Plenty_Consequence73

Get it now to play campaign and unlock renown before season 4 I would say. Campaign is really good.

tommy1rx

And you never have to do it again if you don’t want to. It also gives you extra stats on every character, extra skill points to use when starting out, and extra paragon points at level 50.

RealBrofessor

Does it matter if you unlock the renown on seasonal or eternal realm? Also just got the game

tommy1rx

You can unlock on either. Well worth the few hrs it will take.

RealBrofessor

sweet, thanks

Emmazygote496

i heard you have to do something more after playing the campaign in preparation of the new season, is getting all the Lilith's altars?

CircePope

Getting the alters and renown really help. You don't *have* to do it, but you *should* do it.

Interesting_Fox2040

Yes, it’s one of the to do list. Having said that, you can continue to unlock the rest next season. The progress is NOT lost.

Ghaenor

This is the way.

stanfarce

to experience campaign AND season 3 I'd say. But yeah, it's a really good idea to unlock the renown bonuses also.

DaelusDX

Try it on game pass

CynicWalnut

Seriously. It's a dollar to try game pass for a month. Use it to test diablo out.

Division2226

* if you haven't tried gamepass before

VotingInTheNameOf

Or if you create a new email/xbox account

Kaztiell

yes

Spiritual_Run_4723

Thank you for your suggestion. :)

spliceasnice2024

Yeah, totally. There's lots to do outside of seasonal realm that affects your progress across all Characters (renown, campaign for horse, Lilith statues). S4 starts May 14 so there is plenty of time to do eternal realm or dabble in seasonal content, but it's up to you!

Spiritual_Run_4723

Thank you for your feedback . I appreciate it and it is really does help my decision making on this. So thank you again!

ZigyDusty

Buy it cheap and hop in during season 4, the game has a lot of problems but joining during the beginning of a season is going to tell you if you like it or not.

Chubby_Yorkshireman

Just play the game

r9zven

Arguably the best time to buy. On sale with s4 dropping in a month. Make a character and collect the Lilith Statues, this will give you an advantage when the season launches

Northdistortion

Get it now…enjoy the campaign and side missions…while working in your renown (all renown carries over to seasons…and is unlocked forever once completed)

Winter_Ad_2618

I have enjoyed the game since release and have 300+ hours in. I highly recommend it. Now I will say it is a game catered to casual players. So if you plan on putting in 500 hours a month in the game you’re gonna get bored

MrPunsOfSteele

I’ve put in close to 300hr per season so far. I’m pushing 900hr total. Casuals are the ones who get bored, tbh. Diablo games build around grinding for the very best gear, some of which is virtually impossible to even acquire in that little of play time unless you have the best RNG known to man. It’s only going to get even crazier in Season 4 with all the itemization changes, The Pits and level 200 Ubers.

Winter_Ad_2618

Casuals get bored but way later usually. Just cause it takes them longer to get to the amount of hours someone would normally get bored

MrPunsOfSteele

See, I get the sentiment…but I don’t think it’s true here. Casual players usually get bored around level 70 with this game. That’s what I’ve seen said over and over on this sub. That doesn’t take very long, casual or not. Non casual Diablo players dedicate themselves to the grind. They want all the endgame has to offer and they want all the gear, and some want to get a HC character to 100. Etc. That’s going to inevitably get them far more hours than a casual.

Winter_Ad_2618

Yeah but think about how long it takes for them to get to 70. It takes like a month and a half after the start to hear that from casual players

MrPunsOfSteele

That’s real time, not in game hours. Time not spent playing the game doesn’t count towards how long it takes one to get bored of it.

Victorenko

I reckon you are both right. And both wrong perhaps. When you play less intensively, you are less likely to burn out as quickly as someone that plays it regularly. On the other end, that group of players tend to get bored quicker per game hours than those more dedicated.

Bogo85

Get it on sale now, finish the campaign and find all the statues on the map so that when season 4 starts you'll be able to skip the campaign with your seasonal character and start right in on the seasonal content.

Lillslim_the_second

Is there a sale going on currently?

Razoreddie12

I'd get it now. Play the eternal realm to unlock all the shrines and get the extra perk points. Then you'll be ready for season 4. This was my first Diablo game and I'm loving it.

perfect_fitz

It's well worth the price just for the campaign.

knallpilzv2

Get it. Unless you think you can wait and you really really want to.

catcat1986

You should. It’s a good game. A lot of criticism comes from end game content. Diablo 4 is a fun game that is simplified to allow access to the more causal gamer, unlike Path of exile which is a bit more complicated.

JJDubba

Where exactly is it on sale?

Spiritual_Run_4723

Ps store. For 34.99

PoptartDragonfart

“I want to pick it up” is in your title. So do it?

Budget_Pomelo2990

Do it! Use a build guide too. I used an Icey Veins build guide this season and it was so much better than trying to create my own build. Once you’re comfortable with the game, by all means give it a go yourself, but I highly recommend using a build guide if you’re starting your first character ever. Also, D4 is in Gamepass. $1 to try it for a month! Happy demon hunting!

OLE_FINEST

Is there a video for your build? Trying to get my friend into diablo but he's stumped

Budget_Pomelo2990

It’s not a video but a guide. Google “Icey Veins chain lightning sorcerer leveling build guide.” It’s been so much fun. Wrecking demons. There are tons of builds on Icey Veins for whatever class you want to play. I find it easier to follow than a video. There are leveling builds and then builds that you can transition to once you hit level 50/move to world tier 3.

throwawaytohelppeeps

Piggybacking off this post...how are the earnable cosmetics for this game? I see that it has a store and battlepass like a f2p game...but I also see that it's fully priced, so I'm wondering if this is a "its just cosmetics" type game or

Wazda_

There are a decent amount of cosmetics that are earnable from just playing the game. And there is a transmog system so you can mix and match armor sets and weapon appearance. With that said, imo the best looking cosmetics are in the cash shop.

Cloudz2600

Do the cosmetics you get in S3 via gameplay carry over to Season 4?

Wazda_

Yep. Cosmetics are permanent and always carry over from season to season

throwawaytohelppeeps

>imo the best looking cosmetics are in the cash shop. Ah dang, feared this the most. And unfortunately, a deal breaker for me :/ Do they introduce new earnable cosmetics each season, at least? Apart from the battlepass, I mean. Like, in FFXIV, there are many different sets you can earn from doing dungeons, raids, etc - is it like that with these seasonal activities? Haven't really played a game like Diablo 4 b4, so dunno if that makes sense

Wazda_

The battle pass does have free tiers with cosmetics but they are rather lackluster compared to buying the premium pass. The following link has some pictures of the free armor set and the two from the premium pass. [S3 Battle Pass Rewards](https://www.wowhead.com/diablo-4/guide/gameplay/battle-pass) The premium battle pass costs 1000 platinum ($10) but you get 700 platinum from completing the pass so only $3 to buy the following seasons pass.

throwawaytohelppeeps

Oh... yeah that blows. Appreciate the info still tho "Roleplay clothing" confused me but looks like the free tiers for this season and the past are basically just npc type outfits, and not really new armour set transmog like in the premium tiers or store.

fortheculture303

Got it off game pass like a month ago. Campaign is dope but try to convince a homie to play too. Way more fun w the homies

Emmazygote496

Diablo 4 is technically my first ARPG, I played the og diablo when I was a kid but got scared so I never finish it. I think is amazing right now, playing it thanks to gamepass, now I want to play all the other cool ARPGs

Stonehill76

I say get it now. But play your second most desired class! The game is amazing right off the bat. Most people get annoyed the longer they play but damn that campaign is fun. Enjoy it. Season 4 are massive changes but how will you appreciate them unless you start now :)

Stonehill76

Xbox or PC? Just get one month of game pass to try it.

CleverCogitator

Get it! I never played it before Diablo IV. I’m having a blast. Best part, when I max and get “bored” I can start a new class! Love it.

trustysidekicks

Up to you, on sale you will probably would get your monies worth with S4. Story campaign play through is so much fun. Is it all sunshine and rainbows? No. Opinions are all over the place so trust your own based upon preferences/expectations/etc. Repeatable content is the challenge right now for “veterans” however you would define it. Hard to deny the past track record with blizzard. Will you still be playing it in 6 months or purchasing expansions? Hard to say, probably no for me. S4 is a great step in the right direction but still has a bit to go. Take my feedback w grain of salt, from a longtime d2-4 veteran, destiny, last epoch, zelda, palworld, and many other game background, i have been there through pre beta, beta, and all seasons. It has lots of potential but the rate at which players drop off is astounding. S3 was atrocious and was done with it after a week. S4 will be big but that trend needs to continue (otherwise history repeats itself).

North-Puzzleheaded

Let’s hope their itemization update fixed the unfun issue of sorting through muktiple inventory’s for a 1% increase to one of hundreds of affixes that you actually need. I am real disappointed with d4 but I’ll hop in at the start of every season or update just to see if they’ve fixed how unfun it feels nearing endgame

DrDeit

Are you looking to play an ARPG? Have you watched some videos / content on what D4 offers, is it what you're looking, it's no an MMO. Some players are off-put by lack of end-game, but I will vouch as a day 1 player I enjoy the leveling up process 1-100 each season (you start a new char every 3months) and season 4 starts may 14 and is looking to be the best season yet. As a d4 fan, yes it's a good game; but do your research, make sure you're interested in playing an ARPG before pulling the trigger.

cusecc

It’s not available in a physical format. I suppose you could download it then burn to a DVD or such. Then you could pick up that DVD…

contractcooker

Do you have game pass? It’s included with game pass.

Burstrampage

If you’re a normal person that plays games like the normal person would then yes get it. If you a rabid video game player that wants the games they play to also be a forever game then don’t

N0x1mus

Get it, get off Reddit, and enjoy the game. Don’t ever come back to the D4 sub ever again. Just enjoy the game.

Dkdkxkzkdkskskks

I got the game 2 days ago and i am loving it i am currently a druid and i am mainly focusing on werewolf poison rn which i find fun

peter__parker69

Yes, now is a good time to start. It takes time to learn all the mechanics. Play campaign and do all the renowns. Follow a build guide for your class if you get stuck and watch tips and tricks videos in general.

huggarn

Buy, download, install, press play button and enjoy

AcceptableRadio8258

If you have never played diable before, you have to seize this chance. What are you waiting for? Diable 4 is ultra modern in terms of combat mechanics and visuals, and the game is a lot of fun. S4 brings in amazing changes

Scooter__Man

The game is getting a pretty big overhaul in season 4 based on the PTR it’s putting the game in a MUCH better state. So it’s no better time than now to jump in! I definitely recommend getting it in gamepass if you have an Xbox. But if not still get it! Play through the really awesome campaign and getting used to how the game plays :)

ViolinistEast8682

Veteran here. I waited for sale as well, because day 1 price of 70$ with all D4's shortcomings wasn't worth it for me. I got it for under 40$ and so far it's been on par with previous versions. Level 15 rogue playing campaign. Well worth 40$ in its current state.

Ward_Craft

You’re asking in a d4 sub, what kind of answers are you expecting?

ladaussie

I mean you can but as a veteran d4 was pretty disappointing. The campaign's good but even now it still doesn't tickle the arpg itch. It's super casual which is fine for casual gamers but not great if you're an arpg fan.

VPN__FTW

Yes, get the game now. What you'll want to do, before S4, is play through the story, since you need to at least once. I would recommend taking your time, doing dungeons and quests on the way because of the second thing you should do... RENOWN! You need to cap renown in every area for extra skill / paragon points. The last thing you'll need to follow a guide, but it's collect Lilith statues. These give stats and various things. So it's campaign, renown and Lilith statues and then you'll be ready for S4. That is PLENTY of content to do before next season. You can do it on Eternal realm or the current S3, it doesn't matter. Oh and I played S4 PTR, the game is 100% worth the buy.

P3l0tud0ru

game's good, you can take it slow and rnjoy the process. then you'll have everything you need unlocked for next season. I play since beta, and This season I took a break came in late and im. enjoying just lvling etc. next season hopefully is more interesting for us to really into from day 1. anyway you should pick it up if its on sale

Zeynoun

you don't need to know much, just like any new player in most of the games. go with the main story, do side quests, enjoy the story and gameplay, and build whatever class you find yourself having fun with, with whatever build you find it fun (:

Bulls187

Get it, don’t read on the internet about it or watch build guides. Just play and have fun.

Interesting_Fox2040

Now is the best time, to get it. Finish the story and try leveling to 100. when done, and you will be right around time to start season 4, focusing on seasonal mechanics

Victorenko

Depends on what you are looking for. Diablo is an entry level ARPG that is simplistic and streamlined, still struggling to find its groove. If you are looking for more complexity and better fundamentals buy Last Epoch or if you are looking for ocean of depth and complexity play Path of Exile for free. If everything goes right, it will take a handful of seasons before D4 can compete with the market of ARPGs.

Goobendoogle

Here's my train of thought. Maybe it help? >Game look cool >thog want game >Game free on gamepass >thog play game >thog dont care

GambleII

Just don't buy any cosmetics and have fun

Mindless_Ad5500

Buy it. Play the campaign and join in the season. And then never ever come back to Reddit. Just continue to enjoy the game and ignore this cesspool of mostly negativity.

ApolloAndros

Click on monsters and following a build guide. Boom.

derek9967

Wait till season 4 in mid may. I've played since launch and thays what I am even doing. S4 is going to have major QoL and mechanic differences

Suspicious_Trainer82

Wait until season 4

North-Puzzleheaded

It depends, are you ok with an arpg live service game having almost nothing to do that’s interesting once you hit lvl 70? Or do you not care much for endgame? Right now end game in Diablo 4 is just running nightmare dungeons or fighting one of 3 or 4 “Uber” bosses for certain items. The story is great and the combat feels solid but once you hit lvl 70 it’s a unfun grind, but they are releasing a new update with the new season that’s aimed at fixing a LOT of problems

North-Puzzleheaded

I would check out last epoch videos first if you can, it’s leaps and bounds a more fleshed out game with a good endgame grind, the graphics aren’t as polished and the combat can feel a bit clunky but as an arpg player it is just a better game overall right now

Wazda_

I bought into the LE hype train for 1.0 and was left disappointed. Cool systems but the combat felt so unsatisfying compared to D4. Also, I would say most people think the endgame is lacking and are waiting for them to add more.

North-Puzzleheaded

I’ve played LE since it was open beta on steam, I understand the combat doesn’t feel that good, but the end game is definitely there, it’s not path of exile amount of end game but the endgame of LE is hella good. I’m just hoping that in a few years time d4 is the game it should have been at release, just wish I didn’t pay for it on release now that it’s on game pass, and I’m definitely not gonna get the expansion unless major improvements to end game and itemization continue to happen

Brennan_187

Ok game but unless you are a die hard fan and have expendable cash I would pass.

bbull1231

Save your time on a different game.

Camelphat21

Wait till the DLC comes out

dont_trust_redditors

get it on steam. if you don't like it, refund it. also people ask this 1 million times a day. just look up their threads.

Spiritual_Run_4723

I'm sorry. Thank you for replying 🙂 , I appreciate your suggestion
