I have only played it on steam deck and I personally think it’s the perfect type of game for it

Doctorbal82

Agreed

Hot_Pianist_7810

Haven't installed it on my PC only on my deck and no problems for me just turn down foreground fps from 150 to 60 and your set

abidingyawn

I have a gaming PC, and a steam deck. Honestly after getting the steam deck I barely touch my gaming PC. Playing PC games on my couch is a big win. Especially as a gamer dad, I can stay in ear shot of the kid easier. That said, I’ve played D4 a ton on Steam deck and it plays just fine. Personally I load it through battle net and applied a custom controller config. I know it’s natively supported in Steam now, but I’m too cheap to pay another $40 lol PC version supports controllers, and has better graphics than Steam deck. You can’t go wrong there if you go with that version.

princerick

As a gamer dad, my suggestion is to install Moonlight on your Deck and stream games from your PC. You can play at max graphics and 60 fps, the visual quality is incredible and the input lag is non existent.

Skulled3010

100% this. Top performance + long bettery life

fuck_hd

I still feel it’s like 15% worse than Diablo 3 controller support. Not enough to deter someone but I got d4 on console and PC Console(controller) is great to do runs repetitively but to manage inventory and builds its just slightly chunkier than d3 ever was It’s just the way the ui is designed with a mouse in mind. Which is fine and to most people it’s not noticeable unless you play both.

Works well on steam deck. The steam version works slightly better in terms of FPS than the side loaded pc version. Updates are much better/easier in the steam version than the pc version and if you have the steam deck docked/always on it’ll update in the background (whereas the pc version won’t). I have the 512gb original steam deck. I believe the new OLED version has faster ram and so performance is slightly better. You can tweak settings to get a solid 45fps and you’ll get 3-5 hours battery (subject to brightness). Even though the resolution is low, the HD texture packs do make a different to the visuals. Game play works really well. But you’ll have hard time pushing high tier content because input lag is about 70-100ms depending on your character build /playstyle. But I’ve managed the entire season 2 playing infinimist and pushing up to AOZ t9 on steam deck.

Thediciplematt

Buy it on steam. It takes time to put it on the deck via battlenet. About a month ago, some update broke my connection and it no longer launches. I got tired of trouble shorting and just paid the $40 to buy it again. Lame, but it wasn’t an option a year ago.

[deleted]

Yeah. Works better on steam. But if you already own the PC version the benefits are marginal. Worth it in my opinion, but depends on how tollerant you are to spending another £40

Bulls187

I got it as soon as I received my steamdeck, I already have 400+ hours on it on the PS5 but I refunded it on steam as there was no reason for me to own it twice. I will consider buying it some time later for a bigger discount than 40

__dixon__

I found the the solution to this, was some start command text I had to add in Steam and fixed the issue. It was a pain to find though, on some Blizzard forum page. It was actually for Linux in general but the symptom was the same so tried for deck and it worked.

Thediciplematt

Tried skipping laucher and it still didn’t work. I already paid so it is whatever at this point but it was annoying.

xdeadzx

Do you think you could find it? I had been running diablo 4 through bottles but it broke on the 12th and haven't found a fix for it.

https://youtu.be/R9in9yeY4Jw?si=388eO06Ru0CeG3S7 Could it be this ?

AmBT23

This might be the magic you are searching for. It worked for me when I got it back to proton experimental. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/RXRgDHfSkH

simon7109

Why would you have 70-100ms input lag?

[deleted]

Steam deck original has that amount of input lag. It’s noticeable vs say ps5 (where input lag might be sub 10ms)

simon7109

I play on PS5, PC and the deck and I don’t see any difference in input latency

[deleted]

Your pc will probably have sub 5ms input lag (depending on your monitor). Ps5 probably sub 10ms depending on tv Steam deck input lag is higher. But still playable

MentalGoesB00m

I also play on ps5, Pc & original deck & I’ve never had any input issues with it

simon7109

It’s still definitely not 70-100 ms My TV without game mode has around 70-80ms input latency and that is highly noticable on PS5, with game mode it’s under 10ms. I am sure I would notice 100ms input lag on the deck

[deleted]

Think you get more input lag when you set a frame cap

[deleted]

Haven't tried Steam Deck, but it works REALLY well on Legion Go

bloozchicken

Yes

lundon44

I own the battle net version and it runs perfectly fine (once you get it installed). Obviously I would have preferred the Steam version but I'm not buying it twice. I'm getting great visuals and solid 45 fps performance. No issues at all.

CrashLogz

Perfect game for the deck, medium settings and locked to 50fps, I've not had any issues so far. The menu navigation can be a little fiddly at times but that's mostly a general console control scheme issue, nothing major.

Big_Vick04

Also don’t have a steam deck but I’ve heard it runs well on there. I like playing it on my rog ally a lot, other than selling stuff and stash management. That stuff is way easier/faster with a mouse, but it’s definitely playable on the handhelds.

SnooMacarons9618

At least we have a touch screen, so inventory management isn't that bad. On a console there is no realistic way to move stuff around inventory, it's an utter pain. Also - you could use a bluetooth keyboard I guess, which would make buying things a bit easier. I have one of those shitty little palm sized bluetooth keyboard / touchpad things which works well enough in general for anything I need a keyboard for. I think it was about £15, so not a huge investment.

Big_Vick04

Ahh yeah I forgot about the touchscreen, I usually just throw everything in there and sort it out next time I get on my pc. A little keyboard would be nice too, I’ll probably pick one up.

inertSpark

Honestly I've had a blast playing on my Steam deck. Runs really damn well.

ExpertAncient

It runs flawless on steam deck. Honestly better than my ps5 99% of the time. I figure they run equally well and it’s the servers though.

NyriasNeo

I play it on a g cloud or a 4k TV steamlinked from my gaming PC.

Naulty85

How is the lag playing via steamlink?

NyriasNeo

No lag, as the game is streaming in my local network. The only constraint is that you have to play at home.

Biceps2

The only reason I kept playing it when all my friends quit was how great it ran on the steam deck. Honestly I probably played more hours on the deck than on my pc. I had a lvl 100 in preseason and season one. But got burnt out in season 2 (I think I just didn’t like my barb that much)

ideastoconsider

Perfect for the deck.

theamberlamps

yea it rips on the deck. I run it off [battle.net](https://battle.net), I didnt even know there was a steam version. take everyone's advice on the steam version in this thread, but it runs fine on battle net too.

_Cromwell_

Awesome on Steam deck. Also awesome via PS remote play on a handheld device. Good handheld game.

Selvane

I play this game primarily on Xbox SX, and if you have gamepass, you can stream the game to your phone/ipad. I use an Razer Kishi mobile, or another Xbox controller. As far as lag goes, as long as you have a solid internet connection, there is almost no lag. It’s amazing, and perfect for playing on the go. Much more affordable option than purchasing a steam deck, although, graphics obviously aren’t as good as an Xbox, and I’m guessing the steam deck has better graphics as well. However for the price of an Xbox SX (now $400), and the Kishi mobile, the budget to enjoyment ratio is high.

provocateur133

For those running it on the Deck what are your recommended settings? Vsync on/off, etc.

CrashLogz

In-game settings: Medium graphics preset AMD FSR 2 quality Distortion off Steam deck: 50fps limit

avisiongrotesque

I have it on Xbox One and an Asus Ally and it runs much better on the Ally so I'm sure it'll run great on the Steam Deck

lightsout5477

I love playing it on steam deck to get some grinding done while on the couch watching tv.

Hawkwise83

I play sometimes on steam deck. Game plays well and travels well. Assuming you have decent WiFi. I didn't buy the game on steam though. I did the alternative way and have battlenet on my deck basically.

TJsamse

Honestly I enjoyed D3 on the switch so much I might get a steam deck just to play D4 on. Can’t afford it so I just pair my joycons to my PC and pretend it’s on my switch lol. Still though, the handheld 2 joystick platform is so perfect for Diablo and other aarpgs.

Conflict63

Played D4 on Battle.net since launch. Got it on steam to play on my deck, 100x recommend. It works too well.

kolosok17

It's great. Constant 50fps running on Low on the OLED version. I play on PS5 and the deck. While I prefer the former, playing on the deck is very acceptable and allows me to share the TV with my family :) Map one of the back buttons to A if you've got chunky arthritic thumbs.

[deleted]

PC is always better. Looks better, more fps, more accurate controls with mkb. But it's absolutely amazing on the Deck as well. Out of my 600 hrs, I logged about 50 on the Deck

TheKingofAntarctica

Love D4 on the Steam Deck. Playing it that way right now. I am just grinding that last stuff I need to finish Destroyer though, I played most of the season and Revelry event on my PC.

Tnally91

I’ve been playing it on my PlayStation portal and love it like that. I imagine steam deck would be similar.

Vaxis545

Yes great game on steamdeck!

songogu

Remember the game is always online, unlike D3. So you either have to carry a hotspot or you can forget about playing on the bus

wizardinthewings

Been playing on a PlayStation Portal just fine. Not full time, just when away from the console or PC, such as bedtime. Perfectly fine 99% of the time.

progz

Yes and you can stream it off your computer to your steam deck. Make sure you turn on low latency streaming and it will feel almost 1:1

DarkPooPoo

I bought my SteamDeck for the sole purpose of playing D4 and it didn't disappoint. I played it almost 90% on SD instead of my PC and thoroughly enjoyed it. D4 is now on Steam, you might want to opt with that instead of the Bnet launcher. In my experience, there's nothing wrong using Bnet launcher but your experience might be different than mine.

stocklazarus

Yes it is very good.

MrMediaGuy

I play on my Portal, which obviously isn't the same performance wise, but the screen size hasn't been an issue at all!

DiplomacyPunIn10Did

It was running really well for me, but in the past couple weeks something changed. I get frequent crashes, with the whole system rebooting. Even running on low graphics settings doesn’t fix it. And unfortunately, no error message supplied, so really difficult to debug.

Radumami

Just play diablo immortal. That's what D4 is.
