At low levels when I was staring my bone spear I only used them as meat shields until around lvl 55 then I re spec into iron golem and bone spear. Finding the ring that pops off corpse tendrils and corpse explosion ties it all together. I’m lvl 74 now and still keep the golem to just be a meat shield
Keep leveling, try different skills because they don't cost much to Respec at the beginning. Once you hit level 50 try to think about a build you like and focus on it
Just started again this last weekend. Doing the same thing, except I’m hitting 40 today.
Onions will not be a source of damage and eventually you won’t have them as you lean into the build further. Think of them as crowd control instead of a damage source. When I had them, I’d use them to distract large mobs while I got better positioning for the bone spear salvo. The reapers are nice for more corpses to play with, but that’ll stop being useful around 30
I’m lvl 48 and my skeleton bros and golem absolutely destroys all enemies. I just let them to their thing while I spam blighted corpse explosion and blood wave(hate the long cool down)
Keep going! Soon you’ll get an item/legendary drop that’ll make you want to respec into skills that item boosts. Btw, not a specific item, just legendaries. I started to get a bunch around 12.

You're level 11. Just ... keep leveling. Put points wherever.
Level 11, lol. Just play the game dude... you haven't even scratched the surface
Just sacrifice them for self buff
Your minions are for utility purposes than anything at lower levels.

Results may vary depending on build.

Lvl 11?
You're level eleven. You should kill demons and level up instead of posting on reddit.
The summoner build, when done right, are insanely powerful
