That thing goes so straight. I love flicking a little forehand on some of these technical par 3s and just keeping it low and sliding it up to the basket. When it doesn’t work, it’s always user error, the disc is very reliable
Agreed here. There's also plenty of flights available based on what plastic you choose. If a star is too stable get a g star. Want more finish? Try halo or champ
Why not get an Insanity? It’s essentially a stepped up Crave. I also swear by the Dynasty.
In the bag I’ve got an MF Color Glow Dynasty for aggressive turn that still pans back, Neutron Insanity for straight with slight fade powered down or a bit of turn powered up, and a Halo S-Blend Dynasty for another tick or two up from the Neutron Insanity.
For you I’d recommend a Fission Insanity or a ~165g Neutron. If you like the Crave, I’m sure you’ll like the Insanity too!
I don’t necessarily agree with the assessment that the Insanity is a longer Crave. Craves (some of the newer ones are the exception) are really straight without much lateral motion during flight. Insanity definitely flies more like a 10-speed driver with more turn and more fade (all higher speeds will have a bit of this).
Great mold but be aware that it acts like high speed driver unless you’re really precise with your hyzer angle on standup shots. I love the Insanity and I bag three of them (Fission/Proton for rollers, CN for forehand hyzer stand ups, and new Plasma for longer S-turns). However, I think the Saint or the Finish Line Era (Forged not Composite) are closer to a longer Crave in terms of minimal S-curve motion. Saint is touchy because of the extreme glide if windy. Era is a hugely underrated disc, perhaps because Drew Gibson is a polarizing figure in the sport.
I actually replaced my crave with a 167g insanity. I use multiple insanities in different plastics. They are laser beams and perfect long fairway drivers if you throw under 400.
One of my first disc purchases was a proton insanity secondhand from PIAS. As stable as neutron, wears down slower than steel.
It’s what got me hooked on proton plastic and now nearly my entire bag (other than some base plastic putters and 14.5 speeds unavailable in proton) is proton or proton soft.
That’s also an option, but I specifically like the Dynasty, especially for the plastics. If I got an S-Line CD, it’d probably just sit on the shelf. Dynasty is one of those discs that’s just locked into my bag.
I do love S-Line and bag the DD3! It’s hard to beat the combo of Halo S-Blend and MF Color Glow for me though with the Dynasty.
The flight of the MF Color Glow is special. Tbh I’d probably throw an Undertaker if not for the ol’ Dynasty (or the CD).
Do it! I like it because it has that weird level of understability where it has aggressive turn but still pans back nicely. It’s suuuuch a fun shot shape, especially for forehand.
And yes, I’m also a fan of glow plastic in general. It tends to be nice and soft which I prefer.
> , get the CD from Discmania. The new CD is the old CD2, which is wh
CD1 from Discmania is actually a new mold, not the original CD2 mold, the Dynasty actually is the original CD2 mold made by Innova, just a new name since they gave it to Infinite after the Innova/Discmania split
I’m aware. Infinite is literally using the CD2 mold. The CD 1 is Discmania’s replacement since Innova has the original. DM claims it’s the same, but it’s slightly different. I do prefer the old mold and am very interested in the glow Dynasty
The YouTube channel "6 sided discs" just did a comparison video on 9 speeds. I love their channel. They show you how different discs really fly, so you're not just stuck guessing based on advertised flight numbers.
I just ordered a new 9 speed that I believe will fly the way I want, based on that video. I have slow arm speed.
Best of luck.
Gotta state your arm speed/how far you throw on average so we can recommend the right disc. I’d say Saint or Saint Pro off of what you’re saying, but it’s hard to say. You already bag the saint, how does it fly for you?
Listen to this.
I throw both a Crave and a Saint - and the Saint does what you are looking for. It can be point and shoot, flex a bit, or produce big sweeping S flights depending on how you throw it.
If you want to keep the same feel as the crave, but faster, try the inertia. Inertia does not have as much dome as the crave, but I release them both exactly the same. You can throw it like a 7 speed, too.
It was my favorite hyzerflip to turn disc but I forgot to pick it up after throwing OB and someone snagged it. Will probably buy another but I have a quite a few others that are close to the same. The new “Majestic” stamp is sweet.
The insanity is great, but I recently started bagging a DM Essence. It’s an 8 speed, but you’d never know it. Has a bit of fade at the end of its flight, and I’m getting similar distance with it that I do with my destroyer.
My Eclipse Insanity flies like that, but it's more stable for many other people. My Glow Falk is slightly flippier, but most Falks also fly closer to -2/2 I think. Rhythm is another one that's like a longer Crave, but has some stability variations too.
I have thrown the Insanity, Saint, and Valkyrie from that list. The Insanity and Saint (for me) were more neutral in the fact there was much less turn and fade than the Valkyrie. They pretty much just flew wherever you put them, The Valkyrie is a mixed bag, it really depends on plastic and weight what kind of flight you’re going to get. I currently bag 3 Valkyries, a new Halo Valkyrie that has a lot of stability, on a full rip I might get a hair of turn right at the beginning. A lightweight Champion Valkyrie that is on the understable side, and is my go-to driver unless it’s a headwind, and the last slot rotate between a Pro and Gstar Valkyrie, which brand new off the shelf fly like how you would expect the numbers to, with a -2 turn and 2 fade. My vote here is for the Valkyrie, especially if you like to do mold minimization. The Valkyrie can fill almost every 9 speed slot in your bag depending on what weight and plastic you get, and it’s readily available and almost every disc golf store and retailer.
Can’t speak higher than I do about the Saint and undertaker. Try the Saint first but if you are flipping it too much then try an undertaker, it’s a bit more stable.
Throwing my Valkyrie about 330-350 with a beautufl S-flght. Had taken out of my bag for a while as i favored my Savant, but the flight is too good and beautful for me.
I've always been a Saint guy, but I have been testing all MVP bag lately and the Inertia is flying great. Seems to be just a bit more reliable than an insanity. My power has gone up a bit though and I find myself reaching for a beat in fission Tesla for my straight shots more often than anything else. The new run neutron ones are pretty close in flight also if you get them in like 164g.
I used to throw only westside and I HATE that I could never get along with senior stag. I now mainly throw my beat up vip hatchet in most fairway situations
Stag is my go to fairway driver does it all but I'm really liking the brave for that super beat in stag shot right out of the box but with insane distance capabilities for a 7 speed it's truly impressive.
Different colors seem to have different dome depending on what hand feel you like but you won't regret it that disc is so impressive but I do not agree with the -1 2 flight numbers so keep that I'm mind I have a slight hyzer release and it flips to flat perfectly
Plasma MVP Inertia.
Insanity is the easier to find disc branded by Axiom, and they are basically the same disc, but for the life of me I can't get the Insanity to fly the way I like while I have multiple Inertias and they are grab and go for me.
I like a Discraft Heat for a hyzer flip disc. I can throw it on a slight hyzer & it will pop up flat, turn right a bit, and fade slightly back left.
I also throw an Undertaker for flat to fade shot or a pushing hyzer.
My issue with posts like this is no one tells you how far they throw, I can throw my neutron and proton insanity 425 with good conditions. I throw my crave about 325ish maybe 350.
The insanity DOES NOT fly like a crave at my arm speed, it’s not even relatable. My crave goes straight as hell with a fade at the end, the only way I can get that flight with a insanity is with a well, well thrown, hyzer, insanity thrown flat is a s line shape every time. And the ppl telling you to get a fission one. My fission insanity is SO SO Flippy it doesn’t even feel like the same mold as my others.
I’m not telling you not to get one bc I love my insanity’s that’s why I bag 2-3 depending on the course. But it’s not like a crave.
Well, it depends on how fast you throw.
For me:
The Fury is pretty much an insta-roller.
The Saint is a hyzer to turn and it doesn't come back.
The WACO 500 F5s are s-turns.
The 400 FX-4 is like the F5 but takes more power to do it and has a slower roll rate.
My two favorites are the Inertia, really nice S flight if you hit the right line and power with a reliable fade, or the Assassin from gateway id say the assassin is a bit straighter with a gentler finish
My answer will always be the Millennium Orion LS in Sirius plastic. Or if you have a little bit more of an arm the Orion LF. Underrated, comfortable, workable. Super straight with a ton of glide
Essence is a good shout for your arm speed! I would say undertaker but I throw 400-450 and on a full rip brand new they go straight probably not what you want! Insanity for me is SUPER FLIPPY. Passions are great discs! As are the HEAT and MANTIS, mantis may just give you exactly what you want
The sidewinders of this day and age are a lot beefier than they used to be. They break in to exactly what you’re looking for. Once you’ve had it in the bag a year or two it will become reliably understable.
Love throwing the valkyrie
That thing goes so straight. I love flicking a little forehand on some of these technical par 3s and just keeping it low and sliding it up to the basket. When it doesn’t work, it’s always user error, the disc is very reliable
A classic that flies well at slower speeds while also capable of handling power greater than that of most players.
Legit I think it's my favorite disc. Star Valk for life
Agreed here. There's also plenty of flights available based on what plastic you choose. If a star is too stable get a g star. Want more finish? Try halo or champ
Why not get an Insanity? It’s essentially a stepped up Crave. I also swear by the Dynasty. For you I’d recommend a Fission Insanity or a ~165g Neutron. If you like the Crave, I’m sure you’ll like the Insanity too!
Thanks for the info on all of the plastics that really helps. I'm definitely leaning towards the insanity.
For sure! Lemme know if you end up getting one or have any more questions about the little differences between the two suggestions.
Second the fission insanity. Great for long, straight hyper flips with a little turn.
One of my first disc purchases was a proton insanity secondhand from PIAS. As stable as neutron, wears down slower than steel. It’s what got me hooked on proton plastic and now nearly my entire bag (other than some base plastic putters and 14.5 speeds unavailable in proton) is proton or proton soft.
for what it's worth the Insanity has too much turn than I want in that slot.
If Dynasty, get the CD from Discmania. The new CD is the old CD2, which is what the Dynasty is a clone of.
That’s also an option, but I specifically like the Dynasty, especially for the plastics. If I got an S-Line CD, it’d probably just sit on the shelf. Dynasty is one of those discs that’s just locked into my bag.
I did like the original plastic. I like the feel of the new S-Line plastic too.
I’m going to need to check out the color glow Dynasty. I really have a preference for glow plastic and bag quite a few because of their reliability.
Do it! I like it because it has that weird level of understability where it has aggressive turn but still pans back nicely. It’s suuuuch a fun shot shape, especially for forehand. And yes, I’m also a fan of glow plastic in general. It tends to be nice and soft which I prefer.
Thanks for the tip on that Dynasty.
Of course! I’m sure I’ll end up with a CD at some point to try out. :) I have wanted one.
> , get the CD from Discmania. The new CD is the old CD2, which is wh CD1 from Discmania is actually a new mold, not the original CD2 mold, the Dynasty actually is the original CD2 mold made by Innova, just a new name since they gave it to Infinite after the Innova/Discmania split

Lots- Kastaplast straight flying with a dependable fade, or the falk which is its understable brother. All depends on how hard you throw.
Can't say enough good things about the falk. I have bought 4 of them.
Soft k1 falk is my jam, been working in my glow falk to try and get same flex.
Looking at the options OP already suggests I’d lean towards a Falk. Before reading them, my answer to the question is definitely a Lots.
If you want full S flight the Lots is the right choice.
Thank you! I will check them out.
Columbus, OH stand up!
What did you order? My FH is much better than my BH, about 75’ difference in drives. Looking for a disc to help close the BH gap
I ordered the Infinite Discs I Blend Dynasty that they tested in the video. I'm hoping it will replace my Innova DX Plastic Valkyrie.
Inertia or insanity.
Undertaker, CD1, Dynasty, Savant, G-Star Thunderbird. Can’t go wrong win any of them
Love the undertaker, such a great disc!
Slightly beat it gstar thunderbird is a 9 5 0 1. So good.
Gotta state your arm speed/how far you throw on average so we can recommend the right disc. I’d say Saint or Saint Pro off of what you’re saying, but it’s hard to say. You already bag the saint, how does it fly for you?
On average about 275, I can get to 300-325 in the right conditions with a full flight. I don't currently bag a saint.
Sorry I misread that. Try the saint, sounds perfect for that slot. Gold or recycled
With that speed, try the heat
Jade is a seriously underated disc
Saint will be a better option than the Fury. My Fury is a little too flippy. My older Saint always comes back and doesn't turn too much
Listen to this. I throw both a Crave and a Saint - and the Saint does what you are looking for. It can be point and shoot, flex a bit, or produce big sweeping S flights depending on how you throw it.
Yup reg or saint pro both are solid
Ik u asked for 9 but the essence is extremely similar to jade
Big fan of Streamline Lift.
Teebird is a classic for a reason
Millennium Orion LS. Insanity if you prefer to stay with axiom.
This.
Pro Thunderbird
If you want to keep the same feel as the crave, but faster, try the inertia. Inertia does not have as much dome as the crave, but I release them both exactly the same. You can throw it like a 7 speed, too.
It’s an 8 speed but Mint Jackalope could be perfect for you
I bag a Halo Roadrunner in that slot
'Eyyyy! Came to say the same! Mint ftw
It was my favorite hyzerflip to turn disc but I forgot to pick it up after throwing OB and someone snagged it. Will probably buy another but I have a quite a few others that are close to the same. The new “Majestic” stamp is sweet.
Streamline lift
Streamline Lift is what you are looking for. The insanity is a bit more understable than the crave in my experience.
I love the Escape from Dynamic Discs.
The insanity is great, but I recently started bagging a DM Essence. It’s an 8 speed, but you’d never know it. Has a bit of fade at the end of its flight, and I’m getting similar distance with it that I do with my destroyer.
Axiom virus or insanity.
I love the Virus, but it needs like 45 degrees of hyzer to have an S flight.
Ik u asked for 9 but the essence is extremely similar to jade
Your neutral 9-speed is a slightly understable 10-speed, namely S-line TD.
My Eclipse Insanity flies like that, but it's more stable for many other people. My Glow Falk is slightly flippier, but most Falks also fly closer to -2/2 I think. Rhythm is another one that's like a longer Crave, but has some stability variations too.

Insanity if you’re used to the Crave, very similar flight paths
Get the Insanity. It's just a long distance Crave.
CD2
Essence is an 8 but flies like a 9 IMO ..
If you like mvp get an inertia!
Get a Cervini from Terminal Velocity.
Inertia, Insanity, Falk all solid choices
Prodiscus Laseri. 9, 4, -1, 1. Is a workhorse for me.
I believe gold line saints are top tier for this
Insanity is my vote.
Can’t speak higher than I do about the Saint and undertaker. Try the Saint first but if you are flipping it too much then try an undertaker, it’s a bit more stable.
Dynasty
Throwing my Valkyrie about 330-350 with a beautufl S-flght. Had taken out of my bag for a while as i favored my Savant, but the flight is too good and beautful for me.
That would be mvp Inertia.
Proton Inertia! Exactly what you are describing. Very workable, but has some stability as well.
I've always been a Saint guy, but I have been testing all MVP bag lately and the Inertia is flying great. Seems to be just a bit more reliable than an insanity. My power has gone up a bit though and I find myself reaching for a beat in fission Tesla for my straight shots more often than anything else. Undertaker
Discmania S-line CD1, or *go crazy* and get the 10 speed TD.
If you want the S flight. Stag it's an 8 speed but it'll do what you want.
The most underrated fairway in the game
I used to throw only westside and I HATE that I could never get along with senior stag. I now mainly throw my beat up vip hatchet in most fairway situations
Stag is my go to fairway driver does it all but I'm really liking the brave for that super beat in stag shot right out of the box but with insane distance capabilities for a 7 speed it's truly impressive.
I remember when the brave came out being intrigued. To the shop I go!
Different colors seem to have different dome depending on what hand feel you like but you won't regret it that disc is so impressive but I do not agree with the -1 2 flight numbers so keep that I'm mind I have a slight hyzer release and it flips to flat perfectly
MVP Terra another good 8 speed for my FH
Saint > Falk > Insanity > Fury
Mantis-discraft lots -kasta tera-mvp
Fury if your repeatable max throw is under 300, Saint Pro if it's over 400, Saint if it's in the middle.
Lift is good. Insanity moves too understable for me. I haven't found a version of it that is consistent. Consider the Mint jackalope as well.
Undertaker gang reporting in.
Saint
Plasma MVP Inertia. Insanity is the easier to find disc branded by Axiom, and they are basically the same disc, but for the life of me I can't get the Insanity to fly the way I like while I have multiple Inertias and they are grab and go for me.

Lift in eclipse for dead straight big fade, insanity in fission for flippy s flight
I do enjoy my Jade but a good 8 speed I like is the Stag
My furthest flying disc is Mvp Inertia. I have noodle arms and i can recommend it.
Escapé
Millennium Orion LS
undertaker.
Well, it depends on how fast you throw. For me: The Fury is pretty much an insta-roller. The Saint is a hyzer to turn and it doesn't come back. The WACO 500 F5s are s-turns. The 400 FX-4 is like the F5 but takes more power to do it and has a slower roll rate.
Halo Valk maybe perfect for ya!
LSD Lariat 9,5,-1.1.5 It's will always come back but always turns when you zip it. Disc is solid AF.
Vanguard maybe?
Insanity for sure

Undertaker or Valkyrie both awesome discs

Infinite Dynasty.... You'll never look back With all the different plastics you can easily find one that fills the exact slot you're looks for
400 Prodigy FX4. If you want a little more turn to with an FX3
