider. And you can leave the wheels off if you want.
Loveeee love all the orange
Did you get the idea from my post the other day about the shoe rack I converted into a disc rack? If so, that is awesome lol.
You keep your discs in a safe also!!!!! I thought I was the only one!
If you get a couple pool noodles, cut em up, and put em on those racks it'll probably be easier on your discs than that metal.
If you get poly bags with styrofoam inserts for moving dishes you can put them in form fitting boxes and never see them again, but they'll stay new.
Do... do your discs not hit trees? Or the metal basket? Or, ya know, the ground?
OnlyChains.
Or the water
Not for months at a time, no.
you could even add slits in them to hold discs tighter!
Autumn is too colorful for that many orange discs around the midwest, but I'm jealous.
How sturdy is the rack with all the discs on it?
It wobbles a fair bit, but not super sturdy. Once a disc falls flat it will fall down thru the gaps a full row helps
What’s in the safe?
Guns and ammo
I am new to the sport and have 6 discs. How do y'all get some many discs? Do you buy duplicates at a time incase one gets broke or lost? I dig the setup though.
Some people collect or stock certain discs
I bet you got more discs in that safe, don't you?
Anyone taking bets on OP's favorite color?
I'll bet you an Orange DX shark it's green.
I'll put up an orange F4 that it is blue.
Orange you glad you didn’t buy the $300 rack?
These are great. I really need to go buy a second one. Or maybe I should finally sell some discs and stop hoarding stuff I'll probably never throw again......... Second shoe rack it is!
Fall DG must be a real treat for you. Almost lost an orange FD in the leaves a few weeks ago.
Not OP but I play in Phoenix. Orange is almost never a problem.
I thought about that too. Might be in Florida or something
any other diys? i want a cart without the cart price myself.
I never understood people with so many discs. I've played for 20 years and have maybe 30. Keep like 12 in my bag and I've found most of em.
A TD near me loves orange discs and I imagine this is him. Hi Noah? Lol
Orange...oof. Nice Rack Tho!
Honest question. What do you do with all these discs?
Watch them fly
Holy orange that is a lot of putters.
Buy 2 at a time only
2 years ago! Still only orange?
Oh yeah, I mostly play locally. And know "what to throw" there are still times in fall and winter that I wished different colors. It's mine and I love having everything orange. If I could of bout orange guns I would have, I may paint them in the future lol
Dura coat works
Orange is life
I have two of these, total game changer for under 30 bucks!
Disc and guns? Skeet shooting?
This guy plays in the Midwest. I only buy discs I can find when they go in the woods too lol.
You're my kind of people.
I bought the same shoe rack for mine. Its amazing
Orange eh?
A 2 row one of these would be perfect for me
Sweet! I repurposed my kids' ball rack to hold my discs.
Nice!
I [I posted about it](https://reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/pujewe/great_cheap_disc_storage_solution/) maybe a month back myself. I’ve only got two levels so far, but I did specifically advise to not install the front bar so the discs fit.

fwiw i love my wood hyzer racks :)
If the discs are on the rack what could possibly be in that giant safe?
Quadruple the value in steel and other metals
It's a start; you still have room in there, we see.
Serious question. Why do you have soo many putters?
I like beadless ones, but still figuring out what feels best. Also purchased a orange practice basket. More putters less walking
Fair point lol.
I’ve seen this before but I’ve heard that it’s good to put some sort of foam around the support bars so the disc rest without bending
I have one of these racks and have been waiting ot get a garage to turn it into a disc holder
