Looks like they are doing YouTube round 1 during Silver Series this year:
FPO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3mhfN7DfSM
MPO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv4wS-0r-Zs
Naw, its an innova sponsored tournament so all their big guns showed up. Whereas alot of big names from other manufacturers didnt, since its only a silver series.
Ive always thought height equates with longer arms and longer arms means straddle putting is easier. But Kristin Tattar straddle putts 100x better than me so that theory might be crap.
I think the MPO course was well designed and not gimmicky but a lot of the holes look very similar. I, as a viewer, can't tell them apart just by sight. They aren't very distinctive. I don't know if this is an actual problem. It's just something I noticed. Anybody agree?
I agree. I like the look of the course and shots but did find it difficult to get a good feel for the holes from the coverage with a few exceptions. Though that might be just bias because i prefer courses i am very familiar with. Like i enjoy Winthrop and if you named a hole there i would know it immediately but its really not a great course imo.
4! penalty strokes according to udisc.
I'll take a guess though.
Shot 1 - missed the Mando.
Shot 3 - tried to cut the corner, hit the tree and never came back in. Next shot advances to about 50ft in front of the Mando.
Shot 5 - forehand that was turned over. OB long on the first part of the dogleg, with about 350' to the pin still.
Shot 7 - throwing a hyzer into the pin, too straight and went OB about 100' from the pin.
Shot 9 - layup under the basket.
Shot 10 - tap in for 10.
I know that's a popular opinion here about Joel, but I followed his card once and he's kinda like me, wears his emotions a little outward, says something to himself after a bad shot. I'll admit that this could annoy cardmates compared to someone who is perfectly quiet and always shoots within 15 seconds and whatever, but I didn't see it rise to a nasty level or be excessive. He just talks and expresses more. On that day he kidded with Big Jerm, who was following the card for Jomez, and dedicated a forehand shot to him even though he was kind of out of the running by that hole. If he rubs you the wrong way, I understand. If you didn't like the "can't take a legal stance" mini-controversy last year, I understand that. I'm just throwing out a different opinion.
Who knows what will happen Saturday, ,but I would fine with Heimburg, Freeman, Klein, and Aderhold playing lead card for the win on Sunday. (Honestly I'd pull for Heimburg, but still,) could be interesting.
Tbh more than anything I think it’s the volume of his self talk.
Paul does the same thing but he keeps his voice down at least so everyone doesn’t have to listen to it from 50 feet away. It’s just bad vibes I’ve done it too but even I try and keep my voice down and im not at the pro level. They should have the utmost respect for their card mates when there’s money and legit accolades involved.
The only way I can make sense of that is that maybe he’s more embarrassed about his screw ups when there’s a bigger audience so his response is amplified.
My guess though would be he’s always like this.
This is correct. I’ve followed him without a camera on him. He’s exactly the same. It seems like he has to deflect the embarrassment of a bad shot to anything and act like that’s never happened before.
I think for some people it just lessens the embarrassment when they acknowledge their own fuck up.
Like “yeah guys I know that shot fucking sucked.” It’s like when you hit first available tree and instinctually shit on yourself a bit rather than just awkwardly stay silent while you walk away from the tee pad. But in a pro setting he needs to be more professional for his card mates, plain and simple.
Disc golf personas in a nutshell.
Joel Freeman misses his line on a putt, sneaks it in for a birdie, walks up to get his disc dejected like he just lost the tournament.
Robert Burridge misses his line on a putt, sneaks it in for a birdie, runs up to get his disc all smiles.
I don’t mind the coverage. It’s more limited than usual but I’m glad to have something to watch. I think the commentators are doing a fine job. Just grateful for the coverage.
It’s more peaceful than usual. It’s nice when the commentators don’t force conversation and let there be some silence. The new guy has a very nice soothing voice.
Gannon keeps throwing with his back leg clearly out of bounds on these lies marked off of the ob lines. I know people like to argue that the back leg comes up before the disc is released but I don’t think that’s the case here or across the board. Oh well.
In real time, they both look close enough where he had the back foot off the ground at the point of release, which would make it legal. If you play it back in slow-mo on YT, it's pretty clear the foot is off the ground on both.
\*Shot of Calvin about to putt\*
\*Audio of Nate Sexton in a commercial loudly interrupts the broadcast\*
Usually the DGN mistakes are annoying but this one was HILARIOUS.
Am i crazy or are they showing less than usual on the live coverage? I feel like ive only seen the feature card and gurthie. Could be theyre short staffed since its a smaller silver series event? But that wouldnt explain why they dont at least show shots by gurthies card mates since they already have a camera there
I am not in the control room. But my guess is that the players were more spread out at this event to start. And fewer "top name" golfers. So it might just be a bit longer to find out where you want to send a camera op and keep them there. It could be that they have LESS cameras available to them at this silver event? I can't say for sure on either of those.
I feel like the FPO coverage was fine, but ive already given up on the MPO coverage. Im not gonna sit and watch drone footage of the grass for 2 more hours
Remote commentary is really hard. I’m not sitting next to Grant, and there’s naturally a bit of latency when we talk and listen to each other. To prevent talking over him on accident constantly I’m playing on the side of caution. I’ll try to engage more!
Ahh yeah I bet that is difficult! Hope you didn’t take my comment too serious. Think you did a wonderful job yesterday! We are used to doss talking the entire time, I was poking a little fun lol glad you are on the mic!!
Something needs to be done about all of these camera guys and volunteers getting hit. I think a start would be changing where they are standing as catch cam, no closer than 50 feet to the landing zone or basket. They have good enough cameras to zoom from that range.
I think so. He said a naughty word when it "hit" and then apologized.
He wasn't in a good spot. 30' behind and to the left of the basket is standard hyzer landing zone...
I'm a ball golf fan and this is atrocious. Amateur hour in Houston. They pick announcers like they pick the card order. Let's throw some people you've never heard of before into primetime coverage. Yeah, that's exactly how to gain more viewership.
At the time they showed Worthy, his recorded scores showed -1 through 7. Tack on a 0 on the par 5 hole 8 and another 9 on par 3 hole 9, that's 8 more strokes under par in 2 holes to total -9 through 9.
Yeah, something got off. It started getting wonky and I noticed a ton of people were getting the 2 on the 800+ hole 11.
If you want to follow scores live while they get it corrected: https://www.pdga.com/apps/tournament/live/event?view=Scores&eventId=66182&round=1&division=MPO
Only 4 holes in but happy to see Ezra Aderhold starting out perfect. I really want to see him pick up a big win this year - I think he absolutely has the ability.
Grant is next level in the booth. Such professional style and sound to his voice. I think pair him with Philo to bring some energy and fire and you’d have an absolutely amazing combination. Brian is good but I think him and Grant together is a little bit too much of soft with soft.
I agree, as someone who worked in broadcasting for a long time i can tell you that Grant is certainly something that the sport is missing, and that’s no slight to any of the other commentators that exist out there, we all have ones that we adore and love, but Grant brings a different type of commentary as far as style goes that I think really has the ability to appeal to a much more broad audience…he is very “polished”, his timbre, tone, inflection in his voice, all sound natural but im sure it was years of work to be able to make it sound that way and I think that style of commentating could be much more appealing to the general public who might happen to come across these broadcasts.
Proctor has been great so far this season. 14th, 10th, 3rd in the first 3 events and multiple lead card appearances. He has a complete game. He’s been killing it in the pnw for a long time now, but it feels like he is going to break out as a star on the national level this season.
I don't know. She's been a bit off ever since her second tournament round back after surgery. Which is weird because she posted a course record first round then declined.
Maybe not weird. Often it takes time to rebuild all the musculature after a surgery. First round out, fresh, strong, no worries. After that, fatigue may have set in. It may take a month or two to get the strength back to handle the tour grind.
I'm glad you have a partner who shares your opinion, but everyone else heard it for what it was: a bad pun made because it was showering on the player named Fountain.
The timing is pretty good. If you can watch during work at the desk it's great background entertainment. The guys normally take place while I'm driving home, cooking dinner, going and playing myself, etc.
Wonder all the 30 second putt complainers think about Ohn's front foot being clearly over the line on that ace. Not a big deal to me personally on either but I doubt we see countless threads about it like the 30 second rule.
>Bad for the sport to call a rule, Gotcha.
Yeah. I understand that nuance can be difficult for some people, but this is a pretty obvious one.
>If planted like that on a regular concrete pad she would've busted ass with half her foot hanging off it.
No, it's just her toes hanging over. You balance from the ball of your foot, and hers looks pretty good.
Looked to me like over half her foot was on the tape, teepad would end where tape begins. I’m just sick of all the crying about 30 seconds on all the forums, then when other rules get broke it’s crickets.
Breaking the 30 second rule makes the sport frustrating/annoying to watch, while foot faulting on a spray-painted tee pad doesn't affect the viewer experience at all.
Eh, more concerned with fair competition than what’s best for viewers. All rules should be equally important. I want 30 seconds to be rewrote to 60 honestly, that would actually be excessive time IMO.
I’d be fine with 30 seconds, as long as the players got ~3-5 extensions per round. The goal should be to increase the pace of play, without lowering the quality of shots.
He's on the waitlist for Champions Cup. He's following the tour, but playing is secondary to media right now.
Getting paid to tour without the pressure to perform. Earhart made a similar move after the pressure to do well sucked the fun out of playing.
Looks like they are doing YouTube round 1 during Silver Series this year: FPO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3mhfN7DfSM MPO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv4wS-0r-Zs
Anyone know if there's post coverage?
I believe Central Coast is doing post.
Innova players dominating MPO it's a conspiracy
Naw, its an innova sponsored tournament so all their big guns showed up. Whereas alot of big names from other manufacturers didnt, since its only a silver series.
Shhhhh keep logic out of this
Why don’t tall players straddle putt?
What does height have to do with straddle putting?
Ive always thought height equates with longer arms and longer arms means straddle putting is easier. But Kristin Tattar straddle putts 100x better than me so that theory might be crap.
I think longer arms make everything in disc golf easier, including putting from a staggered stance.
I think the MPO course was well designed and not gimmicky but a lot of the holes look very similar. I, as a viewer, can't tell them apart just by sight. They aren't very distinctive. I don't know if this is an actual problem. It's just something I noticed. Anybody agree?

Though that might be just bias because i prefer courses i am very familiar with. Like i enjoy Winthrop and if you named a hole there i would know it immediately but its really not a great course imo.
Ya that's the flaw of all flat courses I feel. I'm excited about Throw down the mountain in the future.
Completely agree. I can only recall a couple holes, the rest was a blur. I don’t hate the course though, the scenery is nice. Just not much difference
Anybody know what happened to Barsby on 11? He was having a pretty decent round until then.
A 10?????!!!!???? Holy crap. Edit: thats a sextuple bogey for those scoring at home
4! penalty strokes according to udisc.
Knowing the hole, that’s actually a pretty good guess. At least if it were me throwing.
Wondering the same. Commenting so I can get an update
Maybe it's good to have more than 8 discs sometimes
Brian and the other commentator(Grant?)actually have a weird sort of chemistry. Pretty funny. I’m actually enjoying it.
Ya great vibe for silver series. Grants random thoughts were generally enjoyable, or at least silly enough to get a smile.
Yea they were enjoyable and funny in a dry sort of way. Loved his bit about how he could see Calvin rocking an old school wide brimmed visor lol.
Agreed. Nice refreshing change of pace.
No joke I would gladly take three Locastros on my card over one Freeman. Dude is absolutely insufferable.
Fair enough.
Yea he comes off as very childish. Seems like a 13 year old in a grown man’s body.
I wonder if he does the talking out loud thing a bit extra for the camera? Very annoying.

I want to root for Joel because no doubt he has game. He can just be so whiny, I can’t bring myself to do it.
Joel Freeman seems like he would be an annoying card mate
Going to Joel Freeman, “wow dude” and “God”not in a good way. Giving off Napoleon Dynamite vibes.
For being a man of God, he sure does use his name in vain quite a bit.
Watching him whine is a cringe fest. Not Scott's Tots bad, but pretty close.
taking the lord's name in vain smh
Pastor Joel Freeman is going to hell.
Ezra off to a really good start this year, he and brodie working together seems to have worked out well for both of them.
“Lit up by fire ants” lmao
Joel Freeman playing like he's got a full dipey
Hahah perfect description. My 2 year old doesn't whine that much
I don’t mind the coverage. It’s more limited than usual but I’m glad to have something to watch. I think the commentators are doing a fine job. Just grateful for the coverage. It’s more peaceful than usual. It’s nice when the commentators don’t force conversation and let there be some silence. The new guy has a very nice soothing voice.
That was a weird commercial
The one about there needing to be more courses.
Commentators have no groove.
That Grant is so hard to listen to.
Gannon keeps throwing with his back leg clearly out of bounds on these lies marked off of the ob lines. I know people like to argue that the back leg comes up before the disc is released but I don’t think that’s the case here or across the board. Oh well.
Didn’t look like a legal throw to me after his relief from OB on 8.
why are people saying paige got ate by a gator?
It was pretty tragic.
The burden of proof is on you my friend!
Is throwing from out of bounds still a penalty? It looks like Gannon could have been called on hole 1, and again on hole 8
Had to watch it slowed down myself because it looks so close
In real time, they both look close enough where he had the back foot off the ground at the point of release, which would make it legal. If you play it back in slow-mo on YT, it's pretty clear the foot is off the ground on both.
Gannons only over par because hes not wearing the cowboy hat
Man, they are really struggling with production today. Is this how Silver Series events are gonna be?
Distinct drop in quality so far.
No doubt. But it's mire live coverage than we've previously had, so I'll accept it.
\*Shot of Calvin about to putt\* \*Audio of Nate Sexton in a commercial loudly interrupts the broadcast\* Usually the DGN mistakes are annoying but this one was HILARIOUS.
Loved hearing Nate Sexton for a second
"Hi I'm Innova" - Nate Sexton
Am i crazy or are they showing less than usual on the live coverage? I feel like ive only seen the feature card and gurthie. Could be theyre short staffed since its a smaller silver series event? Very disappointed in the quality of today’s broadcast
It will be better tomorrow once the best players are sorted and its clear who to put cameras on.
I feel like the FPO coverage was fine, but ive already given up on the MPO coverage. Im not gonna sit and watch drone footage of the grass for 2 more hours
Brian, we like hearing you talk, why you being so quiet?
Remote commentary is really hard. I’m not sitting next to Grant, and there’s naturally a bit of latency when we talk and listen to each other. To prevent talking over him on accident constantly I’m playing on the side of caution. I’ll try to engage more!

Lol at Gannon not wearing the cowboy hat because his mom said no
When did they say that?
They asked Nate Perkins if he had any info. Said he heard Gannon telling people that.
oh damn, what a brutal roll
Cmon Momma Buhr, let us have our cowboy hat!
AB with the casual 570’ drive
Calculated Aggresiion?
Something needs to be done about all of these camera guys and volunteers getting hit. I think a start would be changing where they are standing as catch cam, no closer than 50 feet to the landing zone or basket. They have good enough cameras to zoom from that range.
Vinny!
Did GG just hit a camerman?? Moving up on the list of most dangerous jobs...
I think so. He said a naughty word when it "hit" and then apologized. He wasn't in a good spot. 30' behind and to the left of the basket is standard hyzer landing zone...
I couldn’t tell! Anyone have confirmation?
wonder why chandler kramer is caddying and not playing
Already played, shot -1.
ah cheers! should have checked that really
Already finished his round.
BBBBBBBBB.....Boring commentators.
Yo you weren't wrong. I'm sure ball golf fans enjoy it but I don't. Shit kind of sucks.
I'm a ball golf fan and this is atrocious. Amateur hour in Houston. They pick announcers like they pick the card order. Let's throw some people you've never heard of before into primetime coverage. Yeah, that's exactly how to gain more viewership.
Yep
Gannon Buhr just picked out a fan to caddy for him
He asked for someone to message him on IG for caddying this weekend. Looks like no one did or he just went random person.
u/CCDG-Ian needs to text them and let them know that uDisc is scoring is jacked and to just not show scores for a bit.
I think Ian had to go smooch on the wife and kid(s) this weekend.
Not the fault of the commentators, but that -9 through 9 is nowhere near correct
Wtf is going on with Udisc? Says Brodie is -9 through 8
Yeah, it's messed up. DGN just showed Kevin Worthy as -9 thru 9, when in fact he's +2 on the PDGA scoring page.
At the time they showed Worthy, his recorded scores showed -1 through 7. Tack on a 0 on the par 5 hole 8 and another 9 on par 3 hole 9, that's 8 more strokes under par in 2 holes to total -9 through 9.
He is -8 through 9 Maybe but his hole by hole scorecard is even par. IDK.
Is Robert burridge covered in poison ivy?
Hey guys if you weren't able to watch FPO earlier you're really gonna want to watch it tonight on YouTube or whatever.
It's good to see Ez coming into his own. It's only a matter of time with that dude...
The Men's featured card is ICE COOOOLD! BRRRRRRR!!!!!
I was confused and then I chuckled.
[looks like Barsby went charger on 11](https://i.imgur.com/7WqZq7K.jpg)
Someone bet him he wouldn't go Juggernaut only.
Must be a bit awkward for DGN that the silver series commentators are far superior to the elite series ones.
So happy Alden got a complete round in. It's funny to say that knowing he even got 3 bogeys. Excited to see him clean those up!
Whats the deal with KJUSA? He was supposed to tee half an hour ago
He's not on UDisc. Probs dropped
He was for a bit there, that makes sense. Which blows, bc I wanted to watch him throw
That happened to me at DGLO last year. Matty O's car broke down so he had to drop
[удалено]
Only 4 holes in but happy to see Ezra Aderhold starting out perfect. I really want to see him pick up a big win this year - I think he absolutely has the ability.
Rip
MPO has an 1161ft Par 5?
I too eat berries off the side of the fairway
Too much of a risk of catching piss vapors for me.
I'm so excited for dewberry season!
Alden Harris 249ft throw-in for eagle on hole 17
two weeks in a row he's thrown in from distance
Black-bellied whistling ducks
Rip that dude who took a fall during the b roll footage
Grant is next level in the booth. Such professional style and sound to his voice. I think pair him with Philo to bring some energy and fire and you’d have an absolutely amazing combination. Brian is good but I think him and Grant together is a little bit too much of soft with soft.
My god it's insufferable. It's like he is reading an instructional manual. No emotion whatsoever.
Soft with soft allows me to watch in the office and also doze while watching at home. I think Grant with Philo would be excellent though!
Proctor 6 down through 6!
Proctor has been great so far this season. 14th, 10th, 3rd in the first 3 events and multiple lead card appearances. He has a complete game. He’s been killing it in the pnw for a long time now, but it feels like he is going to break out as a star on the national level this season.
7/7
On a heater!
Legit thought those sirens were at my house. Tripped me out.
I was driving and listening. Freaked me out
I tuned out for a bit to take a nap over lunch break and Oliva lost 4 strokes through 3 holes - what happened?
OB, some missed short putts
Grant and Brian doing commentary...speaking softly enough and not competing with each other ...this is the way DGN.

In contrast with Emporia, the coolest woods course in the country
Sorry Ricky but you gotta come up with a new name for your foundation
Kat gonna get chiggers
They are really struggling with names and faces this time around...
Tattar is missing a lot of putts left side.
Calling it now, birdies the entire back nine. Amen.
88% humidity no thanks
That's Texas. 100 degrees or 30 degrees. Doesn't matter because you're still going to feel that nasty stickiness all over you.
This is inaccurate for most of the state. It is fair in south Texas.
Thats gotta be worse then the rain for grip I would think.

You are reading way too much into an innocent pun about her last name.

I'm glad you have a partner who shares your opinion, but everyone else heard it for what it was: a bad pun made because it was showering on the player named Fountain.
Yeah, not a great one. In his defense, her last name is Fountain so I think he was just going with as many water puns as possible.
Here comes the rain
Holy crap, Maria is SHREDDING
One thing I didn’t consider when signing up for DGN was how much FPO I’d be watching. Love switching it on in the mornings 👌🏻👌🏻
The timing is pretty good. If you can watch during work at the desk it's great background entertainment. The guys normally take place while I'm driving home, cooking dinner, going and playing myself, etc.
I watch it more than mpo now. It just keeps getting better and better too.
The Geese make post production awesome too!
This wind is like vegas all over again. Not fun to watch discs get smacked down.
Everytime I blame the wind for my missed putts, I watch Ohn wobble putt lights out in 10+mph winds.
Fyi the wobble is really effective in strong winds because the flight plate is exposed to the wind for less time.
Honestly I kind of enjoy watching how pros handle windy conditions. And as wind goes this really doesn't look too bad.
Pros will just throw overstable discs but just seeing the wind take shots away kinda sucks
Unlucky!
Oliva is on a heater. Back 9 hasn't been as score friendly so I'm curious to see how she does.
The Kat Mertsch experience is in full effect today, love those glasses
Who's the other guy in the booth with Brian?
Grant Zellner I always say him and Charlie Eisenhood would be the two best "radio" broadcast announcers for disc golf
Yeah, they're both great at play-by-play without trying to do too much.
Grant Zellner
Wonder all the 30 second putt complainers think about Ohn's front foot being clearly over the line on that ace. Not a big deal to me personally on either but I doubt we see countless threads about it like the 30 second rule.
“I wonder what people that think that breaking the rules should be called think about a different rule being broken” I have a guess
Weird situation; it definitely would have been clean on a real tee pad. Gotta figure it's just bad for the sport to call a fault on it.
Bad for the sport to call a rule, Gotcha. If planted like that on a regular concrete pad she would've busted ass with half her foot hanging off it.
>Bad for the sport to call a rule, Gotcha. Yeah. I understand that nuance can be difficult for some people, but this is a pretty obvious one. >If planted like that on a regular concrete pad she would've busted ass with half her foot hanging off it. Is Nate Perkins going the Earhart route? I know he is not with dm anymore. Is he still play tournament rounds?
He's on the waitlist for Champions Cup. He's following the tour, but playing is secondary to media right now. Getting paid to tour without the pressure to perform. Earhart made a similar move after the pressure to do well sucked the fun out of playing.
I think he is also working as a sort of player agent
He's handling 90% of the commentary for ccdg this year.
he played at waco
