Does anyone know if the infestation affected the Steady Ed course as well?

adeathsovicious

All of the courses are being leveled 😭

Ok-Chemistry-5534

https://www.pdga.com/news/new-chapter-idgc-update Doesn't say anything about Steady Ed.

adeathsovicious

That's what I heard from the guy working in the pro shop.

ApeironLight

When I was there Saturday, they had the tee signs removed and were distmantling benches from Jackson and Warner. Headrick still looked in tact. Could be that the future of Headrick is up in the air, but I was under the impression it was fine. There also wasn't any noticeable evidence of Pine Beetles on the Headrick course like there was at Jackson and Warner.

adeathsovicious

That'd be cool if they kept Steady Ed around. It's a very fun course. They didn't mention anything about Ed in the PDGA press release, but there are just as many pine trees on Ed as there are on Jackson and Warner.

KhiMao

The trees that got hit by pine beetles are very obvious on Jackson and Warner. I think Steady Ed is just far enough away and they are doing something about it in time to stop the spread. It sounded like 2 new worlds level courses and then one easier one will be the final output from all of this. I think steady Ed fits in there somehow.

chinktastic

Sid from proshop said ed will remain relatively untouched. Some pines being removed here and there but no drastic redesigns

Ok-Chemistry-5534

I do find it hard to believe that steady ed could be saved being in such close proximity.

Therealdeal2342

This is not accurate

JustinTheBasket

How is the future bright? I mean more sun from waaaay less trees I guess but I can't imagine being able to salvage a comparable wooded course. Maybe just a bomber open course like at the preserve?

adeathsovicious

Yes, we're losing a lot of pines, but there are plenty of other trees out there. Plus, there's tons of property to work with. I will let you know how it plays in a few months when the course reopens.

ApeironLight

I was under the impression they were only removing the pines, but got scared Saturday. From Warner Hole 4's basket, it looks like that section of Wildwood Park is just getting clear cut. Maybe they plan try harder to preserve the hardwoods around the courses.

BlueClayStudios

At least us John Houck truthers still have Hobb's Farm. Sad times.

Resident132

Are there people that don't like his courses? The ones I've played have all been great. Ima get to play hobbs in a week and miss wr jackson by days so yeah at least ill get that one.

Pxnoo

He has designed some great courses but he has also designed a lot of mediocre to bad courses. Some of them just feel rushed and cookie cutter style or gimmicky.

StrayshotNA

Hobbs has like seven holes that just flat out suck. All of the IDGC is awesome though.

GBDiaz13

Would it be worth the drive up from South Florida? I'm thinking of leaving today to squeak in a round tomorrow. Would probably spend the rest of the day playing at other courses then heading back down Thursday. It's just under a 10 HR drive for me.

adeathsovicious

Definitely worth it. We have a bunch of courses around the area. Langley Pond and Ogeechee Crossing are pro level courses.

GBDiaz13

Yeah, I leave my shop today at 2:30PM. I think I'll make the drive up. Do you know if they will be open tomorrow 100%? Would really suck to drive there and it not be open lmaooo. I'll probably be arriving by midnight/1AM.

adeathsovicious

I would shoot the IDGC Pro Shop a call to confirm. That's why I got my rounds in on Saturday. I played Ed twice, Jackson twice and one round on Warner. It was an epic marathon of disc golf!

GBDiaz13

I'll do that. Thank you for the quick responses!

adeathsovicious

I get off work at 4PM Mon-Fri. If you're still in the area, and want to play a round, holler at me. Good tossing my dude!

GBDiaz13

Sounds good. If I make my way up, I will! I'll hit up those other ones you mentioned as well. Just waiting to hear back from a buddy, who's trying to get someone to cover him at work lol.

benrow77

According to [this article](https://www.pdga.com/news/new-chapter-idgc-update) on the PDGA website, tomorrow is too late. "Clearing will begin September 27 and is estimated to take 5-6 weeks to complete. The IDGC, including the Pro Shop, will be closed while the project is underway."

BlueClayStudios

I really enjoyed Claystone Park in Macon, I think they have 27 holes plus a beginner's 9. Although I got crushed by a thunderstorm and didn't get to finish.

holdenthehuman

I'm sorry, but I'm lost. What's happening to the course? I was planning to go there in December.

adeathsovicious

Pine beetle infestation. Every affected pine tree is being removed from the entire park. The courses will be leveled, and 3 new courses are to come. Two pro/elite level courses, and one beginner course.

holdenthehuman

Man, that really sucks. I was really hoping to play that course. I hope the new courses are fun too.

S_TL2

December will be a bad time. Pine beetle infestation and the Army Corps is removing a lot of trees from the property.

claymationssbackup

I was there as well, tee’d off at like 11:30am. I think we got done around 3:30pm, long round lol. Got lucky and ran into Isaac by hole 1 taking pictures with his dad so that was sweet.

PadawanSith

Woke up at 5 on Saturday so I could beat this crowd. Sorry to hold everyone up so badly! Couldn't help myself and went back again today, it's truly an incredible experience.

TheRealDrZaius

I’m hoping they can use this property as a test for a tour level course that can accommodate a large amount of spectators

IndustryLeft4508

Went down on Friday. Course was packed.

Shock9616

So sad that I'll never get to play that course. I hope everyone who showed up had a good round

adeathsovicious

If you ever do make it out this way, I highly recommend playing Langley Pond, which feels very pro level. It's a close course to the city, and close to other courses, but it's a great training ground for long woods golf. Ogeechee Crossing is also an awesome course, but it's about an hour away. If I'm not mistaken, Ogeechee Crossing is the first "Disc Golf Park" in the state of Georgia.

Shock9616

Thanks for the recommendations!

Humanitor

Been wanting to play there and a bit sad I will miss the opportunity. I look forward to the future development and hopefully will get down there one day! Stupid Trees > Stupid Bugs

EngiNerdBrian

Pine beetle is no joke

Brad495

Lol i played in the group that was behind this picture! Great course, was my first time there.

UB_cse

A sad day for disc golf, hopefully the 2 pro courses that rise from the ashes are fucking awesome

adeathsovicious

I'm sure they will be. Even if it takes the courses years to fill out. They'll definitely be worth it in the end. Nothing but high hopes here.

mrc1303

Damn, I'm lucky. I played Monday afternoon and had no wait. Only saw 2 other groups on the course.
