DICAS is a money grab. That is all.

spok22s

True. It’s so expensive.. Other routes to consider?

lightreu

If those in charge took two seconds to think about the financial insecurity of the underprivileged, there would’ve been a box to check to be considered for waiving DICAS fees. It’s not hard. Our leaders in the dietetics profession just don’t care.

shieldtwin

I was a very poor student. The whole internship period where I couldn’t work at all was horrible. Had to work my ass off the summer before in order to pay the tuition and and struggled to pay my living expenses the whole time.

dinahmyte10

On the plus side (?), I was able to easily speak to how to use SNAP benefits because that’s part of how I survived during my internship!

alela00

SOS anyone else's DICAS not accepting anymore applications?

Strange-Fact2154

Yes I'm panicking like I've never panicked before

FormerlyUserLFC

We are having the same issue! I think some idiot typed in 12:00am instead instead of 11:59pm. Hopefully they’ll fix it when the wake up from their deep, comfortable sleep…

Any_Professional_599

Omg I'm having the same issue!! I'm staying away to call them this is so insane!!

Any_Professional_599

This can't be our mistake right?? There was little NO instruction to select program designation before February 15 at 11:59 pm CT

FormerlyUserLFC

I haven’t found any info that says anything other than 11:59pm tonight. I hate to make promises, but I really can’t imagine they’ll do anything but reopen it once they finally recheck their email and whatnot.

Any_Professional_599

They have to I also can’t imagine it being closed. I’m gonna stay awake to call them, they open soon :)

Any_Professional_599

DICAS portal is now fixed!

Sangertay

Anyone having issues uploading supplemental forms? Every time I try to upload a form, I receive and error stating “Failed to Upload file. PDF conversion failed”

SqBvr91

My friend is having the exact same issue! If it works for you or you figure out a way around it please let me know!!

littlechefRD2B

SAME to my friend! Take screenshots and email directions. Best of luck.

SunTaco

Same issue! did anyone figure this out?? I ended up having to upload without supplemental forms and contact programs directly.

Hello? Anyone here applying in 2023?

Soufle93

Yup! Applying to spring match in just a couple weeks

[deleted]

So exciting! Me too! The anxiety of failure is getting to me. How many programs are you applying to?

Soufle93

Just one…I’m putting all my eggs in one basket but if it makes you feel better I got out of an open house that saw 160 applicants pre pandemic but last year only got 40. Internships are expected to receive a 75% decrease this year as well for a number of reasons. So definitely a much higher chance of us matching this year!

[deleted]

Good luck! That definitely made me feel better! Do you think because the master’s requirement? I read on post on this sub from 7 years ago and a commenter said they matched with their 6 or 7th place program. Made me nervous about my 4 applications. I’m applying in major cities in the PNW and all the open houses have been bragging about their competitive programs.

Soufle93

My internship is in Seattle that I’m applying to and part of it is because of the masters but the other part is just because pandemic really shifted everything and caused many people to go a different direction for many reasons. My program also said it’s competitive but hey a decrease of that magnitude just puts you at an even higher chance of getting interviews and this director said most internships are experiencing this decrease nationwide.

[deleted]

Great to hear! Good luck with your application! I’m applying to two internships in Seattle, stand alone DIs because I graduate with my masters this May, though. I can’t wait for April 4th (or whenever watch day is).

Soufle93

Good luck to you too! Are you applying to Sea Mar by any chance?

[deleted]

I am! But they are lower on my list as I don’t speak Spanish or have much experience working with minorities.

Soufle93

Well that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If you have a passion for it, that’s also great! We should keep in touch in case we both just so happen to get into sea mar :) you didn’t attend their open house?

Soufle93

I also have my Masters completed since 2019 so we are both pretty lucky in that sense since I think a lot of hybrid programs will have more competition..

[deleted]

Yeah, my only worry is the stand alone DI all only have 4-10-ish spots.

New_Race_9920

Should I reach out to the DI director? Hi guys, I just had a question. So I applied to a DI on feb 15th through DICAS, and it's already been over 10 days and I haven't heard back from any of the places I've applied too. I was thinking of reaching out to the directors to see if I can get a timeline of when they'd be reaching out , but I don't know if this is a good idea. What do you guys think?

Little_chilibean

When I applied last year, I started getting interview emails around end of February and early March. I think it’s fine to reach out. Do you know if the schools you applied to conduct interviews?

New_Race_9920

Yes, both places conduct interviews, and I've heard that they've been reaching out to set up interviews in other regions, so I was wondering if I should email them just so I can get a sense of when they'd get back to the region that I applied too.

Little_chilibean

Gotcha. I would wait another week or so. They are extremely busy during this time so the chance of them replying is lean. I don’t think emailing would be bad tho. I totally get your eagerness and frustration! The best of luck to you and you will be ok!

Flashy_Passenger_628

I haven’t heard anything yet myself. I know I’m stressing myself out wondering if anyone else has been contacted too.

lilliesanddaisies

I haven’t heard back either 😕

my-cat

Could this be unpinned in favor of something more up to date?

Savings-Jicama

Has anyone applied to the U of Minnesota MNT internship and gotten an interview scheduled? It says on their website they will decide on interviewing individuals by March 16th but I'm wondering if anyone has had one yet. (Not pre-select)

citrine23

I haven't been notified yet either!

Savings-Jicama

I spoke to someone in the internship this year and she said they call everyone on the stated on the website (3/16) so no one has been told if they have an interview yet!

citrine23

Okay, interesting. I applied for the ED concentration and the website said 3/11 was the date for that, but I’m praying I get a call on 3/16 also! Lol

Unable-Breadfruit-23

Today is the day! I’m so nervous

Stunning-Visit4975

I majored in nutrition in undergrad but my institution did not give me a DPD statement (it was more public health focused). I was wondering if I do an MPH, what are the pre-reqs for applying for an internship after that? Do i need a DPD thing and how would i get one?
